th-cam.com/video/DCYBijmAEKo/w-d-xo.html Just finished ME: LE. Still an amazing trilogy. I figured I would re-upload this scene from the Legendary Edition
Even though the "endings" aren't overly great, seeing the various fleets show up, and the various cutscenes play out according to the choices you had made through out the trilogy - man, nothing beats that. What a hell of a trilogy
Only problem was on the ground we SHOULDA also seen ALL the combined ground forces working together to route the Reapers.. all the Mercs backing up Geth heavies next to Elcor heavies and STG Commandos next to Asari Commandos advancing beside Rachni and Alliance Marines.. that look at each other, shrug and toss another grenade into a Reaper position. While some Turian snipers setup overwatch and start sniping...
@@robertagu5533 ABSOLUTE YES! That was what disappointed me the most in ME3. You spend an entire game literally uniting a galaxy to bring their combined forces to a grand final battle, and you just get a few minutes of cinematics in space (which show mostly human ships); half the fleets are only mentioned and are never actually seen (where are the Geth dreadnoughts, the Vorcha Void Devils, the Salarian stealth dreadnoughts, the remains of the Batarian fleet led by Balak, the new Rachni ships???), and we almost never see the ground forces, just a few assults by human infantry, a krogan and an asari getting blown up... I wish we'd have seen it all, Elcor heavies as you said, but also the SpecTRes coordinating tactical strikes, Eclips mechs just blasting in, Blue Suns blowing up husks, Blood Pack artiellery squads dropping buildings on Reaper squads, Batarian commandos just tearing Marauders apart, Asari huntresses battling banshees, rachni brood warriors sticking it to the Brutes... Not to mention Shepard's old squadmates doing what they do best, Zaeed tossing grenades around and wearing at Marauders, Samara leading a Justicar charge, Grunt and Wrex playing football with Cannibal skulls... Jesus this game had so much buildup, that final battle had so much potential, they could have made it much longer and much more difficult, with real stakes like moving from hotspot to hotspot, actually SEEING the people you recruited to their best and helping them along the way (with your success altering the battle itself) to the big final one against Harbinger... And no. NONE. OF. THAT. Curse EA for forcing BioWare to rush up the development. We could have waited 3 more years just to have the epic ending this franchise deserved.
@@corvushospestempestatis6039 Yeah got alot of the ending shoulda looked like a version of a WW2 battle from a war movie or something. vortcha flamethrowers blasting entrenched Reapers into Krogan, Human and Turian Ambushes. Maybe flash to Biotic Company just suppressing and outright dismantling a whole Battalion of Reaper troops. Kinda thing. I think what you mentioned about turning the tables with helping units, like being able to help the voices panicked bout bein pinned or over run. An then I thought woulda been nice to find say Miranda and Jacob's, Jack and Kirahee, etc an all their troops suddenly poppinnoutta nowhere to return the favor for games of helping them. Especially NPCs. Kinda like in their other flagship Dragon Age game. Did it there same as hear and it seemed EVERYONE left seemed to have troops and I'd had them trained and equipped SO WELL i spent most the level just running while my vengeful army CURB STOMPED every Orc, Troll and Goblin in site... I basically coulda put down the controller and waited for the next cut scene and been just fine... The start was repaid with interest and a parting gift. Maybe if they ever remaster the series they can fix this with ALOT more goin on in the ground engagement that we never got a chance to see or help in
@@robertagu5533 Fingers crossed. A remaster with complete rewriting of that final battle, that's something for which I'd definitely give my money to EA again. In the meantime, thanks to your comment I may just try playing Dragon Age. I've heard of it, but never played it ^^
@@UncannyBeagle Yeah I loved the Geth too, Legion told us so much about the Geth Consensus, he's my 3rd favourite character behind Garrus and Tali, and he's funny. I loved the Geth because they weren't just some robots who fought their creators because they weren't perfect, that's not so classic. The Morning War is very interesting because we discovered that the Geth didn't attack the Quarians... They just defended themselves. These two races are very interesting, and I love them.
I remember when I was playing FemShep and missed the romance line in ME2 - it was a little too forward, pretty much asking to make space babies, so I skipped it. Garrus never gave another opportunity. He was always buried in his calibrations whenever she tried to speak to him, forever forsaking her advances.
imagine being a member of the resistance on earth and then all the sudden you're bombarded by all the shots that potentially missed their intended target lol
That's what I thought too... just imagine some dude in a boat out at sea... he's jovial cuz he also has the tech to see the opening salvos an thanks he saved.. save for a couple big rounds... comin right at him "Ahwww.. sun of a----"
I actually think the initial barrage was as ineffective as it was for exactly the reasons established in canon way back in the first game: the fleet couldn't just open up weapons free, they had to wait for precise solutions. Thus, the bombardment was restricted. Had hitting Earth with stray fire not been a concern, the fleet likely could have had a greater firing rate and been more cavalier in their targeting.
+MrFight6666 They are a larger body of ships firing at a small(ish) space so it looks aimless. Most of those primary rail guns on even the smallest ships delivery a round with similar energy to a nuclear bomb with the larger ones with up to 38 kilotons. If as little as 5% of those shots missed there would be no earth left. So we'd just have to believe that they didn't miss or there wouldn't be much of a planet worth saving. It's not too hard to believe from that distance they probably painted their targets (Despite how slow they move in this video the shots move at 1% the speed of light so if you're pointing at it when you pull the trigger - you're gonna hit it.)
+Leo K No offense, but if you want to go real physics on this scene, absolutely NOTHING makes sense. Not the direction of approach, of the fleet, nor their direction of fire.
Anyone else in 2020 watching this in complete awe of how dramatic and engaging this was? Bioware needs to know that this is how you do a story. Regardless of the ending, this was a damn good scene. The sheer fact over the course of the game you had side quests to contribute to the fleets that show up at the final battle gives you a big sense of accomplishment, let alone the speech itself.
Yeah people complain about the ending (and they're right) but few mention that before that 5min ending, you have more or less 90 hours of story-telling and world-building that make the Mass effect games a legend ^^ Hackett out
My only wish was that it showed 1000+ more ships incoming through the relay. In my opinion, that would have been the bare minimum. As it was, this was still christmas to me.
@@DivideByZeroGetCake I agree with you, it should be more epic(much more ships, louder music, bigger cannons firing at faster pace, huge laser-beams from other ships like you had on normandy in ME2 if you upgraded etc.) We can only hope for the remaster of this trilogy, maybe with better ending? ;-)
It got me wondering, why are there not such fights in movies ? I mean, so many sci-fi films and not one with a battle as bigass and amazing as this ? Although, i gotta say, that battle was too good, it will be hard to best.
I always interpreted Joker's pause after saying that the Geth fleet was reporting as him suddenly realizing the sheer scale of how bonkers this was and needing a second.
+iOwn17_ Pro The xeele beat the reaper in present. Then jump to the past and kill them there again and then use the Milky Way as building block of one of their building projects.
I wonder what would have happened if you lived in this universe, but at some point you decided to go piss off to some random planet in a random system at some rarely visited part of the galaxy a few thousand light years from the closest Mass Relay. There, you dropped all technology aside from the essentials and just lived among the trees and hunted and gathered for yourself somewhere. Quite literally, the entirety of the events of Mass Effect 1-3 could have happened and you would have never fucking known. You would one day decide "You know what, it's been 10 years or so. Maybe I'll go visit mom on the Citadel." *What the hell happened to the Mass Relay*
depends. maybe one day you wake up with glowy green eyes. or when you do want to use the mass relay you find these giant techno-bugs fixing it because it somehow broke down. you open a channel and try to communicate with one of them only to hear a scary monster voice saying "I was Commander Shepard and this is my favorite mass relay in the galaxy!"
***** I know I know! My levels of adrenalin are of the charts whenever there is a fight but if you record and show it to others 90% of the excitement is gone.
i don't think they missed anything, there is targeting VI (AI with normandy and geth) in every ship, i think they were just shooting at reapers that were in last line
Imagine how the resistance on earth was reacting knowing the fleet is coming, dropping troops like the krogan to give them some well deserved support on the battlefield
Imagine the resistance in the first scene, when and the fleet is firing at the reaper The resistance is on Earth so everything that didn't touch a Reaper is falling on them ^^ PS: more Seriously, that must be badass seing Krogan, Geth, Rachi and freakin Elcor rolling over the Reaper's troup must be a sight to behold, especially after week/month resisting
@Guifire97 Wish we could have fought alongside the troops of those other species. Also, I kind of wish we got to see Hanar soldiers dual wielding pistols.
@@isaacdaffer1711 Yeah like blasto ^^ and the fucker must be hard to touch, especially if they fight in the thames (i'm more interested in the Elcor tho, the codex describe them as real tank that just put VI controlled minigun/canon on their back and advance, so badass)
@Guifire97 Imagine seeing a shuttle land, the doors open and Elcor with giant guns on their backs walking out on to the battlefield. There was so much wasted potential this mission had.
*Reapers stop firing* *Starts aiming past the fleets* Shepard: EDI what are they shooting at? EDI: Something big just entered this system! *in comes leviathan*
I love this scene, but I wish it had more of a reflection of just how you shaped the battle, and who all is there. Imagine: All the ships phase through, and the camera lingers longer the more allies you have. A nice diversity of ships. Cut to the cockpit: Shepard orders a full status report: Cut to Rear Admiral Mikalovich/Hackett in a massive fully-staffed Dreadnaught CIC: "We're ready commander." Cut to Primarch Victus in a CIC overlooking his working crew: "My men are prepared Shepard." Cut to the Destiny Ascension Commander looking over a subordinate's shoulder/a generic Asari captain looking over a small array of monitors: "We'll give everything commander." Cut to Han'Gerrel on a spartan bridge, seated behind and above his subordinates: "Save some Reapers for us Shepard." Cut to a Geth Prime, momentarily looking up as it responds: "All platforms are awaiting orders." The camera lingers on the Salarian vessels for a second. There are few or a decent number, depending on their overall commitment. Cut to a eager looking captain, eyes fixed on his omni-tool as he types and talks: "We are fully prepped and briefed commander." Cut to an Asari mercenary on a ragtag bridge, looking out over an inconsistent series of warships. Some are clearly dated: "Aria says hello." Cut to an Elcor in a large room with plenty of mercs and Krogan milling about: "With pride: the flotilla is ready to begin landing." Cut to a Hanar overlooking a loading bay packed with Drill checking their gear: "Our forces are ready to assist." Cut to Balak/a Batarian officer sitting in their chair, looking straight ahead, with barely contained, seething anger: "All the Reapers will die." Cut back to Shepard and Joker: "That's all of them." Intense awesome approach begins. Feedback?
Right after this Joker looks at a screen then excitedly notes "Shepard! Some of the Reapers are breaking off!" Cut to a token number of Reapers flying back toward Earth. Shepard watches for a moment, then relaxes and grins. "Looks like the Leviathan got their attention." Cut back to approach.
Thank you. I love the game, and its a beautifully done scene in the orginal. I could see something like this lingering to long for the average gamer, but thats what you and I get for being diehard fans.
The Rachni Queen: "The sour notes and oily shadows will be cleansed by our music." Just as the battle begins a dozen or two Reapers turn around and star shooting at other Reapers. Leviathan: "Today the Reapers will pay their tribute." Suddenly a small uncounted group of ships arrive: "You're not the only Spectre out there, Shepard." A few Cerberus ships arrive as well. Miranda: "We will beat the Reapers back, Shepard." And finally a last group of heavily armed ships arrive: "We have come by aid of the Shadow Broker."
John S. Bodle Also, can you imagine the most unlikely scenerio ever? For example, Harbinger is about to laser the shit out of you when all of a sudden a ship comes full speed behind him and you get contacted by radio and a all to familiar voice speaks. Conrad Verner: "Give 'em hell, Shepard!" A second later the ship crashes on Harbinger back making it miss the deadly blow just by a few meters.
That’s because Reapers are arrogant villains who think they’re invincible and that everything else was inferior. But now nearly the entire galaxy teams up against them and shows those reapers that they can also be hurt and destroyed.
@@joshuawillis602 That's what we wanted. Unfortunately the combined might of all life in the galaxy only killed one Reaper. And I'm pretty sure that that Reaper dies no matter how many fleets you gather, which means that Sovereign, the Human Reaper and that Reaper were all pretty much exclusively killed by the Humans, which spits in the face of what ME1 and 2 were building up and what the whole point of the ME franchise was in the first place. I'm pretty sure that the only thing that gathering all fleets achieves is reducing the amount of death on Earth with the Destroy ending. No matter what the Crucible docks with the Citadel (somehow) and every Reaper in existence dies, pretty much exclusively because of the Humans. That moment when the ME3 we have IS the ME3 at home from the "We have X thing at home" meme.
@@causticgastrap2835 Well we definitely didn't see any, and the depiction of the fight would suggest otherwise. At the very least additional war assets barely changes anything execpt a number on a codex log
@@TOONYBOY The Codex says that 3 dreadnoughts are capable of taking out a Sovereign-class reaper and 4 are almost certain to win. A reaper destroyer can be defeated by a single cruiser or a swarm of fighters or frigates. So yeah, unless they have a really bad strategy the Reapers are definitely going to face more casualties here.
Meanwhile in Stellaris when your federation finally tries to fight the enemy's largest fleet: Admiral Hackett: We will give them no qu- Shepard: Their fleet jumped as soon as we came into the system sir..... Admiral Hackett: Shit. *Begin the irl 2 hour chase as the enemy fleet jumps from system to system while you manage to land on every enemy mining station causing your fleet to stall the chase...*
Also in Stellaris: "The Asari fleet is ready and an alert has been issued but they're just sitting above their homeworld for some reason. The Salarian fleet promises they'll be with us shortly, just as soon as they're done upgrading the sensors on all of their ships at a single shipyard. The Quarians are here, but they're using weapons we had 200 years ago despite us literally giving them the more advanced technology, quite frankly Sir, they'll be of less use to us than our fighter craft. The Turians did send help but their FTL tech is so bad it won't be here for at least 30 years." "Okay, so it's just our fleet and the Federation one holding the line for now then" "About that - our fleet is fairly weak since we spent the last 50 years building the Federation fleet up to an unbeatable standard. Unfortunately the Federation fleet has just rotated to control of the Volus, who are retreating it from the rendezvous point on the grounds that they'd rather use it to deal with the piracy on their trade routes" "So we arranged a final stand on behalf of the entire galaxy and we're the only ones that actually showed up?" "Pretty much" "Okay screw it, pull our fleet back, let them start decimating our allies and then send our military to help when THEY co-ordinate a multi-fleet response."
Stellaris has a big problem that is common to all Paradox games (except HOI) and is the main reason that they are not masterpieces: Armies/fleet can move indefinitely without having to care about logistics. In EU4 you can b-line from Moscow to Paris without any sort of organizational losses (except minor drawbacks from attrition) and fleeing all over Europe for years. In Stellaris it would make sense if fleets had fuel to take into account. Moving your main fleet should take seriously into account refueling paths, so that movement is limited and follows a specific route. It would make wars more tactical and strategic systems more decisive.
"- The message just repeats : Regret, Regret, Regret. - Catchy. Any idea what that means ? - Dear Humanity, we regret being Reaper bastards, we regret coming to Earth and we most definitely regret that the Corps just blew up our raggedy-ass fleet ! - Regret is a name sergeant and we are in the wrong universe."
@@mattmc9812 Best part is he's voiced by Lance Henriksen, y'know; Bishop from Aliens/Alien 3 (and AVP but I don't know if mentioning that one is blasphemy).
RomulusUGaming CZ FTL is just Faster Than Light it's not a specific method like Hyperspace, Warp, etc. All Warp jumps are FTL jumps but not all FTL jumps are Warp based.
The dinosaurs brought an even greater fleet against them 65 million years ago, when there were a thousand times the number of Reapers there are today. The Reapera did feel fear when they saw they could defeat the dinosaurs only by drowning them in the Reapers own blood. Harbinger was the ONLY survivor, and has been trying to rebuild Reaper numbers ever since. The facts that humans-the greatest threat to them since that time-came from the same planet, is not lost on the Reapers. If they win here, they will work to split earth apart so as not to have this happen again.
They could have added alot more. Showing the batarian fleets that joined you despite the hate between them and the alliance + all the other minor factions you brought in. Shame really
@@novaexplorer2397 The Salarians don't join you if you choose to activate the Genophage Cure, which is most likely the path you'll choose on a Paragon playthrough (which I'm guessing the OP here did, considering the Destiny Ascension is intact). Still, that's a good point. It would have been REALLY dumb of the Salarians for them to sit this out considering they're one of the smartest races in the galaxy; they have to know that their best chance of survival is to join the other races and throw everything all in at this point, because if they fail, then the Salarians are going to be standing alone against the Reapers.
@@blowbert9126 I wouldn't really say hatred, more like the remnants are desperate for payback for the destruction of their civilization. At that point, Batarians and Humans had a common enemy and it would have been better if it showed their fleet admirals coordinating the assault on the Reaper held Earth.
All fleets reporting is awesome, but I really wished all faction leaders had a line actually reporting and giving some inspirational message with Shepard saying a few words right before the fight begins. Also all of them actually doing something in regards of the last moments.
So much agree. It feels jarring that only the Quarian fleet does it, and basically highlights that none of the others do and makes it feel like something is missing .
hey this mass effect was so much better then andromeda that was the worst mass effect ever made which is why do not let your 3 year old make a mass effect as that's what happens you get crap effect 4 andromeda
+Antonio Almeida You know. I kind of wanted the Normandy to crash land at some point on Earth. Depending on your choices of how you treated your squad, upgraded the Normandy, and the way Shepard has picked the main choices of gaining support. All deiced the fate of your crew. If you didn't upgrade the armor, and barrier for the Normandy. Joker will be dead, along with half of the crew. If you didn't vent the core. then Ken, Gab, and Adams will die due to the over heating. however if all is upgraded then they survive the crash, yet reaper forces are rushing towards the Normandy. And thus your former and current squad mates leading the ground forces all go to help protect the Normandy. However Shepard has to choose. Continue to charge towards the beam run, or risk everything just to save his crew and friends. If Shepard picks saving his friends, then Anderson get furious at Shepard and tells him he will push on but he understands what Shepard has to do. If Shepard didn't bring enough war assets, Hammer team is taken out, and Anderson is shown dead. If Shepard did bring enough war assets, some of hammer team is killed yet Anderson managed to make it towards the beam yet Harbinger stands in the way, and thus waits on Shepard. If Shepard chooses to go ahead towards the beam. If Shepard failed to save no more than 5 of his squadmates throughout the whole ME trilogy. Then a a scene is shown them all dying one by one, and if your love interest is there. They will be the last to die and you will see them looking towards the beam and say a sad line that is different upon which romance you choose d. If Shepard kept everyone alive that could have been saved. Then a scene is shown they are holding their ground and saving as many crewmates as they can. YET if war assets are low or medium, they can not provide evac for the crew, and all make a final stand. If Shepard goes back to the Normandy, and war assets are low or medium yet at least no more than 5 squadmates that died are still alive. Then you fight off an endless waves of husk and and various factions of Reapers/ Ruminates of Cerberus troops. Your Shepard will see everyone he cares for dies, and if you romanced someone. Shepard will be holding his dying lover in his/her hands and say goodbye. If Shepard did get medium war assets then there is a possible chance that Cortex will arrive damaged yet manages to only pick up Shepard and takes him towards Anderson. If Shepard has everything on high, then the Normandy team holds their ground long enough to have help to arrive, yet at the price of Joker dying in order to give the Normandy team time to retreat. If Garrus stayed behind he will take Jokers place and will die. This can only be possible if Shepard beat Garrus in the bottle contest game, and talks with him before the final battle. Achievements earn will be. "Not This Time" * Ensure that everyone in the crew doesn't die" " The Killing Joke" *Joker makes the ultimate sacrifice* " In War...Victory" *Sacrifice the Normandy crew to win the war" " HARBINGERRRRRRRRR" * Anderson and Hammer Team are taken out* " True Marksmen" * Garrus makes the ultimate sacrifice* " I Will Say This Last Goodbye" *Shepard and his team fall in battle* " Lone Wolf" *Shepard is the only one left to survive the Priority Normandy mission"
I'd play a mod like this, even if I already like a lot how things play out. Okay, a bit disappointed that the ending itself is about the final color the mass relays have but ... you know. I got used to it.
You may not be familiar with air combat strategies (in this case, space). This is most likely the leader of the leading echelon, which is why he calls everyone else to follow him. I'm sorry for my bad english.
@@Hydra_mYi Yeah, And I was also thinking why an Alliance pilot, when it dawned on me, most of the fighters would have been Alliance. Sure the other race's defiantly had Fighter capability, but it was only the Alliance that built Dreadnaught Carriers to get around the Dreadnaught limit. I always wondered why it was an Alliance pilot, and that's my reasoning. The most likely had a significant fighter numbers compared from the others, so they took the lead.
They need to make this into a RTS game. Make the Reapers end game invades. Anybody play stellaris or sins of a solar empire knows what I am talking about.
I knew at that moment, nearing the finale of the trilogy, that I've participated in a journey that has marked one of the brightest points in gaming history. Mass Effect has inspired me and changed my life for the better.
It's a masterwork of a game series and the effects are nothing short of stunning. The villains fit their role like hand in glove, and if it weren't for FUCKING EA SHIT-EATERS forcing Bioware to rush the ending with the Crucible then I'm sure that even that one black mark upon Mass Effect wouldn't exist.
Until this year, 2019, the only experience I had with mass effect was Andromeda. It was meh and I'd never played the og trilogy and Andromeda gave me no reason to want to. I got the trilogy with all DLC for cheap from GameStop in March. It is now November and I've 100% completed the series from joker hating nihlus through to TIM making you shoot Anderson and making your final choice 4 times. This series is amazing, and I love it, and 7 and a half months ago I barely knew it existed.
Christian Johnson it is truly a masterpiece of a game series. Considering the first mass effect was never hyped, at least in Australia. I picked up a copy of the first one cheap on a whim and was instantly hooked. Andromeda was garbage and killed any future games sadly.
I like the subtle details. The fighter squad you recruit in the citadel helps against the drones better than anyone. Getting the evasive manoeuvre codes allow the ships to evade the laser beam from the first reaper, preventing the destruction of the frigate.
@@rylan8046 I don’t know if you’ve solved it but I don’t remember exactly but as you play the game there’s computers or equipment you need to scan. @@nicholaspowell7029 doesn't matter when you can install the Happy Ending fan made mod, where you destroy the reapers without sacrificing synthetics and Shephard is there along with everyone at the memorial wall
Probably if you've managed to involve a great deal of the space fleets out there and get all of them involved in the final battle, I'd imagine that's why! This is one of the big payoffs in ME3!
I don't know why, but when I read this comment I read it as "When I reach this cutscene, I'm so proud to touch myself. I don't know why." Someone please help my poor poor brain.
Alien 1: What did he just say? Alien 2: I believe it's called a motivational speech. The humans use it to improve their moral in the face of overwhelming odds.
Mass Effect 3 in alternate Universe:- Joker: Alliance fleet reporting, Elcor fleet reporting, Volus fleet reporting, Hanar fleet reporting. All fleets reporting in Commander ! Ready to engage on your command. Reapers: Trolololololo......
P.J. Dales I don't know about the ship or the bombadment fleet... I was not able to see it in the final battle even though they were promised for the cause. Lol. But the Biotic God... omg that would be enough to wipe out the reaper ground troops deployed in any planet. He was awesome and I am witness of his immense power .. I was in awe after his power display to Shepard :D
+Thaal Sinestro Hackett was voiced by Lance Henriksen. That why you don't hear much of him in Mass 2, because at the same time Aliens vs Predators was being made and he was doing the voice overs for Bishop.
Imagine this as a series. 8 seasons in and the final episode of season 7 joker says "through the relay in 30 seconds commander" then as it get to the final second and you here the mass relay generating power the end credits roll and we have to wait a whole year before last season starts 🤣🤣
+Kenny Sells I've heard it is orginally the sound of a black bear being stuck in a trashcan which the devs saw on a vacation. So it just what it sounds like if something big throughs itself around in hollow container, just played slower, deeper, and more electronic. :D
Also when every fleet in the galaxy enters the system to bombard that contingency sterilization hub you just cleared out. Followed by an awakened empire’s colossus coming in just behind as the Crucible analogue.
When my Terran Federation's 1st fleet I always name "The Terran Armada" enters the homeworld system of a dictatorship to put the flag of my militarist citizen republic.
while it is quite an amazing scene I cant feel like it was cut short. its always the same scene. minor diffrences choices you made did not matter. you dont see a geth shit firing, or the huge destiny ascention firing its main gun if you saved it. you just see a 5 second scene of it and that's it. no real inpact, no unique fighting scenes. if only EA gave bioware some time Im sure they would have made it so.
Jerber SPUDDA Mass Effect 3 has an estimated production cost of $40 million, so you're telling me that nearly half of that budget was spent on 1 cut-scene.
Mass effect 3 was the worst game in the trilogy. The only reason a film would be justified is if they redid the entire story, and dramatically changed the absolutely terrible ending.
"Permission to come aboard." "Permission Gra-" *already on board* Exactly what to expect from someone whose speech I still to this day expect to end with the dropping of a mic.
Shepard may have assembled the fleets, but Hacket was the one holding the Reapers at bay while he was doing it. tbh, Hacket probably did almost as much work as Shepard. Without him the Reapers would have overrun and destroyed them long before Shepard could have assembled the fleet.
Owera Darksky and to think Admiral Anderson kept Earth's resistance intact with little support from the outside galaxy long enough for there to be an earth to save. Admiral Hackett, Admiral Anderson, and Commander Shepard truly the big three of the reaper war
A big mistake with this sequence was not letting us participate in the space battle. Imagine piloting the Normandy through hordes of Reapers, dog fighting smaller targets. Even if it had been a linear sequence, it would've gone a long way making this even more epic.
Sounds awesome on paper but I can't really see how they could implant it into the game without it feeling really out of place. I'd rather they spend that time on some more varied endings (I don't hate hate the endings they were just a little lacklustre)
It's not a third person shooter, it's an RPG. The giant ships were a constant looming, near invincible threat that worked perfectly in the context of the story.
What I would have really liked to see is a space battle where you control the Destiny Ascension (or if it was destroyed, then a Turian or Asari Dreadnought) and you get to duke it out with Harbinger himself. One thing I absolutely HATED about ME3 is that you never get the chance to give Harbinger his come-uppance for all the pain and anguish he puts you and the galaxy through. In fact, you could even argue that in the final Harbinger-Shepard encounter in front of the beacon, Harbinger wins. The way I'd have done it, following that space battle between Harbinger and the Destiny Ascension (in which you always lose because Harbinger is by far the biggest and most powerful Reaper), Harbinger lands at the beacon to stop Shepard. The more damage you did to him previously in the battle, the more of your allies survive during the run. If you absolutely flunked the space battle (because your War Assets are too low or you didn't research enough upgrades for your fleets), then Harbinger completely devastates the ground forces, killing off everybody but Shepard (and this includes your two squadmates who accompanied you on the final run). If Shepard is all alone, then the ending of ME3 plays out much the same as it is now. If his squadmates survived, on the other hand, then they also get sent up to the Citadel (although they are separated from Shepard) and arrive in time to help Shepard defeat the Illusive Man and save Anderson from being killed.
+Emil Mihalcea The new generations are less interested (or less able honestly) in strategy games. In a world of instant gratification, games that has hours of work, and moments of pay off, doesn't apply to the average person :/
***** wich is rather jarrin considering youve got domewhere sbout two hundred thousand ships bearing doeon on afew hundred reapers above earth. Judging by the fifty thousand strong Flottilla that is.
+RyanBrooksby I still call bullshit. Soverign was defeated by a few dozen ships. At earth lets say 10000 and thats an exeggeration, mind you went up against over a hundred thousand. the Quarians alone had half that number.
I'm a couple years late, but wasn't Sovereign weakened from the inside when Shepard killed Saren the second time? If I remember Sovereign went completely inactive before they killed him.
You know what makes this amazing is that it show that no matter what when we put aside our difference and come together as one we can accomplish anything, one day in the future we humanity will come up against a greater threat and we will have to come together as one to over come it truly a beautiful thing to think about thank you Bioware for this epic scene.
no..it means that we are doomed before birth,..simply because we cannot stand together....not even on common ground...we are divided as we will fall...and we will only be one in ashes
@@NevG27 That depends on your choices, see if your galactic readiness is 3100 if you have the extended cut then your fleet basically has a fighting chance, and with the extended cut and the Catalyst being fully ready, choosing the destroy ending sorta benefits humanity, so its not really shit in the end so long as your choices are good, and most choices usually originate from the older ME games as well. Basically the player behind this scene put a hell of a lot of effort into the ME games just to make this perfect and thus it benefitted, while the reapers wont go down easily, the fleet atleast did some beneficial damage and not many of their ships were destroyed. Plus it wouldn't even matter if their galactic readiness was good either because we've seen how strong a single Reaper ship is, we saw Sovereign in ME1 take on an a fleet protecting the citadel, and not once did sovereign take any damage from that fleet, only way they were able to destroy sovereign was to wait for shephard to disable its shields, so its not really your fault if your fleet is still un-able to deal intense damage because in the end, the Reapers are basically unbeatable in a close up fight, the catalyst was shephards only option. Thats what makes the reapers honest to god a terrifying fleet, they are emotionless and only seek to continue a cycle for organics. They have no mercy and are designed to be unbeatable. I'm gonna get off topic here but this is why Andromeda is the worst game, it introduces a new enemy called the Kett but they seem a bit beatable and less of a threat compared to the terrifying reapers, hell I bet even a single reaper ship to destroy the ketts fleet. I'm just hoping the new mass effect game coming soon brings back the old feeling of being terrified despite everything you have.
@@Ivotas i will never get to disagree with you on that. i have yet to see a better space battle. the only thing that come to mind is the tv show: star gate atlantis where the good gys teams up with others to fight "the bad guys" in space. but thats on a much smaller scale
@@ZeroCanalX im replaying the game right now, according to Hackett the Batarian empire no longer exists. They were the first ones hit. There are some refugees on the citadel but thats about it.
Glenn Beurskens As the rubric marine stated, the Batarian fleet remnants rallied into one massive fleet. I don’t know why they weren’t present and counted though.
3:45 Man this part is so perfect, you see the sheer volume of fire from the entire fleet of ships at first, then as the closest ship to the camera fires, it sounds like such a powerful shot, giving a sense of the overwhelming destruction coming from the fleet
I had hoped Leviathan, Omega and Citadel DLC would change this a bit, as would some assets you gained would have made for cool cutscenes. The Volus Dreadnought: Kwuna flies straight into Reaper lines surrounded by either the Voids Devils fighter Wings, the ex Cerberus advanced fighter squadron or Turian fighters. the Dreadnought fires all it's Thanix cannons taking out Reaper Dreadnoughts, the fighters take out the Oculus sent against it. The Dreadnought itself takes hits and eventually it's shields give, it's armor burns, Turian and Volus crew hit the lifepods while the Turian Captain flies the ship into a Sovereign Class Reaper and detonates scoring a lucky hit against a second Reaper ship. On a Batarian starship, there is a memorial wall where many Batarians pass and tuch pictures, opposite it is a window showing a reaper firing it's cannon striking that section, the blast is disrupted as the Reaper takes hits from Batarian firepower, but the wall and hapless Batarians in the corridor are sucked into space through the damaged area. A stealth ship piloted by a blood pack Krogan navigates through a battle and detonates it's payload disabling the Reapers, Eclipse soldiers and mechs suited for spatial combat fly into a Reaper and use anti synthetic guns to cripple the ship from the inside by blasting any nodes in sight and taking out any husks sent after them. Krogan soldiers charge across the plains of Africa toward a ruined city, the footsoliders mow down Husks with Claymores and Spike Throwers. Some are mounted on Kakliosaurs which charge over brutes and grounded Harvesters. Others use biotic abilities to toss around and crush husks. A Alliance unit is surrounded by Reaper Banshees, Salarian STG operatives (if alive, led by Kirrahe) charge through bolstering the Alliance groups, they don't give them an exit, they give them a means for a offensive where the Banshees are gunned down.
Everytime that admiral Hackett talks to shephard during my playthroughs that I cannot help grin knowing he is also a Shepherd, just on a different game
Of all the games I've played 2005-2013, the Mass Effect trilogy was my most epic one. I finished 1 way back in 2007-2009, borrowed 2 and 3 at the library in March 2013 and finished both games in a span of 10 days! I COULDN'T STOP PLAYING! I HAD to know how this intergalactic soap opera ended! The story was too good, the battles too awesome and spamming combo of rapid-fire Geth rifle blind-fire, concussion and lift FTW!
i like the think that on a different galaxy far away a battle similar to this has happened. Entire fleets of advanced species engaging in combat like this...pure epic

"We harvest organic lifeforms before their synthetic creations destroy them". Bioware really wrote themselves in a corner with that. The only dangerous synthetic lifeforms have made peace with organics and are willing to live side by side. I know I just sound like another pissed fanboy but that doesn't change the fact that all of the choices most people made in a full paragon playthrough, have no impact on the ending.
Joey Deguelle that logic was because the original reason the reapers harvested organic life was apparently leaked on the net. it was something to do with dark energy going out of control, thus the Tali Halestrom mission with the hyper ageing star
Kolza yes, something to do with the amounts of mass effect energy used by each cycle of civilisation growing to the point where it started to affect all dark energy and matter. the reapers were supposed to be a ancient safety system that went wrong. not AI bullshit.
thanqualthehighseer That idea was just that--an idea. Very little progress was ever made on fleshing that out into a detailed story. Drew Karpyshyn, who was part of writing those early ideas, has flat out stated the idea wasn't even close to fully formed and he doesn't believe it would have resulted in a necessarily better story. Assuming that you would have loved the ending if this idea had come to fruition is silly--you might have hated it even more.
thanqualthehighseer Now that I think about it, I don't remember stuff with that star explained in game, I just remember them saying it had something to do with dark energy. I might have just missed it, if so my bad.
It never ceases to piss me off how Bioware had the Reapers be outnumbered by like a thousand-to-one in the final battle and yet the fleet uses what is without a doubt the most idiotic battle tactics imaginable. Hell, with the sheer number of ships taking part in the final battle, no fancy technologies should even have been required!
When were the reapers outnumbered? I'm pretty sure they held numerical advantage just about every time. The reapers in the video are only the ones being attacked by the fleet, I would be genuinely surprised if a practiced xenocidal race didn't think to bring reserves. And see my comment above to Mr. Macjaews as per the tactics involved.
***** No we aren't. Sure not every Reaper is at Earth, but it said in the game that the Reapers had diverted a huge percentage of their numbers to Earth and the Citadel for the final battle.
This discussing is somewhat irrelevant when you read the actual script of the game. Or rather what was taken out because of EA's money grabbing tendencies. That and the fact that a looooooooooooooooooooooooooot of people that wrote me1 never made it to me2 and even less to me3. What remains is a pointless race of repurposed beings with no point at all. "we kill because we must" and the rest of the tail chasing. The real purpose of the reapers was to find a way to save the galaxy from an impending doom, their creation a tragic yet noble one. The synthetic vs organic bs was shit stamped in to fill the gaps left when the plot was butchered. That's the reason why the whole ending feels shitty and looks like swiss cheese. And that translates to scenes like these as well. Meh, mind you i kept the larger details hidden from the discussion since once you read the original plot (which was intended from me1 and me2) the "original ending" of me3's bad aftertaste will seem like minty mouthwash compared to the butchery this game suffered. And remember, i'm not saying the game is horrible, not at all i still play it regularly, but it's a shitty thing that EA did and for destroying it i hate them with a burning passion.
The part that bothers me is that we never get to actually see the Geth ships, or Salarians, actually fight, we get instead a bunch of Human and Turian cruisers (not even the dreadnoughts) fire at everything, with a bunch of Destiny Ascension clones, all the fighters look identical, and we never even get to see the Omega Fleet, don't even get me started on the ground scenes.
Josue Ramos Because it was a last minute bodge. The initial plot before EA stuck it's dick in BioWare's ass was different. Frankly, if i were one of the guys that had to leave the project because the project director was a EA dog (nothing with dogs in general) i'd be pretty pissed. I'd be pissed enough to go public. Which some of them did. They certainly leaked the original plot and how much a of douche that guy is.

You are not a cowboy shooting from the hip! Sir, yes sir!
we have to assume that they didn't miss. because considering the firepower thrown at the reapers, even if 5 to 10% of that initial volley missed, a sizeable portion of Earth's solid surface facing the battle would have been turned into glass.
After that concept being deemed important enough to be brought up in the series TWICE, once in a codex entry, and once in a conversation you happened across in the Citadel. Ah well. Make an omelet, and all that.
"All fleets are reporting in commander. Ready to engage on your command" This clearly wasn't the time to get all emotional but damn I was holding back tears. I still do, even though I played it years ago.
Anyone else get strangely choked up seeing the thousands of ships coming out of the relay? I dont know why that scene just compleyely gets me every time...
+Pertchak - -it would take too much time to write every fleet of the astartes (space marines)... :D - reporting - Terran fleet reporting - Protoss fleet reporting - Swarm (dont know if Zagara could report :D ) - EVE online fleets (too many) reporting
This was the best part of ME3 for me. While playing ME3 and watching these scenes for the first time, i felt very emotional, knowing that all those hours i had spent playing ME1,2&3 as Com. Sheppard, putting hundreds of hours playing side missions, trying to forge alliances with other races and friendships with my crewmates had led to an amazing outcome; in the words of Adm. Hacket "the might of the galaxy coming together" and taking on the toughest yet and most brutal of all enemies. I felt very satisfied until i came to know the fate of Sheppard at the end and was left speechless.
And here i am, being sad about the fact that most of the population of real life earth wont know the beauty of the best work of art in history of gaming just because its "just a game".... i wonder if there will ever be a movie franchise or something, just to show the rest of the world this amazing bag of feelings we had when playing this game.
Technological limitations also affect it. There are a lot of people from poor countries who can't even afford a basic computer, let alone something capable of gaming. Consoles don't sell well in those countries unsurprisingly. Parents don't see why they should drop their hard-earned money on a "silly gaming device". Whereas a TV is a more compelling buy for them. Even if those kids get something to play on, other things hinder them. Unstable electricity, limited broadband plans, decade-old hardware, scalping of new hardware, prevalent piracy to name a few. I speak from personal experience. When I finally bought a decent laptop for uni in 2016, I had to catch up on almost two decades worth of titles. People crying over PS5 scarcity have my sympathies but they don't know the real struggle.

Just finished ME: LE. Still an amazing trilogy. I figured I would re-upload this scene from the Legendary Edition
Even though the "endings" aren't overly great, seeing the various fleets show up, and the various cutscenes play out according to the choices you had made through out the trilogy - man, nothing beats that. What a hell of a trilogy
why is the new video marked as being for kids?
Can you do it without the helmet on Shepard please? :) Would be much appreciated either way
Still gives me goosebumps.

Shepard: I'm coming back for u, and I'll bring every fleet I can!
*All fleets scene*
Anderson: 0_0
"I'll bring every fleet I can!"
*Literally brings the entire galaxy's military combined*
Daniel Tali is always #1
Imagine if a dead Reaper landed on you.
That's what I thought too... just imagine some dude in a boat out at sea... he's jovial cuz he also has the tech to see the opening salvos an thanks he saved.. save for a couple big rounds... comin right at him
"Ahwww.. sun of a----"
I actually think the initial barrage was as ineffective as it was for exactly the reasons established in canon way back in the first game: the fleet couldn't just open up weapons free, they had to wait for precise solutions. Thus, the bombardment was restricted. Had hitting Earth with stray fire not been a concern, the fleet likely could have had a greater firing rate and been more cavalier in their targeting.
Now that's what you call, "friendly fire!"
@@AgentofChaos315 i just call that a really bad day XD
Remember that lesson on Newtonian physics?
Yeah, the Earth got fucked.
+Leo K To be fair, it was already fucked in the first place.
+Leo K pshaw.
Terra endures.
+Leo K Remember that guy in Mass Effect 2. Still though, look how many shells were fired aimlessly. Sure quite alot of those hit Earth...
And Angry Birds got a movie before Mass Effect did.
Yup, it's messed up ha

Matt Allen what does it being an rpg have to do wanting to play it?
Anyone else in 2020 watching this in complete awe of how dramatic and engaging this was? Bioware needs to know that this is how you do a story. Regardless of the ending, this was a damn good scene. The sheer fact over the course of the game you had side quests to contribute to the fleets that show up at the final battle gives you a big sense of accomplishment, let alone the speech itself.
This scene was very impressive at the time. It is still pretty good now.
Yeah people complain about the ending (and they're right) but few mention that before that 5min ending, you have more or less 90 hours of story-telling and world-building that make the Mass effect games a legend ^^

When the fleet jumps in, am I the only one who gets a cold chill of awe?
I almost died of hypothermia by how chill that was.
My only wish was that it showed 1000+ more ships incoming through the relay. In my opinion, that would have been the bare minimum. As it was, this was still christmas to me.
This is my favorite gaming cinematic.
@@DivideByZeroGetCake I agree with you, it should be more epic(much more ships, louder music, bigger cannons firing at faster pace, huge laser-beams from other ships like you had on normandy in ME2 if you upgraded etc.) We can only hope for the remaster of this trilogy, maybe with better ending? ;-)
I was like "DONT FUCK WITH ME HARBINGER"

You can get to 7k war assets
5k is rather easy. I just passed the Cerberus Coup and already have 5.5k. Try to hit 7k, that's a tough one.
BTW. Latest score: 8267. With one or two renegade decisions 8.5k would be possible.
I love this scene, but I wish it had more of a reflection of just how you shaped the battle, and who all is there. Imagine:
All the ships phase through, and the camera lingers longer the more allies you have. A nice diversity of ships. Cut to the cockpit: Shepard orders a full status report:
Cut to Rear Admiral Mikalovich/Hackett in a massive fully-staffed Dreadnaught CIC: "We're ready commander."
Cut to Primarch Victus in a CIC overlooking his working crew:
"My men are prepared Shepard."
Cut to the Destiny Ascension Commander looking over a subordinate's shoulder/a generic Asari captain looking over a small array of monitors:
"We'll give everything commander."
Cut to Han'Gerrel on a spartan bridge, seated behind and above his subordinates:
"Save some Reapers for us Shepard."
Cut to a Geth Prime, momentarily looking up as it responds:
"All platforms are awaiting orders."
The camera lingers on the Salarian vessels for a second. There are few or a decent number, depending on their overall commitment. Cut to a eager looking captain, eyes fixed on his omni-tool as he types and talks:
"We are fully prepped and briefed commander."
Cut to an Asari mercenary on a ragtag bridge, looking out over an inconsistent series of warships. Some are clearly dated:
"Aria says hello."
Cut to an Elcor in a large room with plenty of mercs and Krogan milling about:
"With pride: the flotilla is ready to begin landing."
Cut to a Hanar overlooking a loading bay packed with Drill checking their gear:
"Our forces are ready to assist."
Cut to Balak/a Batarian officer sitting in their chair, looking straight ahead, with barely contained, seething anger:
"All the Reapers will die."
Cut back to Shepard and Joker:
"That's all of them."
Intense awesome approach begins.
John S. Bodle oh my god....why.....why wasn't this how they did it, it sounds so much more badass
Thank you. I love the game, and its a beautifully done scene in the orginal. I could see something like this lingering to long for the average gamer, but thats what you and I get for being diehard fans.
The Rachni Queen:
"The sour notes and oily shadows will be cleansed by our music."
Just as the battle begins a dozen or two Reapers turn around and star shooting at other Reapers.
Leviathan:
"Today the Reapers will pay their tribute."
Suddenly a small uncounted group of ships arrive:
"You're not the only Spectre out there, Shepard."
A few Cerberus ships arrive as well.
Miranda:
"We will beat the Reapers back, Shepard."
And finally a last group of heavily armed ships arrive:
"We have come by aid of the Shadow Broker."
John S. Bodle Also, can you imagine the most unlikely scenerio ever? For example, Harbinger is about to laser the shit out of you when all of a sudden a ship comes full speed behind him and you get contacted by radio and a all to familiar voice speaks.
Conrad Verner:
"Give 'em hell, Shepard!"
A second later the ship crashes on Harbinger back making it miss the deadly blow just by a few meters.
There is something... satisfying, to see the Reaper go into pieces.
@@TOONYBOY pretty sure way more than just one reaper died during the entire attack
Joker: So Commander, what's our attack strategy?
Shepard: We shall implement the Nero strategy. FIRE EVERYTHING!!!!!
I see what you did there, STAR TREK :D
How to destroy everything but not reapers:D
Meanwhile in Stellaris when your federation finally tries to fight the enemy's largest fleet:
Admiral Hackett: We will give them no qu-
Shepard: Their fleet jumped as soon as we came into the system sir.....
Admiral Hackett: Shit.
*Begin the irl 2 hour chase as the enemy fleet jumps from system to system while you manage to land on every enemy mining station causing your fleet to stall the chase...*
Also in Stellaris:
"The Asari fleet is ready and an alert has been issued but they're just sitting above their homeworld for some reason.
The Turians did send help but their FTL tech is so bad it won't be here for at least 30 years."
"Okay, so it's just our fleet and the Federation one holding the line for now then"
"About that - our fleet is fairly weak since we spent the last 50 years building the Federation fleet up to an unbeatable standard. Unfortunately the Federation fleet has just rotated to control of the Volus, who are retreating it from the rendezvous point on the grounds that they'd rather use it to deal with the piracy on their trade routes"
"So we arranged a final stand on behalf of the entire galaxy and we're the only ones that actually showed up?"
"Pretty much"
"Okay screw it, pull our fleet back, let them start decimating our allies and then send our military to help when THEY co-ordinate a multi-fleet response."
So.. u need back up huh? --- Deadites Fungers ---
@@aecides3203 needs more dakka
@@aecides3203 The sad thing is this is probably the more likely outcome realistically xD.

In Mass Effect they travel by FTL not Hyperspace but we all know what you wanted to say. :)
And it's missing so many like the terminus fleets and physical geth ships and it's still badass
Yeah. And we need every ship with Thanix cannon :D
Thats what made ME3 a Legend Game! I Love these games.
RomulusUGaming CZ FTL is just Faster Than Light it's not a specific method like Hyperspace, Warp, etc. All Warp jumps are FTL jumps but not all FTL jumps are Warp based.
Do you think, even for a millisecond, the reapers were like...”damn, that’s a lot of ships.”
"Damn, that's alot of ships........ to harvest".
"... Calculations incorrect, the meat bags actually did it. We're gonna need more dragon's teeth, Harbinger"
I think they thought. They're working together.... We're so screwed.
@@arbiterskiss6692 😂nice fanfic
LOL at the Quarians in this clip.
Admiral Hackett: Stand fast. Stand strong. Stand together.
Quarian Commander: F@$# that, I'm sitting down.
Such a great cutscene, think it could've been improved by showing all the fleet commanders and having them report in instead of joker
It's weird the quarians get one and none of the other races do.
Where are the salerians? They have 16 dreadnoughts

You know.

I admire Admiral Hacketout.
HotaruZoku That is a true badass fleet commander.
Owera Darksky and to think Admiral Anderson kept Earth's resistance intact with little support from the outside galaxy long enough for there to be an earth to save. Admiral Hackett, Admiral Anderson, and Commander Shepard truly the big three of the reaper war
This is THE BEST battle scene in any movie and any game I've ever seen. Hands down!
That would have been awesome, I'd be spamming that thanix cannon
The Reapers were one of the biggest flaws of the Mass Effect series. Big sentient space ships don't make for a good enemy in a third person shooter.
So, umm, why not make a Mass Effect strategy game? Like the Star Wars Empire at War, only with better graphics and gameplay improvements :D
+Emil Mihalcea that would be awesome
+Emil Mihalcea Homeworld has a mod for it,so does SoaSE,I bet you there is an ME mod for SWEAW
+Emil Mihalcea would be cool if the combined both i think like they sort of did in assassins creed revelations
go check the Mass Effect Reborn mod for Homeworld :) btw the team is remaking it for the Remastered edition and i'm sure it's going to be epic.
+Emil Mihalcea The new generations are less interested (or less able honestly) in strategy games. In a world of instant gratification, games that has hours of work, and moments of pay off, doesn't apply to the average person :/
mass effect 1
Sovereign " we will darken your worlds skies "
mass effect 3
shepard " ok everyone FUCK`EM UP! "
***** wich is rather jarrin considering youve got domewhere sbout two hundred thousand ships bearing doeon on afew hundred reapers above earth. Judging by the fifty thousand strong Flottilla that is.
***** There are not millions of Reapers, only a few thousands, with only around a few hundred around the Earth orbit
***** well dont forget that one that got its arms ripped off, though it just shrugged it off and blew up the one that did it...
Years later and this cinematic still gives me chills.
"Hackett motherfucking out".
+Coron Deeja (*drops mic*)
+DaBaDaMaMaN (walks off stage like a badass)
You know what makes this amazing is that it show that no matter what when we put aside our difference and come together as one we can accomplish anything, one day in the future we humanity will come up against a greater threat and we will have to come together as one to over come it truly a beautiful thing to think about thank you Bioware for this epic scene.
Well, it's a nice sentiment but kinda falls apart when you remember bringing everyone together meant shit all in the end.
no..it means that we are doomed before birth,..simply because we cannot stand together....not even on common ground...we are divided as we will fall...and we will only be one in ashes
I'm just hoping the new mass effect game coming soon brings back the old feeling of being terrified despite everything you have.
that's what happen in mass effect right? the turian great war
@@NevG27 Did it? The point was to hold the line, to fight a losing battle to buy time to deploy the Deus Ex M... I mean the Crucible.
And they did.

+EJ Domingo You mean a Reckoning of Amalur? Eh? Eh? Y'know Kuz EA tried to market it with Mass Effect 3? Eh? Pretty funny!

still to this date, in my eyes the MOST AMAZING Space battle cinematic in game history.
I'd say in Sci-Fi history even.
@@Ivotas i will never get to disagree with you on that. i have yet to see a better space battle.
the only thing that come to mind is the tv show: star gate atlantis where the good gys teams up with others to fight "the bad guys" in space. but thats on a much smaller scale
It's a shame they don't show the Geth fleet. Their ships look badass and they're powerful.
On the plus side we saw the asari fleet. Now that's amazing.
@@dango6266 But no mention of Batarian fleet, like at all. Not even when the Crucible is deployed - which is where I'd expect them.
@@ZeroCanalX im replaying the game right now, according to Hackett the Batarian empire no longer exists. They were the first ones hit. There are some refugees on the citadel but thats about it.
@@OftenIAim They are a quest reward. And they are simillair in strenght to vanilla Aliance fleet.
The va for Anderson is also in mw2 as sgt. Foley
Damn didn't even think about that. That would've been an awesome game to play as Hackett before he became admiral

+Spiro Dra You're a fucking genius.
+Spiro Dra That was pretty awesome!
When the full fleet comes tearing through the Sol Relay it's only one of the more epic moments in video gaming history
THEY ANNOUNCED A NEW MASS EFFECT GAME WHICH CONTINUES FROM THIS ONE. WHO ELSE IS EXICTED

***** Eh, no, the only crashed ships on the moon are probes we smacked in there, as well as a few LEM ascent stages.
I'd like to think we'd get there soon one day too. But hell, we can't even stop bickering about the stupidest shit here on earth. Barely can band together enough to fund our science and explore our surrounding space. We need a great leader, like Shepard....
It had to do with the use of biotics bringing about the heat death of the galaxy faster.
*****
No we aren't.
I love the part at 4:59 where the Turian ship blasts a reaper tentacle off and an Alliance ship shoots off the one next to it
1:30 The Turians be like "No shit, all this you're talking about is standard procedure for us. Step up your game, humans."

That can be a ship, or the planet behind that ship. It might go off into deep space and hit somebody else in ten thousand years. If you pull the trigger on this, you're ruining someone's day, somewhere and sometime. That is why you check your damn targets! That is why you wait for the computer to give you a damn firing solution! That is why, Serviceman Chung, we do not "eyeball it!" This is a weapon of mass destruction. You are not a cowboy shooting from the hip!

MadPuppy92 Pretty much ;D
we have to assume that they didn't miss.
because considering the firepower thrown at the reapers, even if 5 to 10% of that initial volley missed, a sizeable portion of Earth's solid surface facing the battle would have been turned into glass.
After that concept being deemed important enough to be brought up in the series TWICE, once in a codex entry, and once in a conversation you happened across in the Citadel.
Ah well. Make an omelet, and all that.

Came here for this specifically after the disappointment that was Star Wars IX final battle.
too true, the reveal of the good guys fleet was so fucking poorly done too hahah.
StillGotShit4Brains it was so predictable
I'll bet the ME3 ending looks good in comparison.
Play EaW:FoC with good mods (Republic at War, Fall of the Republic or Thrawn's Revenge)
i mean theres no scene of all of them warping in, all of a sudden they are just there, like....okay thats very anticlimactic
This cutscene is probably where most of the budget for this game went, and you know what? I'm okay with that... :)
I personally would've been cool if they just took control away from me for a full 45 minutes to extend this battle. It feels way too short to me
This was the best part of ME3 for me.
Coming back after Mass Effect Remastered confirm. Can't wait to see this scene again.
