In the next cycle, those who build upon the ruins of Citadel space will wonder if Shepard and the Reapers were one and the same, or worse yet, if the Reapers were actually the good guys and Shepard is the one who destroys everything every 50,000 years. Hell, maybe one day, someone will build their own Zhu's Hope on Earth and wonder if the Shepard was the real destroyer all along.
So, Shepard and his friends are dead, Hackett’s ship is drifting uselessly in space, the survivors slowly starving to death with the sole condolence of knowing at least they “won” That’s a fucking dark ending, even darker than letting the Reapers win by shooting the star brat
This is a nice way for Bioware to encourage people to do side quests. "Do all these sidequests or everyone you care about will die..." *Proceeds to do ALL sidquests to ensure companions survival.

I felt like i definitely could use more stuff added to best ending, I don't think the time I spent scanning the entire galaxy was too wasted because I fucking love Shepard and it was the only way to save her. I don't see a way which will make me feel rewarded in the next installment of this series(which is my favorite of all time)
@@Storeenzo Honestly, I don't want Shepard(he/she) to be the main character. What would satisfy me the most will be, should your Shepard survive, you hear in the radio an ambigious report stating: "President Shepard of the Alliance signed ta ta.. bla bla" Just because he/she deserves to be president and be left the heck alone after 3 games
The funny thing about this ending is that Shepard does more damage and leaves galactic society in galaxy from in a worse state than even the reapers would have intended. He destroys the entire relay network effectively cutting off the entire galaxy from rachother while causing mass extinctions of both afavanced and primitive civiliations alike and sending them back to the stone ages.
I believe this is probably the only appropriate ending to Mass Effect. Shepard fires the fucking Halo rings. It's what i expected to happen when i heard about the crucible. I was suspicious of it from the start. And i thought the results might look something like this. So i like this ending a lot. It's tragic, it's brutal, it's sacrificial, it's genocidal. But it's still better than total extinction. And that scene with Hacket in the dark, lamenting about what this victory had cost for the galaxy. Good stuff. Thanks for showing this.
Agreed. And I say this as a fan of all the characters and the property too. My guess is that they toyed a lot with setting the minimum EMS score and probably thought about setting it a lot higher.
Damn... creepy Shepard out here showing Thanos how you really get the job done. And Bioware is just like "You want to speed run, eh? Well f**k you too!"
My first ending (because I played the third game first lol, how stupid of me). What always makes me sad is the thought that the whole galaxy is basically cut off from one another, and that now all species of galaxy should've basically re-develop everything from zero, as most of their technology are reaper-based. The cost of freedom is to lose all the luxury and convenient they have been enjoyed all those years.
On my first playthough unintentionally I got Zaeed, Jack, Miranda, Garrus (suicide mission), Mordin, Samara, Ash, Kaiden, Wrex, Grunt, Legion, Liara (end), Jacob, Javik (end), Edi (I can't remember how to spell her name), and Kasumi all killed. It was sad but hey at least Joker, Tali, and um yeah that's about it survived. I had to redo everything because I was really sad.
I read all the comments about Shepard's face before I actually watched the vid. When I saw the face I actually choked on my drink and couldn't stop laughing!!! XD
Ryan George’s Pitch Meeting: Writer: So Shepard is now back to Earth to fight the reapers. Executive: He’s gonna kill Harbinger and save the galaxy from the reapers? Writer: He will detonate the crucible from the citadel and killing everyone imaginable. Executive: OH MY GOD!
What we have is a confirmation that its Shepherd in the debris in the perfect ending. Watch the end of this video again, the guy moves the debris and only finds Shepherds helmet because he got vaporized
@@majormarketing6552 That's not Shepard's N7 helmet, it's a standard Alliance Marine helmet. Look above the visor of that and Shepard's helmet in any place that shows Shepard's helmet.
I actually like the fleet battle sequences especially the Crucible docking sequence, the music and action makes everything feel much more desperate and tense.
The absolutely worst ME endings are always the funniest.... I didn't even know that was POSSIBLE that your 2 final companions die. There is an effort to screw this THIS bad
Seriously, thank you for taking the time to do this, I would have never seen this ending if it weren't for you... I also wouldn't have nightmares about that hideous Sheppard if it weren't for you as well, but it was worth it. 👍
Its just occurred to me that if its possible for even a small amount of organics to survive a galaxy wide extinction event like this, then there are probably a few synths left in the good destroy ending as well
His face when he learns the best thing he can do is to not quite kill ALL intelligent life in the galaxy. All I can think of is Groundskeeper Willie in the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode where he gets repeatedly axed in the back, and at the last time he just "ugh, I'm bad at this.."
This is the most beautiful and tragic ending in the entire series. Forget the Reapers winning, forget control, or the better destroy endings, or synthesis, the Reaper War, to me, needed this sacrifice. This was the heart of mass effect, that no choice is perfect, that you either let the Reapers win because you fear what you might lose, or you sacrifice everything you know and love to end the cycle of extinction. A last extinction, initiated by you, to end all endings. This ending, to me, is Mass Effect.
So the cinematic battle of the fleets above Earth changes depending on your EMS score? I remember seeing that Turain ship blowing up from the inside in one of the trailers but didn't see it in any of my play-throughs of the game.

So, Shepard and his friends are dead, Hackett’s ship is drifting uselessly in space, the survivors slowly starving to death with the sole condolence of knowing at least they “won”
That’s a fucking dark ending, even darker than letting the Reapers win by shooting the star brat
At least the reapers are dead
Yeah at least there more alive in the galaxy in the refusal ending than the worst destroy ending, plus there's still hope
Joker: "Dammit, how many do we have to lose? Everyone-"
Could have just left it at that, honestly.
Your Shepard looks like he's ready to hunt some Smurfs.
This is a nice way for Bioware to encourage people to do side quests.
"Do all these sidequests or everyone you care about will die..."
*Proceeds to do ALL sidquests to ensure companions survival.
*proceeds to make more sidequests so no one dies again*
Yet they die anyway
I’ve done them all so many times they don’t feel like side quests
It makes sense, were I a game developer I'd be pissed if I put all that effort into a bunch of side quests that no one ever did
@@spacejesus6581 Yep Ikr
The saddest thing in this entire cutscene is 7:07, the way these two soldiers in particular die is the worst, everyone else sorta disappears like a Thanos snap
Shepard - "See, Sovereign, I actually agree with you. The thing is, I just want *you* to join us in oblivion."
2:00 this hurt me so much. I think the only time in the series that you see Garrus actually look scared
Congrats Cmdr. Shepard! You've just created a post-apocalyptic galaxy! You only had ONE JOB! At least, there might be some great Mad Max style battles between survivors. :P
And I spent all that time getting 5000 + EMS. This seems like the complete opposite of my campaign.
The Reaper : Congratulation Shepard... you've played yourself
The only survivor is Conrad Verner in this ending.
sometimes it pays to be a completionist when it comes to these kind of games
Always* pays
There is literally no reason to not be a completionist, not only do you experience everything the game has to offer...wait that's it, AND THATS ALL THE MOTIVATION YOU NEED
@@spacejesus6581 The only question you gotta ask yourself is whether it´s worth it. On the first playthrought, I complete everything, but on any subsequent ones, I usually just do things that influence the story directly.
@@jirkazalabak1514 did absolutely every single thing the trilogy had to offer on my first playthrough but on the rest I have a simple rule: if at the very least it gets a throwaway line of dialogue, i do it.
And cue Mass Effect Andromeda: the only hope for humanity is to colonize somewhere else and face that universe's version of reapers known as the Kett
Other RPG games: Skip the side quest and only do the main quest, still complete the game.
Mass Effect: Must do sidequest or everyone can die.
Noooo!!!! Javik can't die!
Generalkidd survives one reaper genocide just to get melted in the next one, talk about bad luck
Didn't expect to see you here
It’s okay, you’ll just hack the games files with the legendary edition and hide his pod
Wtf, hello generalkidd just got done watching some stuff of yours
Garrus: *holds hand out before death*
*Javik starring at ground* well, f*ck.
Damn man, now im REALLY glad i always do the sidequests, and i thought the "good" ending was depressing
Did you get the perfect one where Shepard draws breath and his/her love interest refuse to put his/her name on the wall?
Or the average one where shepard essentially sacrifces him/herself
@@Johnny-ny3ko He didn't reply, but I got the perfect ending. It only cost me my sanity after scanning the entire fucking galaxy and hear the "DUMMMMMM" voice of reapers every 2 minutes.
P.S : For anyone wondering, I got 8000+ war assets at the end
@@Storeenzo And for all that effort, was that piece of cutscene where he/she drew breath worth it?
or did you want a bigger payout for all that effort?
I sure do considering if you fuck up Tali's questline in ME2 you are locked from a Geth-Quarian peace which doesn't net you enough assets.
@@Johnny-ny3ko I finished the trilogy with best outcomes possible. I felt like i definitely could use more stuff added to best ending, I don't think the time I spent scanning the entire galaxy was too wasted because I fucking love Shepard and it was the only way to save her. However, since Bioware is in a great decline ; also add the fact they can't/won't make 2 separate main characters, Shepard will most likely be alive in the next game anyway. I don't see a way which will make me feel rewarded in the next installment of this series(which is my favorite of all time)
@@Storeenzo Honestly, I don't want Shepard(he/she) to be the main character.
What would satisfy me the most will be, should your Shepard survive, you hear in the radio an ambigious report stating: "President Shepard of the Alliance signed ta ta.. bla bla"
Just because he/she deserves to be president and be left the heck alone after 3 games
6:28 The sad music with this bad ending. Don't know about all of you, but I think it definitely hits the spot.
Holy crap, so those really are the last survivors. Most everyone else were disintegrated by the Crucible and they're no Mass Relays left.
2:00 That part should be censored.
Jose Suarez The look on Garrus's face "No, help me Shepard!"
Oink ards I swear my heart stopped when I first saw it. ;-;
+Jose Suarez I nearly cryed
Jose Suarez no we need to magnify the image
This whole ending should be censored
Damn... creepy Shepard out here showing Thanos how you really get the job done.
What species? This ugly Shepard just use deletegalaxy.exe and killed every machine\organic cell.
This is the best ending for me. Shepard brings almost everyone in the galaxy in hell with him. Hero and villain at the same time
On my first playthough unintentionally I got
Zaeed, Jack, Miranda, Garrus (suicide mission), Mordin, Samara, Ash, Kaiden, Wrex, Grunt, Legion, Liara (end), Jacob, Javik (end), Edi (I can't remember how to spell her name), and Kasumi all killed. It was sad but hey at least Joker, Tali, and um yeah that's about it survived. I had to redo everything because I was really sad.
I love how little Hackett narrates because everyone's dead.
I read all the comments about Shepard's face before I actually watched the vid. When I saw the face I actually choked on my drink and couldn't stop laughing!!! XD
well looks like shepard is going to hell for KILLING THE ENTIRE GALAXY
The music shift at 9:03 is the most terrifying thing ever
Ryan George’s Pitch Meeting:
Writer: So Shepard is now back to Earth to fight the reapers.
Executive: He’s gonna kill Harbinger and save the galaxy from the reapers?
Writer: He will detonate the crucible from the citadel and killing everyone imaginable.
Executive: OH MY GOD!
Killing everyone imaginable is tight!
That may have been a horrible ending, but at least we had one final flashback to the love of Shepard's life and Miranda.
That Shepard’s romance options were his left and right hands.
When Shepard is a bigger threat than the Reapers ever were
I actually like the fleet battle sequences especially the Crucible docking sequence, the music and action makes everything feel much more desperate and tense.
Honestly I kind of liked the Hackett speech part it made everything seem extremely dire that the sacrifice was great
The absolutely worst ME endings are always the funniest.... I didn't even know that was POSSIBLE that your 2 final companions die. There is an effort to screw this THIS bad
8:41 ~9:07 When you're trying to escape the friendzone......
Seriously, thank you for taking the time to do this, I would have never seen this ending if it weren't for you... I also wouldn't have nightmares about that hideous Sheppard if it weren't for you as well, but it was worth it. 👍
My first ever playthrough of this game, (I started straight from mass effect 3) I got this ending and I was so confused.
Hackett in this ending be like: "We knew this war would test us. We the chance of victory was slim... BUT JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
This was too funny. Shepard's face sums up the entire shit show of an ending xD
Both the galaxy and the reapers got what they wanted, good ending
Remember, someone created a butt-ugly Shepard and deliberately played the entire game as poorly as possible to give us this.
Why every time I see a mass effect ending do I have to see Garrus die?
tl;dr Good news: The Reapers are gone. Bad news: everyone is dead
Depends on your outlook, it could be "Good news: Everyone and everything is gone".
Its just occurred to me that if its possible for even a small amount of organics to survive a galaxy wide extinction event like this, then there are probably a few synths left in the good destroy ending as well
we did it shepard, we saved the galaxy!
Commander Shepard, the time has come. Execute order 666.
It will be done, my lord.
Thx internet for not letting me end with this ending.
Honor the ones who took that bullet for me.
Ah it’s okay. Miranda and Jacob will just patch everyone up again. 😭
this is the real ending in my book
🥃🔥
Plot twist:
5:03 Shepard: Spider!!! OMFG!!!!!! (bangbang bang bang bang...)
.
.
.
.
8:34 Shepard: Yeah...I think it's died now.
“We did it Patrick! We saved the galaxy!”
soon as i saw this guys face i just started roaring
If we can't win the battle, *then neither can they.*
This ending makes refusal seem like a blessing
Then again I suppose in this ending at least you take the reapers down with you
No more extinctions in the future. That's the positive part respect of refusal.
Thank god someone did it so I don't have to.
I never knew thar your squadmates could die running towards the space elevator
This is the most beautiful and tragic ending in the entire series. Forget the Reapers winning, forget control, or the better destroy endings, or synthesis, the Reaper War, to me, needed this sacrifice. This was the heart of mass effect, that no choice is perfect, that you either let the Reapers win because you fear what you might lose, or you sacrifice everything you know and love to end the cycle of extinction. A last extinction, initiated by you, to end all endings. This ending, to me, is Mass Effect.
Darth Casus This was also my perfect ending. it gave you a closure imo.
Isis ending!!!
You sold with that last quote "Mass Effect"
Darth Casus ESFJ...
Thing is all reapers ; catalyst and leviathans destroyed aswell. But life goes on in Andromeda.
So the cinematic battle of the fleets above Earth changes depending on your EMS score? I remember seeing that Turain ship blowing up from the inside in one of the trailers but didn't see it in any of my play-throughs of the game.
My heart took a hit when Joker mentioned that Grunt and Wrex died. BUt seeing Garrus hold out his hand actually broke it.
This is terrifying and depressing. At the same time.
