- In this video, I’ll show you how to make a LEATHER knife slip all on your own. This video is uncut and unedited. It is pretty long but you will be able to see exactly what I do and exactly how I do things with no surprises. I’ve had a lot of request for this video and I hope you all enjoy it and it’s helpful. #leather #leathersmith #leatherslip #knifeslip #slip #leathercraft #howto #customleather #leatherstamp #leatherdye #saddlestitch #richterknives #edc #edcknife
We can't go on together with suspicious minds. People laugh and sometimes make fun but Elvis was the man, very talented
The man for sure
I showed up for the makery, I stayed because you said slickity, and I liked and subscribed for all the eleventies.
🤣🤣
This is a quote straight from the KING himself…. Values are like fingerprints. Nobody’s are the same, but you leave ‘em all over everything you do. Keep up the awesome work my friend
Thanks bud!!!!
Not only was Elvis the most talented entertainer, but he was a caring
humanitarian who secretly did a lot of things for common people.
👍
Watched the entire show ... no skipping around here, im too fat to skip 😂 My dad loved Elvis. Used to get him something with Elvis every Christmas. He's gone now, you never really realize how much you can miss someone till it happens. Take care brother
Thanks!!
I made it through the whole video finally! Thanks for doing this man, I learned a few more tricks.
When Elvis danced on stage the ladies went crazy. 🤠
Elvis is the bomb. I have been dabbling with leather work, and I have learned so much from you tonight. Thank you.
Nice! Thanks for watching
Oh my goodness, I love this video!! I'm geeking out over this stuff! I might try that glue.. I use wood glue, works ok but I'm looking for something different. Thanks Michael! Good job on this! Good enough for government work... LOL!
Thanks for watching 👍👍 that glue has worked for me very well. No clamps 🗜️
Forest Gump teaching the King. Great video, keep up the good work🎸🎸🎸
Thanks!
Elvis holds the record for the most songs to chart in Billboard’s top 40. I lived in Memphis for 3 years, and while there I worked at Anna’s Steakhouse. The owner, Anna, went to school with Elvis. All of the walls were covered in pictures of Elvis, and we only played Elvis music in the restaurant. During the holidays, we only played Elvis Christmas music. I was only 15 when I started there as a busboy, but I quickly learned all of Elvis’s songs. Anna eventually sold the restaurant and is a tour guide at Graceland now. Pretty cool!
Wow! Great story. Thanks!
Yesssss it’s finally up The ”R” Premiere !!! 🎉 grabbing my popcorn 🍿 sitting 🪑 back and Learning leather work 😁👍
Thanks for watching, friend
An hour well spent. Always wanted to learn how to saddle-stitch. Now to get some tools and thread. Thanks Richter!

Great video. A lot of helpful tips in there. Thank you! No one better than the king!
👍
Wow! I thoroughly enjoyed watching the process of how it’s made. I just received my email today that my peach seed jig mahogany sod buster jr is in the way!! 🙌🏼. The king’s middle name is my first name lol. My top 3 favorite Elvis songs have to be: Devil in disguise, Suspicious minds and Can’t help falling in love. I appreciate the content 🙏🏼. Keep up the great work!
Thanks what I’m talking bout ol son! Thanks for watching all the way through 👍
@@richterknives Yes sir! I was about to eat my dinner and saw that you posted a new vid. So I popped open my box combo from Raising Canes and tuned in lol

Epic tutorial, Richter! My Sodbuster Jr. needs an Elvis leather suit!
👍
You do a really good job and Share you talent with everyone, that make you a really good person. Thank you very much. God bless you 🙏 .
Thank you and God bless you
Great video! Hail to the King!
Thanks for watching! 👊😎
Wow, this was fantastic, bro! I enjoyed every second of that! I use one of those metal half circle punches to shorten up leather wrist watch straps sometimes, in order to still retain the perfect circular strap end. And you're SOO right, man!...when I don't keep my holes straight...I can never get a date!!! 🤣🤣 Or make that a SECOND date hahaha!!! 🤣🤣
🤣 Don’t you hate when that happens?
Like that slip you made for you brother. Cool dog stamp. My mom loves Elvis he is the man, so I love em too
Thanks 😁😁
Took notes and now I’m ready. Thank you for making this video! 🙏
Nice!
I'm not a big fan of Elvis. Moma always told me if I didn't have anything nice to say, well, you know. I do like the fact that Elvis surved in the military and his moves didn't suck.
Great leather tutorial, i enjoyed it.
lol thanks man
Beautifully done Richter Elvis has beautiful hair!!!! 😊
Thanks buddy!
He is the king
I just saw Elvis the other day. Most people don't know this... but he's still alive. I swear!
👍
Thank you Michael, this was an amazing video. You taught me a lot, I’ve always wondered how you’ve done ✅ it and it’s awesome watching you do this. And I got too see you do the infamous “R” I saw that stamp and Hand Made stamp and I was like years it’s on like Donkey 🦍 Kong !!! Seriously, Thank You 🙏 you did a long video so I am very appreciative and you really did teach me a lot . Watching this whole thing and straight too my saved list. ❤️👍🙏
Awesome!!! Love this
Thanks for the lesson. Color me inspired. Will be going down to the “ Lobby of Hobbies “ soon. Elvis is timeless and if you don’t like Elvis…
That’s what I’m talking bout
Hell of a video bud. Im gonna follow your method and make one myself!
Your a full fledged leather smith already 😉
@richterknives I've never made one like that. And I learned some new things. That tool you have for cutting the half circle is 🔥🔥
Thanks for the upload, i know it was a lot of work.👌👍
@@MesserHQ that tool is so helpful.
As far as Elvis goes, my friend, my wife is from Miami and we live in my home state of Virginia. For me, Christmas time means voices like Bing Crosby and Thurl Ravenscroft. But, for my wife, the sound of the season is Elvis' Blue Christmas.
👊
FINALLY🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉!!!!!
I know, right?!?! It took forever to upload
Aint nothin but a hound dog . That would be cool for my sod buster :) .
👊😎
Hunk-a hunk-a burning 🔥Looovvveee … “Elvis is thee man” Come on baby Sodbuster needs me a new Handmade “R” !!!! 🙏🙏🙏😁😁😁

That’s what I’m talking bout! Let me know if you need help! 👍
KNICE! The king of rock n roll was also an honorably discharged Us Army Sergeant.
💯
Thanks for the video. I have been making my own slips for 2 years now. Learned a couple things. Thanks again.
Nice! Thanks for watching and for the feedback!
I thank u for teaching everyone how to make a knife case it was very educated I like your video and would like to learn more
Thanks bud!
Richter great video! Elvis is one of my favorite artists of all time! I’ve been to his home in Memphis Tennessee for a tour! The song “welcome to my world “ is the song they play while your on the bus entering the gates of Graceland! Here is a fun fact about Elvis.. a young girl with her parents told Elvis that she liked his ring , Elvis being the kind spirit that he was .. took off a VERY VERY expensive diamond ring and handed it to her and said now it’s yours!
Nice!
I know I’m late on this one but Elvis’ favorite sandwich was peanut butter, bacon, and banana! Thanks for the video brother. Gonna try to make one of these soon for my cases!
Holla atcha boy if you have any questions 😉 thanks for watching
Great video. Been thinking about trying my hand at leather work. Listened to Elvis growing up, definitely an icon.

I think it could be!! 🤣 I’m glad your motivated to do it
Now I know how intricate you have to be for this type of work, plus some artistry, great job and thanks for the vid. Did you know when Elvis visited Nixon in the White House, He was wearing a gun, thats cool!
Elvis was the man
Hunky hunky burning love 😊
👊
Cool
👊
Elvis was a true legend. Need to watch the recent film about him. This was brilliant Richter!! Really enjoyed this, and Im sure it will inspire a lot people to give it a go. If I had more time I definitely would. Cheers 🍻
Thanks for the feedback!
Elvis had great taste in carpet!
👍
I’m heading to Hobby Lobby to grab the last of the supplies. Thank you very much for the tutorial man. I found your channel through Doody. Cheers! Happy New Year!!
Nice!
Use sheep whool to apply dies evenly and then when it dries use another piece to buff the color nice and even!
Thanks
Great video Michael, I had to stop watching for about 5 minutes @57:52 though because I was laughing so hard! You should have been a teacher...
🤣 lol thanks man
Elvis was the King of rock n roll.
💯
Great video, thank you Richter 👍
Is 5-6oz leather the correct size?
Do you have a preferred thread size? You mentioned 0.8mm… on Rocky Mountain they mostly have .6, .8, 1, and 1.2 size.
27:00 do you normally cut that thread grove into the back as well? I see-probably because you have to punch the holes through.
“Because I like to party” 🤣
I actually live in the town where Elvis was born
Thanks again Richter.
4-5oz is perfect. I don’t cut the groove I. The back because it’s hard to get just right when you poke the holes.
Not sure how you’re gonna choose a winner for the slip but if I may…. I’d like to throw in a vote for @Aaronrjasso.
Gonna have my daughter scroll the comments and randomly put her finger on the winner as it’s scrolling. Whoever it stops on is gonna get it. I’m give a little time so folks can watch this and have a chance
Appreciate that bud! You have my vote as well 👊🏼. That’s a great quote by the King that you mentioned.
Great video, thank you. The only thing that would make it better was if I had a peanut butter, banana, and bacon sandwich dressed with a touch of honey. Elvis knew his sandwiches.
😁😁😁
His number 1 song was in the ghetto and he died 5 miles from my house in Maine
Viva Las Vegas. 😀
👍
Mr.Richter where is it that you suggest getting the kit from? Sounds like you say Evil Base or Evil Bays but I’m guessing it’s eBay haha. I appreciate you showing your process… really contemplating trying to make a slip myself since I just bought 2 Sodbuster Jrs.
eBay 🤣
He sure was a hound dog, with the peanut butter and banana sammiches
💯
Great video! What thickness of leather do you use?
Thanks! 4-5oz is good
Thanks for sharing the tips! Did you make that leather holder (for sewing the slip) by yourself? Regardless appreciate it bud!
I bought it on eBay 👍
🙂
👊😎
Can you make them with a belt loop on the back to wear on the belt
Hound Dog rules
💯
Can you make them with a belt loop on the back to wear on the belt 1:10:07
A little less conversation, a little more action, please! Great lesson
Thanks!! 😎
Hello, ...what oz / weight/ thickness leather is that, or which would you recommend ?
5oz
@@richterknives Thank you very much, I plan on making one soon.
I’m looking around for these tools you need but I can’t find a good USA made kit that has what’s needed. You have a link or a seller you got yours from? Would like to support us makers if possible

@@richterknives thanks!
peanut butter, naners, and bacon....
Yessir!!
How come you don't die the interior to match the exterior? Ann-Margret (!!!) and Tuesday Weld (!!!) used to visit Elvis at Graceland.
This was just a quick throw together slip for the video. It went over an hour so I didn’t really have time to let all that dye dry. That’s why I put a super thin coat on it to make it look rustic
Do u make them with belt loops on them to wear on a belt
I don’t but I can for more $
@@richterknives how much are they with belt loop
No poo hands!! Hahaahhaha
🤣
well now i have a piece of leather stuck to my elbow and i can't find my knaf...
Sounds like me! 🤣
haha @@richterknives
Elvis is king
👊😎
what thickness of leather do you use?
never mind lol my country ass just read the below question you answered ....
🤣
Elvis still alive ..suspicious minds
😎
Elvis is the king
Sure is
What weight leather?
This was about a 4-5oz.
I went to graceland,i pulled the clutch on his harley and an alarm went off, security guard told me to dont touch anything.
🤣
Huh. I thought 'Richter' knives were German?
🇺🇸
Can you make them with a belt loop on the back to wear on the belt
I can but it’ll cost more. Shoot me a DM on Instagram
Im just asking price right now till i decide the knife i want to carry in it
I may carry my case folding hunter in it
