The performance level of Odin 2 is already more than enough to handle all available Android emulators. Not to mention that its value is overwhelming in its range of activities. The AYA Neo Procket S is more premium but costs a lot more, plus the battery is 25% smaller in comparison. A 1440p screen for emulation only helps consume more battery and produce more heat and doesn't deliver much visual difference within 6 inches
alot more where my guy? the odin 2 pro "which most people are going for" costs 369 dollars.. the pocket s early bird is currently going for 400 dollars.. that's 8.5% more only.. now, if it's 8.5% more valuable is up for debate. i personally think it is for the quality, if it is as premium as it looks.
eh we dont care. We want the pocket s. I say this as someone who owns all of ayns devices Ayn just doesnt provide the same premium feel that ayaneo does to their devices
I would still take Odin 2 over this. Running at 1440p is unnecessary at this size, and will require extra power from the AyaNeo's smaller battery. The only benefit that I see is if you want to connect this to a monitor or TV. (it has a really beautiful design though)
No reason to. Odin 2 will outperform it pretty much forever. The small bump in processing is massively offset by the glass and metal thin construction. She thermal throttles pretty bad. Still overpowered, but compared to other offerings it falls short.
@@Healthy_Toki It is. Cheaper, bigger battery, newer hardware around the core, less fragile, and no thermal throttling created by dumbfuck glass and metal construction while trying to be extra thin in a gaming handheld. It's a great premium attempt, but it falls short.

There's a huge difference in the Benchmark Monitor section of Antutu between the 2 devices at 11:20 in regards to temperature and battery drain; and they appear to have been benchmarked using different versions of the v10 Beta (probably with the newer version changing how the benchmark stresses the device, I'd imagine). For one thing, the Pocket S drained by 19% battery, and the Odin only drained by 3% during the benchmark. Secondly, the temperature curve for the benchmark look *completely* different (with the Pocket S more closely resembling the rough shape of my Z Fold 2 running the same version). Edit: fixed a typo
This costs around 484 usd here in the Ph for the 16/1TB version (1080p; with case, thumb caps, and tempered glass) while the Odin 2 pro 12/256 costs around 394 usd without accessories. Considering that you would probably buy a microsd for the odin 2 (a 1TB costs around 100 usd here) plus a case and tempered glass (around 15 usd total), the Pocket S seems the better deal here
Oh man this device is beautiful. I have a Steam Deck but really considering getting this device for pocketability and awesome performance. thanks for the review
@@arturoarturo2570 Somebody might make it happen unofficially sooner rather than later, but as far as it being useful, I doubt we'll see "good enough" performance on phones or handhelds like this one unless the ecosystem matures and native apps become widely available. Hey man, can you show it running Winlator with some games?? It's such an awesome handheld. I don't think it's high-priced like others think, because you get a lot for what you pay for. A phone with similar specs would be like 1100+! The GPU in that thing is crazy! Awesome video!
Really want to see something like this with a lower end Intel/AMD chip like the N100 and SteamOS. Handhelds have been all about performance, and we're losing some of the ergonomics/portability that the Pocket S brings. Android just isn't enough for me.
This is what i want to see on these handheld devices, ANDROID! It just makes much more sense than trying to put windows on it. Mobile games are getting really good. I love playing Warzone mobile, Diablo immortal, Fortnite etc., on the go without having to be tied to a charger after less than a hour of gaming. I own a steam deck and i only used it a few times before it went back in the box for good. The battery life was 1 hour or less and the experience just wasnt great. If they just focused on making devices that can run mobile games really good, i think it'll sell better than the windows devices.
the problem with the steam deck is that lot of game don't run well under 1080p and aren't supported for that reason, especailly because of "small text". so it misses a little something for theses handhelp to run pc games properly, meanwhile this device is awesome to play retrogames
If this ends up with a nice rear grip case and a magnetic snap-on protector for the entire front of the device (protects buttons and sticks in your pocket or bag), then I might actually consider the price premium over the Odin 2 for the slightly better GPU and screen and "higher-end" Android games.

It is overkill to own a Deck and Ally, but since the Deck might be too weak for FF16, I might as well get an Ally if it’s dirt cheap. And I do need a Windows device again to do certain things I can’t on Linux. Ally X seems to be a battery life upgrade which is needed as who wants to keep playing AAA games for only one hour? But I wonder how much? It might go up in price like the Deck OLED did. While a used original Ally will have a fire sale on OfferUp and can be bought for under $300 this summer after the Ally X gets released. Wait after June 2 to see last year’s Ally selling for dirt cheap on OfferUp. Just make sure you’re getting the Z1 Extreme. I honestly don’t know if getting a Windows PC handheld with Z1 Extreme is worth it though? Yeah, it’s more powerful than any version of the Steam Deck, but it’s not like the PS5 era has brought a ton of games for us to play. I feel AAA titles died with the PS4. The first AAA title was the OG FF7. Then AAA titles died after the FF7 remakes. Who has time to wait that long for AAA titles? FF7 Rebirth’s sales are disappointing for a few reasons. This game should have NOT been a PS5 exclusive in the first place. More people owned a PS4 in 2020 than a PS5 in 2024. But what softens that argument is Rebirth is selling less than FF16 from last year. So it’s not solely because it’s a PS5 exclusive. The other reason is maybe it is tough to market a direct sequel and not everyone loved Remake with some divisive narrative choices they made? I’m currently trying to plat Remake on the Deck and it can be quite tedious running through hallways. Hence, why I still prefer the OG. It flowed better as a game and it’s easier to pick up and play without thinking too hard. Can spam the buttons. Remake’s battle system can be quite fun but I can understand some fans from the OG who didn’t like Remake not liking it’s very complicated nature dealing with stagger and ATB fill ups. A lot of gamers who played the OG have become more casual with games. They got families to raise. No time figuring out some complex battle system. It’s a shame too because I really do want to play Rebirth but refuse to buy a PS5. My favorite part from the OG was Disc 2 when the characters finally left Midgar. But what can we do? Square made a few errors like making it a PS5 exclusive and some gameplay/narrative changes that didn’t sit well for some OG fans. Is having the power close to the base PlayStation 5 while on the go even worth it anymore if this 9th generation has killed AAA titles for good? What’s the point? Those AAA titles are getting way too expensive like making a blockbuster movie and they take too long to wait on them. There’s this overstatement that we’re experiencing a crash. No, we are not. The video game industry is far larger than it was back in 1983 when the Atari 2600 dominated homes. The future for console gaming are PC handhelds that can also be docked to a TV or monitor. We’re not heading into a crash. It’s not all gloom and doom. No games will be buried into a New Mexico desert. We own too many games we would probably never ever play. It’s 2024 and I haven’t enjoyed playing video games this much since my PS1 days. Forget PS2, my PS1 days from 1996-2002 when I beat dozens of PS1 games. While gamers have complained about the lack of good games from this gen, we are currently living in the greatest era of portables/handhelds. We’ve come a long way since the Game & Watch and Tiger Electronics handhelds prior to Game Boy. It amazes me how a Switch Lite can be that small but have more power than a PS3 and Wii U. It started to get good for us by 2017 thanks to the Switch and emulation started getting really good by 2019 and good on Android by 2021. Why would I want to go back to the 80s through 00s for my handhelds? PC handhelds are closer to the specs of the bigger home consoles. Anyhoo, long live the Steam Deck. Going to play my games now. I’ll get the Deck 2 when it arrives. The Switch 2 will be my secondary handheld behind the Deck 2. Only used for Nintendo titles. Then I’ll have a Windows PC handheld for the sake of having more power and having a Windows PC again. But I’ll always remember my first Steam Deck fondly for changing my life. Greatest handheld I’ve ever owned.
So is Switch emulation dead? I know emulators are being taken down left and right but I'm sure there's a few out there that have to work. I literally would probably only buy this to play GameCube and switch games.
How is the battery life compared to Logitech G Cloud while streaming games? I'm not (yet) that much into emulation, but I'm trying to justify Pocket S for myself :D
Respectfully i would love to meet a super human capable of seeing the difference in pixel densit ybetwen 1080p and 1440p on a tiny 6" display with the same specs regardless the resoluton. This guy would definitely be a real life Legolas. 😂

the poors are out! Excited to receive mine. Love my odin lite and odin 2 but it feels cheap and too bulky compared to this which i held in my hands at tech conference almost a year ago. This is the level of premium Ive been waiting for in an android handheld, and this is coming from someone who games on a Z Fold 5
This thing looks amazing I really dig the design but I can't justify the cost when I have a phone that can do the same albeit not as convenient with a built in controller. I would use this for emulation and streaming from my PC. Android gaming is just no good.
The AyaNeo Flip DS should have been an Android handheld, it would be slimmer and a great 3DS & DS emulator with great battery. Windows is so overkill, has no utility for the dual screen and battery is definitely a downside. I'm glad I got a New 3DS XL for that purpose
Until we see 360 and ps3 emulators ported to android we have reached peak android emulation. Been able to emulate gamecube pretty well since my galaxy s8 which is what, 7 years ago? , maybe not at 10x resolution...but who the hell needs that on a handheld. Sure, a device like this might even be able to emulate 360/ps3 when those emulators eventually arrive, but handhelds with this power will be budget handhelds by then. Absolutely no point spending so much on an android device unless youre wanting to play 4k on your tv. But then you could just use any of your android phones from the last 5 years if you had a fairly decent one.
Why bother showing a geekbench comparison using two different versions of the app that are outdated when v6.3 has been out in the play store for a month and the Odin 2 showing a previously run benchmark from February when its had two OTA's since then?
I saw warzone on your homescreen. Is this working? On my retroid pocket 4 pro I had to root the device… but ordered the ayaneo pocket S and hope it Will work!
I ordered a 16/512G 1080p one, but I am concerned about how would I open this up to clean the cooling fan and heat sink when it eventually gets clogged. From my experience, all cooling fans need to be cleaned periodically for optimal performance.
For that price i would rather get the Steam Deck.. AMD CPU vs ARM CPU, Android vs Custom arch based linux OS. Not to mention all the support documents on steam deck already out there and compatibility.
I'm looking to transform my old smartphone into a streaming gaming device, for like spme gamepass, and retrogaming, do you know an OS made for gaming i can use, like an équivalent of chimera os but for android?
At this point people......idk if I'm still exited for this kind of product To exist like it's not like the games developer will give a special privileged for people with this product on their hands and there's not really that much games on android that feel great with native controller support...like most of fps or racing genre games cause they aren't really make the game to be super precise for control your brake ir throttle and not really have that much help of using controller if you can't even focus and looked for the enemy in 6 / 7 inch screen... it's a great product but lack of special privileges and optimization like console/ even iphone but a monstrous portable emulation game on the go
The Odin 2 Killer. Higher price, thermal throttling, smaller battery, older accessory hardware(sticks, buttons), missing software at lunch despite being ANDROID. Lol, swing and a miss, then the bat they swung flew off and killed grandma.
Can someone please explain the difference between this handheld specific Chip and a normal smartphone chip? Can I compare it to what AMD did with the Z extreme and 7840u?

I love the era we’re living in now with handhelds like the Deck.
$500? Oh my. I didn't expect that. Why wouldn't someone just get a Steam Deck OLED at that price?
you should try winlator since you like to test emulators
Getting some Retroid Pocket vibed seeing the design.
Just give me the Odin 2 or RG556 design.
There is no other device that looks like this and the rp4 is literally a clone of the switch Looks nothing like this.
So is Switch emulation dead? I know emulators are being taken down left and right but I'm sure there's a few out there that have to work. I literally would probably only buy this to play GameCube and switch games.
Design so cool❤
By the time this review video dropped... AYA-Neo Already presenting...
AYA Neo Pocket Evo...
7" inch Oled screen Android Handheld...
🙃🤣🧐🤯
I don't know about you guys, but those temps on the cpu and gpu are quite worrying if you ask me. Watch the Genshin Impact temps for example..
Gorgeous industrial design
No switch emulation performance? its the only thing that matters with this power.
does it have input lag when you using emulation?
Still waiting on an update on Winlator
Can you at least confirm if the issues with the switch games from before were fixed?
Could you try and play some games on winulator on this puppy, this new gpu has me excited
announcement of a new portable machine next week called "ayaneo pocket micro"🙄😂
Man, I love the ascetics of this thing but i just can't justify the price.
you should test warzone mobile as it is also a heavy title
Android really needs to get some ps3/xbox 360 emulators that can take advantage of these new powerful machines.
With this channel everything that comes out is always the best looking, the best mini pc, the best everything xD smh
How is the battery life compared to Logitech G Cloud while streaming games?
I'm not (yet) that much into emulation, but I'm trying to justify Pocket S for myself :D
Stick to the G cloud - it's the most efficient device for streaming and the display is in the upper class.
Respectfully i would love to meet a super human capable of seeing the difference in pixel densit ybetwen 1080p and 1440p on a tiny 6" display with the same specs regardless the resoluton.
This guy would definitely be a real life Legolas. 😂
I like that the Pocket S looks like a giant iPhone 5 with controls.
Simply out of my price range for what it is, but i would still love to have one.
1440p is not available anymore
It is for me
4k60fps is available bro
They mean the device options on indiegogo. I'm seeing only the 1080p version, not the 1440p that ETA Prime has in the video
Yeah. If 1440p is all gone I’ll wait for the next iteration then
1440 is totally unnecessary at 6". You're just wasting battery for nothing. There's zero visual difference between 1080p and 1440p at that size.
can we please have a pocket S build quality and materials and form factor in the steam deck size?
Why you don't try Grid Autosport and Warzone Mobile gameplay?
Can you just use it to watch tv apps its got alot of storage and a good screen 🤔😅
$400 bucks…😮 to pricey
But i think its a good deal compare to other gaming phones
Steam deck is crying rn
Until you compare to prices of phones nowadays. I think phones cost too much considering what they do
Indeed you can buy a steam deck at the same price refurbish and play all those emulator and native PC version
Hay long time viewer of ur channel me an my wife watch every video can u please please answer 1 question is the google play store verified so we are able to play warzone mobile genshin impact ect thank u so much keep up the good work 😊
Does it have bypass charging?
snapdragon x lite (x series) in handhel woow hope
the poors are out! Excited to receive mine. Love my odin lite and odin 2 but it feels cheap and too bulky compared to this which i held in my hands at tech conference almost a year ago. This is the level of premium Ive been waiting for in an android handheld, and this is coming from someone who games on a Z Fold 5
12:00 OMG 80-85C. 100% CPU is cooled from the screen like in AYN odin 2. It can't be such temperature if the processor is connected to a heatsink.
This thing looks amazing I really dig the design but I can't justify the cost when I have a phone that can do the same albeit not as convenient with a built in controller. I would use this for emulation and streaming from my PC. Android gaming is just no good.
I hope you test displayout to monitor with yuzu emulator test naruto storm connection and jujutsu kaisen very cool
These are things that generate needs that you didn't know you had 😂
AyaNeo Pocket S looks surprisilly good handheld gaming android, but i'm more interested of AyaNeo Flip DS as a DS and 3DS owner. 😊
It's an Android device, not a PC.
@@TheSixthSLoT oh sorry I forgot that. Android diveces are good too as an android phone and tablet user
The AyaNeo Flip DS should have been an Android handheld, it would be slimmer and a great 3DS & DS emulator with great battery. Windows is so overkill, has no utility for the dual screen and battery is definitely a downside. I'm glad I got a New 3DS XL for that purpose
@@fdmazlum i agree. It would have been an instant buy for me if they shipped it with android
Glorified Gaming phone with none detachable controller
Can you maybe try winlator on this and see how many games you can get running on it
Great review. Thank you.
Might try to grab one second hand, this is exactly the kind of android handheld I was looking for.
Serious try winlator on this
I ordered a 16/512G 1080p one, but I am concerned about how would I open this up to clean the cooling fan and heat sink when it eventually gets clogged.
Linux is gross, much worse battery.
This is such a overkill for android, hope to see a windows version
The analog sticks are a bit of a deal breaker for me on this one.
I'm looking to transform my old smartphone into a streaming gaming device, for like spme gamepass, and retrogaming, do you know an OS made for gaming i can use, like an équivalent of chimera os but for android?
...I DUNNO.....ORDERED THIS TO KINDA BE ABLE TO NOT PLAY ON MAIN PHONE
......BUT.. *_WHY YOU HAVENT TESTED BOTW_*
waiting for a snapdragon elite chip in something like this.
Do we know the refresh rate on this screen? I want a machine for emulation but id like to run cod at 120..
No sim or esim is a fail
Come on bro, do you really wanna make phone calls in a gaming handheld???
@@hasith04 😂
@@hasith04 so you only want to play online games in places with wifi
hold on bruh, cant hear you with this thumbstick in my ear.
@@nonecool underrated comment!!
At this point people......idk if I'm still exited for this kind of product To exist like it's not like the games developer will give a special privileged for people with this product on their hands and there's not really that much games on android that feel great with native controller support...like most of fps or racing genre games cause they aren't really make the game to be super precise for control your brake ir throttle and not really have that much help of using controller if you can't even focus and looked for the enemy in 6 / 7 inch screen... it's a great product but lack of special privileges and optimization like console/ even iphone but a monstrous portable emulation game on the go
How hot does it get playing COD mobile. If you have had a chance to try it yet. If possible
PS Vita form factor with AMD Z1 power is going to be my for life handheld. Enough power for games released before 2020 @ 720p
They send out 1440p display for review but only have 1080p available lol
No dpad input? Count me output
can you please do a winlator performance test
AyaNeo is going to regret releasing too many models too soon. This shit must be a nightmare to support. It doesn't inspire confidence at all.
would like to see some Nintendo switch emation, like yuzu and eggns emulator
He doesn't want to be exposed to Nintendo's lawyers.
Love the look, hate the price. Ayaneo makes way too many products. There's competing in the space, and then there's just oversaturating it.
Almost looks like a phone. If they had slide controls so you could just make it into a regular phone; then it probably appeal to a wider market
Lol i wish u would've atleast showed the controller mapping part for the android games and the d-pad mapping as well smh
I’ll save my money for the new ROG Ally X
Can we use other android OS with this ??
Shall we we add a sim card slot and triple sales?
....nah.
Wow!
Will The AYANEO Pocket S Play On The TV If It Does How
The Odin 2 Killer.
400$ just to play? At least the Steam deck and aly rog can transform into a real computer.
