The performance level of Odin 2 is already more than enough to handle all available Android emulators. Not to mention that its value is overwhelming in its range of activities. The AYA Neo Procket S is more premium but costs a lot more, plus the battery is 25% smaller in comparison. A 1440p screen for emulation only helps consume more battery and produce more heat and doesn't deliver much visual difference within 6 inches

I love the Steam Deck. I practically use it every day or almost every day. When I leave the house, it’s usually my iPhone SE and Steam Deck that goes with me. While I do love my Vita slim and Switch Lite, I don’t always have the urge to play them. Since getting the Steam Deck back in February, I gamed more these last three months than my previous 15 years. I already have over 120 hours playing Final Fantasy VII Remake. Add another 30 hours for Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and another 40 hours for Shenmue III. I’m currently trying to platinum FF7 Remake but I heard recently from a TH-camr that trying to plat Rebirth is a nightmare! Not worth it he said. He said it took him over 200 hours to plat Rebirth while Remake was only around 70. And the level of difficulty goes way beyond hard mode and with tedious mini games. Once I get Rebirth for Steam which could be by 2026, I will not attempt to go plat for it. I actually don’t believe getting plat for Remake is really worth it either. It’s to feed my ego. I didn’t grow up during the trophy era. Once I beat a game and saw the end credits, I was done with it. I don’t want to waste another 50 hours on that game. Since I already have 56/63 achievements for FF7 Remake Intergrade, I might as well complete them all to get my first platinum trophy for any game. The six tasks I have left for getting plat on Remake….. Hit every big box (Materia Mavern) Complete hard mode for the base game Complete hard mode for the DLC Beat Ultimate Weapon Beat Ultimate Weapon 2.0 Beat Weiss I will probably save Weiss and the Pride & Joy ones last. Still only have 7 of the 18 levels completed on hard mode for the base game. And none for Yuffie’s yet. After I’m done getting platinum for FF7RI, I may attempt to go plat for Shenmue III. I’m reading it’s easier and only takes about 30 hours to go plat. Something about playing Final Fantasy VII and Shenmue games that I’m so familiar with, it’s like being at home and doing chores. The OG FF7 and Shenmue II on Dreamcast and Xbox are my top 2 favorite games of all-time. Their music has this great ambiance when playing them. As disappointing of an ending and story that Shenmue III had, it might actually have the smoothest gameplay of the trilogy. The mini games are funner. No annoying walking on a catwalk/plank like in Shenmue II where if you fall, you need to completely go back to the start. After I plat Shenmue III, I will probably play Uncharted 4 next. I still have hours and hours to play on the Deck. I’ll probably have over 1000 hours playing video games before the year is over if I already played 200 hours for it after three months. From 2008-2020, I doubt I accumulated 1000 hours from playing video games. I usually play my Deck for about an hour or two almost daily. Then sometimes more when I get home while it’s charging. It’s also great for watching Pluto TV if I’m too tired to play games. I’m trying to go plat on FF7RI but I’m doing so at a leisurely pace. No rush. I no longer have that OCD or huge ego to care if I go plat or not. *ROG* *Ally* *X* What do you think of it? Just seems like new hardware for TH-camrs to talk about but is it really that exciting? My excitement actually comes from getting the first Ally used for $250 like I did for my 512 GB LCDeck. I’m determined to get an Ally with Z1 Extreme for only $250. But of course, I still hate Asus. Never had a great experience with that Taiwanese company. I’m aware how people’s microSD cards gets ruined from the Ally but I have no intention putting one in it. I’ll only be using the internal storage and don’t plan putting a lot of games on it. I actually prefer the Legion Go but if I see an Ally for dirt cheap, I’ll get it. It’s smaller too. It is overkill to own a Deck and Ally, but since the Deck might be too weak for FF16, I might as well get an Ally if it’s dirt cheap. And I do need a Windows device again to do certain things I can’t on Linux. Ally X seems to be a battery life upgrade which is needed as who wants to keep playing AAA games for only one hour? But I wonder how much? It might go up in price like the Deck OLED did. While a used original Ally will have a fire sale on OfferUp and can be bought for under $300 this summer after the Ally X gets released. Wait after June 2 to see last year’s Ally selling for dirt cheap on OfferUp. Just make sure you’re getting the Z1 Extreme. I honestly don’t know if getting a Windows PC handheld with Z1 Extreme is worth it though? Yeah, it’s more powerful than any version of the Steam Deck, but it’s not like the PS5 era has brought a ton of games for us to play. I feel AAA titles died with the PS4. The first AAA title was the OG FF7. Then AAA titles died after the FF7 remakes. Who has time to wait that long for AAA titles? FF7 Rebirth’s sales are disappointing for a few reasons. This game should have NOT been a PS5 exclusive in the first place. More people owned a PS4 in 2020 than a PS5 in 2024. But what softens that argument is Rebirth is selling less than FF16 from last year. So it’s not solely because it’s a PS5 exclusive. The other reason is maybe it is tough to market a direct sequel and not everyone loved Remake with some divisive narrative choices they made? I’m currently trying to plat Remake on the Deck and it can be quite tedious running through hallways. Hence, why I still prefer the OG. It flowed better as a game and it’s easier to pick up and play without thinking too hard. Can spam the buttons. Remake’s battle system can be quite fun but I can understand some fans from the OG who didn’t like Remake not liking it’s very complicated nature dealing with stagger and ATB fill ups. A lot of gamers who played the OG have become more casual with games. They got families to raise. No time figuring out some complex battle system. It’s a shame too because I really do want to play Rebirth but refuse to buy a PS5. My favorite part from the OG was Disc 2 when the characters finally left Midgar. But what can we do? Square made a few errors like making it a PS5 exclusive and some gameplay/narrative changes that didn’t sit well for some OG fans. Is having the power close to the base PlayStation 5 while on the go even worth it anymore if this 9th generation has killed AAA titles for good? What’s the point? Those AAA titles are getting way too expensive like making a blockbuster movie and they take too long to wait on them. There’s this overstatement that we’re experiencing a crash. No, we are not. The video game industry is far larger than it was back in 1983 when the Atari 2600 dominated homes. The future for console gaming are PC handhelds that can also be docked to a TV or monitor. We’re not heading into a crash. It’s not all gloom and doom. No games will be buried into a New Mexico desert. We own too many games we would probably never ever play. It’s 2024 and I haven’t enjoyed playing video games this much since my PS1 days. Forget PS2, my PS1 days from 1996-2002 when I beat dozens of PS1 games. While gamers have complained about the lack of good games from this gen, we are currently living in the greatest era of portables/handhelds. We’ve come a long way since the Game & Watch and Tiger Electronics handhelds prior to Game Boy. It amazes me how a Switch Lite can be that small but have more power than a PS3 and Wii U. It started to get good for us by 2017 thanks to the Switch and emulation started getting really good by 2019 and good on Android by 2021. Why would I want to go back to the 80s through 00s for my handhelds? PC handhelds are closer to the specs of the bigger home consoles. Anyhoo, long live the Steam Deck. Going to play my games now. I’ll get the Deck 2 when it arrives. The Switch 2 will be my secondary handheld behind the Deck 2. Only used for Nintendo titles. Then I’ll have a Windows PC handheld for the sake of having more power and having a Windows PC again. But I’ll always remember my first Steam Deck fondly for changing my life. Greatest handheld I’ve ever owned.
That is my perfect form factor . Once hardware like the generation of APU's 3 years from now or version 2/3 of the Snapdragon X elite release , then i will be happy if PC gaming can fit in cases this size . Then they can make extra money selling extension cases that make it the size of current ALLY and SteamDeck , like a case swap that increases size of screen and battery.
This costs around 484 usd here in the Ph for the 16/1TB version (1080p; with case, thumb caps, and tempered glass) while the Odin 2 pro 12/256 costs around 394 usd without accessories. Considering that you would probably buy a microsd for the odin 2 (a 1TB costs around 100 usd here) plus a case and tempered glass (around 15 usd total), the Pocket S seems the better deal here
Hey man, can you show it running Winlator with some games?? It's such an awesome handheld. I don't think it's high-priced like others think, because you get a lot for what you pay for. A phone with similar specs would be like 1100+! The GPU in that thing is crazy! Awesome video!
If this ends up with a nice rear grip case and a magnetic snap-on protector for the entire front of the device (protects buttons and sticks in your pocket or bag), then I might actually consider the price premium over the Odin 2 for the slightly better GPU and screen and "higher-end" Android games.
I was really excited about this thing until they announced it was going to have IPS and then, that price… lmao. Now I’m gonna wait until this thing costs $200, or the next similar thing with AMOLED gets released at a reasonable price.
Really want to see something like this with a lower end Intel/AMD chip like the N100 and SteamOS. Handhelds have been all about performance, and we're losing some of the ergonomics/portability that the Pocket S brings. Android just isn't enough for me.
the problem with the steam deck is that lot of game don't run well under 1080p and aren't supported for that reason, especailly because of "small text". so it misses a little something for theses handhelp to run pc games properly, meanwhile this device is awesome to play retrogames
the poors are out! Excited to receive mine. Love my odin lite and odin 2 but it feels cheap and too bulky compared to this which i held in my hands at tech conference almost a year ago. This is the level of premium Ive been waiting for in an android handheld, and this is coming from someone who games on a Z Fold 5
I had reserved a 1440p model on the launch day of the Indiegogo campaign but then I canceled it and I'm glad I did. It's just too big of a compromise in all departments - price/performance, ergonomics etc.

Very nice looking device but I will stick with my Odin 2. The extra power means nothing when the emulation situation has max out currently at ps2, GC, Wii and mid size switch games for Android. Until till the software side of emulation moves forward, most new devices more powerful than snapdragon gen 2 will go un use powers wise and becomes pointless.
So is Switch emulation dead? I know emulators are being taken down left and right but I'm sure there's a few out there that have to work. I literally would probably only buy this to play GameCube and switch games.
Pocket-ability and battery life. I have a steam deck OLED and I love it, but I’m considering getting one of these as well just so I can take it with me easier

Beat Ultimate Weapon 2.0
Beat Weiss
I will probably save Weiss and the Pride & Joy ones last.
*ROG* *Ally* *X*
What do you think of it?

I love the era we’re living in now with handhelds like the Deck.
Gorgeous industrial design
Give it phone capabilities like the Snail device to replace our phones.
Simply out of my price range for what it is, but i would still love to have one.
It’s perfect
Oled option would’ve been nice
You'd think with almost $500,000 in startup funds they would have been able to produce a bit more than 800 units of the 1440p model
This costs around 484 usd here in the Ph for the 16/1TB version (1080p; with case, thumb caps, and tempered glass) while the Odin 2 pro 12/256 costs around 394 usd without accessories. Considering that you would probably buy a microsd for the odin 2 (a 1TB costs around 100 usd here) plus a case and tempered glass (around 15 usd total), the Pocket S seems the better deal here
Android really needs to get some ps3/xbox 360 emulators that can take advantage of these new powerful machines.
This but flipable form factor would make it very pocketable. Here the joysticks still stand out too much for this.
The indigogo has one but can only be bought with the device and its $30
good lord just gets an Odin 2
Design so cool❤
I like that the Pocket S looks like a giant iPhone 5 with controls.
$500? Oh my. I didn't expect that. Why wouldn't someone just get a Steam Deck OLED at that price?
Man, I love the ascetics of this thing but i just can't justify the price.
I'll wait for the AyaNeo Pocket S, Super Edition, To come out about a month after this is Released
The fact this doesn't have a 120hz display is a deal breaker for me. For the price that they are asking, it should've been standard.
What about Winlator? Is it work on pocket s?
the poors are out! Excited to receive mine. Love my odin lite and odin 2 but it feels cheap and too bulky compared to this which i held in my hands at tech conference almost a year ago. This is the level of premium Ive been waiting for in an android handheld, and this is coming from someone who games on a Z Fold 5
Steam should really consider porting games to android like modern warfare, metal gear, forza, and others
Nintendo Lawyer watching from 12:30 be like: 😢😢
I clicked to the final thoughts section and usually he gives a better idea if it's with the money. Is it a good value?
Might try to grab one second hand, this is exactly the kind of android handheld I was looking for.
Still waiting on an update on Winlator
announcement of a new portable machine next week called "ayaneo pocket micro"🙄😂
does it have input lag when you using emulation?
Whites the best. Deserves a month to celebrate such an amazing color.
How about the the thermals under load?
How warm does it feel compared to Odin 2 and win4?
you should try winlator since you like to test emulators
What about Star wars Rogue leader on dolphin, can it run at full speed with no dips whatsoever?
can we please have a pocket S build quality and materials and form factor in the steam deck size?
Can you do a full emulation test on this device, I’m in between the Odin 2 and this one.
Hey ETA, how does it fare playing Warzone?
Can you at least confirm if the issues with the switch games from before were fixed?
Glorified Gaming phone with none detachable controller
I had reserved a 1440p model on the launch day of the Indiegogo campaign but then I canceled it and I'm glad I did. It's just too big of a compromise in all departments - price/performance, ergonomics etc.
Could you try and play some games on winulator on this puppy, this new gpu has me excited
you should test warzone mobile as it is also a heavy title
Respectfully i would love to meet a super human capable of seeing the difference in pixel densit ybetwen 1080p and 1440p on a tiny 6" display with the same specs regardless the resoluton.
This guy would definitely be a real life Legolas. 😂
what is the refresh rate of the dispaly?
60hz
@@nonecool thanks man
how comfortable is it vs odin 2? also, how do battery lifes compare?
Odin is more comfortable. This device is flat and slimmer. Aya Neo does offer a case for it with grips built in. Its an extra $35
12:00 OMG 80-85C. 100% CPU is cooled from the screen like in AYN odin 2. It can't be such temperature if the processor is connected to a heatsink.
$400 bucks…😮 to pricey
But i think its a good deal compare to other gaming phones
Steam deck is crying rn
Until you compare to prices of phones nowadays. I think phones cost too much considering what they do
Indeed you can buy a steam deck at the same price refurbish and play all those emulator and native PC version
Why you don't try Grid Autosport and Warzone Mobile gameplay?
Great review ! What about switch emulation ?
1440p is not available anymore
It is for me
4k60fps is available bro
They mean the device options on indiegogo. I'm seeing only the 1080p version, not the 1440p that ETA Prime has in the video
Yeah. If 1440p is all gone I’ll wait for the next iteration then
1440 is totally unnecessary at 6". You're just wasting battery for nothing. There's zero visual difference between 1080p and 1440p at that size.
So is Switch emulation dead? I know emulators are being taken down left and right but I'm sure there's a few out there that have to work. I literally would probably only buy this to play GameCube and switch games.
Whats the point of testing GeekBench within 2 different versions? 6.2.2 and 6.0.0?
Serious question at this price point. What is the reason to get this over a steam deck?
Pocket-ability and battery life. I have a steam deck OLED and I love it, but I’m considering getting one of these as well just so I can take it with me easier
I don't know about you guys, but those temps on the cpu and gpu are quite worrying if you ask me. Watch the Genshin Impact temps for example..
Odin 2 still the king
lmfao no It isnt. They arent even competing devices. This is far more premium. Odin 2 feels cheap in the hands and is too bulky.
It almost feels like you're trying so hard to convince yourself. Like denial. You know this device is better but you don't want to believe it, so you project. Odin 2 isn't this good
@@devinrobertson5251 And you are trying to justify a totally unnecessary purchase. What's better about a device whose greater power is not used than the Odin 2? Android emulation is at its peak and Odin 2 has much more to offer. It is more expensive. It's less comfortable. It's glossy. The battery lasts less.
Yes you can buy a steamdeck for the same price, but is the steamdeck pocketable? The build quality of this looks better than the odin (doubt it feels as good) but the design / build quality matches the price point.
Hay long time viewer of ur channel me an my wife watch every video can u please please answer 1 question is the google play store verified so we are able to play warzone mobile genshin impact ect thank u so much keep up the good work 😊
These are things that generate needs that you didn't know you had 😂
Odin 2 max or this?
Getting some Retroid Pocket vibed seeing the design.
Just give me the Odin 2 or RG556 design.
There is no other device that looks like this and the rp4 is literally a clone of the switch Looks nothing like this.
Great review. Thank you.
How is the battery life compared to Logitech G Cloud while streaming games?
I'm not (yet) that much into emulation, but I'm trying to justify Pocket S for myself :D
Stick to the G cloud - it's the most efficient device for streaming and the display is in the upper class.
