So I just got my new C8 two weeks ago- and the thing Todd keeps saying at the beginning “I can’t believe it’s mine” is exactly how I feel and can’t stop staying to myself. I’ve wanted one for 30 years- and being in a position to actually buy one now - everytime I walk out to the garage and see it sitting there I just stop and say “I can’t believe that thing is sitting there”
What a nation will do out of fear, also like the coaids lock downs. That said we are being over run by illegals and should be afraid to take our country back.
Absolutely was not expecting the feature on Manzanar. My grandpa was interned at Manzanar and I want to thank you guys so much for discussing it with so much respect and understanding. Really pulled at my heart strings
26:44 "Drive to a road...to drive." What a great statement, and while some people won't ever get what that statement means...to some, it means everything. What a great quote you've come up with. ❤
I was excited to see this video because I have been patiently waiting for my Emira, as have many others. It's been one delay after another since putting a deposit down in January, 2023. However, just yesterday I found out it's finally on a transporter from Baltimore, and should be at Boardwalk Lotus in 3-4 days! I paid special attention when Todd and Paul were at Boardwalk to see if I recognized any of the staff. Alas, I did and it was very bittersweet to see Tom Sutton showing Paul the Emira GT4. Tom passed away a month ago. I will remember our talks. He was a true car guy and will be missed by many.
44:00 the music swells, the sense of enjoyment and almost awe in the voice over, the beautiful camera work, it all there! And there are so many moments like this is! There is a reason y'all are the best at what you do!!
We’re one of the longest running car shows on TH-cam (since 2007!). We’re thrilled you found us and like what we do. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
As a car enthusiast I really enjoy your reviews and comparisons but particularly enjoy your road trips (allows me to live vicariously when I can’t get away myself 😊). As a proud Japanese AMERICAN, whose family served with distinction and is also currently serving in the U.S. military, and whose immediate family was interned during WWII and lost everything (and yet, still served as proud Americans), I was very moved by your reverence during your visit to Manzanar. That being said (and given that one of the cars you toured in was a Corvette), I was somewhat surprised to see that you did not mention that two of the most iconic American muscle cars, like other quintessentially American things (like the original World Trade Center) were developed or designed by Japanese Americans. Growing up in Southern California, Larry Shinoda was interned at Manzanar. Despite this, he also later served in the Air National Guard. But more relevantly to car enthusiasts, from Wikipedia: starting at GM, “Shinoda primarily designed concept cars, including the Mako Shark show car and CERV I. Working with Mitchell and Corvette chief engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, he refined the XP 819 and other concept cars that eventually translated into the original 1963 Corvette Sting Ray design. Shinoda also led design work on the revised 1968 version that borrowed heavily from his Mako Shark concept.” Later, “In 1968 Henry Ford II hired former GM executive Bunkie Knudsen to be president of Ford. Knudsen recruited Shinoda to come to Ford in hopes of improving the styling and sales of Ford's lineup. Shinoda's first project at Ford was the Boss 302 Mustang high-performance homologation special. Shinoda is credited with taking the original design, then designated SR-2, and removing much of the chrome ornamentation. Reportedly Shinoda chose the name "Boss" as a homage to Knudsen. He led the design that was used for the succeeding Mustang models for 1970-1973 as well.” To me, both “iconic” and “ironic”, and so quintessentially American. 😊
Your “top five driving road” is my local driving road. I feel pretty spoiled that I can just cruise up and drive on it after work. My ‘23 BRZ isn’t powerful, but it loves that road. Fantastic video guys!
Wow don’t ever take that for granted. In WNY we get 5 and a half months to drive our cars but in that short window we still gotta deal with cops, slow people, 30 mph zones everywhere, deer etc etc etc. I’m grateful I have a house with a garage with a 2nd car in it but it ain’t drivers utopia that’s for sure.
Watching this episode between studying. I really appreciate the high quality, inspirational videos you guys produce. Keep em coming and I'll keep coming back to watch them.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for such an amazing and inspiring video! I’m 55 and just finished putting two kids through college debt free. I had unexpected open heart surgery in January of this year due to a congenital valve defect. I had been working toward a Porsche all my life and, following my heart surgery, my wife pushed me to pull the trigger on my dream 718 Cayman GTS 4.0 (manual). I told her I was going to drive the hell out of this car (taking great care for it, just not a garage queen), and this video totally reinforces that. I live in So Cal and do the 395 and Bay Area trips regularly. Thank you for the intel on some great future road trips. You guys rock! 🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️👊🏼
Thank you for showing the prison and educating those who didn't know (and reminding the rest of us). You are right; we so close to repeating this awful history. Never forget...
As an East/coaster who has visited Northern California I have to say “I get it”. There is a special feeling you get from the Sierra Nevadas that you just can’t explain. Very special place. Thanks for taking me back.
I've done 20 years of ride to a road to ride a road on motorcycles. Now older, I drive to a road to drive a road.....look forward to the next one. You guys are inspiring!!
Thanks for taking us along on an incredible trip with you! Just wrapped up a solo 3600 mile trip and couldn’t agree more with how the open road can make you feel alive and appreciative. Can’t wait to get my new Z4 M40i MANUAL to its next track day - and I’ll drive to it. Keep up the videos guys!
Even though the average person may never do these trips, atleast we can live vicariously through you guys and keep that dream of freedom on the open road alive, hoping it will happen someday (as we are sitting in commuter traffic in our big SUVs ready to go insane). Keep those videos coming.
Love these road trip videos! I get to live vicariously through them a bit while being a full time caregiver for my dad and not being able to get away for more than an hour at a time or so, road trips and track days are off the menu for awhile, but I'll have to add highway 108 to the list since its not far! Anyway, fun story about Boardwalk. Bought a Chevy SS from them in 2016 from their GM dealership wing, but it was on Stopsale from June to November due to a seatbelt recall. By the time it was up, Chevy kept their 20% off incentives going for like 6 months and Boardwalk had like 10 manual transmission Chevy SS's on the lot. They called everyone on the waiting list at the same time and sold all of them in one day! I took a rental car down there on a one way rental to be able to get it lol
You need to get up to Washington State and try two drives, State Highway 20 through the North Cascades National Park and the road to Sunrise Visitor Center on the east side of Mount Rainier National Park. Great roads and views.
We love doing them - they're are favorite things to make and we've been doing them for a long time. Hopefully we'll continue doing at least one per yer indefinitely. Thanks for watching and enjoying!
This really captured the ups (and the downs) of a proper road trip. Brought back memories of some of my owns. And the footage…so pretty. It was the very last lines though, those stuck with me. “Isn’t that life? Isn’t that what we’re all battling through? Those high, peak moments…and we know the valley’s coming?” Beautifully done guys.
I really enjoyed this episode. It reminded me of a trip we took two years ago from Bainbridge Island though Pendleton, Twin Falls and finally Las Vegas for the SEMA show. I have to admit that on the return trip, travelling through fog, light snow and heavy rain on various ‘small’ highways I couldn’t be happier to find the familiar I5 again.
Loved the show Just got my new C8 2 months ago now broken in. Only live 45 minutes from Sonoma race way can wait to do some track days and experience some of the roads you shared on the show. Blessed to be so close to many great roads looking forward to more shows.
Thanks for taking us on another epic adventure! Great to see you both having opportunities to enjoy the open road, amazing cars, and great friends. I also appreciate that you brought light to historical details from our nation’s past. Good reminder that we need to take care of our fellow people, rather than act out of fear and/or ignorance.
I totally get driving to a road to drive. I'll be driving 640 KMs to drive to the great Ocean road in Victoria. It's been almost a year since I've driven that road and I'm looking forward to it. One of the best roads in Australia and one everyone should do in their life
My favorite thing you guys do are your road trip episodes and my favorite thing about California are its fantastic scenic roads and nature. Thanks for making another great piece of entertainment for us!
Another brilliant film, guys! It did what a great film should do which is take the viewer through a range of emotions. The drone work is spectacular in unison with the “score” for maximum effectiveness. I appreciate everything you guys are doing in the automotive world. Thank you both and the entire team. Bravo!
I only just discovered this channel when I was searching for “Emira vs Evora” as I’m thinking of getting an Emira (for full disclosure, I’ve had an AM Vantage, 911, Lambo Espada, Mk1 Jag XKE [yes, real classics which I did drive across Europe at full chat] so fair to say I’m a qualified petrolhead. As a restrained and cynical Brit who lived in NYC for 6 years, I have to say your channel is not only wonderfully direct, honest and observant, but also thoughtful, which is frankly not a word I generally associate with TH-cam. Your road trips are superb, well thought through and produced and remind me of the best memories I have of my time in America. Thank you gentlemen - Carry on 😎
We consider all you've said to be an incredible compliment. You're right - we are very atypical for TH-cam, and it sadly keeps our views down. But, we strive for a certain style of content, and you've connected with our intention. Thank you for watching and enjoying what we do. Our road trips are our favorite thing to make!
I can't ever dream of owning either one of those, but I do have a truck that is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned and...even to this day after 4 years of owning it sometimes the sun will hit the paint just right or I'll catch a glimpse of it at night and think...wow, incredible that it's mine. I take care of it like a child, and it's taken me all over the country and helped me form so many memories from women to scenery. Idk that I'll ever get rid of it but the feeling is completely mutual.
This had a bit of everything. Plains, mountains, a big City, wide open spaces, almost extraterrestrials, and a travel down history, both good and shameful. The sense of calmness I get from watching these road trips are unparalleled. Thanks to the crew for the wonder camera shots. Just the drone work alone was phenomenal! Thanks Gents! I’ll leave the Lotus Reliability Jokes alone. Now if it doesn’t stop on the next road trip… Paul: I love using gas… Todd: Oh sorry, you don’t know what a broken record is…
Thrilled you enjoyed and it leaves you in a great headspace. Thankfully the Emira has never had this problem in 6k+ miles since. Grateful to have you watching and commenting!
Great film guys! The roads, the trials with the Lotus and the stops along the way made this very entertaining! I really enjoyed the backstory on Bodie and Todd's story behind it.
108 is a hidden jewel of a highway. From San Francisco is do an annual Hwy 4 East and then 108 west back to SF. Enjoy before the snow closes the Sierra.
@48:22 RIP Tom Sutton. Best car salesman I've ever bought a car from. He's just a down to earth car enthusiast, very honest, and never shies away from a good conversation. Lots of NorCal Emira owners were saddened by his sudden passing.
I bought my C8 April 1 of this year, since then I’ve put well over 13,000 miles on it, and it’s not even my daily driver. The car itself is so balanced, and it just works. It’s the perfect road trip Car, and we’ve used it for that exact purpose three times now. I look forward to one day, taking it to the northwest of America.😊
One of your best road trips. Strangely I enjoyed the stops at historic sites like Manzanar and Bodie more than the track days. Love seeing every aspect of a good road trip from hotels, to meals, to attractions complemented by how a good car enhances the experience.
I love the EverydayDriver road trip videos so much!!! Spectacular scenery and twisty roads.... it's heaven on earth! Thanks for taking us viewers on another adventure with you!
Felt that "beta testing" comment. I landed a GR Corolla early last year, and had a misfire about two months into ownership that caused the car to go into limp mode. Pulling over and restarting the car "solved" the issue, but I didn't feel okay about it until I took it to the dealer, where a tech bulletin and corresponding software update addressed the issue. A bunch of other GRC owners reported the same thing. I'm grateful for the internet in moments like these! I will say that for everything modern cars do, it's worth the beta test period.
Eastern Sierra is my favorite place on earth! Not just in terms of driving but nature, people, food, views and many other things! Glad you showed its beauty in this video. I wish you spend more time in canyons and around lakes. There are so many of them over there!
I just bought a used C8 stingray and it’s like my burger “everything on it”. Love it I just go into the garage and stare at it and think to myself my self “F I can’t believe this is my car” Love my convertible
I took a road trip to Pikes Peak in my ND Miata and my friend in his Elise went with me. You two inspired that trip and it was amazing. Thank you for your content.
Once took a C7 Corvette on a road trip thru isolated Nevada and Arizona. was some of the most memorable driving of my life! Thank you for the amazing drone footage these roadie episodes are fantastic!!
Great video! The C8 is the definite reliability winner in this episode. It makes one wonder how different the video would have been if Todd would have also had a C8 (perhaps even a Z06)!
Love this! Out in western Washington (near Redmond Paul) amazing roads but rain for the next 5 months so need some road trip ideas that can happen on a weekend
Awesome road trip guys I am inspired to take another one thanks to you. Software upgrade or not Todd, It will be a while before you trust the Emira again. Glad it all went well after that. Can't wait for your next adventure!
I loved this piece! I watched it with my family on the big screen on Sunday when it released and they liked it too (it was their first introduction to the ED road trip series)! Please keep making these with both the car culture and the random places and historical backgrounds of those places!
Thrilled to hear you watched it with family and they all enjoyed it. Thank you for following and engaging with what we do! These films are our favorite thing to make!
Last summer my son and I flew to Germany to drive the alps and specifically Stelvio Pass in Italy in a GT4. So traveling thousands of miles to drive a specific road? Yeah we get it. 👍
Hey Todd, I had the same issue with my Emira not starting until after I waited a bit and then gave it another try. Then a couple weeks later I went on short trip and it wouldn’t start at all. It turned out to be a bad battery as a lot of the first US production Emiras sat on the factory lot for many months before they were shipped or were shipped and sat in dealer lots until the emissions certification went through. It seems a lot of the batteries went bad in this time. So I don’t think the software upgrade is going to fix it. I had to replace my battery and of course the warranty doesn’t cover batteries, so it was on me but it seems to have fixed the rather major issue of it not starting!
Great video and looks like an amazing experience. As a daily driver, I went with the C8 and couldn't be happier. Put about 1500 miles a month on it and love it. Considered and really wanted the Emira but price and reliability said nope - especially as a daily. Maybe when I retire and don't need a working everyday car. Happy riding.
Love the irony of talking about a broken Lotus while wearing a "happiness ahead" t-shirt. 🤣 But seriously, both cars are beautiful. I hope they both bring only happiness going forth...
I just on track for my first ever time in a car, and it was HOD day at Thunderhill in Willows, CA (October 19th, 2024)! I had a great time and learned a lot. So worth it! I'll be back again. They didn't even bat an eye when I did it in a crossover (Porsche Macan S).
Fantastic. Simply fantastic. Your road trips are always entertaining and informative...and inspiring. Absolutely the best automotive content. Keep up the great work! ps. love the Emira but like the blue C8 better.....almost as much as my black 2024 C8!
ROAD TRIP ❤️❤️❤️ Awesome video guys, capturing the essence of freedom and joy in an engaging car on entertaining roads. With a new Cayman GTS 4.0 6 speed in the garage and plans to retire in a couple of years, I’ve archived some of the routes in this trip and your Montana trip to explore in person. This is exactly what I bought the Cayman for, as one of the last lightweight manual cars that will ever be produced. (Considered an Emira; Todd’s reliability issue reinforces why I went with the Porsche). Thank you for the inspiration!!
Love driving my Emira on open roads! I have the touring suspension as well- it was definitely the right pick for me (after much hand-wringing). Looking forward to my first long road trip, if only I could find hotels along the way where it wouldn’t get messed with.
I actually just went to Bodie, CA with a friend on our motorcycles last week! The 3 miles leading up to the town were gravel and textured like a washboard. Only a little bit stressful on a sportbike but we made it in and out ok in the end.
I’m sure that I’m a lot closer in age to those two as opposed to most of the creators of car content on TH-cam. So I guess it’s only right that I relate to them more than most. You wouldn’t think that if you saw me or see most of my music choices, but I digress. It’s so refreshing not to have to hear about cold starts, how much exhausts crackle and pop, and seeing people do donuts. I love going fast, listening to good exhausts and overall car talk more than most humans, but seeing them reminds me just how young TH-cam is, and how much of a clown show most of it is. These dudes drive their cars, as opposed to counting the miles on them for clout, are confident in themselves, and aren’t looking for validation from the commment section. Kudos, and to everyone that’s never done a road trip, you’ve GOTTA do one in your favorite car before you’re too old to physically be able to. You’ll never forget it. Now go outside, do a quick detail on your car, stare at it, & smile!
The fact that the brakes in both cars held up well at Sonoma is a huge testament to those cars, as Sonoma is really hard on brakes. I tried tracking a Focus ST there with the same powerstop brake kit as Todd and RBF 660 brake fluid back in February, and it burned through the brakes in 1.5 sessions due to poor airflow.
As a fellow Lotus owner I can emphasis with the line "it destroys your trust with the car, is it going to start?" - but when it all does on a good day on there is nothing better than a Lotus!
So I just got my new C8 two weeks ago- and the thing Todd keeps saying at the beginning “I can’t believe it’s mine” is exactly how I feel and can’t stop staying to myself. I’ve wanted one for 30 years- and being in a position to actually buy one now - everytime I walk out to the garage and see it sitting there I just stop and say “I can’t believe that thing is sitting there”
When you get one of your dream/aspirational cars its an amazing feeling. Even after 10 years I still look back at my CTS-V wagon and smile.
Sounds like u fall right into the corvette age stereotype lol. Congrats tho

The drone work is spectacular in unison with the “score” for maximum effectiveness.
I appreciate everything you guys are doing in the automotive world.
Thank you both and the entire team. Bravo!
Fun! Thanks for taking the time and effort to show us this. It was fun.
Thanks for the response gents - that also says a lot about how you guys go about this and what it means to you 👍
I can't ever dream of owning either one of those, but I do have a truck that is the nicest vehicle I've ever owned and...even to this day after 4 years of owning it sometimes the sun will hit the paint just right or I'll catch a glimpse of it at night and think...wow, incredible that it's mine. I take care of it like a child, and it's taken me all over the country and helped me form so many memories from women to scenery. Idk that I'll ever get rid of it but the feeling is completely mutual.
Such an inspiration to watch these videos. Thank you for sharing the stories and adventures!
Awesome and definitely inspiring! I hope you keep taking us along on these road trips. Thanks.
Now if it doesn’t stop on the next road trip…
Paul: I love using gas…
Todd: Oh sorry, you don’t know what a broken record is…
Thrilled you enjoyed and it leaves you in a great headspace. Thankfully the Emira has never had this problem in 6k+ miles since. Grateful to have you watching and commenting!
Thank you for taking us with you and also for history lesson. I always enjoy your roadtrips and they make me do more of my own.
The filming of this video is absolutely stellar!
And the drone footage (yeah I know, it's all digital recording) is full-on beautiful.
Glad you liked. Those locations were tailor made for drone work. Thanks for watching!
Great film guys! The roads, the trials with the Lotus and the stops along the way made this very entertaining! I really enjoyed the backstory on Bodie and Todd's story behind it.
“Ohhh I’ve Been waiting for this!”
Your road trip videos make me ache to go for drive, like warren miller films get ski bums pumped for the winter.
We are flattered by that comparison! Thank you for watching and we're glad it feels inspirational!
Fantastic drive … video … and storytelling.
Perhaps the best road trip film of the year. Both cars look fantastic, especially on those wheels.
We consider that a huge compliment! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
108 is a hidden jewel of a highway. From San Francisco is do an annual Hwy 4 East and then 108 west back to SF. Enjoy before the snow closes the Sierra.
Beautifully done video. Bravo. I'm inspired to take a road trip now. Thank you
Your road trips are pure gold! Thank you.
Thank you. Great job in sharing the adventure. Blessings
@48:22 RIP Tom Sutton. Best car salesman I've ever bought a car from. He's just a down to earth car enthusiast, very honest, and never shies away from a good conversation. Lots of NorCal Emira owners were saddened by his sudden passing.
Fantastic video guys! Thank you!!!
Another amazing road trip video, guys! Thank you very much!
Thrilled to have you watching and enjoying them, Thank you!
Thank you for sharing the trip, highs and lows. Most excellent road trip coverage!
Love it
I just go into the garage and stare at it and think to myself my self “F I can’t believe this is my car”
Love my convertible
I took a road trip to Pikes Peak in my ND Miata and my friend in his Elise went with me. You two inspired that trip and it was amazing. Thank you for your content.
Great piece. Loved seeing roads and places I know
Loved this video, and love your channel. This makes me want to go take my car on a road trip.
Once took a C7 Corvette on a road trip thru isolated Nevada and Arizona. was some of the most memorable driving of my life! Thank you for the amazing drone footage these roadie episodes are fantastic!!
Brilliant! Representing real life, good , bad, and sad, with great road adventures as always. Great Job Guys!
Great video! The C8 is the definite reliability winner in this episode. It makes one wonder how different the video would have been if Todd would have also had a C8 (perhaps even a Z06)!
This is so so good. Thank you for sharing this with us
Two excellent cars. Great video gentleman. I’ll have to join you all with my 2024 Camaro 1SS one of these days.
Love this! Out in western Washington (near Redmond Paul) amazing roads but rain for the next 5 months so need some road trip ideas that can happen on a weekend
Thanks for the fantastic road-trip video. Everyday Driver rocks!
Just so exceedingly blessed that we get to go with...thank you again, as always!
Thank you for watching!
Great adventure and thank you for sharing!! 👍👍🙂
Excellent video, and those drone shots were amazing... I'm at 2.5k miles and praying that the Emira continues to deliver smiles rather than problems.
The views are amazing! I’ll definitely be planning a trip to Bodie!
You guys are the best - great film!
Great piece! You should be proud.
Great film! Great scenery as always. Look so fun!
But seriously, both cars are beautiful. I hope they both bring only happiness going forth...
What an emotional roller coaster for the Lotus. I'm glad it was able to make the trip!
Thrilled to here you were with us at HOD on that day. Macans are surprisingly good on track! We hope to see you at an event!
Superb video. Captured the essence of enthusiast driving.
Another great inspiration. Thanks.
Fantastic. Simply fantastic. Your road trips are always entertaining and informative...and inspiring. Absolutely the best automotive content. Keep up the great work! ps. love the Emira but like the blue C8 better.....almost as much as my black 2024 C8!
ROAD TRIP ❤️❤️❤️
Awesome video guys, capturing the essence of freedom and joy in an engaging car on entertaining roads.
3:49 the black wheels on the yellow lotus look perfectly together. Id say he got a W as well for the trade.
Was thinking the exact same thing -- the wheel swap made a big win for both cars!
Love driving my Emira on open roads! I have the touring suspension as well- it was definitely the right pick for me (after much hand-wringing). Looking forward to my first long road trip, if only I could find hotels along the way where it wouldn’t get messed with.
I airbnb a townhome or something when I roadtrip with my Cayman! No open parking lots for her haha
