  • James’ 1986 Toyota Corolla AE86 and Thomas’ 1984 Volkswagen Rabbit GTI are nearing the end of their journey to find enlightenment. Without a final destination in mind, the guys once more trust their instincts, intuition, and their little ‘80’s hatchbacks for the last leg of their adventure. But the bright lights of the Las Vegas strip and the raw inhospitable nature of the Mojave Desert still lies before them. Will the two cars make it to their final destination? Or will they be claimed by the Mojave? We hope you enjoy the final episode of the Road to Enlightenment!

This is why this channel has become my favorite car channel, no need of high production budgets or actors, just raw originality with authentic personalities and a passion to share with the world. This genuinely feels like the glory days of TH-cam, when channels pushed out fun videos to watch, no controversies, no politics, no forced plugs. This is raw entertainment! Thank you Thomas and James, and the Throttle House production team for sharing this adventure with us for free!

As someone who also had made road trips through the canyons, valleys, and desserts of Arizona, Nevada and California on a budget, it’s a really heart felt moment for me. I love your love for your crew, the love for your partner, and the love for the cars you’ve chosen. I won’t say the modern amenities of the cars of today are all useless, but this really reminds me of my 75 hp Peugeot 106 that had brought me more joy than any of the cars that I owned after that. Cars really do bring us unique memories and make their ways into our hearts like no other machinery could ever possibly do. What an incredible journey this was. It wasn't about the cars, even though it is, that made this such an amazing trip. It was both of you, Thomas AND James, that made this whole thing enjoyable and wholesome. Shout out to the ENTIRE crew that worked their butts off to put this whole thing together as well. Genuinely loved this series and is one I'll know I'll watch again. Beautiful words from James there at the end, sincerely made me tear up. Love all that you guys do. Never stop being you two and may the future bring great things for all of the Throttle House team.

I loved this so so so much, for real, there is nothing like this outside of the Grand Tour, now you two have absolutely grabbed us in the heart, and there, you shall forever stay, I thankyou Thomas and James, and the whole team that is Throttle House! This has been just as emotionally taxing to watch, as it must have been even thinking of this trip for you. I am so deeply in awe, and the respect is so huge for the whole production done by such a small yet tight group.
And yes I know, we do have Car Trek, but they have yet to do THIS, on the emotional level!

Twice a year I make the 1,000 mile round trip to the Colorado River and cut across the Mojave desert offroad all the way to Baker, CA and do a bunch of exploration in between with a group of friends for a few days. Once we do the deep water crossing and pull into the camp ground to air up, I always get that tear eyed moment James had because I know the journey has ended and its time to part ways and drive that 400 miles home with no CB radio banter from the other guys in the group.
This series really hits you in the feel good.

I just discovered this special and I am elated to see you guys going on adventures now! The production quality, antics, peril, and genuine car love are all top notch. So many shows attempt to create fun dramatic car specials and fail miserably (including the British trio that started them all). This is back to basics, back to cars, and was a delight to watch. It literally got me onto auto tempest to start looking for my dream classic money pit car. Thank you for this gem!

James’s speech hit me in the feels. It’s been something to watch the channel grow.
I want you guys to know we appreciate the light you all have provided us too. I discovered this channel during the depths of the pandemic and I felt like I made new friends, even though I’ve never met you guys in my life. It really helped me get through a rough patch and I’ll always be thankful for that.

This is what happens when you do something from the heart and give it all the passion you possess. The crew, the sponsor(s) of course Thomas and James AND the cars. James's monologue was totally from the heart and it shows on every upload. Such an amazing team through and through. May your successes continue with straight roads with no construction, no stop signs and green traffic lights. The entire Throttle House team deserves it. 👍🏽

This was great. Thank you James and Thomas for taking us along on your enlightenment. Also, huge thanks to AutoTempest for supporting this kind of content instead of the attempted slap-schtick of that other AutoTempest 'series' with T-H-E.
