My friend came to me and said I feel realiable and safe when I am with you. That's when I found my why: to inspire others to become the best leader they can be so that together we can create safe and secured world.. thank you Simon
Hey YOU, beautiful person reading this...The truth is you are confident and good enough already with who you are, where you are at and what you have right now to have the success you want in life. Don't let others define what “success” is for you. Get up, learn that skill and go after it! I believe in you so much! Have an awesome day! - Love, Nat ❤️
Thank you Nat for your kind and inspirational words. I really felt you were talking to me personally, i had goose bumps, i welled up a little and I felt moved. It was exactly what I needed to hear today. You have a beautiful soul thank you. x
Nat, wow, your words are so very much needed for me to hear right now! Thank you for sharing your love, support and belief in me. You brought a lump in my throat (not gonna cry), and I am so grateful to you. As they say "a stranger is a friend you haven't met yet". Thank you, my friend. Thank you🙏🏽❤️
@@raymondtendau2749 When you state you wake up daily at 5AM because you found your why, there must be a connection - and a reason why. I’m really curious about them. Is there something wrong?!
Why are we friends? Because with you, I am a better person. Because you see that better me even when no one does. And, both of those are invaluable to me. 💟🌼🌼🌼
Unfortunately living in a generation of people where Friendships get discarded at the slightest sight of trouble or are just "blocked" away by ghosting it is very difficult to find anyone I would trust in such a manner. I would only trust the members of my family and my spouse. So in that case, defining my why falls to me on my own - and I have failed to articulate that since I have started watching Simon. I have read the books multiple times, I have watched all the talks Simon has given (also an unhealthy amount of times) and I could not figure it out. I have given up on finding it and just letting life decide if it will eventually show me or not. But I still appreciate all your ideas and tips and trick Simon, they have been nothing short of outstanding as my role in leadership increased over time. Keep it up!
I share this criticism. In his videos and interviews he always gives this example and hints at there being more methods in his book etc. But since you have read his books and haven't been able to find your "why", it sounds to me like there aren't really any other methods in his books. The problem is that this not only requires friends, which many of us will have, but it requires good friends that will be there for you no matter what. "What specifically is it about me, that I know you'll be there for me, no matter what?" Assumes that person will be there for you. Requires you being able to assume that they will be there for you. Plus he fails to define what he means by being there for someone. Just listening or more? It's extremely frustrating that he beats about the bush so much.
I've just finished his "Start with Why" and moving to the newer "Leaders Eat Last". I thought his "Start with why" was full of examples and I agrees, its really hard to figure out how to find your own WHY from it, but one part of the book stood out. Simon found his own why, and it states in his book, that to find it, he needed look back at his life, to figure out what was always the emotion in everything he did (in his case to inspire), in all his scenarios. Im curious, as this comment is a year old, if you ever found your Why, or at least, how its all progressed for you since?
*To all the dreamers out there, don't ever let the world's negativity disenchant you or your spirit. If you surround yourself with love and right people, ANYTHING is possible.* 🙏🖤

Life is not primarily a quest for pleasure,as Freud Believed,or a quest for power as Alfred Adler taught, but a quest for meaning. The greatest task for any person is to find a meaning in his or her life.Frankl saw three possible sources for meaning :in work(Doing something significant),in love(Caring for another person),and in courage during difficult times.Suffering in and of itself is meaningless. We give our suffering meaning by the way in which we respond to it. ‐Victor E.Frankl Man's search for Meaning.
True. Then your why is not just your aim but also what others see as your aim from outside of your inner self. It’s the goal of your pursuit, professionally and personally. But not everybody has a big relevant why. Some people’s why is simpler. And smaller. Because their ambitions grew small. And that’s it...
Thanks Simon for sharing that as it helped me to clarify that question for me and one that I have been trying to answer for a very long time. However I want to go deeper into this. In the 5 Love Languages, then they say that the most prominent love language is the one that you received the least of. So it has significant value and meaning to you. And I would be curious as to how often someone's "Why" would change. Once a need or feeling is met perhaps, or there are some emotional changes in one's life. Say someone's why is based off of an emotional trauma, a death in the family, parents approval, societal pressures, ridicule, shame, guilt and so on. I asked myself the friends question, and what came up for me was, that other people cared about me, but as fast as I answered it then I knew it came from this pain in childhood where I just wanted to feel important. I have been healing the people pleasing aspect of me for some time and even though caring is an admirable trait, I knew right away that it isn't the only "Why" that I want for the rest of my life. Partly because I am balancing out from Self Sacrificing. And that at some point I will want to find meaning at a deeper level than from a wound.
Spiritual teachers have always known that 'your why' is really who you are - your personality and body are just temporary constructs for 'your why' to live a single life. You can improve 'your why' over a lifetime if you work hard at it - but often a life is just wasted and you must wait for the next one. Rather than calling it 'your why' the often call it the 'i am'. or the 'you are'.

Unfortunately, not everyone is blessed to have a genuine friend that will have their backs. The only thing one can do is be a good friend and hope one day someone will value your friendship. But that still doesn’t ensure they will pick up your phone at 3 am and not have their cell in “night mode - silent”.
I'm definitely going to try this; I have a few close friends that are my brother's from the military. Love your work. I gotta ask though, where did you get that hat?!
Which of your books would you council to read first? I'm curious to learn how you council to find your why and put it at the service of others. "Start with why" is precedent to "Find your why". Which one should I start with?
Love by definition escape to rationnal, non need to explain love, live has is own reason that we ignor... if you really need to put a why on friendship love, thats probably mean that your friendship gettin low
Then maybe you don’t have a WHY either, because nothing really inspires you and your life has little meaning. And that’s why you don’t have any friends 😂 the sad logic of Simon…
Is it possible that a starting point is to consider those around you? Friends vs acquaintances vs those we fill our time with. These are not the same and each will be able to give you different answers to how you impact their lives.
Don't agree - first off, what's your WHY in what context? Context is key - if you're talking about our Why to exist (i.e. purpose) - that can definitely change and if you're conflating your why with ones value - that's still vague and can change -when we change how we value ourselves, our Why then would change, since our perception changes, and therefore the impact we have on people changes. As for our Why and reason for existing - life is inherently meaningful - so on that level- the WHY is built in and if you're talking about a personal Why or Purpose in life that can come from what we find valuable and how we come to convey that value is what people reflect back to us as our value - that too can change.
"Your why is the thing you give to the world." Inspiring as always, Simon!

Then maybe you don’t have a WHY either, because nothing really inspires you and your life has little meaning. And that’s why you don’t have any friends 😂 the sad logic of Simon…
@@monikam.9953 true. I have no friends. Maybe I’m just destined to help online frenz 🙂🙃

What when you know your why but have no clue what your how is?
I can't find my why that way,my friends won't entertain the conversation that long
Is it possible that a starting point is to consider those around you? Friends vs acquaintances vs those we fill our time with. These are not the same and each will be able to give you different answers to how you impact their lives.
Whoa. Mic drop.
What do you do if you don’t have friends?
Maybe because I am from a different culture, but the question/ approach sounded a bit narcissistic. Anyone?
Please sir can you help me find my "why"? Please sir 😢😢
Oh😮😊
what if I don't have that kind of friend? friend that will pick up my call at 3am in the morning
