    I never understood why people don't listen to my success advice - because i was using what and how.
    Now I started to use why !
    And I started to use why for myself= why do I do it ? and it makes everything so easy...
    Thank You... You changed my life

    the starting analogy of how school teachers never explain WHY one should study is extremely accurate reason of why I also never liked to study throughout of school days, but today love reading after understanding why reading is useful for developing my life and capabilities

    "Thinking Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman goes into some of the neuroscience of why, while it doesn't explicitly call it this it comes down telling ourselves stories that make sense to us.

      Fantastic book on the foundational principles of passive vs. active thinking and the nature of reactive vs. active thought. I love that the knowledge in this book was distilled out of somewhere around two decades of studies and intellectual conversation between a couple of smart, inquisitive guys who must have challenged each other constantly. I was especially impressed with the breakdown of biases, priming and impulse. Does anyone know of any other books that handle these topics in a more conversational way?

    Same thing happened to me. I just started reading like 2 years ago, I'm 20 now. I thing I found out is that when I read something that I'm interested in I really learned it and if I read something because "I have to" for school I don't really learn. Also I'm starting to do your "trick" to listen audiobooks while on the car, nevertheless I do prefer to read books. Awesome video, keep it up

    WHY is a synonym for "clarity" principle. Others would call it purpose, big goal, big dream, reason... Simon Sinek used a very intuitive model for amateur description of clarity. Please don't stop there because CLARITY = POWER.

    Seems like leadership is like salesmanship in that in order to succeed by persuasion, you must connect your goal or product to something your target cares about and show how it will benefit them by bringing them closer to their own goals for themselves.

    This is such a powerful concepts and I realized I can apply it to any part of my life. Why should I study? Because I want to gain a different perspective of the world, learn something new so I can apply it to a job I like, which can also make be money, and then give me a life of financial independence.

    I'd also say one wouldn't listen to their teachers telling them the same thing cause you'd not really respect their opinion. They don't inspire you. Whereas a successful mentor who's achieving great things in life inspires, and you respect their opinion. And therefor you'd listen to what they tell you is good for you, instead of a teacher who (mostly) is only telling you cause it's their job

    The difference between a mentor and a teacher, the teacher starts with what and how without the why. Most organisation don't know why they do what they do. The mentors start with why then proceed to the how and why.

  • @josh7297
    @josh7297 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Another factor of what you discussed is how much you respect the person. You must have been inspired to read because you actually respected your mentors. When you look up and respect someone, you will definitely try to emulate some part of their lifestyle. When you were younger, you definitely did not respect your teachers which is why you would not listen to them. The teachers did not meet your standard as to someone who is awesome and inspirational.
