Speaking as an M2C owner, if i were buying used, i'd go M4 over OG M2. They're both awesome cars, but the S55 is a beast and it doesn't hurt to have a nicer interior with more goodies. The longer wheelbase will make it more comfortable as well since it looks like you plan on dailying that thing. Congrats on the ride, I enjoy watching your channel!
Felix i agree with you as well! funny thing though is that this car isn’t a daily for me and i’m going to turn it into a track tool 😂 It’s a stripper spec so it has no factory options also haha
This video and this comment answered my question. I’m selling my Lexus IS and Indian Scout motorbike with the hope to buy a M4 2016 for around $75k AUD.
I would take a manual og m2 instead. The n55 especially the one that comes in the m2 can't be beat on sound. Also the refinement, or lack-thereof gives it more personality. I think it's a great little car, and love it with a manual. I'd also get a m4 dct if I had unlimited pockets but that's like 10-20k more lol. m4 would be a great daily, but the m2 has a better driving experience on fun roads. I'd take an m4 over an m2 comp. But I'd take m2 cs over any m3/4. E92 is great though.
as an M2 owner i definitely agree with the weight. I own a ‘16 N55 M2, and even for the non comp version it is a bulky car, although id say BMW does a good job of masking its hefty curb weight
I have MY20 M2C DCT- you can add carbon fiber roof carbon fiber fenders and hood to the car and it significantly reduce his weight. I had the opportunity to purchase a heritage edition M4 and a fully loaded M4 with executive package. After test driving back to back on the dealership parking lot the M2 competition just felt that much better I love the stubbornness about it and I feel like the M2 competition will end up becoming more of a classic sports car in the M4.

Great vid bro, you’re a real natural with these YT vids. Great car choice also, I remember when you were really excited with your E92, great car progression! I myself have a E90 saloon 325i SE with the 3 litre engine in manual. Love to you from the UK 👍
Way to go bro, if you are still a scholar and can afford that much of a car, you are on the right track, I was here during your E90 days man, you are doing well...
M4 is better for high speeds and the M2 non-comp handles so well on a short track. i've owned both, and now own an M2. do love the S55. The M4 starting in 2018 does not get a carbon drive shaft. the M4 looks betters in the front, but the M2's ass is so nice! both nice cars either way!!
I have an M2C, and don't disagree that it would be nice if it was lighter. However, most cars with this much engine and cooling that are between 176 and 190 inches long are still at least as heavy as the M2C. It isn't light, but it isn't actually heavy, either...at least by comparison to other modern cars. That being said, the shorter wheel base is where the size becomes an advantage over the M4 (which I have driven multiple times). The M4's longer wheel base also has its advantages...it is a slightly better highway cruiser. Both are great cars and though I made the opposite choice you did, I can't fault your choice at all. I hope you have endless fun in your new car!
Made perfect sense to me! I'm not a little guy, so I'd pick the M4 as well! The M2 is a pitbull of car, and has the performance advantages as far as track is concerned, but the price is over the top. I know it's a matter of what you want, and since I'd take low price and solid performance when I want, why not get more car? Just my opinion!
Im glad you’re happy with your choice, personally I bought an OG M2 with 4,000 miles and fulled optioned out(except no sunroof), been waiting since 2016 to buy it :) If the M2 didn’t exist I would have bought an M4 or 1M
Hey man the M4 is my dream car man.You should tint the back windows and front ones a little, black out the front grills or a full Chrome Delete and black all the chrome bits out , add rear diffuser, carbon mirror caps and a rear carbon spoiler the M4 will look better than ever

Just keep in mind, there are proven issues with some early model carbonfibre driveshaft. It can tear apart, and cause some very bad issues - and injuries as well. You might want to check it out. Also there is an issue with S55 connecting rod bearing - to prevent this to fail and cause your engine to basically blow up, you need to spend around ~10000$ for a shop to do it (basically you need to tear down the entire engine and engine bay and front of the car to do it). This issue will come up especially if you start "racing" or driving hard your car - but even if not, it could still happen (but lower chance). You can also expect (hopefully not) issues with the Automatic gearbox, if it wasnt maintained well. Turbos can fail after/around 100-120k kms To be honest, M4 is a very nice car, but with all the reliability issues it comes, even if its a "bargain" at that price - i would not buy it. It is cheap because of the maintenance cost the car has. Of course if its not an issue for you price-wise, then its a great car. Enjoy the car & drive safe :)
You make a good case, and it sounds like you chose exactly the vehicle you should have. My 2015 GTI PP was recently totaled by a flash flood (in a dealership parking lot...ironically,) so I was hunting for successors for a bit. Went with the OG M2 for the following reasons: --I like smaller, more nimble cars. The OG has a weight problem, but it has nearly identical dimensions to my GTI. That compactness belies its weight. That excludes the M3/4. --I wanted more performance than I'd had in the past (GTI, 1999 Miata (which I still have,) and generic commuter cars) with RWD emphasis. That excluded STI/hot hatches. --As my daily, I wanted reasonable practicality. That excluded (very begrudgingly) the Porsche Caymans. Maybe I'll get a Boxster to replace the Miata one day? --I didn't see the M2C S55 benefit. "It's a REAL M engine!" But the acceleration is the same as the N55 OG! If the acc is the same, then I'd rather have the lighter weight! I also couldn't afford the newer M2C. --I didn't want depreciation to destroy me...too badly. That eliminated the M240i. The M2 should hold its value far better. I paid $10k more on the front end, but I'll make up for it, and then some, on the back end; all while owning an actual M car the entire time.
2018 OG M2 here. I'm an empty nester so the size is perfect for me. With the sunroof delete, it's about the lightest M model that BMW makes. I admire the M3/M4 models but slightly too big for my use case.
random question but whos n55 m2 was that with the studio rsr sticker? I literally bought the same exact color with that studio rsr sticker from auction & its lowered exactly the same LOL.
"you can easily pick these up in the mid 30 thousand dollar range" what a crazy time we live in because those statements are no longer tree. the least you're paying for one with low mileage nowadays is 40k and that's the least.
I will say as a recent M2 (OG) buyer the power is unimpressive unless its freezing cold outside. Obviously the car is stock and an intercooler would greatly remedy that. When I first got the car about 1.5 months ago it was 20-35 degrees for a week straight and the car felt like a rocket ship. Since then its been a mix of 35-65+ and in the days were its 45+ the car is underwhelming. With that said, IC / CP / DP / stage 2 soon. That should fix my issue lol
Currently have a estroil blue M235i and now looking for an M4.. watched your vids since I was looking to buy the 2. Did you buy your M4 from BMW, or was it a private sale? Cheapest M4 from BMW in the UK is £31,000 ($43,000) :-(
Personally the M2 looks so much better to me! That said, you make some good points about weight with the carbon roof and extras you can get with M4. Nice video tho as usual, thanks bruh
From my experience the m4 drifts better the m2. But the m2 rotates better in tight turns, feels lighter and on its toes. The linear torque from bottom in the s55 helps alot for holding drifts and the longer wheelbase of the m4 I suppose. I love my OG m2 ❤️
Totally understand what you mean about the M2 not being enough of an upgrade from an M235i. I feel the same way about Focus ST to Focus RS which is why I got an M2
Nice vid Omar, I agree for the value/performance difference, the M4 does seem a very fair decision. Curious though about 3 things... 1) Does the M4 get a Oil Temp gauge? 2) Does it get a Oil dip stick? (does BMW even do these in general these days) 3) Can you open the trunk with a key (or is it at least easier than when your 235i battery died :))? (If you plan do a 'small things you didn't know about the M4' type vid, thats cool too, I can wait. Also congrats!
I've been a F82 owner since Sept 2015 (for sale). No oil temp gauge. The car has an elaborate cooling system, actually made for racing. No engine oil dipstick. Need power to open trunk.
TheKumara Thanks man! So YES, the M4 does get a proper oil temp gauge, no dipstick, and no manual keyhole for the trunk. its like that with all f series BMW’s
I test drove a M4 comp and a M2C back to back... the M2C really hides the weight well, if you didn't know the actual number I would have said the M2C was a couple hundred lbs lighter... the proportions of the M4 made it feel much bigger
been a big fan of the vids on the channel recently. i’m trying to get into car youtube and start a modification series myself. was debating between an M2 N55 and an M4 S55 the one thing was I felt like the S55 doesn’t sound as good BUT I have always wanted an M3/M4 and I feel like it would be a great build. was nervous about length on the track but who knows it may be awesome. I still am unsure but would love to talk more about your M4 experience if you have a chance!
i’m looking for a daily that I can build a bit for youtube and have some fun with when I go to the track maybe 2-3 times a year. won’t be able to go much with school
Yes the 235i price vs the M2 price is roughly about 15k more or less but if you think about the resale value of the M2C, it will be much better than the m235i. In other words, yes its waay more expensive but it also holds its value better as well....
What is wrong in the US? How can a M4 Competition be cheaper then a M2 Competition?? How do you do that? 38k for a M4? Here in Germany they still cost 60-100k. The M2 cost 40-70k
Broooooo chill the fuck out! Congrats homie been watching your channel for a while on your 235i and hadn’t seen a vid in a while and got this 💯💯 can’t wait for the videos to come
It's not that the M2 is heavy. The M4 is just spec'd with light weight components like you mentioned, which makes the car lighter. It is one of the things that makes the M4 more expensive besides the extra 4'' of sheetmetal because in the end, with the s55 in both models, where was the extra money going?
Watching this in June 2022, when my local dealer has a demo F83 for 82k out of the door. And 2nd car I consider has 25k miles on it, price 63k located in Philadelphia. Damn
as you came from the e92 back in the day i think the m4 looks like a modernized body style of the e92 coupe wheres the m2 looks more like a stubby modernized 2008 1 series.
They might go down, with gas prices going up, they will come down, you will just have to put up with the high gas prices, they are pretty 'economical' cars, but if you drive them hard, mileage does thru the drain.
Found it on Craigslist man. Private party sale, one owner, guy was retiring and needed it gone. Keep in mind this was before COVID hit and the used car market became inflated
Amazing video as always! You should definitely make a video explaining the B58 with the S55. As you may know Supra's are super fast and I've seen it raced an M4 and gapped it pretty well.

Love the spec you chose. Very rare car. You going to install CBC yourself or have shop do it? Would make great vid doing install.
Thank you! it took me forever to find this spec, im gona have a shop do the hub with the cbc, and i will be filming the whole process
Dude, you don’t need to justify your purchase. Sweet ride, enjoy it.
Eddie3074 thanks bro, really appreciate that!
Hey @simplycarthings, would you say that your M235i (with FBO and BM3 stage 2) was faster than your M4 as it stands?
Matthew Booker HP wise both will be close. But M235i produces more torque than the M4.
Bro the amount of knowledge you know off the top of your head still is crazy to me
Akito Martin ...True. I have 3 BMW’s including the F80 M3, and on forums pretty regularly. He’s very knowledgeable.
Currently have a estroil blue M235i and now looking for an M4.. watched your vids since I was looking to buy the 2. Did you buy your M4 from BMW, or was it a private sale? Cheapest M4 from BMW in the UK is £31,000 ($43,000) :-(
Basically m4 is a better choice. Looks amazing too
Personally the M2 looks so much better to me! That said, you make some good points about weight with the carbon roof and extras you can get with M4. Nice video tho as usual, thanks bruh
thanks man! yea thats why i said looks are entirely subjective, every person sees a car differently
You should paint it/wrap it nardo gray. That would look fantastic! Congrats on the beautiful car man! My dream is to get a f80 m3 🔥👍
thanks brotha! youll get your F80 in no time!
Simply Car Things lol still gotta long way to go
From my experience the m4 drifts better the m2.
Im glad you get where im coming from 😂And I absolutely love the M2 as well, it really is a wonderful car!
congrats man! what made you choose the dual clutch over the 6 speed
thank you! the DCT is much faster and geared toward performance with this car, which is what i was looking for
good point! im jealous
Nice vid Omar, I agree for the value/performance difference, the M4 does seem a very fair decision. Curious though about 3 things...
1) Does the M4 get a Oil Temp gauge?
2) Does it get a Oil dip stick? (does BMW even do these in general these days)
3) Can you open the trunk with a key (or is it at least easier than when your 235i battery died :))?
Does the M4 have a DCT? Did you think at all about getting a manual transmission?
It does have a DCT
been a big fan of the vids on the channel recently. i’m trying to get into car youtube and start a modification series myself. was debating between an M2 N55 and an M4 S55 the one thing was I felt like the S55 doesn’t sound as good BUT I have always wanted an M3/M4 and I feel like it would be a great build. was nervous about length on the track but who knows it may be awesome. I still am unsure but would love to talk more about your M4 experience if you have a chance!
i’m looking for a daily that I can build a bit for youtube and have some fun with when I go to the track maybe 2-3 times a year. won’t be able to go much with school
Which bmw car has b58 manual . BMW makes it so difficult on website
May i ask? Is the heritage edition more expensive and whats their differences? Thanks..
Where did you find such a good deal? i went to go look for one locally about 61k miles for 34k
Akris Lin i found mine on craigslist! for sale through a private party
Simply Car Things That’s awesome man! What year is it?
@@akrislin2144 its a 2015 MY
I am Looking for M4 Under 40k . Which model year do you have ??
Keep up the videos I love it! Finally someone I can watch.
Compsport M3 thanks man!! plenty more content to come soon
Did you film the side view shot at 3:29 on De Portola Rd?
congratulations man been lurking for a year or two now i reckon glad to see u get in an M
Could you give me any advice on my 328i, I just replaced the thermostat radiator and water pump yet it still tends to overheat anything could help.
Oh you would love the M2 CS
Yes the 235i price vs the M2 price is roughly about 15k more or less but if you think about the resale value of the M2C, it will be much better than the m235i. In other words, yes its waay more expensive but it also holds its value better as well....
What is wrong in the US? How can a M4 Competition be cheaper then a M2 Competition?? How do you do that? 38k for a M4? Here in Germany they still cost 60-100k. The M2 cost 40-70k
Where did you find one with for 34k!? Usually at that price they usually have higher mileage like over 70,000 miles.
pre-covid deals were nuts bro haha
M4 is beefier and looks meaner I’d get it over an m2 any day
Blep Head Yep i agree totally! 👍🏼
Broooooo chill the fuck out! Congrats homie been watching your channel for a while on your 235i and hadn’t seen a vid in a while and got this 💯💯 can’t wait for the videos to come
😂😂 thanks bro, yea this is my last car for a good while so dont worry
Nice m4! You bought this outright or you financed?
It's not that the M2 is heavy. The M4 is just spec'd with light weight components like you mentioned, which makes the car lighter. It is one of the things that makes the M4 more expensive besides the extra 4'' of sheetmetal because in the end, with the s55 in both models, where was the extra money going?
You made a right choice.
0:48
Saw those tire marks on the road I can’t help but wonder did you donut your car around neighborhood?
XD XD XD
no i didnt 🤣its a public road so it was most likely someone else hahaha
Watching this in June 2022, when my local dealer has a demo F83 for 82k out of the door. And 2nd car I consider has 25k miles on it, price 63k located in Philadelphia. Damn
it's really depressing seeing how used sports cars have skyrocketed in price
as you came from the e92 back in the day i think the m4 looks like a modernized body style of the e92 coupe wheres the m2 looks more like a stubby modernized 2008 1 series.
Agreed, its an evolutionary design of both coupes
just subscribed to the Channel always love a Bmw reviewer keep it up man :)
Abd xvrame thank you so much! welcome to the fam 🙏🏼
M4 prices back up big time 😫 , hoping once life goes back to normal the market will adjust itself and these can be found in the mid 30's range again.
They might go down, with gas prices going up, they will come down, you will just have to put up with the high gas prices, they are pretty 'economical' cars, but if you drive them hard, mileage does thru the drain.
M4 FTW
F82 Mike m4tw
Getting mine next week
Where did you find a an m4 with 38k miles for 34.5k$??? All I could find is high 30s with around 42k miles
Found it on Craigslist man. Private party sale, one owner, guy was retiring and needed it gone. Keep in mind this was before COVID hit and the used car market became inflated
Congrats man!!!!! Although I’m Gonna mis the m235i vids
Where are these selling for mid 30s I’m looking…. Love your vids btw thanks for what you do man
M4s are way cheaper than I thought they'd be. Sick car ...e46/e92 m3 for me if i ever get the money😄
Bro where tf did you get it for under 40k
Amazing video as always! You should definitely make a video explaining the B58 with the S55. As you may know Supra's are super fast and I've seen it raced an M4 and gapped it pretty well.
X3m comp and x4m comp have the s58 which kicks the s55 into touch , it’s being put in the m2 in 2022 and going to power all m cars
Mohammad Zohaib thanks man! i will do for sure 👌🏼
I got my f80 over an M2 cause it has a fat ass.. but your reasons are good enough too 😂😂
F80 M3's are thicccccccc boi's
Hermes Lika you aint lying tho 🤣🤣
I had 2 F80s. One with comp pack (zcp) one without. That being said, m2 seems to have a even more muscular looking fat ass...im summary
M3, M2 - muscular/hourglass fat ass
M4- just fat ass
