The size of paddle shifters in M2 depends on whether the car is equipped with the interior carbon package or not. Carbon package comes with larger paddle shifters (exact the same that are on this particular M4).

Yeah I don't see why someone would go for a base M4 when it's the same power and weight as the M2. xDrive Comp is a beast of a car with crazy power levels and performance. But you certainly pay for it! M2 is a great all around choice without spending a fortune
M4 all the way. Drove the M2 and M4 Comp XDrive back to back and it is noticeably faster with nicer interior color options and the brilliant XDrive system. If you live in a warm dry place, the M2 is still a great option. Not here in Canada though.
Yeah the xDrive makes it much better getting the power to the ground. You certainly are paying for the extra performance tho. M2 is great on a 'budget'. Both are super cool!
M2 because: (1) Size: I like the slightly shorter wheelbase, it looks and feels a bit more ‘go-kart’. (2) Cost: I can afford to spec the M2 with all the options, I can’t do that with the M4. (3) Styling: I like the look of the M2 especially those big wheels arches; I still cannot get my head around the M4 grill ! (4) Power: I don’t track, the M2 has more than enough for real world driving - the more power, the less you can use all of it on public roads.
@@BrosFOURRSpeed Honestly, very little. The M4 has some nicer finishes inside…but a higher price tag and the M2 finish isn’t exactly ‘cheap’ so I can’t grumble about that. BMW needs to give the M3 & M4 the aggressive body style features that the M2 has. It’s not a big car, but the M2 looks so much meaner in person than the M4.
The M2 is more in line with my budget and I prefer the more compact footprint which shows up in handling. The M4 interior looks better, especially the seats, but I would struggle to justify the extra cost for the M4.

It's a great car for sure! Especially the xDrive Comp. Really lets you put the power down. M2 is a blast too and is pretty much the same car as the base model M4. Can't go wrong for the money
I've been daily driving a G87 M2 for about 2 months now. I chose the M2 over M4 because: 1) I like the exterior styling a lot more. 2) Shorter wheelbase is easier to park and drives like a smaller car. I do miss having cooled seats. Prior daily was a 2020 GT350 and it had both heated and cooled seats. It was much more hassle as a daily driver though.
M2 is bettwe than gt350... I love the 350.. but come on.. we both know thats true.... dang or maybe its cuz i just ordered a 25' portimao metallic m2. But hey.... that s58 😂
The xdrive is the 0-60 champ of course but unless you're launching from a stoplight frequently it just doesnt matter. From 30 mph and up the M2 will be right there (proven on video) and course you can easily flash it for 600+ rwhp. Exact same motor and trans and I love the ZF trans. M2 looks better imo except perhaps the rear
Yeah the M2 really offers a ton! Especially looking at the base M4, no real point to get that with the same engine tuning and weight as the M2. xDrive does offer a but more confidence with traction. But you pay a lot more money for it. I'd go M2 as well since it's much more affordable and downpipes and tuning make like 700 Hp. So fun car!
So I got the 2024 m2. I tuned it and got 50 extra hp for 1k. I think m2 is a better buy in manual (it's not awd) because I get the same power as an m4. Incdently, an m3 tried to race me and with the tune, I was able to pass him pretty easily. Something to think about. Btw, you NEEED a short shifter if you get manual. Bmw does not do a good transmission for manual. Because you have a clutch valve that does some artificial stuff.
I would definitely go with M2 because the rear looks sportier, price is a factor, rear wheel drive only, slightly smaller, I believe just looks cooler. And I’d definitely get the manual transmission!! The difference between auto and manual is not significant enough to want an auto. Plus manual is so much more involved and enjoyable! M2 FTW 🙌
Having driven both cars, the M2 is the performance winner. Especially if you want the most fun for your money and want rwd/manual. It sounds a little better, handles tighter/has better steering and overall just feels more like a purposeful sports car, whereas the M4 feels like a grand tourer. Of course, move up to the automatic and (especially) xDrive and it’s almost a different car. But manual rwd M2 vs manual rwd M4, I think the clear winner is the M2, unless you prefer the fit and finish/refinement of the M4 (available full Merino leather, individual paint, slightly better materials at the bottom of the door, power trunk, ventilated seats, forged wheels) or prefer its looks. I didn’t know the M2 could be had with ventilated seats? Not here in Canada…
M2 or M3 Competition xDrive. Would never get an M4, I like four doors better and more space too (same form factor) , but the M2 is such a good deal and it’s a nice small car

Stuff like 360 degree camera, ventilated seats, the customization you get for trims and stuff makes a car more of your own, where g87 interior options are limited. As good as they feel, the carbon paddles, they don’t add engagement to me at least, and my daily drives have barely any traffic so the fun of a manual made sense, but the manual felt more fun at legal speeds compared to m3/m4 comp, thats why I went g87.
If you’re shopping manual it’s a toss up based on your preference. Between the automatic versions the M4 crushes the M2. More than a second 0-60mph difference is massive and 10.9-11.1 quarter mile depending on surface at 124mph+. I have a ‘24 M4 Comp Xdrive (Previously owned manual G8X cars). We’re lucky to have both options available, I just wish the M2 tail lights were a nicer design.

Love the additional interior options on the G82 as well, and IMO exterior styling is much more badass especially with the right mods. So much happier with my M4. That being said, the M2 is arguably best value for the money tbh.
Oh nice! You definitely get a bit more. Certainly are paying for it once you go Comp xDrive. I think the base model M4 is not worth it. But the xDrive is a super high end performance car!
it seems the engineers have reached the physical limit of that 3L engine, and intentionally made the M2 heavier to slow it down. Otherwise it would be faster than the M4 on paper.
Possibly. The M2 could be a better car then the base M4 but they won't allow that. I think it's a much better deal. If you go M4, might as well go xDrive Comp
@@BrosFOURRSpeed The G87 M2 got some stick too when it came out, but I think it looks great. Not quite as 'pretty' as the F87, but I am slightly biased as I have an OG M2 hahah ...

True. But keep in mind the price point. Obviously the xDrive M cars are faster. But they cost well into the $90k range. M2 can be bought in the $60k range and still make a good 700 HP with mods since it's the same engine. Just RWD has its limits
Sorry disappointed about this review. You insistently wanted to mention the M2 with manual transmission, adding unnecessary considerations. Two, you are comparing apples and oranges, a base model versus a better optioned model M4. The M2 is a base model while the M4 is an x drive with lots of options while you could have compared the M2 with the M4 S drive. The M2 fully optioned matches the M4 in almost every single option except for more options in the interior seats and more exterior colors. I was expecting a better functional and performance comparison to justify the extra MSRP for the M4 versus the M2. The value added of the M4 as a second personal sports car does not exist. The M2 is more versatile and fun to drive in both highway and in “rural wavy roads”. I expected more from the review this time. I guess I was spoiled by previous reviews from your channel. I have test drive both models before placing my order and I am going with the fully loaded (no carbon seats) M2 with Grigio Telesto, Black/Red Seats and the M driver’s package as well as the myriad of options available. I will be saving approximately $30K by taking the M2 route as well as having a better driving position in the M2.
M2 is a great value for an M car! However the xDrive M4 is a totally different car for sure and is more for speed. The base M4 I don't think is worth it since it's basically the M2 for more money
Yeah depends on which M4 you go with. The M4 Comp xDrive is a huge step up in performance. More on the level of a Nissan GT-R. The base M4 is practically the M2 for money with no good reason. So depends on which trim M4 you go with. M2 is solid tho with all the power needed and options available without going crazy on price. I feel the xDrive Comp is the only M4 worth going for since it delivers a crazy amount of power with traction to back it up. If not, M2 is the way to go
Thanks for quick response. It coincides with my pov. The m4 competition x drive fully loaded ( no carbon seats) with the British racing green Metallic is almost $115k. Compared to $79k for the M2 MSRP. Is my second car a personal sports car for track and weekend fun.
Yeah to get the xDrive you need to spend a lot. I've spec'd one the way I like it with just bucket seats and it's about $95k. M2 with the seats is $72k. So that AWD makes you spend a lot. Wish the M2 had an xDrive model
sadly there is no perfect B58/S58 BMW in this generation. Z4 terrible front end, M4/M3 Horrible grill, m2 terrible rear, Supra Horrible interior. The only decent looking BMW is the M340i but that doesn’t come in manual.
I (rented on TURO commuted with a 2021 M4 comp rwd for a few days and was disappointed. The suspension was WAY too stiff for daily driving, even in comfort mode. RWD wouldn't hook and the traction control was too aggressive, turn it off and its a drift machine. Basically couldn't enjoy the power until at highway speeds...The S58 is great especially for modding, but doesnt sound great. The fake shift sounds are annoying and corny. The brakes were embarrassingly noisy, sounded like a bus. I like the size and price of the M2, but if its like the M4 comp RWD (harsh ride over imperfect roads, can't put the power down, would be a hard pass! BTW, I did rent a modded M3 xdrive and loved it.
M4 competition is AWD though...we had one for a week and I loved it, rode great and had plenty of traction. It's a top pick of mine when I need some more space. No idea what fake shift sounds or noisy breaks you referring too, never experienced that.
How do you take photos of cars? This shows off more of the wheel and looks better. Not sure why you say “still feel the need”…you can take pics how you’d like to, this is what I prefer.
@ it really makes it difficult to understand the relationship/fitment of the front wheels related to the rest of a car. When you see a car going down the road, all 4 wheels are pointed in the same direction. You can see how they fit within the well, tire gap, ride height and overall fitment of wheel design related to the design elements of the car. Therefore, parked with wheels forward gives a viewer a much better idea to imagine what the car looks like parked or moving down the road. The turned wheel thing is so 80’s. My honest opinion and explanation for it. By the way, still like and will continue watching the channel. 👍
Basically, the two series is closer to a one series then it is to four series. The four series comes equipped with standard options that the M2 doesn’t have. M2 doesn’t have power lift trunk or ambient light inside. It’s a basic of the basic bmw entry level coupe. The M4 is a luxury coupe while the m2 is a sub compact entry level sports car
Yeah the 4 will have a bit more feasters. But just looking at power and performance. The M2 and the base M4 are practically the same car. The xDrive cars cost a ton more but you of course gain extra performance. So they have a wide spectrum

M4 and m3 hit 7s 1/4 mile already m2 hasn’t 😴
Are those xDrive models? Thats why then. Hard to have a RWD only car stack up to AWD in a straight line
@ tell that to bmw not me 🤷🏻♂️… M3/4 will always be the superior car
Couldn’t agree more with this. M2 all the way! 🙌🏼
Yeah I could see that a bit. All great cars tho to be honest
The Real similarity is tremendous uglines on the front.
Not everyone is a fan of either. Looks good in person
M4 looks better M2 looks like a toy car
If you think the M4 looks better, I'd hate to see your goofy wife.
We seem to have a 50/50 in the comments lol!
Why do people still feel the need to turn the front wheels on a parked car for photos? Someone please stop this nonsense.
I would take the M2 over bugs bunny
Interesting description..
Ugliest bmw designer should be fired.
Looks are subjective, it’s not stopping sales, I’d buy one.
@ it’s also the fastest model around the Nurburg so that’s a bonus. M4 csl >>>
