Great review. I am in the exact position as you for ownership, I had the 2018 M3 Competition and made the switch to the 2019 M2 Competition. I have had mine for over 1500 miles and have the same confirmed opinion!
I owned a 718 Cayman S and now drive an M2 Competition....over 10,000 on both. I can fill in the blanks for you. The steering on the Cayman was much more precise....worlds apart. The M2 has more body roll in a corner. The M2 brakes are better though. Generally I drive the M2 harder than the Cayman but that doesn’t influence these observations. Fit and finish are equal. The Porsche climate control and other wizardry was annoying. BMW is much better in that area.
Keith Yuen .....for pure driving fun the Cayman S is a better choice. Of course the Porsche MSRP is about 20k more. Let’s face it, they really aren’t in the same class although I’ve read that BMW built the M2 to lure customers away from the Cayman. The Cayman isn’t a top seller in the Porsche line so I’ll bet the M2 is making more money for BMW.
Fellow M2Comp manual owner (managed to get one of the last allocations in '21). Funny thing about the transmission options, the 6spd is actually a few tenths quicker than the DCT in the M2C, because of the gear ratios. The 6 spd is 0-60 in 3.9 secs The DCT is 0-60 in 4.1 secs So you're really not sacrificing any speed by going with the manual in this car. Now, the thing with the DCT is, with the new, ugly G87 M2 just coming out, it's automatic is a fairly lame torque converter, so there is something to be said about the DCT in the M2C. It will go down in history as an excellent transmission, no torque-converter can match the ferocity of the DCT shifts (even if I am personally a manual guy). I have a feeling both the manual and DCT versions of the M2C will end up being equally coveted by collectors in the future, with the f87 M2C truly being the last BMW of it's kind, and it will be remembered as the last generation for the DCT and one of the final manual M cars, on top of that. The G87 has a chance at being remembered for being the last manual M car, but I just don't see it becoming anywhere near the level of "classic M car" status that the F87 has, arguably, already received. The G87 is too big, the design is too divisive, and it's really not any faster than the M2Comp is. Plus, despite the S58 engine being a beast, the S55 is just as durable and it's a way higher revving engine than the S58. The only major difference between the S58 and the S55, is that the S58 has a lower compression ratio and more boost, but the S55's combination of higher compression and a way higher redline just give it so much more character. Both engines seem to be equally easy to squeeze extra power out of, so I guess if you prefer just straight brute-force boost, go for the S58, but if you prefer a more racetrack oriented and rewarding engine that loves to be revved, get yourself an S55 engined car.
Just did Euro Delivery on one of these and drove ~2000 miles across 7 countries. Fantastic car. Handles so well, fast, comfortable. Small fuel tank, though.
You belong in every bmw owners youtube channel. The way you present yourself and "these masterpieces" are in a whole different level. Best reviewer out there. Magnificent job.
Thanks for the great review. I like to note the M2 competition at 3600lbs is only 25lbs lighter compared to a M4 at 3625lbs curb weight. I guess a M2 is also a pig based on the curb weight, but the M2 has less intrusive mdm mode to make it more fun along with its shorter wheel base makes it feel more nimble. The M2 also has noticeable less steering effort compared to the M3/M4. M2 is also missing a head up display. I personally decided to keep my M3 after driving a M2 Competition.
Thanks for also making me feel better about my F80 ZCP lol. All these positive reviews of the M2 making me feel like I may have spent too much on mine hahha
Couldn't have said it better. The M3/M4 weigh similar curb weight in comparison to the M2 competition. The shorter chasis in the M2 makes the car feel lighter and more nimble. I prefer the carbon fiber roof, adjustable suspension, softer leather, larger tachometer display, four doors, gloss carbon fiber and smoother ride of my M3. The M2 competition is nice but I prefer what the M3 f80 offers in comparison.
@@jacksontan1360 the regular M2 is not used in comparison here but since you brought it up I will address it. Yes the regular M2 is lighter but its motor doesnt perform with as much efficiency as the actual M motor in the M2 competition. Due to the regular M2 not having that extra turbo bolted onto it and chasis strengthening applied in the competition M2 the 200lb weight advantage is not as beneficial as one would believe.
love the honest review. Just picked up an m240i, but I'd love to be on your guys' level with the M's! I've driven the M2 Comp, the M3, (not the M4 so I can't speak for that) and M340i, All wonderful machines, but there is just something about the 2 series that just feels right. Nice and nimble, just kind of feels like a simple no B.S. M car. But definitely personal preference like you said, considering you have your reasons for the M3. Each car has its perks for sure.. Love your channel and your car brotha, keep it up!
Great review! I've been daily driving a regular M2 for 2 years, and I love it. Speaking of kids, I have 3 small ones. They have no complaint getting in or out of the back seat, and I think the back seats are perfect for small kids. I saw you have 2 boosters in the back of M3 so I assume your kids are less than 8, which is even younger than my oldest one. I don't see why that would stop you from getting M2 instead. Oh, I forgot to mention we have 3 cars including a minivan in the house. Maybe that's why my wife gave it a go. :P
Great video man. Gotta give it to you, you know how to come up with great content. I’m not sure why people are taking so long to subscribe to your channel. Keep up the great work bro. Appreciate your work.
Great video and pleased you loved the M2C - I’ve had mine 2 months, handling, superb and first car I’ve had for a long time which makes me want to just go drive! I think it may be overpowered for street légal use - could definitely lose it when flooring the throttle even with DTC on - would love to see you take one on the track Tommy! Mine had a couple of warranty issues, a faulty O2 sensor in the exhaust and a cracked weld on a transmission cooler. Only two annoying things for me - having to subscribe for Apple CarPlay and on the sunroof, the pop up front spoiler actually increases wind noise, rather than reduces it! - sort of same philosophy as porting engine noise through the sound system. I love the CF OEM bling - really high quality - I’ve got the rear diffuser but will go front lip, boot wing spoiler then sill trims and probably a bonnet down the line. I won’t change the wing mirrors as i think the 2 tone black/white looks cool.I think the weight of the stock boot probably useful on the rear axle. There is a CF roof option but I think that would be best factory fitted. Evolve Auto fitted one in their M2GTS project and Imrân reckoned all the interior trim and glass needed removing and too 3 days - Ouch! Kids OK in the back but I’m 6 ft and would not be happy travelling in a rear seat
At 13:17 I couldn’t help but laugh. That “Trailside” sign and incline into the parking lot gave away the area you were driving in, I do my testing on the same lol those roads are right behind my house.
Thanks for the great review. Now, I'm dying to drive one with the new S55 engine. A while back, I drove a 2017 M2 (Comp??) and found it to be a wee bit harsh. Bought a 2017 CPO M240i (6MT) and it's just soft/hard enough for my tastes. Plus, I can keep my Toyota pickup with the change.
DCT all the way. The manual has rev match that can’t be turned off without turning off dsc, plus it has an anti stall feature where you can just let the clutch out and it will raise the idle for a smooth takeoff.
Tommy I have a 7 and a 5 year old and have an M2c that I use as a family car sometimes. I ordered a aa midpipe for it should be here next Friday. Thanks for the diy video. Will be using yours to help on the install.
i love the M2 comp...i have a 2018 M4 comp...i just wished they had made the M2 lighter, but in fact they are the same weight as mine, so for me its M4 all day long
Great review on this M Car. I've being watching yours and Nick Murrays reviews on the M3/M4 for the past week. I didn't even consider the M2/M2 Comp until watching this review. I have no kids to think about so this is a viable option for me now. I need to get out and test drive one soonest. Cheers from the UK
Hey Tommy, M2 Comp is not that much lighter than M4 ZCP (lighter than M3 ZCP yes). Figures differ depending on country and region but they are almost same weight. I came from M2 then M3 ZCP. Now with Panamera GTS. I miss my M2 soo much so I put deposit on M2 CS :) cant wait to see her next year :)
No - thank you! Very informative video, love the drive by shots, your take on the car as an M3 Competition owner and the set up of on the M2C is spot on perfect - exactly as I would want it only with a sunroof (no comment). I've seen some of your other vids where you explained what the different year benefits of M3's which also was informative. Your car rocks!! Thanks for the well spoken content 🙌
Great review. Nobody ever rides in the backseat of my M3, because of that I would definitely consider the M2 Comp. Especially in that Hockenheim Silver.
Good review Tommy. I don't think I could live with the 40hp less then a M3 or M4, but I guess it's a trade off for the better handling ability. Once again good video
The steering Tommy probably feels slightly better because of the CCM brakes, remember you have a lot more benefit from less unsprung weight... on the front wheels...
I looked the M5 and M850i and thank god my dealer also had a M2 Competition for me to test drive as I came away knowing the new M2 Competition is THE “M car”. The balance and performance is leaps above all the other (larger) M models. It’s a rock star. The M3/M4 is just too damn big and the size of a 5 series just a few years ago. FYI, the back seats are a lot larger in the M2C than the 911 C4S I traded in.
Great video. The M2 Competition is arguably the epitome of BMWs slogan: "Sheer driving pleasure". In manual, it has few competitors as the ultimate all round day to day tool. There are very few cars that you can develope a personal relationship with so quickly - it is that good everyday... but... In comparison to the M4 comp, which is colder, edgy and unforgiving... it really cannot compare - the M4 is really a completely different beast for those who can exploit it. People just dont understand BMW M that well anymore and I am happier for it. The M4 comp at its limit really does step into its element and will reward you with a shattering experience if you choose to learn its balance. Simply put, the M2 is wow at first and keeps you yearning for more in the end. It is the opposite with the M4...
I really like that you're not driving like an idiot 👍 A lot of car reviews - even those which are shown on TV - feature some dumbass "testdrivers" who drive on public streets very risky and much closer to their personal limit than they believe to be (which actual shows their quality as a driver because an experienced and good driver knows his limits because he works on it just on track). Everyone can see that these morons are obviously far away from good driving. You drive calm, collected and responsible, though enjoying the car and the ride. Great job, this is how a car review on public streets has to be done 💪
the M2 cp its 110 lbs heavier than the M3 and 150 lbs heavier than the standard M2 . The M2 cp its a very heavy vehicle. Weight makes a difference on racing aplications
Blacken because the engine and brakes it weight more but doesn’t mean it performs better or its better than previous M2 or M3. You will never see an authentic race car with extra added weight. Also cornering with tue m2 cp its even worst than M3 and standard M2.
RobDTom its not better, its just different, and doesn’t mean It perform better. First M2 has had zero issues since its release date, not same with the s55 engine with has had issues, google it. The M2 cp its extremely heavy ( 3600 lbs ) , even heavier than the 2019 M3 sedan 4 door ( 3490 lbs ) basically its the M3 weight plus 110 lbs fitted on a M2 chassis, terrible!! .
I have an E92 M3 manual now and have been debating whether to move to a M4 or M2 competition in a year or so. I haven't driven either and was leaning toward the M4, but your review has me rethinking this. I really like the look of the M2 (hips get me every time). Granted driving the cars will be the deciding factor. My plan is to hang into the e92 M in addition to whatever I pick up. In any event, great review 👍🏽
My guy Alejandro... See him everyday on West end in Manhattan with the big bumper pads so people don't mess his pretty car up lol gotta do it to keep this beauty pretty.
Tommy: 👍🏼 awesome video I’m glad that you love the baby M4 I am the proud owner 2016 M2 alpine white -6 speed. My daily driver looks very similar to the car in the video carbon fiber bits 👊🏻 I live in New York State I decided to get a custom white NYS plate to match my white exterior! Also thank you Alejandro for driving so Tommy could review your car 💪🏻
M2C has a lot of body roll, detuned from the factory and heavy af. Still needs a crank hub if you are going to tune as well. I had a regular M2 for a year and just swapped it for an M4C. The M4C is just the perfect all around car. You can drive it relaxed and the interior is so nice it feels like you are in a real luxury car which the M2 never does imo.
Hey man, please review the Cayman, Supra, and 2019 Gt350 next if you can. I'd like to compare your thoughts to what the pros are saying over at CarandDriver magazine.
I just picked up f80 and is still in the honeymoon phase. The M2 is just not for me, I wanted a 4 door because of my kid and also I just love the look of the F80. Plus I’m a 6 feet over 200lbs, M2 just feels small to me.
Does it feel much narrower? I like a car to be easier to place on the road. Less worry about scraping hedges on country roads or meeting big cars / trucks / tractors coming the other way when at speed.
The M2 looks good, compact with some muscularity, and ok..it looks good, this car looks nice from the front, now i am seeing it from the front quarter and it still looks good, but ooh, wait a minute, now i see the rear - never mind.
Thought your channel was familiar... I saw your video on the collection of your M3. M2 Competition is my favourite car 🤞I'll be able to get one someday.
Does it have hill assist and auto rev matching? Have you driven a Mustang Bullitt? It’s cool looking in dark green; has lots of V8 power, exhaust sounds fantastic and only comes in manual.
@@kamilm4656 its certainly OEM part , so you wont risk any guarantee . check out gercollector on insta , he has every carbon piece from m performance mounted on his m2 competition
The M carbon roof is not a factory option, but it is definitely an available option. Needs to be installed at port or by dealer. The M2CS will have it standard.
I’m having the current crisis on which one to buy . An m2c or m3.... I also have kids which makes me go down the m3 route and the wide arches off the m3 make it stand out so much . But there’s something about the m2c that I really really like ..... I got until may to decide ! Lol
I love how he blacked out the rear red deflectors in the rear bumpers! It looks like air vents now! This is what the M2 rear is missing IMO! Or did you remove them completely? I can not tell but it looks dope.
lol, His first m2 which was in an accident is accually fixed and for sale at fb marketplace in ny. Current owner told me there was just some minor front and rear damage.
Hey tommy great video as always, question a little of topic, which model Porsche do you hear most enthusiast say is very similar in performance and handling on track to BMW m3/m4/m2. Thanks as always for your advice.
I'm in the market for a car, and I have been cross shopping the following: Camaro ZL1 (1LE package), Shelby GT350, Toyota Supra, and the M2. Been shopping and researching for about a month now, and I am strongly leaning towards the M2. I had also been considering a used M3/M4, but this video has helped convince me that is not the way to go.
RobDTom just remember, M2 Comp is a heavy car that actually feels heavy at least on stock suspension it is. ZL1 is. Completely different league performance wise.
@@timmietz The M2 *is* heavy, but it didn't feel heavy to me when I drove it. I support lightweight cars (I have owned an MR2, Lotus Exige S, Porsche Boxter Spyder and 3rd Gen RX7) and I think it's sad that cars like the M2 and ZL1 (and Shelby GT350 etc.) all weigh so much. There aren't a lot of lightweight cars out there anymore (Miata is too underpowered for my taste)
Amen, brother!! These are the light weight cars (at least they all felt light on their feet) that I have driven in the last 5 years: Ferrari Scuderia 997.2 GT3RS 991.2 GT3RS 991.2 GT3 991.1 GT3RS Lamborghini Performante 2007 Z4M Coupe 2000 NSX Supercharged Of the cars on the list, I presently own the Z4M and the NSX. My Z4M Coupe is modified with exhaust, headers, cams and KW3. I also own a 2020 M2 Comp which I was fortunate to drive at the Ring. Z4 M is a ballerina comparing to M2 Comp which is, by comparison, is a 5’10” boxer whose fighting weight is 180lbs. Just my $0.02.
Someone actually got a quicker 0-60 time with the 6MT, pretty sure it was this car. They said they were able to slip the clutch slightly more effectively on launch compared to the ECU on the DCT...
@@TommyLGarage found it: www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a22574455/2019-bmw-m2-competition-first-drive-review/ Yeah way funner, I drive a 335is 6MT hopefully will get into an M next hah.
Tommy great video! Quick question because I didn’t hear you talk about it in this video. How was the suspension and how low was the suspension put on the set up?
Suspension felt great similar to my car. Different settings were noticeable. It was fairly low but I am used to driving a lowered car so it’s no issue.
Great review. I was always wondering how the M3 owner's opinion on on M2. I saw some picture on new 2 series four door sedan. May be there will be four door M2 in the bag in future???
I am dingle and really love the S55 engine this the M3. But due to finances I had to wait and postpone. Finally I am ready but cannot order a new M3 but the M2 has been on my radar. Long story short you helped make me finally decide. Thank you soooo much great sir. Keep up the great videos please. Till next video!
I own a M3 cs and I'm now the market for an M4 I always wanted one and the M3 is so practical being able to seat up 4 people so you can take your family out with it ...... my Brother is in the market for an sports car or atleast an entry level sport car I advice him to go for the M2 being much more affordable than then the other M cars but his biggest concern is that it's a coupe and he wouldn't be able to seat more people comfortably 😂😂😂😂🔥 I told him that's why I bought myself first the M3 because I know soon or later seating arrangements will come into play soon wen you start a family and stuff but his young so he dont have to be concerned about that now
I saw that honestly think they got a car with break issues and their complaints about steering, I think for some reason BMW always gets compared against hydraulic steering rack, those days are not coming back
That review is the only one in the world where M2C didn't rate well. Seemed biased and usual pretext... "the M2CS is coming, so the current M2C is not as good". Bad journalism.
awesome review! thank you for just filming the cars, I hate it when people review cars but have the camera on their face for 99% of the time. thanks!

Nope - it was DIY, but it's easy to paint
Tommy I have a 7 and a 5 year old and have an M2c that I use as a family car sometimes. I ordered a aa midpipe for it should be here next Friday. Thanks for the diy video. Will be using yours to help on the install.
Heh get m3
another awesome video Tommy! Thank you for your input - you have great videos / excellent content!
Thanks! Awesome to hear
i love the M2 comp...i have a 2018 M4 comp...i just wished they had made the M2 lighter, but in fact they are the same weight as mine, so for me its M4 all day long
Good point actually
Yes, I too was surprised not a great weight savings with smaller M2C
I've been looking into a F80 M3 or M2C. This video makes me want the M2C more but it is more expensive than a used F80 right now.
It’s the hype. They will go down in value
Thanks for watching! I was pleasantly surprised about how much I liked this car.
Excellent review and not having a bunch of music priceless!
Thank you!! Means a lot
Wow! CS is going to be a beast
You can buy the carbon fiber hood from BMW and have it port installed.
I didn’t know that! Thanks
My favorite M2 Competition vid - watched over a dozen time 🤘
Thank you!!!
Thanks for the well spoken content 🙌
biggest difference gotta be the wheelbase, great car tho. almost picked one up instead of my F80!... cheers, and nice video bruv.
Totally agree
Hockenheim silver is absolutely stunning in pictures. I so need to see this color IRL.
Agreed. It’s one of the best colors I’ve seen
Great review. Nobody ever rides in the backseat of my M3, because of that I would definitely consider the M2 Comp. Especially in that Hockenheim Silver.
That silver is stunning! Similar to Suzuka Gray
Great review! I’ve only seen two of your videos (today) and already subscribed.
Thank you. That means a lot!
Good review Tommy. I don't think I could live with the 40hp less then a M3 or M4, but I guess it's a trade off for the better handling ability. Once again good video
JB4/MAP1 will fix that for less than 800Usd
I guess it’s a software restriction. Jailbreak it and u get a beast! ;-)
@@luanshaqiri1611 same s55 engine, just detuned. Bootmod or jb4 can remap the engine in a few clicks
It’s easy to “fix” with a tune
The steering Tommy probably feels slightly better because of the CCM brakes, remember you have a lot more benefit from less unsprung weight... on the front wheels...
That’s actually an excellent point
Alan Hunt They’re not ccm, just larger and updated steel’s.
@@effa114 Your right this specific car is not on CCM but the CCM principle would apply if Tommy wants better steering feel.
It’s such a well rounded car. I agree
great video as per usual from you! Keep up the good work
Thank you !!
A BMW 2 door manual in a cool color always has been and always will be
"The Ultimate Driving Machine." I mean really what more could you ask for?!
More power and wider rear tires :$
When you're doing the in-cabin view while driving, are you recording on your Sony or GoPro?
GoPro
I mean my M3 keeps me on my toes too
I really like that you're not driving like an idiot 👍
A lot of car reviews - even those which are shown on TV - feature some dumbass "testdrivers" who drive on public streets very risky and much closer to their personal limit than they believe to be (which actual shows their quality as a driver because an experienced and good driver knows his limits because he works on it just on track). Everyone can see that these morons are obviously far away from good driving.
You drive calm, collected and responsible, though enjoying the car and the ride.
Great job, this is how a car review on public streets has to be done 💪
Your comment means a lot to me and I really appreciate the kind words. I try to stay true to myself and not do anything over the top
Damn I'm loving this video. Nice guys. Your number one fan from South Africa
Thanks !!!!!
The stock exhaust sounds pretty darn good from outside. From inside wish there was a little more drama. Painting it blk is a nice move.
I put two big car seat in my M2. It’s not a problem.
You sir are my hero!!!
Just signed for the same car (minus the carbon fiber kiddie bits), also in Hcokenheim Silver. Wednesday it should be ready :)
Congrats!!! You will love it.
the M2 cp its 110 lbs heavier than the M3 and 150 lbs heavier than the standard M2 . The M2 cp its a very heavy vehicle. Weight makes a difference on racing aplications
juan cruz do you know why it weighs more?
@@Suldusk It weighs more than the prior M2 because it has a heavier (better) motor from the M3/M4
The M2 cp its extremely heavy ( 3600 lbs ) , even heavier than the 2019 M3 sedan 4 door ( 3490 lbs ) basically its the M3 weight plus 110 lbs fitted on a M2 chassis, terrible!! .
@@juancruz-jg5pq Nope, it's better.
Thanks. I think you can’t go wrong with any car. If you plan on tracking it then I say M2. For daily and occasions track I say M4.
That's a beautiful M2 C. Love that he keep it looking OEM. To be honest, I think it looks better than the M3. Sorry Tommy. : )
I don’t disagree ! Especially the front
The colour of that M3 is outstanding!
Thanks!
My guy Alejandro... See him everyday on West end in Manhattan with the big bumper pads so people don't mess his pretty car up lol gotta do it to keep this beauty pretty.
Haha yes that’s him!
Tommy: 👍🏼 awesome video I’m glad that you love the baby M4 I am the proud owner 2016 M2 alpine white -6 speed.
My daily driver looks very similar to the car in the video carbon fiber bits 👊🏻
I live in New York State I decided to get a custom white NYS plate to match my white exterior!
Also thank you Alejandro for driving so Tommy could review your car 💪🏻
I’m glad you liked it! If you ever wanna come down we could drive yours. I’d be curious to see how the non-comp car compares
Tommy L Garage : how can I get a hold of you?
-ADR
My pleasure!
That’s a good point
Great looking spec M2. Looks fantastic with the black wheels and carbon bits. Just a shame you didn't spank it harder in the video!
Ahh not my car but we are going to the track with it early next year
Are M2s/M3s good for daily’s? Got a good life expectancy?
Oh yes. Especially the s55 motor
Hey man, please review the Cayman, Supra, and 2019 Gt350 next if you can. I'd like to compare your thoughts to what the pros are saying over at CarandDriver magazine.
I’d love to get my hands on them!
Great review and comparison. Thanks a lot, Tommy!
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful!!!!!
Sounds good too!
I just picked up f80 and is still in the honeymoon phase. The M2 is just not for me, I wanted a 4 door because of my kid and also I just love the look of the F80. Plus I’m a 6 feet over 200lbs, M2 just feels small to me.
M2 drives very well
Does it feel much narrower? I like a car to be easier to place on the road. Less worry about scraping hedges on country roads or meeting big cars / trucks / tractors coming the other way when at speed.
he got hit on a highway ..... yea, some jerk decided to drive in reverse.... :))))
Black Lines Matter hahaha funny
Sweet vid. Sweet car. Probably drives like a kickass go-kart
Exactly !
The M2 looks good, compact with some muscularity, and ok..it looks good, this car looks nice from the front, now i am seeing it from the front quarter and it still looks good, but ooh, wait a minute, now i see the rear - never mind.
Haha fine fine
@@TommyLGarage Good video though Tommy - as always. I gave you a Thumbs Up.
Thought your channel was familiar... I saw your video on the collection of your M3. M2 Competition is my favourite car 🤞I'll be able to get one someday.
Thanks! And best of luck! And I appreciate you sticking around the channel.
@@TommyLGarage Thanks bro ;)
M2CS is on the way. This should be a beast.
I wonder if it will be priced out
@@TommyLGarage any CS models ain't cheap so...
Does it have hill assist and auto rev matching? Have you driven a Mustang Bullitt? It’s cool looking in dark green; has lots of V8 power, exhaust sounds fantastic and only comes in manual.
Yes it does - it's a great feature.
and Mustang is amazing - i really like them.
I think the wheel base plays a big role in how you perceive the quicker steering feel. Are we going to hear your friends impression of your M3?
That’s a good point.
Not sure if my buddy wants to be on camera but that’s a good thought!
you can get the carbon roof from m performance .
Interesting. I gotta let the owner know
It’s not OEM part and you would most likely lost a guarantee after messing with the car structure
@@kamilm4656
its certainly OEM part , so you wont risk any guarantee . check out gercollector on insta , he has every carbon piece from m performance mounted on his m2 competition
The M carbon roof is not a factory option, but it is definitely an available option. Needs to be installed at port or by dealer. The M2CS will have it standard.
Gorgeous vehicles my gawd. I love them both.
I agree !
Awesome...I hope I can replace my M140i 6MT by this weapon soon...Every boy wants a proper M car...
It’s such a nice car
I’m having the current crisis on which one to buy . An m2c or m3.... I also have kids which makes me go down the m3 route and the wide arches off the m3 make it stand out so much . But there’s something about the m2c that I really really like ..... I got until may to decide ! Lol
Go M3.
Tommy L Garage im sure that’s what I’ll end up with . Just something about a fire orange (wrapped) m2c 700 bhp which is tempting me massively
I love how he blacked out the rear red deflectors in the rear bumpers! It looks like air vents now! This is what the M2 rear is missing IMO! Or did you remove them completely? I can not tell but it looks dope.
They're blacked out
@@TommyLGarage nice
On watching this video pal , I’ve taking the plunge and decided to swap in my M3 comp for an M2comp .......I hope I’ve done the right thing 😳
You’ll love it. Just don’t expect a lighter car...it will feel more nimble and will stop better
Tommy L Garage looking at the figures there’s nothing much in performance or weight ....just it’s shorter wheel base seems to give it an advantage
lol, His first m2 which was in an accident is accually fixed and for sale at fb marketplace in ny. Current owner told me there was just some minor front and rear damage.
So funny! He actually connected with him.
Hey tommy great video as always, question a little of topic, which model Porsche do you hear most enthusiast say is very similar in performance and handling on track to BMW m3/m4/m2. Thanks as always for your advice.
Well I think 911 turbo would be the one
Thanks.
Great video, thanks man. Getting super close to purchasing one
You will love it!
I mean you should also drive an M4 to see how you like it
RobDTom just remember, M2 Comp is a heavy car that actually feels heavy at least on stock suspension it is. ZL1 is. Completely different league performance wise.
@@TommyLGarage Yes, I did drive an M4 about a year ago. I really think I prefer the M2
These are the light weight cars (at least they all felt light on their feet) that I have driven in the last 5 years:
Ferrari Scuderia
997.2 GT3RS
991.2 GT3RS
991.2 GT3
991.1 GT3RS
Lamborghini Performante
2007 Z4M Coupe
2000 NSX Supercharged
Of the cars on the list, I presently own the Z4M and the NSX.
Interesting..>I gotta look it up .But MT is so much more fun to drive
@@TommyLGarage found it: www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a22574455/2019-bmw-m2-competition-first-drive-review/
Yeah way funner, I drive a 335is 6MT hopefully will get into an M next hah.
Tommy great video! Quick question because I didn’t hear you talk about it in this video. How was the suspension and how low was the suspension put on the set up?
Suspension felt great similar to my car. Different settings were noticeable. It was fairly low but I am used to driving a lowered car so it’s no issue.
@@TommyLGarage # is m3 and m2 same engine and same speed
Another excellent review!
Well thanks!
Tommy-great video, thanks. Does the M2 have any window tint applied, or is that the factory glass?
That is factory
What was the road you were driving on ? Please let me know
Nice video,Dakota leather in m2 looks & feels cheap, otherwise great car.M3 still my choice.
I have to say I like the way Dakota leather feels
which color best for this car, sunset orange or heckenheim silver?
Orange !
Great review. I was always wondering how the M3 owner's opinion on on M2. I saw some picture on new 2 series four door sedan. May be there will be four door M2 in the bag in future???
I really enjoyed it. I don’t think an M2 grand coupe would make sense
Traded my 6 spd f80 m3 for a 2020 M2C... I miss my yas marina blue m3.. not gonna lie.. kinda disappointed with the weight of the M2C and power
Maybe install an MPERFORMANCE suspension?
They did a comparison video of the M2 VS the new M5 and the M2 was keeping up with it, didn’t win but it wasn’t no blow out either
Considering that it’s over 200 horsepower shy of the M5 I think it did great !
You didn't list any aftermarket exhaust, was it stock? No way stock sounds this good!
Stock muffler. Single AA midpipe.
The M2 comp is a phenomenon. It's a gift from God!
Haha I wouldn’t go that far
Can you find out what he painted the rear muffler with? Also can you find out if he had all stock exhaust? Also what was his suspension setup?
Video coming soon! I’ll do a DIY
Great review Tommy! This Review helped me make my choice of M!
Good decision!!
I own a M3 cs and I'm now the market for an M4 I always wanted one and the M3 is so practical being able to seat up 4 people so you can take your family out with it ...... my Brother is in the market for an sports car or atleast an entry level sport car I advice him to go for the M2 being much more affordable than then the other M cars but his biggest concern is that it's a coupe and he wouldn't be able to seat more people comfortably 😂😂😂😂🔥 I told him that's why I bought myself first the M3 because I know soon or later seating arrangements will come into play soon wen you start a family and stuff but his young so he dont have to be concerned about that now
That’s a great point !
That M2 looking mean asf 💯💯
I agree !
I live on LI and I really want an F82. Should I be concered of winters? ahah
Not at all. I drive my car in the winter all the time. You do need dedicated SNOW tires
Doesn't the M3 & M4 have the same torque as this, 406?
Nope. M2 is detuned
@@TommyLGarage wrong. Torque is the same, only peak power is less (easy fix with a retune)
What type of paint / method did he use in painting his muffler black? And how is it holding up?
Sand and paint with high heat paint.
I did it to mine and it peeled off
Is the steering in this M2 Comp stock one ? Or moded? The grip looks nicer than stock and 2 toned.
It’s BMW MPerformance V2 steering wheel. An optional accessory.
Car and driver wasnt impress by the m2 comp lately against supra , shelby 350 and cayman , i wonder why
Maybe they drive too many good cars ? Shelby 350 is a pig
How does the M2C seating position compared to the M3/M4? I know they are the same seats, but heard about the offset seating position in the M2.
I didn’t notice anything I was very comfortable at night I think it was actually a bit more hugging if you will
All depends where u live. Would definitely take the m3 if I didn’t have to drive on small streets all the time
True
