Help please? Have you ever tried making a quilt out of chenille fabric? I have 5 yards of 60” purchased fabric & would love to be able to use it for a quilt. Not sure if the edges would fray. Do you think it could only be used as a solid backing or could I use it for individual squares?
I've never used chenille fabric, Patricia, but it sounds awesome. What I've read is that it's very durable but nothing mentioned about fraying. It's widely used for upholstery so it should cut and sew relatively well. I would think that once it's sewn it should hold up well. Try a piece or two and if it does fray a lot, give yourself a 1/2-inch seam allowance to extra hold. Happy Quilting,

The chenille I have is ribbed versus solid chenille (like you might find in a bathrobe) I’ll sew a few squares together & see if it will fray.
