I love the idea of this....but knowing how the block goes together, I would pay more attention to to the placement of the fabrics orientation and where the light blocks are in relationship to each other. Fork pins work great for the alignment of seams. Great tutorial!
Thanks for such a detailed video, hard to choose as both beautiful!. Ignore the negative comments and continue doing what you are doing. From Scotland UK x
Both are wonderful. I could see these as quilts for grand kids. I try to have throws for all of them to have a special quilt at goes house. Because they are all well used making forts or as Royal robes this pattern could be easily made up. Each child has a special binding color and their names are on the labels. Thank you so very much.
Hello, first time watching, and I am excited to watch more of your videos. I like the one with boarders. Both are amazing tho!!! Hard decision. Thank you for the very clear instructions. I can't wait for your next tutorial/video.
I just found you and I love your video. You are an awesome instructor! I like both quilts, but I think I like the one with the borders. What really surprises me is that I like it just on the sides. I'm usually very traditional and like things totally balanced, but you quilt still looks really balanced. Awesome! I'm excited to try it.
New subscriber here. Love both quilts. Will b using this method going forward. Your method instruction resonates with me. Thanks for taking the time to share your quilting knowledge.
I love really really easy quilt ideas. I don't have the skill or patience for the fancy quilts with fancy cuts. This gives me another idea for an easy quilt. ... I like the one with no border. But they are both super cute!!
My first time watching, loved your tutorial. I think I am going to try this and put both quilts today for a huge throw with no border. Thanks for sharing talents with us. 😊
Hmm…I think I’m buying a layer cake tomorrow!!😊 Love this easy pattern. Can find the amount of fabric to purchase for the sashing though. 😕 Love how you showed the stages. Great tutorial! Love both quilts, too!
@@ashley-sunnymade2425 I just noticed your little sign. I'm a native Nevadan/Renoite, currently displaced in NC, but returning soon after I retire!! Looking forward to more quilty good stuff!!
Beautiful! I saw another quilt that was similar but the squares were much smaller. I like the size of squares you use. The design was called Fashion Fusion. I took a screenshot of it but never did get the instructions. You made it look very easy. I think I would keep the sashing the same width throughout. I don't need to start off estimating the wrong width on the wrong block! I like both of the quilt designs, but like the first one more since it resembles the quilt I saw and wanted to make.
I love your video! No worries! Copyright for ideas and procedures is not as straight forward as it seems. One cannot copyright a recipe and its ingredients and instructions, for example, but copyright is applied to a cookbook of collected recipes. Certainly, check out the copyright issues that were brought up in these comments if you feel the need to. But I think you have done lovely work. Thank you!
You can do it with any square fabric. If you want to use fat quarters, you could cut them into 4- 9” x 9” square to start with. And then go from there.
I like the pattern but a stack n’ whack quilt, by that title, is normally made from layers of border fabric pinned together to perfectly align them, then they’re cut and sewn together to make kaleidoscope blocks. I’ve made a few and have to admit that your pattern is a whole lot easier to piece!
Please be aware that "Stack-N-Whack" is copy-righted by Bethany Reynolds and she has books out. I would suggest changing your title to be Whack a stack quilt (or something like that).
I wonder what year she got her trademark, do you happen to know? My Mom grew up on the 30's40s and remembers stack n whack. What she described is nothing like this, which seems a stretch to call a stack n whack.
Actually, this tutorial is Stack-n-Wack and the quilt is nothing like Bethany's. Anyone looking at the picture in the thumbnail would know it's not at all the same quilt, just like I did!

This is such a great idea, Ashley!! 😃
Glad you think so!
I loved it with the strips. Looks so much nicer. Thank you!
They are both so cute. I like the one without the border best.
Both are beautiful!

I think that one’s my favorite too.
I like both. Pretty…. Lots of options for different prints/ color schemes.
I totally agree!
I like them both. The one without the border is my favorite. 😊
I think it’s mine too.
Hmm…I think I’m buying a layer cake tomorrow!!😊 Love this easy pattern. Can find the amount of fabric to purchase for the sashing though. 😕 Love how you showed the stages. Great tutorial! Love both quilts, too!
I hadn’t calculated it, as I wasn’t sure exactly what I was doing yet. But you will need roughly 3 yds per quilt.
Both are great. I think my favorite is no borders❤❤
Thanks!
Love both of them ❤ did an awesome job on them
Thank you.
They are both lovely but i adore the red riding hood fabric on the sides.
It’s so cute! The whole line is just too cute!
Great instructions and tips! I like the one with the border on the side.
Me too!
Love them both
Me too!
I love both, infact I want to make both and keep the one with the border for myself. Beautiful
And then give the other to your best friend. ❤️
Very cool I like the longer one. I have a queen mattress. So I like larger patterns
You might try putting all the blocks together and create one big quilt. It might fit your queen.
I'm going to try this!
Hope you like it!
I like them both, I really like the one without the border better.
Thanks.
Love both quilts. Thankyou for sharing the pattern.
You are so welcome!
Like the first quilt better, but both are lovely!
Thanks!
Beautiful quilt
Thank you!
I don’t have a choice of which one I like best.
❤️
Really nice idea!
Thank you! 😊

Yes, definitely
Both are beautiful. I like the first one the best! Just found your channel. Are you in Reno??
Not anymore. We relocated to Boise.

It’s such a fun one.

Thank you for spending your time to teach Love your quilt and love the one behind you What is it called !❤️❤️❤️cherie
It’s called Sunny Star. It’s a free pattern sent to your email, and I didn’t a video series on it. Check out the description box.
Caught a quick glimpse of your label on the back… Where do you get those?
I bought them from a seller on Etsy. You can get them printed lots of different ways on there.

Thank you for the info and encouragement.
You can make any quilt and call it whatever you choose 👍
Thanks!
I like the concept, I am not a fan of the sashing in the individual blocks. I think I will try one without all the sashing. Thanks for the video
Great idea! I’ll have to try that way next. Thanks!
Love this quilt, what is the pattern for the quilt gehind you, that’s pretty too.
It’s my Sunny Stars quilt. There’s a download link in the description box if you want it. It’s free.
@@ashley-sunnymade2425 thank you so much, can’t wait to try this pattern!💞
What other sizes would you recommend don’t have 10x10
You can do it with any square fabric. If you want to use fat quarters, you could cut them into 4- 9” x 9” square to start with. And then go from there.
❤ Both a great, xx❤
Thank you! 😊
I just found your channel, I reallly like it, I am trying to get the Sunny Star pattern but it is not working, any idea how to download this pattern?
I’m sorry, the automation was turned off, I’m not sure how that happened… technology. I restarted it and it should have sent it out. Thanks.
@@ashley-sunnymade2425 Thank you for getting back to me, I tired to get the pattern it isn’t working.
What was the quilt behind you ❤
It’s the Sunny Star quilt. I put out a 4 video series of it.
❤❤❤❤
❤️
Cute fabric. I think it is supposed to be "whack" though. As in Stack 'n Whack.
Thanks!
Borders on side, but liked both!
Me too!
the border one

Border one

Like your pattern but extremely disconcerting that you don’t have the finished quilt in the background. We have no idea what we are creating.
Thank you for the comment. Ilike to be able to show the finished quilt at the end, but you can always skip ahead and see how it turns out.
Love your channel. My favorite is the one without the border

My grandma gave me one of those when I graduated high school, I didn’t realize that’s what it was called. Thanks for the info!
And then yherewere variations. One called slice and dice.
Thanks. It’s fun to see all these ideas.
I like the pattern & your great explanation on how to make it. The title, “ stack & whack” is deceiving.
Thanks for watching!

I don’t feel there is an issue as this is a technique used by many.
Thank you, I will look into that.

Great video and the accompanying blog tutorial is something I find so useful! I appreciate the time you put into both! Thank you!

$150 for a handmade quilt is not enough. Consider how much you have in fabric, thread, and batting. With all due respect, you're under valuing yourself.
I know. I’ve been thinking a lot about this concept.
Like your pattern, but the term “Stack-n-whack” is copyrighted by Bethany Reynolds. Legally, and out of respect, you need to rename this pattern.
Thank you!
