    You were fortunate the weather and views from Travers Saddle were excellent. That place can be real hell to cross in a southerly with horizontal rain or icey conditions. It can snow up there even in mid summer when storms come from the south. Thanks for your great coverage. I hope it inspires you to discover other tramping areas in N.Z.

    Kia ora Dori, thank you for your excellent video of your hike (tramp in NZ) in my favourite place Nelson Lakes. Nelson was my home town. I tramped your route solo in 1985 as you have done, so good on you! Best wishes for more great tramping. Pete the old tramper.

    That looks amazing. The blue lake looks amazing ! !
    My partner and I will be going there soon but unfortunately we can't include blue lake in this trip. Seeing the video makes me less nervous. Never done any hike more than 3days. Video makes me more prepared mentally so I'm really looking forward to it. Hope I won't get too grumpy climbing steep mountain 😅😅

    What an awesome trip. It seems like you had the entire hike all to your self that Blue Lake was especially gorgeous.

      Hi sorry i missed replying to you! 🤦‍♀️
      I did most of the hikes in March. End of summer and i think one of the best months to avoid rain. But you never know when you are in the mountains it can change really fast 😊. Hope you had some amazing hiking adventures yourself as well 😄

    Great trip and thanks for sharing the video. How heavy was your pack for 7 days?

    • @DorisHikingAdventures
      @DorisHikingAdventures  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi i am so sorry i forgot to reply! My base weight is around 5.5kg and then adding food and water. I usually sit around the 11-12kg total pack weight for a 7 day hike. I hope this still helps - sorry again for my very late reply 😊

    Well done with your hike and video! How did you organise food for 7 days?

    • @DorisHikingAdventures
      @DorisHikingAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I carried the food for the whole trip.... check out the videos about hiking food - dehydrated pasta meals, oatmeal satchets, oat bars etc :D

      Thank you! :D It was very quiet on this track, I think because it is not that popular yet - and not classified as a Great Walk. But there was a good group of about 15 people at the huts every night :D :D. Would definitely recommend if you want a less crowded hike

    Hey Dori!
    Where does this rank in your hikes for NZ? Danya and I are considering hiking it over the Xmas break and wondering if it's a "must do". Thank you!

    • @DorisHikingAdventures
      @DorisHikingAdventures  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry for the late reply - been offline for a while 😬. This is for me in the top 3. Because it's not crowded and off the beaten track. Also one of the most beautiful hikes i have ever done - especially when you do the side trip to blue lake 😊
      Been following your adventures as well! Woop woop 😁

      No drone shots in our video unfortunately, NZ is just so strict with their rules.

      New Zealand is truly a hiking paradise when it comes to facilities, well marked routes etc
      But I am very much looking forward to the day we can travel back to Europe...I have seen so many beautiful hiking pictures lately from Switserland, Germany, Slovenia and Austria. So beautiful 😍
