With weather that good the "long way back" was well worth it. What a wonderful trip! Thanks for the natural sound effects too. It's good to get onto a ridge and hear the world breathing (I don't mean the you puffing after a steep climb 😆) and the sound of rivers, wildlife and footsteps. An awesome tramp.
Thanks very much Robin. Haha, sorry about any breathing noises. I like that it's part of the experience, like anything else that comes with tramping, so believe it's worthy to stay in. Thanks for watching
Angleus Hut, what a location!! Can totally see why it would be so popular and the weather, wow!! Just got back down from Herepai up in the Tararuas and weather was total opposite. Wind, rain and lots of cloud. Was going to push up to the summit but got forced back. Oh well, gives me an excuse to go back 😁Another banger mate and see you on the next one. 👍
@@ReviloNZwalks Yeah would rather be safe than sorry. You have to mate, it's amazing. Can get pretty brutal and steep in some parts but all part of the fun.
@@ReviloNZwalks Yeah and the Ruahines can be the same. Yup been to both. Been to roaring stag a few times. Awesome trip. When I went up to cattle ridge I spent the night at roaring stag then headed up to cattle ridge then back out. Planning on heading to Dundus hut, which is past cattle ridge, at some stage. From what I'm led to believe there is a loop that carries on from Dundus back round to Herepai although it's pretty wild apparently but would love to give that a go.
Crikey, you are very brave, did you know you could go up sunset saddle, what did the hut occupants think of that route? It looks like potential rock avalanche terrain, you have big nads. I’ve been to Cupola hut, lovely hut. Think I’ll not follow you on this one 😅
I've known about the route for a long time so was good to finally do it. It was a bit more well cairned than I expected. It's become quite common with TA walkers. Most of the others in the hut were doing the same thing. One was a mountaineer who had been attempting the surrounding peaks, so even bigger nads there haha. Cheers for watching Dave
What a beautiful trip. Those views.... Spectacular.
Cheers Peter. Awesome trip!

Amazing scenery, thank you for sharing 😃
Cheers TJ!
All of your videos could be paintings, of course, and this one was no exception. You have an "eye" for great shots. Well done. Thank you.
Thanks very much. It helps when the landscape does the talking!

Thanks heaps! Shame you couldn't make it but probably a good call. Another area I'm keen to explore sometime. Cheers

@@damonfacoory3108 So I hear about the Tararua! Have you been to Roaring Stag and Cattle Ridge?

@@damonfacoory3108 I see that potential for a loop. Looks pretty considerable, wouldn't want the weather to turn! Cheers
So beautiful, what month is this ? clarity of the water is mesmerising 😍Thanks for sharing 🙏
This was late February. Loved this trip. Thanks for watching!
