    omg the best video that finally explained my concerns. my baby is never past the first stage and is screaming after a feed. i also noticed breast softness but i pump the same amount after baby feeds as when i dont breastfeed. i tried to tell the midwife i have low supply and baby does not swallow anything but it gets brushed aside each time.

      Hi - I'm so glad it's been helpful for you. If bub is never getting to that slow nutritive suck then this definitely supports your feeling that they're not feeding effectively. It could be related to supply or it could be baby's tongue or jaw function. It would be worth seeing an IBCLC locally, or I offer online consults if you wish :) How old is your baby?

      @@alissabrownibclchello, i have the same problem, can you help me please? I don’t want to give up on breastfeeding, my baby is 1 month five days old

    • @alissabrownibclc
      @alissabrownibclc  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’d definitely encourage you to speak to your midwife or a local IBCLC for a review. Definitely don’t give up yet - the majority of breastfeeding challenges are fixable :)
      Make sure you’re offering both sides at each feed, use breast compressions during feeds and if you’re able add in some expressing to help boost supply.

    Omg!!! Why is this not common knowledge? I've just had my newborn spending 2h on that non nutritive sucking and then not settling and asking for more food. My milk is just coming in now ( day5 post partum) and i think there's just not enough for her now. Thank you for this video, sooo helpful!

    Hi !
    Your videos are so helpful.
    I need some suggestions.
    Can I use spectra pump right after giving birth ?? By keeping it with my hospital bag.

    • @alissabrownibclc
      @alissabrownibclc  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can use the spectra pump from around Day 3 once your milk supply increases, most mums find in the first few days hand expressing into a syringe or small cup is most effective whilst you're only producing colostrum.

    Thank you.. So how long should I leave him in. The butterfly phase? He spends a long time in that phase and if I take him off he wants to feed again

    • @alissabrownibclc
      @alissabrownibclc  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      A great option at that phase is to do some br3ast compression. Compress firmly around the widest part of your br3ast. Hold for around 10 seconds. Release and repeat.
      This helps to increase milk flow so see if this gets baby sucking/swallowing again.

    My baby is my 3rd and I’m struggling so much with her. I breastfed my sons 3 years each no supplementing them back to back and with my daughter I feel she’s never satisfied. She latches on and pulls away and grunts or cries while drinking on the breast. I switch over and over but she is frantic trying to latch and when she does she sucks and complains. I supplement with formula and it has me so sad. Also my breasts leak. How do I find out how much milk my breasts are making? My husband purchased the spectra for me but I rarely get anything out of it. I also pump when I’m done nursing her. Help 🥺

    • @alissabrownibclc
      @alissabrownibclc  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sounds like there’s a lot going on here for you. Have you tried at breast supplementation with the formula? This is an AMAZING way to give baby the extra milk she’s needing while stimulating your body to produce more and helping her practice skills for breastfeeding. You can use the Medela supplemental nursing system or DIY your own with a bottle and feeding tube.

      @@alissabrownibclc thank you for the reply, it has been resolved. We are only nursing now. I just had to push through and figure it out with her. We are now doing amazing. It was definitely a rough patch for both of us. To all the new mom’s struggling, hang in there! I pray you have peace and patience as I was given during these times! You are all doing amazing and it will get better. My experience: If baby seems unhappy burp them. I burp on their left side which is my right side when holding and from their lower back up. This usually has her burp a really good one and it’s back on the boob. I’ve noticed when she’s squirming or unlatching or just seemed uncomfortable at the boob or after feedings I noticed it was due to her needing to burp. Also I burp her every 5 min for her comfort. I hope this helps someone ♥️
