  • HERE’S WHAT TO DO ⬇️
Hi 👋 I’m Alissa. Midwife, IBCLC, Holistic Sleep Coach and breastfeeding mama of three.
I see so many babies who are born with significant muscular restrictions which are impacting on their feeding.
They are most common in babies who have been born after a prolonged labour, or very quick labour or those born via forceps or vacuum or who had a mal presentation at birth.
HAVE YOU NOTICED YOUR BABY DOING ANY OF THESE?
👶🏼 Preferring to always turn their head to one side
👶🏼 Tilting their head towards one side when upright
👶🏼 Struggling to open a wide mouth to latch or only holding it open for a second or two
👶🏼 Causing you pain or damage when they’re feeding
👶🏼 Feeding inefficiently, not gaining weight or feeding for long periods
All of these are associated with muscular tension and restriction
    HERES WHAT TO DO ⬇️

EASY exercises to help your baby take a DEEP LATCH
    • EASY exercises to help...
⭐️ Firstly work in conjunction with an IBCLC and a craniosacral osteopath who can support you to improve latch and release baby’s tension
You can try these exercises at home
⭐️ Try a guppy stretch - laying your baby over your lap and allowing their head to tip back. Comment guppy below and I’ll send you a link to my video on this
⭐️ Encourage baby to turn head to the other side by changing which end of their change mat you position their head on, laying them up the other way in their crib and moving their favourite toys on their play gym to the other side
⭐️ When burping your baby put them on the opposite shoulder to what you normally would
⭐️ If bottle feeding make sure you change which side you lay them on
⭐️ Try some gentle jaw massage - using finger on one cheek and thumb on the other, massaging in a circular motion to encourage the jaw to open
