I was impressed with SPY 27 when I got the P3 Lightweight on the first drop! I gifted it to a subscriber but still use my Mule in this Spyderco proprietary steel. I don't see a big future for it with S45VN being so cheap(made in bulk for many makers)and Magnacut on the horizon!
From all of my stainless only s90V had a great fine edge and now that amazing Spy27 did just as well. However I prefer Cru Wear/PD1 and 4v but they're not stainless.
Spy-27 is Vanadium Enriched, vanadium carbide is harder than natural and synthetic water stones, only CBN or Diamond is hard enough to properly machine the carbide and not tear it from the matrix, this leads to increased edge retention over other stones. To provide a comparison, it’s like using wood to chisel away at a metal block, just not the right thing to use.
Right….. 2.0 v nice… that pretty low I would use diamond for maxamet, k390, m4 15v and 10v some others . But I have sharpened s30v, s35vn, spy, bd1n and many others with only ceramic. In fact I’ve had better results then you doing that. I would bet big money if I sharpened that kife on ceramic and told you I used diamond you would not be able to tell a difference. I would also bet u could’ve t tell spy from vg10. Ur analogy is all off though it’s more like you putting premium gasoline in you lawnmower hoping u can get it done faster
Or it could be like a soft gluttonous neglected body with a voice like 12 year old hall monitor searching for the perfect tool spending all your time looking for the perfect tool instead of evaluating your own personal deficiencies and insecurities have a great life
@@williamsmith5429 you can test knives with a ceramic edge versus a vanadium edge and typically you suffer a 30% reduction in edge retention, I would notice for sure

Why would u need diamonds?
