I used dental floss for pulling the grommets through on my Pavo 20 pro. I've seen it used on quite a few drone build videos when dealing with soft mount grommets
Great video, very helpful. Just wondering if the 03 cable goes in only one way. I installed mine and it clicked into place with the blue wire on the left. I'm hoping the cable only goes in one way. Thanks.
There IS a correct orientation when connecting the cable. The JST connector should "click" into place with little effort. If you found yourself pushing down on it really hard to get it to seat, you probably have it oriented the incorrect way. The best way I recommend checking on this is to pull the cable out of the connector and check to make sure all of your pins are still in good condition and not bent or broken. I always recommend looking at the user manual when doing ANY level of assembly and installation with your drones. The manual will give you the exact schematic for what wire comes from what port and what it does for the comms on the drone.
Use floss to get those isolation rubbers on. Loop it, stick through the hole, hook the rubber, pull it through. Really handy trick I learned from Troncat
Get the Pavo 20 pro, it's a new and improved version of the one in this video. More power from better motors and 3S but for the same rough cost. The 03 air unit mounts the same. So you can follow this video for the same basic instructions on how to install it.
i recently purchased a pavo 20 pro elrs. but i am not sure if i have to remove any wir from the o3 connection. such as the sbus. since i am using an elrs controller i wonder if i am going to have any connectivity issues. Suggestions and tips much appreciated.
My guess would be no. If you purchased the ELRS model directly from BETAFPV and use an ELRS RX on your radio, then you should just need to pair it how you normally pair ELRS modules to your radio.
@@TheDroneGeek if i buy the Pavo 20 pro and install a DJI 03 Air Unit , can i use my DJI Goggle 3 and my DJI Remote Controller 3 ? or do i need my RadioMaster Boxer Crush ELRS to control it ?
You absolutely can. It took me a while, but once I got my first DIY quad airborne, I got three more behind it airborne within a week. The hardest part is tuning and configuring.
Man thanks for this awesome video. I put my Pavo20 together a couple weeks ago but I was having the camera angle tilt issue, and I had not found a definitive solution yet (I was using a zip tie to keep it in place lol). Thanks a lot! BTW- Do you have any recommendations for a sub 250g drone that is also O3 ready to bind? I want to get another quad that is maybe a bit faster or longer range than the Pavo20, while using my own O3 unit.
GEPRC Cinelog20 or 25 - they come with the O3 onboard and are incredibly reliable. Check out the store on my blog and use the link for one of those drones along with code “dronegeek5” for 5% off your order!
This video popped up on my TH-cam feed. Its clever stuff that TH-cam knows what im looking for! This by far one of the best videos on the subject. I bought a Jumper T Lite Elrs 2.4 to fly my geprc domain 3.6. Im seriously thinking i should have gone with the dji controller. Im thinking i should be able to do this? In other words just remove the elrs receiver and use the 03 air unit.
In theory you should be able to accomplish this IF the FC has the available solder pads or USB ports (RX, TX, G, 9V). However, I would actually advise against the DJI FPV Controller setup...while it is easier to configure, setup, and deploy, it's much less efficient when it comes to maintaining a reliable connection and avoiding a failsafe in flight. I have had my DJI controller failsafe on me twice in circumstances where something like ELRS or Crossfire would not have even blinked. I only recommend the DJI FPV Controller setup to folks that are either brand new to FPV or started with DJI FPV products and either don't have the funds or savvy to jump into the more technical side of configuring FPV peripherals to work with their drones. If you have the know-how and savvy (and patience lol), stick with your ELRS configuration and make that work or keep using it if it already works. If you need it in the air fast and don't have the time or know-how to properly setup an ELRS module with RX, then yeah, DJI might be the answer to your problems. Good luck either way!
@@TheDroneGeek Thankyou for the advice. Point taken. Its my intension to try and make the Jumper T work for me. Baby steps you know! By the time my Goggles arrive perhaps I will have it sorted.. Thanks again much appreciated.
The entire construction set is intended for children aged 13-15. The importance of the work performed by a man aged 40!! is too exaggerated. The detailing of the work performed is poorly visible - hands cover it. Much time is devoted to advertising unrelated to the work.🎉 😂
Criss crossing the antennas is a bad idea, you have just messed with the dipoles and have probably degraded their performance. You would be better off putting then in a vertical and horizontal orientation

That’s a solid idea! I’ll start doing that.

@@TheDroneGeek Thanks for the fast reply. It clicked in pretty easy so I'm sure it's in right.
Could you put the new o4 lite in this thing?
Wait a week and Beta will release an O4 version ;)
It’s probably only a matter of time.

Thanks brother , can the pavo 20 freestyle?

Which gloogles FPv are compatible with the DJI O3 air unit? Or only DJi Google FPV?
Only DJI as far as I am aware.

You dont have to cut the cables, the elrs is built in to the flight controller so there is no interference.

Do we need to remove the last 2 wires from the O3 connector, if we want to use any ELRS based radio?
i built my own PC, i can do this.... right?

Do I have to get dji goggles or does it work with beta fpv ones?
The Video System used in this video is a digital dji 03 unit
The betafpv goggles however use analog signal.
They WON'T work together.
The DJI 03 Air Unit is a great choice for the Pavo20, as it will allow you to record smooth 4K and 2.7K footage. its good bro
Agreed! No better choice IMO!
@@TheDroneGeek ya may be
Is the o3 only compatible with DJI goggles?
Use blue lock tight
That was my next step, but turns out the screws that come with the O3 are the way to mitigate this issue.

i was thinking the same thing, but dont know for sure, but based on expierence with wifi and other systems i learned never to cross antennas...
