ShiftingLanes That finally runs 😋 and @Tavarish, because of your 2500rpm problem... check your Crankshaft Sensor or the 2 Camshaft Sensors, kinda had the same problem
Basically this t5 engine is as close as we can get a plenty of alternative for the legendary audi quattro s1 group B glorious sound..... Me personally would slap full straight exhaust on this volvo for that reason alone 😘
The Haldex AWD is reasonable enough... Killed my tranny long before the Haldex, because it's still in working order (and fun!)! Their biggest mistake was throwing the whiteblock out and going for only inline-4 2.0! And using AW55-51, can't handle the torque it seems.
I needed a new exhaust system from the turbo to tailpipe and after watching this video I was inspired to follow suit. I ordered Re-Volv downpipe with performance cat and cat back exhaust from IPD for my 2001 V70XC, can’t wait to install it. Unfortunately Colorado law prevents me from going to a shoppe so it looks like the girlfriend and I are going to be doing this ourselves.
Funny, I got the same sounds by gutting the factory muffler and replacing the stock resonator with an 8" thrush glass pack. But mine cost about $20 including welding wire and shield gas.
I did my turbo back before the oval pipe versions were on the market. I love how my setup sounds, high flow catted down pipe is 3.5” if I recall, and the mid pipe immediately runs into a Y pipe for 2x2” mid pipes giving tons of clearance for the drive shaft then collects through a 2-in-1-out muffler. Granted yours has a slightly different motor being an R, it still sounds very similar, if anything yours is a little higher pitched so the pops are a little more noticeable, pretty fair trade off. Congrats and enjoy cuz the sound on these cars are incredible, just wait until you get some intake mods... 😁
Stock sounds good as well! I just put an electric cutout side exit and thrush super turbo muffler out back on my 98 v70xc. 19t turbo swap and cat delete
Yea not bad stock, but it’s not even a fair comparison to this turboback. Dude! Do you have a video on what that sounds like? Please make one and post here. Need to hear that beast! -Gregson
I got 3 inch steinless steel exhaust on my 2006 Volvo s60 2,5T, It’s sounded Good at beguining byt now i have delete rear mugglarna and reglages whit 3 inch pipe and sounds Better then before 😃 small modifie who can make the car be more fun to drive, i have sold my sub and amps i just lisning to my exhaust 👏💪, Your car sounds Good 👍
Sounds Amazing I wish my volvo exhaust sound that good. Mines (C70) is custom 3" from turbo sound great but was 95+db then legally had to put a extra muffler in and now I dont get that nice 5cyl growl . Maybe need to swap over for Magnaflows. The stock downpipe was larger than i thought at 2.65" Ive seen some put 4" downpipes on. The downpipe makes most of the power difference on Volvos as it can increase timing + exhast Cam angle and they are Torque on demand ecu's so my power didnt go up much but the torque did a lot and with 2 tunes I gained 68hp and 200nm of torque 268 HP 494nm torque which is mainly limited because its a auto :( Manual can get 310+ Seen some volvos with Y pipe from the down pipe to 2 cats then two straight pipes to two resonators then to dual in out muffler for dual exhuast or dual to single for one tail pipe.
it's a shame you can't do a before and after Dyno chassis test to see what the gain was. I've been wanting to do this to mine. For weight loss and better breathing.
What camera and microphone setup did you use on the interior clips where it appears the camera is mounted to the sunroof? The audio seems to pick up some foreign object striking the camera/microphone and that clicking/clank is significantly louder that the exhaust sound, e.g., 6:00 mark.
Sounds good. I have a V70 Heico with Heico dual exhaust. A Moose should.be very aware of crossing. Have you checked out your 90 angle gear? I hope it's ok.
That exhaust sounds perfectly beastly!…I’m following Eight8Fab now and will eventually spring for the exact same exhaust! A little off-topic here…What blue-tooth adaptor would you recommend for these cars? I see you’re running one from the “cigarette lighter” plug. I recently purchased a very low-mile (96K) completely stock ’05 R out here in CA, and this car is an early 00’s time capsule! Volvo Factory sub, Volvo factory aftermarket (phone-only) blue-tooth gadget at the base of the CD deck, and I found some literature with original sale, for the first-generation iPod adaptor that hardwires into the CD deck, which appears to have been installed at the factory as well! The install instructions and manual are a kinda crack-up haha! and the aftermarket components were made in Finland. So 13 years ago, an auxiliary was not offered, tape decks were of the past, and blue-tooth was just starting to be used for cellphone use. So in summery, from the factory, it appears, one would open their center console and plug in their (iPhone-4 style) charger / plug, and then the CD deck would acknowledge said Apple product…I digress…sort-of…Should I re-do the whole CD deck with a more modern unit with something that drops right in? That feels expensive…Should I find something that patches in somehow via Volvo (phone) blue-tooth? or perhaps hit the dealer to perhaps replace Apple hardwire with modern (6 style) plug What do you have going on in your V70R’s? Also… Keep an eye on your angle-gear sleeve. I JUST had to spring for that replacement job. Apparently moisture somehow got in, and washed away the oil bath. Angle gear sleeve rusted and failed, and AWD was no more. I was told the car may have sat in water for a while. Just a heads-up. Thanks.
Is this the same engine as in Ford Focus RS? V5 Turbo? It sounds almost exactly like my friends Ford Focus RS, which he sold, sadly. That thing was a beast.
Hi! I wish you will read this ;) I have V70 from 2004 year production but it's facelift model. I’ve actually been around longer than Re-Volv. I’m not some “Facebook business” I just don’t see the need to have a website. I do this in my free time and only build when someone orders. I can’t and won’t compare with IPD pricing and trust me when I say IPD can’t compare with my quality, I’ve installed plenty of IPD catbacks and there’s a reason why I get so many guys with the IPD setup wanting my exhaust tip and resonator options. There’s always going to be something cheaper, doesn’t mean it’s better. I’m glad I have over 50 customers that agree to that.
Seriously good for you, your making money doing what you enjoy doing and making extra money at your leisure. But I along with plenty of other people are not going to pay some independent guy more than a well known vendor is what Im getting at. If you were local to me and I could stop by your shop I would feel differently. But I do not feel comfortable sending that kind of cash to someone who doesnt have a secure website.
Kind of sounds like a WRX. Was that the goal? I was hoping you guys would go for the "sleeper" build. Nice and quiet, flip a switch at the light, open the valves, leave the Bro-Dude in the dust.
This can be retrofitted eventually. I’d love to do that, but funds weren’t available for that right now. Eventually, that’s something we can do. Does have a bit of Subie boxer rumble! I dig it. -Gregson

I wish that it would make sense for me to buy one of those exhausts (now), but sadly it does not and here is why. 1. It would be extremely expensive to import it to Sweden. 3. The car that I probably will take over is a FWD B5244S2 and if it would not fit. I had a V70 T5 with a full turboback Exhaust! I swapped that car out for a stock V70R but my old car had a freakking CRAZY sounding exhaust, Popped like crazy. I have a clip on my page check it out :)
Please....please!!!! Talk to somebody who is able to shift normally to learn to drive...Why the F... do you put the car into first gear while rolling pretty fast?! It forbidden to do that over 10km/h //// 6,2mph! DONT rest your hand on the shift knob! You kill your baulk ring!.........I hate this
Catback starts at $899, turbo back starts at $1299. For a comparison, the not-on-sale price of iPd’s TB system is $1589.95. On sale it is $1359.95. -Gregson
This drones too. It’s a wagon. All wagons with exhausts drone. But it’s not bad at all. By comparison my WRX with an axelback is just as loud. At highway speeds it won’t make you hate the drone at all.
I had mine shipped, but you can do either. Message Josh on his FB page. It's linked in the video description. He can give you all the pertinent info. -Gregson
holy schnikes that sounds amazing
And this guy owns a lambo.
ShiftingLanes That finally runs 😋 and @Tavarish, because of your 2500rpm problem... check your Crankshaft Sensor or the 2 Camshaft Sensors, kinda had the same problem
Volvo 5 cylinders are just amazing
RichieT5 yep
Basically this t5 engine is as close as we can get a plenty of alternative for the legendary audi quattro s1 group B glorious sound.....
Me personally would slap full straight exhaust on this volvo for that reason alone 😘
Love Volvos five cylinder engines. Great sound and even better now. The old R's are fun cars.
They are amazing. I love mine. This thing will die with me.
-Gregson
The worst mistake Volvo made was putting Quiet exhausts on their 5cyl engines.
andy530i and making them fwd😂
The Haldex AWD is reasonable enough... Killed my tranny long before the Haldex, because it's still in working order (and fun!)! Their biggest mistake was throwing the whiteblock out and going for only inline-4 2.0! And using AW55-51, can't handle the torque it seems.
andy530i yeh Volvo 5cyl Should come out in factory whit sport exhaust and straight piped
That sounds SO DAMN GOOD. Seriously, better than a lot of V8s
Better than every V8 ever lol
Thank you Gregson so much for the video! 👍
You got it man! Thanks for such an amazing exhaust!
-Gregson
Great video, this is why I love my T5. Volvos rock!
I have 3 " downpipe and 2.5" after cat. Stainless all the way. I love the sound 😍. V70 2.5T -99 with step 3 software.
Damnn, dat burble tho. Sounds awesome.
Right!? You dudes need to drive it and hear this thing in person.

I second that, I want to see this.
It might be this weekend but ill try to get a video up
th-cam.com/video/Ge6osTtvXBg/w-d-xo.html not the best vid but it seems louder in person than whats captured on the video lol
I need this for my XC70!
And I for my 2002's C70!
Where did you get those center caps? I have the same wheels and i have been looking for them forever
I really like it. Not ridiculously loud at idle but sounds great when you hit the gas.
Did something something to my V60. It’s wonderful.
How’s 6th gear on the highway sound in the cabin?
Feels good When Volvo is from my country Sweden.
T5 vettu
ludvig hagert and we appreciate it greatly, I have a s70 b5254t swap into it and manual (standard) and the best part I got it for 800$ USA dollars
yea ive been on the fence about an exhaust for my R. now i'm fucking sold, just messaged him on FB.
Do you have no-lift shift?

I just bought the team dadwagon shirt and I'm excited (I daily a 2004 V70R). Keep the Volvo videos coming! I'm loving them.
Done
-Gregson
with a turboback and downpipe wouldn't you have to get tuned?
Jesus! I love this sound!!:)) I have a Volvo v70 2.4T only 200hp,but I think to buy the v70r because it`s just a beautiful int and ext. Great car!
Amazing! This car is a grocery getters dream! Love it

that is banging i drive a 98 volvo 70 how you do keep the checking engine light off since this is not factory
Inspired me to get a custom exhaust on my V70 2.5T
kinda sticky on the throttle during your shifts.. your gonna burn up your clutch..
What are the dimensions of that muffler? Looks pretty large in that section.
it's a shame you can't do a before and after Dyno chassis test to see what the gain was. I've been wanting to do this to mine. For weight loss and better breathing.
You know if it is legal in germany? And does it fit at the Diesel´s too?
what cpi is the cat?
That sounds very nice indeed.
NiCe ... love the v70... big fan
Excellent video. Really gives me an idea of how much noise I want let into my car.
What kind of exhaust is this? What brand
What camera and microphone setup did you use on the interior clips where it appears the camera is mounted to the sunroof? The audio seems to pick up some foreign object striking the camera/microphone and that clicking/clank is significantly louder that the exhaust sound, e.g., 6:00 mark.
Yea that was just a loose screw in the mount. Forgot to tighten the second arm. User error, nothing to do with the car.
-Gregson
Sounds good. I have a V70 Heico with Heico dual exhaust. A Moose should.be very aware of crossing. Have you checked out your 90 angle gear? I hope it's ok.
Edwin Thomas how much is a heico kit?
erik litchy the kit and tune was around 6k total. Mine was done in Germany...imported to states.
Wowzers that sound's awesome
What’s the price range a setup like this would cost around?
What if you don’t have a FB? Is there any other way to get in contact with him? I really want this on my 04 S60R.
Nice car! Sounds great!
PS. the clutch is NOT a foot rest. What you are doing will lead to premature clutch wear
t545o He obviously doesn't know how to drive a stick, get your damn hand off the shifter when you're not shifting you'll wearing out the arm as well.
@@chelseamarlow9112 Agreed, that shifting sounded horrible.
Got the BSR upgrade on my t5, gets near 310 hp, but I don't need more, because fwd, ... it would become inefficient with more power.

Thanks.
I'm looking at the Elevate 3" cat back stainless exhaust for my 04 xc70 2.5T. This exhaust is very nice though!
Josh Briggs at 8Eight Fab does some cool stuff, and these exhausts he makes for these cars make these cars sound amazing!
Where i can buy this cool Sunglasses ?
Is this the same engine as in Ford Focus RS? V5 Turbo? It sounds almost exactly like my friends Ford Focus RS, which he sold, sadly. That thing was a beast.
enablequery yes it’s the same engine.
How much faster is this car compared to the auto one?
That face of happiness 🤘
Sounds like a baby Godzilla :)
Looks and sounds a lot like the iPD oval tube exhaust
Indeed, the R 5 cylinder sounds amazing when uncorked... one of the multiple prime reasons why I still own mine after buying new 11 years ago.
Hi! I wish you will read this ;)
I have V70 from 2004 year production but it's facelift model. On video I saw you have a FM transmiter (it's named in Europe like that), and HU-650 or HU-850 radio without select knob like in my V70. 2 weeks ago I bought Yatour BTA for test, because everywhere when I read that was "HU650 and HU850 without selection knob it's not compatible" and after 2 weeks with this stuff I can fully recommend you to buy this device BUT I prefer now to buy this with remote control. Why? Because steering from the wheel it's not supported via Bluetooth. Excluding this everything works fine and sound quality albo microphone is really good!
If you have some question, just ask :) Best regards from Poland, Matt.
Thanks this quality review!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Would love to see this setup on a Volvo S80 V8!
EARGASM ❤️❤️❤️ god i miss my V70R 😢
BetA666 What happened to it?
Jared K amen.
Ipd is a trusted vendor and full supporter of the platform and their catback is cheaper. Revolve has a SS catless 3" downpipe for 400. So ipd/revolve 1100$. Not going to pay some facebook business 1300+$ for a complete exhaust when plenty of proven companies offer a complete exhaust. Not to bash the fabricator, the work looks nice. But im not paying someone on facebook more for something i can get from a reputable vendor for less/same price. If the complete exhaust was around 900$ I would consider.
Don't forget about the shipping costs. Once you throw in the FedEx Freight costs it can be about as expensive as getting one locally fabbed, at least in my case. IPD does free shipping though.
I gotta say, the welds on the tip section of your stuff look a bit better than my IPD kit, 8Eight.
A unique fact about the 2.5 turbo 5 cylinder is. That it produces max torque from 1500 to 4500 rpm.
Nice sound! And manual gearbox!
Thanks! And yup! 🙂 love this thing. Check out the playlist for the car on our channel.
-Gregson
Yeap! I will! :D

@@ShiftingLanes the odd cylinder number gives it a funny sound I love the 3 and 5 cylinder sound even a little 3 pot can sound good
Don't know what to get ralliart or a v70r
Sounds Wonderful.....Looks good! Any parts guys you can recommend for a throttle body - S60 AWD 2002 ( I know they are the same all up and down the line)
Thanks Tim! I would look at FCP Euro, Viva Performance, or Re-Volv. They are the authorities on Volvo parts and would be able to recommend parts much better than I would.
-Gregson
I have one if you want used.
I have several wrecked 2004-7 S60Rs and a couple V70Rs.
Richard Noggin - how are the throttle bodies , if your willing to sell one or two?
Tim Moore I'll have to check and see if I have any engines that are bad that I can remove one from or you can try car-part.com
Very nicely Fabbed and a great sound👍
The welds are incredible. Josh does top notch work.
-Gregson
5 cylinder is awesome! Volvo have some good ones, but it will never peak the same sound as Audi, most fav! Nice vid and car =)
Acuras inline 5 sounds better IMO. It's a bit more high strung. The turbos Volvo and Audi use make them sound too muffled and a bit less aggressive.
That sounds fantastic
Soooo 4C or Coilovers? I know you have experience with worn 4c, new 4c and now coilovers.
When you have an engine as special as a Volvo turbo i5 it should definitely be as loud as possible. Within reason, of course. :P
It sounds good even stock.
Hi are u going to put the volvo on the dyno
Yea we will! Soon.
-Gregson
How about catalytic converter ?
I want to do this to my xc70 drifter
2:12 is what you came for
its like trying to unbolt an 18mm with a 19mm, your gonna fuck shit up
Sounds great!
5 cylinder Volvo turbos, once you get a taste you can't get enough lol.
Those straight 5's sound like baby V10's.
It also sounds like the 1990s Viper V10 with the side exhaust.
✌70's Forever 🔊Lol👍 🔧
Sadly i got an automatic, not sure it will make any difference.
This is probably the best car to pick up women who want a committed relationship.
Ummm... that B5254T4 screams!!!
Right!? Dude it sounds so good!!! Get one from Josh. Check the description for his link. It’s unbelievable. Video is ok on sound, but in person it is soooo much better.

ShiftingLanes the inline 5 sounds ridiculously good and I can't think of a life with out one.
I wish that it would make sense for me to buy one of those exhausts (now), but sadly it does not and here is why.
1. I'm not 18 yet so I'm not old enough to have a drivers license here in Sweden, I'm legally aloud to practice driving or as it's called here in Sweden Övningsköra.
2. It would be extremely expensive to import it to Sweden.
3. The car that I probably will take over is a FWD B5244S2 and if it would not fit. And incase you are wondering yes it is manual, of course.
4. Taxes would kill me. For example Petrol costs almost double what it cost in the US thanks to the Taxes.
5. I'm still in shool for the moment being so I don't have a steady income yet, I don't know if I may want to continue reading after this face of education or not.

OK, fine, I'll finish my 3" snabb downpipe and 3 1/8" IPD catback install on my 07 XC70 and get the Hilton flash done tonight IF YOU INSIST. (@1:56)
I want this on my S60 T5
I wish I could find this car for the price you found it
My grandpa got a v70r for 1k and fixed it up for grandma. Now its mine. It took 2k in parts so overall not bad
The only video on my profile is my muffler and resonator deleted 05 S60R cold start with great quality audio... Just saying

Catback starts at $899, turbo back starts at $1299. For a comparison, the not-on-sale price of iPd’s TB system is $1589.95. On sale it is $1359.95.

This sounds way better than the IDP one. The IPD has a drone to it.
This drones too. It’s a wagon. All wagons with exhausts drone. But it’s not bad at all. By comparison my WRX with an axelback is just as loud. At highway speeds it won’t make you hate the drone at all.
Shipping available? or would it have to be picked up in person?
I had mine shipped, but you can do either. Message Josh on his FB page. It's linked in the video description. He can give you all the pertinent info.

OK, how much was it then?😜
Sounds good but I guess it cost nearly as much as my car.
$899 for a catback, Turbobacks from Josh start at $1299.
I want it
I feel like it doesn’t matter what exhaust you install in these R’s they all sound the same
This is my S60 t5 with the simons exhaust, i have since changed to "Borla"
Fantasic sound btw!
