Just bought a 2001 Volvo V70 t5 was 128k original miles. It runs so strong and it's so quick and the handling is incredible. Best $4,000 I've ever spent on a car in my 30 years on the road.
I've had a 2004 V70 for almost a year now and I absolutely LOVE it. I've always been a fan of Volvo and when I found mine for $2000 I jumped on it instantly.
Hi Ryan...You did well there! I recently plunged in & bought a Xc90 V8..[2009]. What a move! In my youth, I had a Volvo P1800 (1963) which I bought for 250 quid (pounds UK) (It WAS a long time ago.) It had some rust issues due to the salt on UK roads, around the rear wheel arches...But I sincerely wish I had had the means to put that car in storage......because the rest of it was excellent...be worth a small fortune now, to be sure. What is crazy is that it did not make me a dedicated Volvo man.... Since then I have driven all sorts of crap....... and only now, since buying this Xc90 have I realised what I have missed in all those intervening years: Sheer Pleasure! I love this V8.... I love the quality build....But I almost went for a V70, I must admit, good luck with yours. Stay Safe.
Greets from Greece! ...me& my '96 850R Kombi gives you huge🤜🤛 (ps.I have my black R since 1996! I'm the first and last owner! ...I keep them till end of my life! 🍀
We will never not have a Volvo on the channel. I was just speaking to branching out to other brands. Volvo is a part of the fabric of SL from here until kingdom come 🙂
I've had only Volvo for 20 yrs now; 1st was the '87 740 sedan, now it's the '98 V70XC turbo, the best car I've ever owned; all have had "issues" but all have been fun to drive...sometimes frustrating & troublesome, but better built than most cars I can think of.
I owned a Volvo V70XC. Same colour as yours. I was sitting stopped at a roadworks stop sign and a pickup ran into the back at estimated 80kms per hour. The pickup was a write off, but the drunk driver survived. My Volvo was dented severley but i was unharmed , my rear light blubs weren't even broken so the cops let me drive off after . Unfortunately the electrics were never any good after and I sold it after a lot of expense with computer items. Volvos are really safe in an accident! I now have a Subaru Forester. A reliable car but nothing like the character of a Volvo. Temped to look for a V70R after watching this.Thank you.
I've just bought a low mileage V70, planning to drive it until it falls apart. So far it is great, even though it's almost as old as me! Already can't imagine ever not having one, I've grown attached to the brand.
The Volvo V70R is the baddest wagon out there if you have the manual shift!! Automatic is great too if this is your daily driver. Because Volvo was ahead of pace with new technology there's always going to be quirks but the P2 chassis are solid vehicles. Our 2004 Volvo XC70 w/factory HID option is in great shape with 256k on the odometer. I'm a professional auto tech, so I obviously do everything myself and follow all the factory recommendations on preventive maintenance/repairs. Great video.
I've owned several Volvos over the years and got great value and lots of miles out of them. My 2005 V70 R 6-spd manual is my fav of all time. It has such great acceleration both off the line and between 3rd and 4th and between 5th and 6th. Handles great too with the electronically tuned suspension. I spend about $2k a year in new parts and maintenance, which is way cheaper than a monthly payment on a new Volvo.
I am 18 and l decided to buy a Volvo v40 2000 for my first car. So far loving it. Only 95hp but its very economic. The only thing l had to fix was the suspension (wasn't broken, just had a lot of rust and was causing some vibrations while driving). For only 1000$ l am so proud of that car.
Purchased my first Volvo last weekend as a winter beater. Long overdue. Just as I suspected....that's a lot of car. Solid. Already have a second MINT 850 picked out for purchase come spring.
I love Volvo’s also, I own three 2006 XC90’s and one 2006 V070. All of them are turbos and extremely quick and very good condition and I got them all for around $4000 each. I also learned to work on mine and save a ton of money and enjoy doing the work.
Makes you feel special when you actually get it right! ......been using mine on pizza delivery as of late, man that's hard work but that issue and my MPG feels like paying for a nice hotel vs a Yaris hostel!
The big turn radius is due to frontwheeldrive. If you pick up a volvo with rearwheeldrive you can turn on a nickel. It is the axel in the front that coexist with the turnbar that limits the sway. Have a good day volvo lovers :)
Great vid! 👏 I really appreciate your honesty of ownership with mods. It sounds fantastic! It isn't exactly maintenance free, as you have mentioned, but the smile you get behind the wheel is priceless. The exclusivity is one of my main draws to Volvo S60Rs. Let's be real for a moment. Who doesn't have a BMW? I don't want to be like the guy down the road. This isn't North Korea! Plus the S60R is a sleeper! Blow by cops and just about wave! Lol. Mine is stock of course. Pretty much at "zero". K&N filter that's all. 👍
I own a S80 that I got for cheap(it was crashed) and its been a wonderful car, before this I had an 940 with 700tkm+ on it and it ran like a dream, started instantly no matter the tempature(be it +30 or -30°C), really shows the reliability of their engines.
I bought my 2004 v70 2 yrs ago for 2200 and I've changed all 5 spark plugs twice, the battery and struts that's bout it with route oil changes... 256326 miles and still going...
Great video Congrats for your well sounded volvo. Bought my 09 S80 3.2 FWD 185k miles, 18 months ago in California, changed engine oil and filter, transmission fluid , fuel filter , spark plugs and one week later, I was driving it to Massachusetts. No problems going through last year’s northeast winter . Guess I am keeping it for a while 👍
Actually an old 142 lover here. Way ahead of their time, elec fuel injection, 4 wheel disc and superior crash protection. Give me a 1971/72 142E over most any other car and would be happy.
Volvo is the flagship of safety. Hence the seatbelt. I also own an 05 v70 r. My second Volvo wagon. And my next car will be another r. Might go with the s60 r next time. Hope to find the atacoma leather package.
have three. 2006XC90 daily driver. 2008V70 for cruising on long trips. C70 for when I have to park in tight spaces and it is cool enough to have the top down. None of the cars look dated. Paint is excellent, still shiny and no peeling. Don't flush the transmission just drain and fill . Change all "lifetime" fluids at 100,000 miles.
“...engine cylinder walls can crack which is a common fault....but if you can live with that which isn’t a big a deal, they’re pretty solid cars!” I think self destructing engine is quite a major problem as general car issues go! 🤣
We have been a Volvo family for awhile. We had a beautiful 2006 v70 and traded it in on a 2015 v60 with all R upgrades and seats and the did the polestar upgrade. It was one of the first v60s and it has every option of the time including the cross country chrome and its low and has the awesome wheels. I love it The seats are amazing. I bought a Tesla model S and I love driving the wagon. I think we will be keeping both for a very long time. Oh and we have that color leather. Omg it still smells like a new car. Yes I love my Tesla p85 but the Volvo wagon is more fun to drive
Good video ! I'm from North Jersey also. Iv'e owned a 2001 Volvo v70 24t for 4 years now ! I love the car. Lots of power, comfortable, great sound system. Very solid, well built car. It does suck in the snow though ,lol ! We will see how it is this winter. I just put on new tires.. I did the struts and shocks, radiator, pads and rotors, 2 coil packs, transmission fluid drain and refill. It will need new emergency brake shoes and i found a torn axle boot when doing the tires.(springtime job) Did the work myself. See if i can squeeze another year out of the car.. Has 145,000 miles on it now !
I've owned a 01 V70XC for 6 years. Very comfortable easy to drive car but you are either a Volvo person or become one when you own one. You have to get to know the car and do some of the work yourself. Just taking this car into a shop and saying "fix it" will get you laid away. Some other tips: 1) Change oil often with synthetic oil...dirty oil will clog the pcv system, a huge chore to replace. 2) Use only Volvo spark plugs that are like $10 each. These cars just don't run as good with NGKs, AC Delcos, etc.
Thanks for promoting Stage 0. Nice that you like Volvos. Nice that you like the community (if they agree with you). Not sure that 2 years qualifies as an expert, but learning is a good thing. You were a bit unlucky get in on the most finicky model -the R, After 240, 960, 855, V70R, very much yes to self labor, (get a Volvo, become a mechanic) especially for a car designed for execs to compete with Mercs and Lexus (luxury performance), guided toward dealership service, and problematic for mods. '06 VR stock driver here, survivor with dents. Maybe one of 60 in year and color in the US. Not so sure about pricing forecasts. Hope so. The community IS great -has been for decades.
I tried six times to understand what this guy was saying at 11:00 on, regarding where to buy aftermarket parts. CAN YOU KINDLY FURNISH US WITH THE COMPANY NAME? THANKSS!!!
With the stage zero, I think it’s important to refresh the suspension on these. They’re heavy cars, and the difference between a car with worn out suspension versus a well sorted car, it’s night and day.
Paid $2200 ... 2004 turbo v70. 175k miles 5 yrs ago. .you have to turn your own wrenches and get the factory software on a laptop . great car. Parts are cheap. Blew the turbo. Got a new turbo cartridge $185 eBay. Fitted it myself. I'm a baker not mechanic. 250k miles on it now. I live in northern maine. It always starts.
You’re wife was very lucky to have had you buy her such an awesome vehicle. My partner complains about contributing $500 towards helping us purchase one and then I’ve taken on the $165/mo payments for having bought a used one...
Yep, probably the best getaway car in the world. Loads of torque, huge pay load for the swag, and 7 seats for the gang, and side impact protection in case Willy the Wheels needs to nudge someone out of the way.
The Auto version of the car is Torque Limited, 350 Nm, compared with the Manual gearbox at 400Nm. Peak HP on the auto is at 6000 rpm, and on the manual it's at 5500 rpm.
Just finished a rebuild on a 2002 XC70. Newer engine and transmission, CV axles. AWD system in great shape and ZERO rust on the car. Been offered huge dollars for it, but not interested. #volvoforlife.
I live in Wisconsin I picked up my 98volvo s70 for 100 dollars and I absolutely love it 320,000 miles still makes 10psi and shifts life a dream great suspension yes the dash makes some noise but that's it.. The whole car works perfectly better than any vehicle I've ever owned by far
Found one on Facebook for $4,500, but the description says "*SALVAGE TITLE* Front right collision deemed it a total loss but has been fully repaired. The Bad: -The front bumper, hood, and right fender are off of a 2004 model due to the accident -The headlights were also replaced with non-xenon headlights (less of a headache in my opinion) -The 2/3 shift gets a little clunky if the transmission gets super hot. It doesn't happen often enough to bother me. "
The P2 was done just as Ford took over so its a pure Volvo. I too love the company and ethics of the Volvo. Yes they cost to maintain but then most cars do. I love to be different to everyone else so Volvo tops the list for me. I love them all - older models are my fave. The P2 feel so much more solid than the V50 I had before. The comfort is amazing. I need to front spacers on my 2006 V70 as I fitted a set of beautiful refurbished Nebulas on it so they rub badly on full lock 😂👍🏼 I would much rather drive one of these than anything new, over computerised and badly made. New cars are going to be absolute money pits in a few years where older Volvos like this will still be plugging away 👌🏼😎 The Volvo community is unmatched for friendliness and comraderie. Gotta love a 5 cylinder howl 😍
i own a 2002 v70 ocean race 2.4t with 200hp as my daily and a Ford focus rs Mk2 as a weekend car, you guys in america didnt get that generation but let me tell you its the most fun volvo 5pot experience you could possibly have, ford solved the cracking cylinder wall problems and as this moment its running 350hp just by a stage1, im going to upgrade the intercooler and pump tho and get a mountune 375. The v70 is an awesome car and its the most sold car here in sweden but the focus rs mk2 is seriously a beast
My neighbour had the S80. He bought it new. After 3 years, many electronics started to show their ugly sides and he was left with almost non stop issues for the next 6 months... driving to the VOLVO specialist numerous times. So yes, the 'fine tuning' term you used is accurate...and modern Volvo cars are well known culprits. I have a friend who has a 940 Turbo. Though it is so much older than the S80, it didnt give him the stress and frustrations that happened to the s80 owner. I think the 940 is the last Volvo model that is a reliable workhorse.
Nah V70 from 2000-2007 are probaly the greatest cars Volvo ever made period (Manual no turbo 2.4L 170HP), the Diesel, turbo and Automatic versions have some problems that can get expensive especially the V70R is probaly the most expensive to maintain alongside the 2.5T versions, I own a 2007 2.4L Petrol 170HP with 300 000 KM or 186400 Miles on nothing but oil, spark plug and one camstrap change
I would add a disclaimer about the reliability comments. If you leave it stock, it's gonna treat you great. If you want to tune it and upgrade... you may have some random gremlins. Fortunately, most of the Volvo community has documented those problems and have shown quick and cheap fixes for most. But yeah, as far as "tuning" or upgrading your volvo, it's highly possible you will have some hiccups. But stick to the scheduled maintenance and you'll be golden if you're staying stock.
One caveat to that, not necessarily. Stock, OEM tunes have been known to crack blocks. There are reports out there of that happening on SwedeSpeed. Overall, yes, but that's pretty unheard of from an OEM perspective.
Nice dude! I have a 854r too, some dickhead down the street from me, ran into me when i was cruising to work. My cars a total fo sho. U need any parts? Set of 4 canisto wheels with new/ really good rubber, v70r suede seats, lightly tinted taillights, the body was perfect, so have all panels besides hood/ rt fender. Let me know dude, i would love if my car can be an organ donor to help keep another 850r on the road
If you haven't rebooted your CVs yet, I recently learned that most grease has a use-by date of 10 years with another 10 years of usability in a sealed environment, which means that if your CV grease came out of the factory spigot at whoever GKN's supplier is and right into your CV boot you still only have five years left until they dry out. Also, those clamped ring clips are best attacked with a reinforced cutting wheel and a Dremel on the flange that keeps the clamp together. Wear your least favorite shirt. I'd set aside at least eight hours if you do wind up committing to the job, and use Molykote G-4700 instead of those GKN grease packs because the grease packs don't have dates on them and they're getting churned through the inventory system without getting pulled by a specific date in my experience. This goes for all booted CVs, but I fear that we're getting into another "lifetime transmission fluid, trust us! Love, Volvo" situation with CV grease given how frequently weird shakes at weird speeds people are reporting on forums after they've swapped out almost all the rotating mass between the transmission and the ground.
....yup, was thinking about it, and heard a click right enough... Why are these things still alive, when it's so apparent that they have been neglected, and obviously have more than enough power to hurt themselves????!!!!! You sure don't get away with this sort of postponement with a Volkswagen, if I can speak generally..
Looking for a Volvo for my 76yr young father with a walker and he drives daily. Grand daughters time to time here in MinneSnowta. What would u recommend for a used??
I bought a Volvo 2002 V70 XC (if I'm not mistaken) and damn don't they smooth great, that's why I've fallen in love with them, luckily it was also all wheel drive.
Like any 'enthusiast' car, these have their issues. It's expected. Keep up with maintenance and they'll treat you right. They aren't Honda/Nissan/Toyota cheap, but they aren't Mercedes/BMW/Audi expensive. They're a good middle ground, and you don't have to be rich or make a lot of money to own a stock R and keep it on the road. Modding is expensive, but trust me when I say that your Honda/LS/2J isn't as cheap to modify as people make them out to be either.
You make a lot of good points, but you could get a lot more performance out of a 2J platform for less than what Greg spent. IE if I spent Greg $$$ on my old IS300 we're looking at 600 ish hp monster. Granted, It wouldn't have the cool factor the VR does, but there's a reason the 2J and LS are so popular.
Chad Kennedy I understand you guys are speaking solely on the R and it’s 4t4 engine but for one if you do all the work yourself like I do on my cars you can make a lot more power than he makes and spend less. His $30k-$35k also was his cost to buy, maintain, and build the car.dougy spent like half of what Greg spent on his engine build and dynod at 700whp...granted he used a 2.3l block but it’s really only the 4t4 R blocks that crack when pushing bigger power and you can get more power and performance out of the lower trim Volvo’s without spending nearly as much money as what Greg has spent on his R. the R has more electrical components and parts in general since it’s the top trim package as compared to the lower trims. The more technology and components you have the more things you have to worry about and in general the more maintenance you will have to do which is why the Rs fwd counterparts that come with thicker cylinder walls, normal struts, and no awd can be maintained and modified cheaper. Also comes down to who’s doing the work. And what setup you’re going for. Lots of people in the Volvo community in the states especially now a days go more conservative and stick with Volvo turbos which is why most of these cars make less power than they’re capable of.
@@chadsl175 Ya gotta account for initial cost though. You can't just throw boost on an IS300, the VVTi GE conrods are confetti, the head is completely different. You're better off doing a complete GTE swap and at that point you're already $3-4k in. Add a turbo, tune, suspension and brakes, any other maintenance stuff, manifolds, IC's, fueling etc. and that 2J build starts getting extremely expensive. LS's will eat boost as they sit, but not a lot, they require being opened up too if you're looking for any reliable serious HP. Not to mention putting boost through a 4L60E is just a bad idea. And T56's aren't that cheap.
@@THEGHOSTSLAVE See that's where you aren't exactly correct. The GE con rods are the same as the GTE. GE's can reach 600 HP with ease before you need to tear open the bottom end. The choke point on the GE's is the head design, which is why many swap out for the GTE head (see Tavarish's Supra). Those can be had on a budget and that eliminates the need for an expensive manifold etc. The biggest challenge with an IS300 or NA MKIV Supra making over 350 horsepower is the W55 & W58 gearboxes. They can not hold much power, that sad CD009's are fairly cheap and reliable and they make swap kits for it. Yes, you have to get a piggyback or standalone to tune it all, but they do make ecu's with patch harnesses for about 2k. (Which I still have sitting in my living room from the stillborn IS project). I'm not trying to shit on Volvos, far from it. Greg's car sounds amazing, My C30 is a go-kart (when shes boosting correctly) and the community is amazing (probably the best one I've ever been a part of). Point is 2J's LS's etc are inexpensive (comparatively speaking, because no project is ever "Cheap") to get big power out of. Why else are they the first 2 swap options for just about any rwd platform?
@@T5_T-Rell Oh I have no doubt if Greg saved money by working on his car he could have had an even awesomer machine. But Greg insists on procreating. Throws a figurative wrench in literal wrenching plans. Frankly I love his car, it drives great, sounds great, does everything you'd want in a wagon. If you can get mega power out of these bad boys more power to you.
It is a pretty decent deal. I have a 1992 240 ($2600 to buy, $4000 to bring up to pristine) and a 2017 V60 Polestar for $41,500 in pristine shape. I feel you on Volvo. We also have a 2018 XC90 and a 2016 S60 Polestar. I have a problem.
My first Volvo was a 1984 245 Turbo wagon. I called it"the Box". Drove it for 20 years, put 289k on it. Changed timing belt once. Living here in CT, where winters really suck and the DOT loves to use salt on the roads, the rear floors and quarter panels started to rot out. By the way, ( Paul Newman went to Sweden to Volvo and ordered a 850 wagon with left hand drive with turbo and manual transmission. Paul Newman may be gone but, his Volvo still lives on from a owner in Portland, CT) This 245 turbo started my love affair with Volvo's. General maintenance and care Volvo's last For ever!, and has allowed me to own 4 more which includes my just bought auction favorite an '04 XC70 with 225k miles that was preowned twice and was maintained religiously by both owners. BTW, the original timing belt and water pump was changed at 190k!, and with the five Volvo's that I owned, not one had any leaks, electrical or mechanical gremlins. I'm Volvo for life!!!
agree with you about FCP Euro, but what you pay for at the Volvo dealership is lifetime warranty on the parts and the labor. so if you have an issue again just go back and the whole thing is free. I have a 2012 XC70 and love it.
In the two years I've owned my S60R these are all the things I've fixed, thankfully I do my own work or I'd be broke and living on the street! 25/9/17 @148000kms *Found Low boost pressure (5psi), *Replaced Turbo Control Valve (TCV), Ops check normal 15psi. *TCM reset. *Removed bonnet insulation. *R&R/Cleaned cabin pollen filter. *Found engine front crankshaft seal oil leak (suspect due lack of use). *Oil level topped up (1 liter 5W-30). *Headlight washer nozzles reconnected. 5/2/18 @150720kms *Dashboard DTC 'Anti-Skid service required' message. @M A Lol... No no no, It was crap but now everything's new or fixed. 😀 I've owned a lot of cars of all different makes and models but I have to say the Volvo takes the cake for maintenance! It doesn't help that I have OCD and have to fix every little thing to perfection, which probably comes from my aviation maintenance background....and a large blow to the head. 🤕😛 But in any case stay away from old Volvo's!
Did you make sure to make it a restomod? Damn the money you spent you should have a turbo the size of a basket ball, coil overs, forged internals. 600+ hp. Yours is just stock mate.
I like Volvo since my mother bought a 940 station 20 years ago. Right now she drive her 6th or 7th Volvo station and she has infected me since her first Volvo. Me and my girlfriend owns a Volvo V40 Cross Country. We love Volvo
I had a 2001 V70 II with the 2.5 Diesel. It was a manual and it was fucking great, it was my daily driver for about a year and I only had a broken power steering line, besides that no problems at all
I brought a 2005 XC70 back in 2017 with 201k. It's 2019 and I'm at 211k and she is looking and running just as good as any 2019 vehicle on the road, in fact better. Taking my boo, to get her tune up ($295) Sat. Montclair NJ in da house.
I was in the nyc area and northern nj for 20 years. Yeah great and scenic roads. BUT THE PROBLEM..... Its congested. You can never really drive those roads the way they should be driven. You try and do a touge run even at 3am near bear mountain and you run the risk of hitting a car, person or biker. So kind of a waste. Now that I'm in Texas hill country man i can bomb back roads all I want.
I heard the p2 and a few others were strictly built by volvo even under ford and that ford just used them for their saftey and tech... Recently got a 06 V70 with over 240k runs great and looks like it did in 06 was always maintained only thing is the wheel bearings on the way out. Love it so far!!! Keep up the content hope you get up rarris and lambos 🤙🏼
As someone who knows Volvos inside and out, can you give me any ideas why my 2007 XC70 25T shakes badly when I am accelerating at around 60mph? It happens under load (like on a slight incline on the interstate) but smooths out going down hill or on the flat. Any ideas?

Just bought a 2001 Volvo V70 t5 was 128k original miles. It runs so strong and it's so quick and the handling is incredible.
Best $4,000 I've ever spent on a car in my 30 years on the road.
I love Volvos for their looks.
That V70 R as well as the 850 T5-R are two special cars in my heart.
I also like the S60 from 2000 - 2004.
I have a s60 2002 she has some electric issues but it is so much fun to drive.
The day I sold my 5 speed V70 will forever sit on my shame shelf.
Had one for 20 years can't part with it :)
I feel your pain, same regret.
I'm flummoxed by ABS code on my 2003 V70 T5 5 speed and was thinking of selling it ... but I think I would regret it too.
@@ThisIsTheWarRoom you would regret, if all works OK remove bulb problem solved, 👍
My friend sold me his S60 5 speed. He regrets every time he see me driving it. So I feel you pain, brother.
I always get surprised when American likes Volvo, Love how you have an R, Its a dream
As an American and a Volvo fanboy, hard agree. My dream is an 850R
Some of us American’s enjoy our volvos. I love my 2016 V60 polestar.
love Volvo, I owned from 145 through 245,244 manual, another 245, 850, 960, V70, V70XC and now I have XC70D5 and XC60D5. Volvo for ever
I just bought volvo s80 2004 for my first car✌️ it was my father's before for 10years without single problem

We will never not have a Volvo on the channel. I was just speaking to branching out to other brands. Volvo is a part of the fabric of SL from here until kingdom come 🙂
That's me he's speaking of, I'm watching this after 4 yrs ughh wish i can warn him about what's to come....
What’s to come ?
Drove a 1996, 850 for 20 yrs. Best car I've ever owed.
A cracked cylinder wall is no big deal?
My Volvo cracked the cylinder walls twice, amazing.
I own this car now for almost 7 years. Love every drive in it.
New Volvo owner. (2016 xc70) So far its been really nice. New sub
Welcome and congrats on your purchase!
I've just bought a low mileage V70, planning to drive it until it falls apart. So far it is great, even though it's almost as old as me! Already can't imagine ever not having one, I've grown attached to the brand.
I am proud of my Volvo wagon too, 2017 V60 here 👍
The Volvo V70R is the baddest wagon out there if you have the manual shift!!
For only 1000$ l am so proud of that car.
i just got a v40 2003 for £500, only had to unlock the radio with a code from volvo and replace the ac fan resistor, easy wins
Beautiful my dude, regards from Stockholm/Volvo-country.
I have a 2004 V70. No problems. I'll add suspension, Wheels and tires. Tint and new paint. Love this car. Looking for another.
I have Volvo S80 2.4 2004 automatic with 342 000kms and still running perfectly
Purchased my first Volvo last weekend as a winter beater. Long overdue. Just as I suspected....that's a lot of car. Solid. Already have a second MINT 850 picked out for purchase come spring.
I love Volvo’s also, I own three 2006 XC90’s and one 2006 V070. All of them are turbos and extremely quick and very good condition and I got them all for around $4000 each. I also learned to work on mine and save a ton of money and enjoy doing the work.
you forgot to mention they have the turning radius of school bus.
I think a school bus has a better one. Maybe the same as a small yacht.
Have a good day volvo lovers :)
shhhh everyone the neckbeard is talking.
Derr, it's a station wagon, genius.. In other news, water is wet!
Great vid! 👏
I really appreciate your honesty of ownership with mods.
Nice presentaition, glad there are Americans that are humble on you tube. 👍
Make the most of it....pretty rare!
The best two cars I’ve ever owed are both Volvo wagons ; a Volvo 66 wagon and my present wheels a Volvo V50 wagon. I’m loving your shows. Pete 🇬🇧
I agree with you when you say it's one of the most beautiful wagons ever made. I've owned two V70 estates and still love to drive it every day.
You don't need to say estate when talking V70s. It's redundant.
Volvo's are just amazing ❤️ Beautiful, safe and reliable ❤️
I bought my 2004 v70 2 yrs ago for 2200 and I've changed all 5 spark plugs twice, the battery and struts that's bout it with route oil changes... 256326 miles and still going...
Great video
Congrats for your well sounded volvo.
Yes - definitely drain and fill only.
“...engine cylinder walls can crack which is a common fault....but if you can live with that which isn’t a big a deal, they’re pretty solid cars!”
I think self destructing engine is quite a major problem as general car issues go! 🤣
I love volvo too, greeting from Bali, Indonesia :)
Thanks for watching!
Owned my 98 V70R since April. LOVE it. Love all wagons. Especially my EcoBoost Flex.
Yeah EcoBoost Flex are sweet!
I bought one for my wife for $4000 and she drove it for 8 years, then we sold it for $3500. Other than tires, brakes, and oil--nothing.
You’re wife was very lucky to have had you buy her such an awesome vehicle. My partner complains about contributing $500 towards helping us purchase one and then I’ve taken on the $165/mo payments for having bought a used one...
Cool that our Swedish Pride are liked across the pond.
I just bought a 2002 V70 XC and I love it already. I always liked Volvos, but never had one. I have definnately caught the Volvo bug.
Yes 👍 Baby Driver should’ve used a Volvo t5 instead of a WRX.
great stuff, I've never been happier with a car than with my volvo.
I had a 244 turbo GLT. 5 spoke mags. Only 1000 of these imported. If you ever come across one, PICK IT UP! You will not be disappointed!
That engine sound 😍
Just finished a rebuild on a 2002 XC70. Newer engine and transmission, CV axles. AWD system in great shape and ZERO rust on the car. Been offered huge dollars for it, but not interested. #volvoforlife.
I live in Wisconsin I picked up my 98volvo s70 for 100 dollars and I absolutely love it 320,000 miles still makes 10psi and shifts life a dream great suspension yes the dash makes some noise but that's it.. The whole car works perfectly better than any vehicle I've ever owned by far
Found one on Facebook for $4,500, but the description says
"*SALVAGE TITLE*
Front right collision deemed it a total loss but has been fully repaired.
The Bad:
-The front bumper, hood, and right fender are off of a 2004 model due to the accident
-The headlights were also replaced with non-xenon headlights (less of a headache in my opinion)
-The 2/3 shift gets a little clunky if the transmission gets super hot. It doesn't happen often enough to bother me. "
THESE CARS IN THE UK.are between £500 to £2,500 for a perfect wagon they are brilliant and very fast .you will get a top spec for 3000 dollars .
Not anymore 😂 I got mine for 5 and a low mileage R seems to be 10-12k in the uk right now
@@williammay8143 did you get it GEOFF .
I need to front spacers on my 2006 V70 as I fitted a set of beautiful refurbished Nebulas on it so they rub badly on full lock 😂👍🏼
I would much rather drive one of these than anything new, over computerised and badly made. New cars are going to be absolute money pits in a few years where older Volvos like this will still be plugging away 👌🏼😎
The Volvo community is unmatched for friendliness and comraderie. Gotta love a 5 cylinder howl 😍
yeah, you never see "FoMoCo" on P2 parts like you see on P1 and P3's.
At 4:15 - 4-18 he says someting about one block being weaker i didnt get what hea meant by that. Someone explain,?
i own a 2002 v70 ocean race 2.4t with 200hp as my daily and a Ford focus rs Mk2 as a weekend car, you guys in america didnt get that generation but let me tell you its the most fun volvo 5pot experience you could possibly have, ford solved the cracking cylinder wall problems and as this moment its running 350hp just by a stage1, im going to upgrade the intercooler and pump tho and get a mountune 375. The v70 is an awesome car and its the most sold car here in sweden but the focus rs mk2 is seriously a beast
Own 2007 V70 2.5T with 205K miles, and 2012 S80 3.2 with 135K miles. Both lovely cars.
@@ShiftingLanes You're right, the cylinder walls crack. Bad design.
Currently own a 850r sedan really fun car!
@@rlikemoney lol thanks man but I have a complete car as it sits lucky for me
If you haven't rebooted your CVs yet, I recently learned that most grease has a use-by date of 10 years with another 10 years of usability in a sealed environment, which means that if your CV grease came out of the factory spigot at whoever GKN's supplier is and right into your CV boot you still only have five years left until they dry out.
You will always come back to volvo... They always come back.
Ha! I bought one of V70R from USA and transported to Europe! You have one more less of them :)
Shame on you 😫
Don't worry I just imported 30 of them to California USA
If you are serious, please send details of this to contact@shiftinglanes.com. I’d like to make a video about how illegal this is.
I have 3 and 2 are for sale.
@@ShiftingLanes how illigal what is?
Literally my dream car.
I bought a Volvo 2002 V70 XC (if I'm not mistaken) and damn don't they smooth great, that's why I've fallen in love with them, luckily it was also all wheel drive.
Hi, what u think of XC70 vs V70R!?
We have 2002 volvo s60 17 years old very nice and safe car
Also is that a rear seat DVD system on your roof? Who did the install since I havent seen that option
Whats happened to the 240 we need to see more of it i have been waiting for what seems like forever

@@mabskha7917 It's not! Video coming next week.
Paul Newman may be gone but, his Volvo still lives on from a owner in Portland, CT)
This 245 turbo started my love affair with Volvo's.

Lol... No no no, It was crap but now everything's new or fixed. 😀
I've owned a lot of cars of all different makes and models but I have to say the Volvo takes the cake for maintenance!
It doesn't help that I have OCD and have to fix every little thing to perfection, which probably comes from my aviation maintenance background....and a large blow to the head. 🤕😛
But in any case stay away from old Volvo's!
I have a 05 v70 2.5T i love it. The best first car i could have asked for. I want a v70 r manual but 🥲 finding that is not easy
I had a 2001 V70 II with the 2.5 Diesel.
It was a manual and it was fucking great, it was my daily driver for about a year and I only had a broken power steering line, besides that no problems at all
Jimmy McGill, go sell some burner cell phones Jimmy!🤣
Nice handle !!!
Talk about communities, the Saab community is unsurpassed! Been with them for over 30 years.
Not a toy but a machine. Enjoy it dude...😎
I agree totally when you say the V70R (especially your car) is the best looking wagon available. Pete 🇬🇧
I do remember seeing a video where they said that the R Models had a tendency to crack their blocks if driven too fast.
I'm a volvo love to .. I had a 98 volvo s70t5.. I loved it .
As someone who knows Volvos inside and out, can you give me any ideas why my 2007 XC70 25T shakes badly when I am accelerating at around 60mph? It happens under load (like on a slight incline on the interstate) but smooths out going down hill or on the flat. Any ideas?
Ou probably figured it out already but I would look at the CV axels
I used to own a 1995 850 wagon. Currently own a 04 XC70 and a 04 XC90 T6. I also have a 2004 Mercedes Benz E320 Wagon😎🤘
I was so interested right up to the point you were obviously holding your phone whilst driving.
As far as rare nobody talks about the c70 (The Spirit) Coupe 5 speed
We have a v70r and two 850R wagons in our driveway. We tend to be wagon folks as well as a Honda Civic Wagon
