Hello angels !! In this episode in the artist in Paris diaries I am showing you the highs and lows of being an Artist. A lot of making it in the Artworld is about paperwork preparation and when opportunity meets readiness. Here are a few days of struggles, rehearsals for a performance but also some realistic thoughts of mine and tips. about going after your dream to be an Artist. I also got to hear some thoughts about the music scene in Paris from some friends of mine who I am collaborating with so I hope you enjoy. Keep shining baby!!! Hiya...luving your new space & seeing you achieve so much. Freaks me OUT about the trades pple though like electricians ...omg that was A LOT!! I never know of course who knows who is in town i.e. Paris, but Elena Tabor is there now for a month so far I think. Got work visa and sublet her place in NYC. She has made a comment in recent video intro if anyone wishes to share their space to reach out. I rannnn over here to leave this note. I think it would be good for her to possibly capture an absolute true artist of all so many areas. I am kinda d-o-n-e with the NYC scene right now and just lots of fakery. The thing about creativity/art/authenticity is....that it happens spontaneously from living our lives. People who want to buy art are either artists themselves, or cannot conceive of creating anything themselves. This makes a good case for just doing what we do, unreservedly. THAT is the art. Not creating what others want to see/hear. Art springs from a full life. Anyone who ever told me they would make me a star was ultimately lying or feeding me a line to make themselves feel/look better. Be self-ish and do what you feel/want/know because that's where the good stuff is. Remain your own boss. You will never sacrifice integrity or the nature of your creativity if you remain sovereign. (I've been a creator/maker/musician for around 4 decades now, so this is from my own experience.)
You should always have your bio, statement, and CV ready. This allows you to focus on lengthy applications. I was once told that applications are intentionally long to "weed" out candidates. It can be challenging to silence the negative voice of our ego/shadow side. Being a constant talker is regular, but being creative and productive is what really matters. So, only a little talk talk and more creative stuff 30/70 (even if it is just music or French music in the background, but the focus is on creativity).
You're one of my biggest inspirations here on TH-cam. You're giving me so much energy every time I watch your videos...since so many years now 💜 I am going through the beginning of a whole new chapter as an artist right now. And people like you are simply gold 💖 especially right now with all those doubts, going into the new and unknown. Sending so much love to you 💜

I love how realistic and raw your videos are. Romantic, but not romanticized. We must remember we are complementary with ourselves we are datk and light. It is all about balance. Going through one pole to the other, it is natural, and that is ok. 🥰

Love the opening of this one. Very beautiful. Our shadow side is such an important part of us that needs to be explored and integrated within our subconscious mind. I feel it's where most artists dwell when creating. It's also the part of us that is vulnerable and full of self-loathing and doubt. I like to leave little "inner mom" notes to myself like, "Smile, your mom loves you," "You are so talented! Wow!" " You amaze me." "Keep going, kid." Etc. It helps me get out of the dark and helps me be productive when working with my shadow. Sometimes, Shadow just scribbles on the notes and throws them out. All part of the creative process.

I think all the editing formats you’ve used to share each have their own strengths. I appreciate the variety. I love hearing you talk about the shadow self and the bright happy self. I can seriously relate not just in my art journey but life in general. I too hate paperwork. I hope you get the grant!

Hi! could you make a detailed self care morning routine video- where you just walk us through your morning routine in depth and explain all the benifits of it for you and also explain how you get the motivation to do all those things- and also talk about what you do on the days that you feel like it’s really hard to start your day. How long did it take you to become so fluent in french? Did you learn in america before moving to France?
The talking slowly being more effective reminds me of one of my favorite bands Dry Cleaning. The lead singer is doing more of a spoken word piece, the pace of which is much slower than the instruments that accompany her voice.

Question: forgive my terrible art ignorance, but who is the artist of that large poster or print, that is behind you, it feels like a mixture of Magritte/Chagal…or, is it one of yours…you seem to have a similar color, and feel, to some of your works, like the dreaming horse? man those grant applications are the biggest head fuck ever! The only consolation is every artist is in the same boat experiencing the same shit, but if you persevere you will get some and once you have a few under your belt you have more chance of getting them and it does get easier. Cant imagine the added fuckery of doing it in another language, but your work is good and you really believe in what you're doing so you will succeed. What i do is approach them gently! just set 30 mins of the day for doing a bit so the head doesn't, get too melted . Good luck XX

Feel like there are “people” who do this paperwork for artists. Obviously not for free but the idea is that they have a high success rate which makes their fees worth it. Businessmen don’t complete their own paperwork for funding. Students who apply for highly sought after universities also use these services. Perhaps it would be worth it to hire someone who would regularly submit these applications for you.
Admin is the enemy of art! I am actually on a council that makes grant decisions, and in the past 3 yrs I have only applied for one grant because I can not do paperwork. PLEASE find a way to struggle through it! I stopped making art because I needed to work, - but I am in a state where there IS a lot of support for the arts and a lot of opportunity for the business minded artists.
I t took covid to get me back in the studio [when i have the space in my house all along] , but I still hate admin and I look at all the opportunities and ideas and right now just stuck not getting tha money part done.

@@thepurplepalace85 I am really trying to get an application for a "creatives" grant together by the end of the year, but of course just got a call for a show that I can make 4 big pieces for, so do I make art or try to get money? during the holidays, with other things already booked. Definitely staying uncomfortable! Overbooked is my middle name these days
