  • Growing up there was almost always a pot of beans on, especially when family or friends would show up.
This is how my mama would make them in the pressure cooker.

My 3yo seems to be convinced you’re his grandma and absolutely refuses to believe otherwise. 💜

I love putting on a pot of beans on the morning, on Saturday and let them cook all day, reminds me of grandmas house, your beans look really good, we are so alike, I put garlic and cumin in my beans, so good! And that ham hock was beautiful.

Hi Vickie, Those beans looked delicious!! That ham hock looked great. That, along with the bacon grease, must have given the beans an amazing flavor!! How nice to be taking those to a party!! Love, Mary ❤️😘❤️

My mother in law recently just gave me one of these pressure cooker pots. I'm so excited to experiment with it. This looks so good. Thank you!

I'm getting out the pinto beans out now! Don't have the ham hock but I do have the bacon grease. Sounds like a wonderful recipe, thanks.

I've been making pinto beans for 50 years in pressure cooker. Lately when I cook them the turn white instead of brown . Why ? I can't figure it out?

That looked very good! I usually use ham bone in my beans but I think I would like the pinto. Bacon fat is a good idea never thought about that will try it next time. Glad you had a nice trip in Texas!

What size pressure pot are you using? It looks bigger than mine. I'm using 3 cups in a smaller pressure cooker. I am not sure if those are too many cups to cook. Thank you. God bless you.

That bacon fat and ham-hawk may keep the beans from foaming but my arteries are foaming just thinking about it.

That fat story is. Not true…made by the seed oil companies..to sell crisco, Wesson oil (soy) and margarine. Just think of the procedure those products go through..fat on an animal is far healthier. Enjoy.

@@lesliejacobs3002 I believe that you are correct. Animal fat does not necessarily clog arteries. However, animal fat is saturated fat and should be avoided. Chicken skin is apparently the worst of the lot and so between the skin, the batter and the oil the chicken parts are cooked in, stay away from Colonel Sanders.

Always nice/nerve wracking doing family recipes. No pork for me so... Other broth & beef back ribs and rendered beef fat and occasionally no meat/fat just h2o. Cumin& garlic & paprika & smoke.
