I interviewed with them a year ago. The way it went was Bob wanted to totally retire, so he gave most of the ownership to employees, with amount of ownership determined by years of service. It is an amazing company. Their on-site restaurant makes awesome soups and sandwiches. Bob is there every morning for his oatmeal and fruit breakfast.

For bird owners: my instant pot duo is totally bird safe, no nonstick coatings. In fact the beans, grains, and veggies that I cook in the instant pot are part of my parrot’s daily meals.

Hi Alyssa!!!. Great video!. Being from Brazil I grew up with a pressure pot going on the stove pretty much every day. My mom made all kinds of things in it. Fun fact; that is the number one gift people get as a wedding present😄. My sister got 3 different ones as wedding gifts!. When I moved to the US 16 years ago, I bought a stove top pressure cooker and my friends were so scared of it!. I think it was because of the loud noise it made when I was cooking with it. The stove top one releases some steam while it cooks😅. I had no idea it wasn't a normal thing cooking with it here, I was so surprised how you couldn't find a pressure cooker just in any store. In Brazil they are sold everywhere, most supermarkets carry them as well. I LOVE making beans from scratch, I like to add 1 bay leaf per pound of beans, and when they are cooked I saute some garlic in water or olive oil in a small skillet and add that to the beans with some salt and pepper to taste😉😋.

      @angrybudgie96 ปีที่แล้ว

We commonly have those in Indian grocery stores as well! I find them to be annoying because the ring inside gets loose overtime and makes the pressure leak.

This is exactly what i was looking for! Thank you! I knew NOTHING about cooking beans! I got a three tiered instant pot insert and cook three different kinda of beans at once! I just set the time to cook for the bean that takes the longest to cook. They turn out great! I add a 1/4 tsp cumin to kidney beans, 1/4 tsp marjoram to canellini and 1/4 tsp curry powder to the black beans to season while cooking.

Thank you for this excellent video! I’m brand new to IP, and as someone who has been cooking beans for over fifty years the old fashioned way, soaking overnight, and cooking in a Dutch oven, I can’t wait to try this method. I’ve been buying my dried beans for years from a wonderful company named Rancho Gordo, and because of your enthusiasm for Bob’s Red Mill, I will try two or three of their beans and see how they compare to Rancho Gordo. I’m looking forward to reading your blog as well, and learning about the myriad possibilities of the IP. Thanks again!

works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside th-cam.com/users/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again. This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

I dehydrate cooked black beans, some with jalapenos for travel and always have some in the freezer, just in case. Soaking has much to do with removing the antinutrients in beans and pressure cooking does a good job of it, too. Thanks for a very helpful video.

Thank you! Great video. I would also love to learn about which beans and grains can cook at the same time in the instant pot? For instance, I love to cook rice and beans or quinoa and beans or some grain with beans at the same time but it’s hard to figure out which grains and beans can cook together in the instant pot for the same amount of time… without one being ruined or undercooked. Maybe future video please?🙏🏻🥰🥰🥰

    • @lizardas

That is very difficult. Quinoa cooks in 1 minute, with 10 NPR, 1:1 ratio of water to quinoa. But that means that it's done quickly, so you can do it ahead of time and add it to your recipe later. Rice cooks in 3 minutes, 7 NPR, 1:1 ratio. Beans take a lot longer.

Adding 1/2 to 1 tsp of baking soda to your soak water opens up the pores of the beans and makes soaking way more effective. Adding vinegar or salt does the opposite so don't add anything that would make the water acidic.

You can can the so that you can just open a jar when you need them and you can have a smaller portion open so it won’t spoil. I can with mine and 4 pints or a few more 1/2 pints then I have just what I need. Check the psi for the machine on pressure cook. I never need more than 10 psi and when you convert the numbers for my 6 Qt it is 11.6 so that is higher than 10 psi. Better to can than freeze for me

We have two instant pots and have cooked beans for tacos many times. Just add beans in water 1hr on high, release pressure and use a hand blender to grind up into bean taco mixture or soup. wonderful, however I tried using collapsible collinear and raw black beans, chick peas, lentils, and other beans. I only put in cup or better of water so it would not go dry. After 50 minutes black beans were like rocks, cooked another 50 minutes and they were still hard. I don't know what I did wrong. I wanted to make a buddha bowl with different items cooked at the same time. I wanted to keep thing separate for presentation. any ideas?

Asafoetida is also another anti flatulence, only use a pinch though (=1/16 tsp.)

I LOVE your videos & especially this one. Cooking BEANS instead of opening up a can has been scary to me. I don't know why. BUT I am taking the JUMP! I tried a few times to get the Free printable cooking chart... NO SUCCESS. Can you help me? I WANT IT... no, I NEED IT! :) Thanks for all you do to HELP us on this journey into MORE HEALTH.

i just got an instant pot
Im still confused. I see the chart, but i see soak time, cook time. My question is. are the soak time minutes or hours? the cook time i was under the impression it would take minutes, but it's really btn 25-30?
Also, for your black beans and kidney, do you saute? i saute with yellow onion, garlice and little oil, then dump the beans with water
All the cook beans from all the other channels are confusing cuz it doesn;t cover the small parts

When I make chili, I use different types of canned beans right now. If I use my instant pot, can I put different beans in there at once?
