I’m located in Maryland and drive an Sti hit me up on insta @sti.marvin
This method works best in lower gears because it requires more torque. The engine wants to deliver torque so it uses more fuel. And just when you hit that clutch, the excess fuel isn't completely burnt, flowing through your hot exhaust manifold, actually partly burning inside your turbo. The pop comes from the fuel and oxigen mixture rapidly burning (exploding) in your exhaust tube somewhere down the line because it didn't have the time before.
Cars spitting flames happens when there is a lot of flow and fuel inside the exhaust tract, not letting it explode before exiting. Getting rid of the cat and giving it a rich tune usually does the trick.
Backfiring mainly stresses your manifold, turbo and cat. Religiously check your engine fluids when doing this as your turbo will get hotter and burn more oil.
Never try to pop your exhaust with a cold engine. Flooring to 6k with a cold start is like taking anal virginity, resulting in damaged or broken gaskets, bearings, threads, valves, pistons, cranks, cams, you name it.

For anyone wondering. You do need an aftermarket cat back or turbo back exhaust pipe. If you manage to get pops with stock piping you will damage the catalytic converter and something is probably wrong with your AFR since it's most likely running rich enough to pop while fully stock.
I do it w/ headers & cut my stock pipe back a little bit. I pop around 2-4k in 2nd, 3rd & 4th.😵
I'm a little late to ask but I have an audi s7 and it has some pops when I rev it to 4k rpm I haven't touched anything and the previous owner didn't either.

I do the popping but In a different way that doesn't require burning my clutch. It's kinda like tricking the system. Basically just roll in 1st and when you hit 3k rpm (or any, doesnt matter) quickly let go of gas but at the same time pushing in your clutch all the way In then quickly start revving it like crazy and you can rev for who knows how long. Your basically tricking the system to spit fuel out.

Delayed gear shifting exactly as mentioned just tricks the system to send gas for gear 1 late shifting will cause a consistant gas flow to the engine when it should calibrate for gear 2 hence the pop sound comes when left over gas is shot through the exhaust, damage wise nah clean up eventually ya
Revving while you push the clutch in will probably overheat it if you do it for too long

Nice video bro! but there is a simple difference. some cars like subaru evo etc have default settings to the control unit that throw more gasoline in the exhaust. i have a tts with 320 horsepower and full skat and does not make half of these bangs here, the only way would fatten the map

how did you go? i have a 2014 Audi A5 3.0L Turbo Diesel, would it work on that?
I got an 04 forester xt, catless downpipe, 1 resonator, and 1 muffler, and mine shoots flames. I got an automatic too. While rolling, I put it down into 3rd, get it up to around 3300 rpms and let off, and then just feather on and off the gas. Doesn’t pop too loud, but you can get some flames🔥.

I get some nasty backfire pops when I just cruise at 3krpm in 3rd for a minute or so with about 20%+ throttle and about 1lb of boost or none. this allows unburned fuel to gradually build up in the exhaust system, then I floor it full boost 100% throttle and when I shift into 4th at about 5.5k rpm, POP loud asf. Its from the unburnt fuel that built up in the exhaust burning and then POP.

For my crz usually i pump on cluth and pedal at once then release depens on the rpm.. but for my crz i do change my exhaust with direct no muffler and no resonater.. only remain the cat

Basically any car with a supercharger or turbo. Go through a gear pop the clutch and let the rpm roll down. Had a R53 Mini Cooper S that shot little blue flames when I’d do that.

What I’m thinking is that the turbo also helps out with the pops. For example I have a 95 3000gt sl, and it’s close to stock because all it has is stock exhaust but straight piped(took off the cat and one muffler). It pops but not a lot🤷🏽♂️

Why can’t I do this in my 1992 eg civic? I installed a twin turbo supercharged v8 engine from eBay I’ve also stuck on the type r sticker which should add about an extra 10 horsepower. This drift car has a 0.21 second 1/4mile but it’s ok because I have eBay clip on brembos :)

And those pops u get when shifting or just pressing clutch down and revving while rolling is called Clutch rolling revs or just clutch rolling wat I call it ..revs and pressure is different in each being in hear or neutral so when u rolling in 1 lst 2nd or 3rd clutch rolling revs to show off but if really driving just rev shift in between shifts ull get some pops rev shifting is a skill base helps with foot work as well

It's your engine backfiring....not the best for your engine..but not all that bad tbh. From what I know from experience...it just messes with your fuel economy... pre-ignition which also me along with that you get cylinder knocking...but don't take my word for it...but "popping" its basically backfiring.

This is very incorrect information.A backfire basically shoots a fireball back into your engine, almost always causing it to blow up. This is what you call after fire. It's just unburnt fuel , hence why cars with catless j pipes shoots flames . Stock tunes and ots tunes are very rich to prevent grenading the motor. Ever notice how dirty the tips get on a VA WRX ? Unburnt fuel that's how .
@@paulmorin288 so I may have under-exaggerated...it can mess your gaskets up too. But yes unburnt fuel. But the probability of it being able to go back into the cylinder and then fire off on wrong timing? High or low? Legitimate question. Id think rather more than likely but Im not sure. Wouldn't it just fire off in the exhaust after the exhaust valve opens and releases more unburnt/burnt gas? And yes it does cause damage to the engine by. Messing up gaskets and therefore compression loss. And could it also lead to pre ignition and bad timing...and bad fuel economy?

I have an ets extreme on my sti and i realized that if you do a hard pull in first or second gear, get to 4500ish rpm, push the clutch, and keep gassing it for a split second, you get mad pops
this works as well on the wrx. i almost went ETS too, love that exhaust setup
