SSD companies are trying to collude together with price hikes. Everyone should just stop buying until prices come back down. Once sales continue to drop, the price will drop. Just be patient and hold off on buying any hdd, ssd, or nvme.

Do not buy anything from WD directly. Use a third party if you insist on having their products. The reason I say this is because they have delivered my product using UPS, who left it in an insecure location from where it was stolen (if it was actually my door, can't really tell from the picture), and now they refuse to help. They insisted I get a crime number which I have done and now they have just turned around, ordered me a 20% discount on my next purchase OR an extra years warranty on the item that has been stolen. Complete joke of a company, I will be taking it further and completely out of their hands.
ive used almost every single brand of ssd made for the ps5 and the best one i found was the WD BLACK sn850x,SN850p and the Predator GM7000 i bought the 4tb version for 189.99 on prime day. ive been using them in both of my playstation 5
@@jh2392u do need to install the games on that for sure. And maybe an uptafe or Formate your ssd. But actually it's not that hard to put it in your ps5
@@jh2392 It's pretty much plug and play. You install it and when you turn your ps5 on it will prompt you to format the drive, you just click yes, wait for it to format and then you're good to go.
Don't sleep on the Corsair MP600 Pro LPX. I have a 2tb in my PS5 . Speed ~7200mb/s upon initial format. The Samsung 990 pro 2tb I put in my nephews PS5, ~6500mb/s and the 1tb Samsung 980 pro I swapped out was ~6900mb/s.
@@Kaog If you formatted again and retested it might very well give you a different result. Real world difference between those speeds wouldn't be noticeable. The PS5 doesn't come close to pushing these drives to the max.

If you play a lot of games I highly recommend a 4TB Samsung SSD. Some games nowadays take up a lot memory like all COD games for example. Or a 2TB SSD is good too. Just my opinion i don't recommend a 1TB SSD unless if you don't play game that much then it's OK. Also whatever SSD you choose it's best with heatsink.
Ordered 990Pro today with intention to put it into enclosure and use as external storage for laptop. And just thought that it would be good to expand ps5 memory also and found this video. Well seems external storage question can wait.
I got the acer predator GM7000 4tb at 7,4000 mbps for $250. Amazing deal. It has cooling fpam but i tore it off and added a huge metal nvme heatsink for $10
All of these are obsolete now. Corsair, Crucial, Gigabyte etc have now released new gen 5 drives that read and write at 12,400/11,800 speeds. double the speed of a 990 Pro.

@Kaog speed varies and is affected by heat its not always constant... when it gets super got it slows down but i have installed it on my ps5 with a heat sink and have seen no issues even when playing mw2 for hours
I was thinking about this myself but I think maybe transfer to console drive and then put new ssd drive in. It'll probably be more time consuming than anything.

Don't bother with WD stuff. by my experience WD products only seem to last anywhere from 3 months up to 5 years or so. If you're lucky they even work at all out of the box. Don't trust any company that makes deals with both M$ and Sony to have them be their official SSD. Seagate and samsung have always been my brands to go to. I just had a seagate product finally die out on me and it lasted for over 20 years. crazy.
Well, I would have loved the WD Black but I would have wanted the 4TB. Seagate? With my data? I don’t think so. If you value you data forget that witch. I went with the Kingston FURY Renegade 4000g PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD with heat sink. (4TB). Not gonna lie. It’s pricy but moving 10 PS5 games took about 10 minutes. Playing games directly from this drive is crazy. Especially the VR games. Glad I waited a few years to get it.

I bought the fire cuda and my PS5 won't recognize it. I watched some videos and I spent 2 hours frustrated putting it in and taking it out SEVERAL times. I tried normal way and also inserting on an angle like people online said and NOTHING. I'm taking it back to Staples tomorrow. I don't know why it won't work in my PS5 and no one has been able to give me answer smh

so yeah I think the prices are bullcrap because when we had a PS4 well I still have a PS4 I have a six terabyte the only paid $800 at Walmart and it was for ABC but they programmed it where you could use it as well it was portable it didn't have to worry about if it made the speed faster or not because that crappy internet anyways so yeah yeah the speed is improved with the PS5 a little bit but not much still see a loading screen but it's only like for 5 seconds

Not sure about the PS5, but i use the 1TB WD SN850X with heatsink as my OS drive on my PC...cant complain
In my ps5's I use the 2TB WD sn850x and the 2TB Silicon Power SX70 both solid and at the time great prices.

Only on Paper they are that fast, but in most applications they are not.
They can't go any faster than the hardware they're feeding does.

Apparently these differences would not be noticeable during practical use only when measured by machines.

i have tested so many ssds and i found gen 4 fastest ssd whch is Crucial T500 is fastest it reaches 7600mb read write speed .

It is Best to Move Files to New SSD.. And you can change the Automatic save destination in the Settings to your new SSD.
