  • The PlayStation 5 is now out and after Sony posted their own look inside the system I was really interested in doing a teardown on a retail unit when they became available. Today we'll be taking apart the system and checking out how Sony put it together along with the liquid metal inside.

      Get a pc thats what i did unless you are a die hard Sony fan (lot of those running rampant out there)?
      Sony and Microsoft did no one and themselves any favors by putting out limited stock of systems. Do you know how many people i know that didnt want to wait in line and did not want to put up with the frustrattion of limited stock? I'm even one of them. I bought a pc and my pc still blows both the Series x and ps5 out the water on every level, I've never looked back at consoles since.

    For the people wondering how you clean the heat sink: There are two ports in the case that you just put a vacuum nozzle up to to clear the heat sink. So you remove the fan, clean what you can from there, and then use a vacuum nozzle at the two ports. Sony doesn't expect you to take the whole thing apart just to clean it out.

    I loved watching this. The only thing I would have done differently was when putting the heatsink/motherboard/metal backing plate back together for that really tight, and tough fit you was talking so much about that Sony wanted to achieve. I would have worked my way from the inside to the out putting the screws in. I noticed when you we're tightening them the ones one the right of the board at 16:54 was already tightened down, and you was working then from left top to left bottom.
    Just like with tightening/torqueing a head down on an engine block for a headgasket. Or an intake to a manifold on a car. Id almost bet them screws was torqued down from the middle or center of the board starting with the ones closest to the chip, and then out to the edge.
    It allows the gasket. Or in this case the heat transfer pads/paste to “squash out” so to speak so that there are no ridges formed.
    My practice is to start with a light setting. Say hand tight, and then keep repeating the process going with a screwdriver a little at a time until reaching torque setting.
    It takes a bit longer, but you don't have to go back and possibly repeat a procedure if a mistake like this was made. I Wasn't nit-picking just trying to help you out. And you might have probably done this, and we didn't see it due to a video edit. Just my .02 cents and I subbed.

      Well you can see with the way the fan is like at a central point that it's moving air through all those directions at once. Which gives it a ton of surface area for a single fan to displace the heat.

    • @arnehagenaars1896
      @arnehagenaars1896 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@TheJadeFist not really the answer am looking for, got to be more specific, as the fan is taking air in from the side,
      just like is it a centrifugal force? with a centrifugal direction?. only then is the question where that direction is going ?and whether that direction is obstructed., because all this determines if the cooling will be sufficient, or it might be sufficient, but it could be far more better if it was build differently. And Better cooling means better performance.
      and how does the air flow in the box? the box has a curvature inside. the most important thing is how the air flow goes through the heatsink, is there counter flow or co-current?
