  • Test fitting the new Motomaster Eliminator X-Trail A/T Tire from Canadian Tire. The Tacoma is still at stock ride height so I had to find the biggest tire size that will clear without a lift or level. No rubbing so far!

What look do you like better, the Limited 18's or the new 16's? Let me know!

Definitely the new 16's makes the truck look more aggressive,as far as suspension leave it stock I run same size tire 265/75/16 on stock suspension on my Tacoma. Where did you buy your wheels from they look good.

Smaller rim size=More sidewall. More tire is always better for both look, and function.

I purchased my 2012 Tacoma this past December and I'm finally putting Bilstein 5100 shocks on it. I'm keeping it stock though, def want more aggressive tires though. I love the tires you put on here. I really like the Toyo Open Country ones. They look aggressive like the ones you used. Very nice upgrade 👍

I’m keeping my 16” wheels so I can have taller sidewalls.
When my factory tires wear out I’ll replace them with Fallen Wildpeak AT3W’s, but eventually I’ll need to get studded snow tires to help with the ice we’ll have after we move to MT.
Where we live now in north central Washington state, we get 5-7 feet of snow every winter but not much ice. I always put 260# of sand bags over the rear axle for better winter traction.

Just subbed to your channel. Awesome looking setup you have. I have a 2010 Tacoma crewcab 4x4 and had installed a 2" Roughcountry front lift and AAL'S in back and also running 265/75/ /16 tires on OEM wheels. For me it's perfect, didn't want to go larger in tire size and truck looks great. Asyou also said, trying to save on gas also. Awesome video, thanks for sharing brother!

    265/75/16
    And 265/70/17 are 31.6
255/75/17 are 32s, but skinny enough the clear the UCAS. Very good deal

I've always been a fan of the 265/75/16 size. The tall sidewalls just look good to my eye. I ran 265/70/17 Duratracs on my 07 V8 T4R for 6 years/105,000kms until they started to dry rot while still having over half of their tread remaining. They were still working surprisingly well in the -35C Saskatchewan Winters. I ended up replacing them 6 weeks ago with another set of duratracs (although the motomaster X-Trail A/T's were on my short list....i really wanted to try something different). To my surprise, the new Duratracs seem harder via the tumbnail test, and they are louder and don't seem to work as well in the snow. They must have changed the compound. Booo-urns. I'm looking forward to hearing about how the X-Trail A/T's work for you!
Oh, I also have an SW20...a LHD 93T!

    • @CanadianGearhead
      @CanadianGearhead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

That's really interesting - I always thought the Duratracs I had on my Jeep were better in the snow than the ones on my 4runner. I figured it was due to the narrower size, but maybe they did change the compound

Which one would you recommend if I have a 2007 2.7L truck? The factory tires are 245/75R16. I want to put a larger one on it but I don't want to damage the suspension in the short term?

Would this tire and wheel size work on a 4th gen v6 4Runner? The 285s seem to be too much for the v6.

    good video
I have a question I am about to install BBS Wheels 18 x 9 in my Toyota Tacoma 2005 with Michelin tires defenders ltx Do you think it will work well and my stock suspension.
    Thanks in advance
