    IMPORTANT: At the end I must have misread the resolution before I put it on. The Inspire is 0.2mm resolution, still sub mm and as you can see from the scans, more than enough to get very impressive results.

    Thank you for putting the review out there. I'm impressed RevoPoint is able to put a such a quality product out at a reasonable price. Given most of my commissions involve custom parts for infantry, I'll continue saving up for a RevoPoint Mini. Until then my poor calipers will be working overtime.

      Understandable for sure if that's what you work on. Ive heard that the Mini is even better when combined with the Revoscan 5 software so Im going to try that out, Im pretty excited!

  • @HenrikForsberg
    @HenrikForsberg ปีที่แล้ว +3

    RevoScan 5 is lightyears ahead of RevoScan 4, it can be used with the RevoPoint Mini too. It's so much better and actually a really good piece of software. Revopoint impressed me with that reworked software. Using RevoScan 4 was not a pleasant experience, and switching to RevoScan 5 with my RevoPoint Mini was mindblowing.

      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh that's fantastic it works with the Mini as well, I hadn't tried that yet as I didn't have time.
      And I totally agree, the software is easy to use and feels MUCH more effective. I'm pretty hyped to try it with my Mini 😁

      Yeah, for sure. Though I think we are a way off from that at a reasonable budget. But when it happens it will be "interesting".

      🤣 That's just some very heavy wear from me brutalising them I think 😅 I was really impressed. I'm really considering taking it out and trying to scan some real armour at a museum or something. Would totally beat having to model it!

      @NiteLynr ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArtisansofVaul You do know that the Imperium of Man doesn't /actually/ have a museum, right? LOL (On that note though, you might try infiltrating Warhammer World.)

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @NiteLynr 😅 I mean a lot of the armour detailing is fairly real world based. What some detail for ultramarines, scan some Greek architecture. Sisters of Silence (especially the leg and arm armour) almost anything European. I'm sure that's just the start....

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @NiteLynr Though how cool would it be if Warhammer World made an actual section of the display hall as if it was a museum as if it was on Terra in the 41st millennium. With artifacts but also all the historical inaccuracies because of lost/incorrectly translated reports/history books.

      @ArtisansofVaul I live a out an hour from Bovington tank museum. I'm sure if you asked them nicely they might let you scan some of their currently undisplayed stuff. I know wargaming that make world of tanks regularly visits and takes measurements of the vehicles.
      The TOG 2 might take a bit of scanning however...

    I have a RevoPoint Mini and when I need to scan very small objects it's great, but for large objects the process is very time-consuming because of its reduced capture field. Can I consider buying an Inspire, to save time on larger objects? Isn't this redundant? Considering the price, I think I'll give it a try! Thanks for your help.

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. I thought it may have been a waste compared to the mini but the ease of scanning that boot totally changed my mind. I think using something like this would be perfect for something like scanning a head, I'm still to try that though.

    Great review. I'm very interested in this. What's the geometry that it produces like? Could you work from it or would you remesh? I've never used one before so I may be asking foolish questions.

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not foolish at all. So it doesn't produce quad topology so you might want to use something like quad remesher if you want that. The detailing is pretty good but you always have the option of remeshing to sculpt more if you're looking to add to your scans.

    New to this tech. Why did you say you wouldn't recommend scanning for 3 D printing ? Isn't that what everyone is doing ?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว

      At this point you have a loss of detail between the original and then the print if you're looking to directly copy a miniature. But scanning something larger and then shrinking it down looks great. That's more what I was getting at.

      I haven't had a chance to try it yet but from what I have scanned with it I imagine so. Its on my list of things to try. Full body might take a while to complete compared to one of their scanners designed for larger areas but it should then result in more detail.

      @brianbirmingham1458 I think that's right. If you do anything where you want the colour of the object that's meant to be more accurate/detailed as well on the Pop3. From what I have read they seem to be for similar size objects, you'll just get more detail with the Pop3 but then you need to pay for it.

    I have a handheld sort of more serious 3d scanner, Einstar, but it needs a decent gpu and latter series (11 gen and newer) i5-i7 cpu, else I was getting really low fps, and I wasn't going to buy a new gaming laptop just for scanning, so I'm wondering how portable this Inspire really is?

Basically you have to have the scanner a certain distance away so while you could I'm not sure you'd want to because of the time. It would be like painting a room with a tiny brush.
