  • Need to add a border around your picture-in-picture effect? Here's how.
    This technique can be used to outline masks, cropped videos or even circular crops. We'll also look at how to add both straight or rounded corners to your border.
    Time stamps:
    00:00:00 Intro
    00:00:20 Add a mask
    00:01:36 Add a stroke or border to the mask

    Learning Adobe, in general, is like learning a second language. You can express yourself with precision, only its not intuitive. even the simplest concepts can become a convoluted, muti-step process. I'm so grateful for YT tutorials like these.

    This was very helpful, for a video I'm making of a concert (to put a fake 'cinema screen' behind the performers). However, there are some differences...In my Premiere Pro (very latest version as of July 2021) the stroke value is capped at '10', as is the spread value of 'choke'. As a result my borders are always very thin. Not sure what I'm missing?

    • @ThePremierePro
      @ThePremierePro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @ThePremierePro
      @ThePremierePro  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I remember they made the Dynamics effect obsolete, then got rid of it, then replaced it with a new and better effect a year or so later - but we had nothing to replace it with during that time. The Basic 3D effect was in the Obsolete bin for a long time, then one day it got moved back to the regular bins. It does make me nervous - you never know what Adobe has planned, you just hope it's something better not worse :)

    This is great, thanks. However is it true that if we want to animate the mask, say, have it grow from nothing to full size and shape, we are limited to only linear keypoints and cannot create easing in or out to the mask animation?

      It sounds like your computer might not be powerful enough to playback the effect in real time. You can confirm this by clicking the Wrench in the Program Monitor and choosing Show Dropped Frame Indicator. If this turns from green to yellow, it means your computer is dropping frames during playback.

    • @johnandlarry
      @johnandlarry 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ThePremierePro My computer has pretty new specs and I was using Proxies so that shouldn't have been a problem + if it was a dropping frames issue I would have thought it would have slowed or jittered the playback rather than speeding up the footage so it was out of sync with the audio?

  • @AngryKettle
    @AngryKettle ปีที่แล้ว

    If anyone out there is wondering if there's a way to do this with an existing opacity mask, don't fret! You can copy masks between effects! Ctrl+c on the mask in your opacity, click on the alpha adjust effect on your clip and ctrl+v to paste the mask in! You can do the same across separate clips, too.
