      The import and prep lacked some key important things for those who works with bigger project and more files.
      At 1:31 in "List view" you can right click "Frame rate" > "Metadata Display" > and search "creation date" and select it, then hit ok. Now if you go all the way to the right within project tab/box. You can now see it's display footage by exact time they were recorded (hour, minut and second). This is important if you work with multiple cameras, for example I who like to use drone and smartphone (sometimes two smartphones with my sister who also record at same time with me). if you want the old footage first, you click at creation date to switch between oldest/newest. You can also drag "creation date" to the very front, so you dont have to scroll all the way to the right to see it.
      *Label color* inside the project tab/box you can use right click different clips, also mark multiple clips and give them an label color. this is to make it easier to understand what footage you have placed where within the timeline. B-roll clips can be green, Drone clip can be yellow, etc etc. When you have finished all the coloring of the different clips, you can ofc separate them into different folders. But when the footage is placed on the timeline, you can have a much easier overview of the timeline. Here is a fast example I did. Each color in my project representate different clothing the model used under a photo-shoot we had. imgur.com/akdveQ4
      For those who have shitty computer, you have to learn what proxy is. You can make 4K clip weight like 480p or something like that, allowing you to work much better. But when you render, it will basically switch back to 4K from low quality.

    3:09 You can also use the Q & W keys (default layout) to accomplish the same thing with fewer keystrokes. Q adds an edit at the playhead location and ripple deletes everything before that in the selected clip. W is the same but it ripple deletes everything after the playhead in the selected clip.
    I've found this to be a huge time saver when making selects. Also it's strangely satisfying to make the unusable material disappear that quickly and easily.

      It was filmed in 24fps but you uploaded at TH-cam 4K 60. Why didn't you film it in 30fps? Wouldn't that make the video smother?

    • @Mandsefar
      @Mandsefar 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@Build_the_Future The output at 19:03 says 23.976 fps, which is the correct way to do it. It was mostly recorded at 23.976 but also 30 and 60, which Parker interprets in Premiere (right after importing the clips) to 23.976 to use it as slowmotion. If you export it at 30 fps, it will look like footage from your pop's handycam or a news story.

    • @WSWarriorsStew
      @WSWarriorsStew 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Standard in films is 24fps. You record at that and try to get a slo mo shot, impossible. Semester also taught that a lot of old school directors will only take you using avid or premiere most the time. I’m no expert with this but know it’s standard in big pictures. Everyone finds there own way and tricks that make it comfortable and easier for you. Parker’s tricks tips are great, he makes it easy. He filmed this upload that would take along time to compile kudos for the work. Avid which was also taught isn’t an easy program to learn :)

    WoW!!! what a privileged. Extremely rare to find a video like this on TH-cam. As someone moving from Vegas to Premiere Pro, having someone break down workflow to this level is incredibly helpful and astonishingly time saving. Reality is, faster editing and better workflow allow for better results as you have so much more time to flow creatively. Thank you for the Video. I will be subscribing and looking into your courses. 10/10. Best on here I have found.

    Your explanation of matching frame rates at 1:45 is exactly what I asked Adobe customer support about! I was told there was no way to do this in Premiere and that I have to use a 3rd party company conversion program to render each clip and then import those back into the project. I always just ignore the different frame rates and let Premiere just do its thing which has worked for me so far. I'm looking forward to trying the technique you showed to make sure everything is correct. Thanks!

    One thing I noticed was an extra text layer on the motion graphics at 20:44. The "2 x 18 = 60 MIN" text looks to have been added twice, with the second just a touch offset. Do you usually have someone peer edit before you submit to a client? Or just let the client ask for revisions on any slips they catch?

    The fact that he brushed over proxies, and didn't really explain how they work or why people use them, really saddens me. If you're a video editor on a budget, then proxies are 100% for you because they allow you to edit large, even massive video footage on a pretty budget PC without any issues at all. Please use proxies.

    I never watched another TH-camr's work flow until now, and it's crazy how my process was extremely similar to yours. I always wondered how other people sift through! Usually what I would do is stay in the "Assembly" tab and mark "in" and "out" and drag the video clip onto the timeline.
    Anyways, after 2 years of videography, I think my latest video that I posted 2 days ago is almost to your level of work Parker!

    Dad. I just found your videos recently, I am an aspiring woodworker/guitar/amp builder. Do to Covid my company went remote and I was able to move back to my hometown. I live a couple blocks from my parents and dad has a 2,000 sq ft shop. I have been updating tools and outfitting the shop to start my projects. We have hundreds of rough cut boards that that has been air drying for 30 years from logs we cut down ourselves. Cedar, Oak, Ash, and Walnut. What would you recommend for a humidity tester for the wood? I have recently purchased a load of Curley Maple from a local cabinet maker. I am sure the wood that has been sitting for years is good to go and the wood I purchased is kiln dried. I love getting new tools and your videos have both helped and inspired my recent purchases. Since I am in the process of updating my shop I really enjoy your shop videos and would like to see you continue making these videos. I know this is an older video but just "catching up" and plan to watch more. I used to be a music guy while at work but have been able to gain more knowledge listening to your videos. Thank you, these really are the best woodworking videos on TH-cam.

    Another option to make playback better is to generate previews. I usually do that for selection, since Im bothered when I have less resolution.
    This option does consume a bit of drive space though

You are the man...any who. I just started putting the rough draft down on iMovie than transfered it over to adobe. ...but this is much better. Thabks
