Though I wasn't exposed to his work as an American his iconic role in Raiders of the Lost Ark as well as his role as the evil magician in Red Sonja always made him one of my favorite villains. I'm 45 and was just a child when those movies came out but all these years later I still remember his performances.
Lacey's performance in Raiders is on another level. I was born the year that came out. I grew up with it and it’s one of my top favorite films. I watched it repeatedly as a child and his performance has always been one of the most memorable parts of that film for me.
He and American actress, Lee Remick both born in 1935, then both died in 1991 at the exact same age of 55, months apart, I looked it up at the Internet Movie Database
@@MIKE-lg1hz Likewise! Harris was a beautiful creation. I originally featured some clips from Porridge (the “Storm in a Teacup” episode) but unfortunately Copyright issues prevented me from keeping them in. 🙏

With his Toht in RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, Ronald Lacey gave us one of the greatest villains in all cinema and will be always remembered.

That’s incredible.
He was also in what ever happened to the likely lads and porridge
I always liked him as 'Harris' in 'Porridge'.

Can't find him in Polanski's Macbeth... Macbeth's "Shag-haired villains" are two different actors.
