    Liam Neeson spoke honestly about a feeling he had that he knew was wrong. He was honest and candid.
    It's not our thoughts and feelings that make us good or bad people, but the choices we make.

      Right, he explained the context that created the generalization in his mind in a moment of hurt, anger and fear. It was honest and people should've used that to have a real constructive conversation. I say I'm all for "cancel culture" when it's deserved, well I think this was not one of those cases.

      @@everythingiseverything9920l think you guys maybe are missing the point on this whole Liam situation. In response to his friend CLAIMING she was r@ped by a BLK man, his response wasn't to find the alleged culprit, no. His response was to grab a weapon, go to an area with BLK ppl in it and hope one attacks him so he can have the right to KILL ONE OF THEM. That's not just racist, that's PSYCHOTIC. And I'm sure if he mentioned any other group of ppl OTHER than BLK ppl, you wouldn't be making excuses for him now. Imagine if he said he wanted to hunt down a random jew. You wouldn't even be here right now.

      @@KoolKeithProductions (sorry, this is long) Well I'm Black, I don't have more compassion for White people, Jews, or any other. You're missing my point as explicit as it was, and yet you're ready to discuss the matter as I think we, as a society, should have. It's not up to me or you to put a psychiatric diagnosis on Neeson, but we can all relate to desiring revenge. I wish the path to violence were more discussed in the media, and in a comprehensive manner, by professionals such as trained therapists. (That's one thing I think about) I heard recently that, in the US, some "Republicans" were outraged because of a certain program to teach kids to talk about their emotions, claiming it's not the role of teachers; I don't know the details, it sounds quite ridiculous to me to fight against such a program because I do see an interest in having these conversations about how different people cope with negative emotions and rely on various coping mechanisms, or give in to their worst impulses.

      Yeah, I sort of feel like he's really overtly highlighting that he was ignorant, misdirected, traumatized and confused, and I think he was being really clear that the experience of his friend made him want to be a bad person who did bad things. I don't ALWAYS feel that these kinds of comments in interviews are justified or useful, but in Neeson's case I think he highlighted something truthful. And I'm not even his biggest fan.

      His speech was actually one of the best anti-racism speeches. Showing that out of anger he blamed the wrong people. But he got aware he was wrong and corrected his behaviour. That's the best testimony to help people in that same situation understand their own wrong thinking and correcting it.
      The bad reactions he got are actually a huge setback telling those people that redemption is forbidden for them however sincere their change of mind is.

      @@christianbarnay2499 This is why cancel culture is dangerous in general. People lose jobs over shit they said six years ago, even when they haven't said anything remotely similar since. Censoring people who made mistakes is the opposite of how you change things. It's the people who made mistakes and changed their point of view who should be heard the most. They're the ones who can speak to those who are still misled. Silencing them in pursuit of creating an echo chamber doesn't really accomplish anything.

No 17-yo. has the luxury of being a child, even if still innocent, because in the two-to-three year period prior to that age we all made decisions (yea or nay) about our sexual personas. Good lord, in most countries sexuality is recognized at a much earlier stage than in the U.S. - which, incidentally, has the longest childhood in the world! Where else, for instance, are 20-somethings, even young 30-somethings, referred to as 'kids'? I mean if we can't allow people to grow and change then what are we as a society? This is in reference to Liam Neeson. We expect people to be perfect from birth until death if we are to like them, when we ourselves are not that way. It's easy to judge others instead of look at ourselves.

    I hope Liam Neeson knows that some of us who watch his movies have been in her shoes.. I'm glad he isn't angry at anyone who remotely reminds him of the guys who did it anymore, but his outrage about what was done to someone he cares about is heartening.
    This is also a good example of how prejudice can sneak into a person's worldview, even if they didn't use to be bigoted, and that it takes awareness to let go of that.
    I'm sorry it apparently hit his career so hard, but I admire him for the warmth of his heart and the ability to change his mind when he starts painting people with too wide a brush..

It was a Barbara Walters special, and all of her specials were well watched. They didn't hide it. Connery was teflon, because he was 100% straight forward, and honest about how he feels about Men and Woman in relationships, and the boundries he is very clear with when it comes to his partner. He didn't say he believes all women should agree with him, or that's the way things should be on a societal level. He was saying that's what HE believes and delivered it with honesty and conviction. If you watch that interview, Walters didn't dislike him at all. I think she was somewhat charmed by his blunt honesty, while treating her with the utmost respect. He was a total gentleman in that interview and went right at her tough questions without any hesitation. People just respect that quality in someone, and I think that's why he continued to be liked. Ironically to the whole situation and his place as a scientologist and all the pseudo science that goes along with it he is correct haha. Psychology is largely a field of pseudoscience as represented by the fact virtually any study in the field replicated can never give identical results. Furthermore medication to treat depression is largely pseudoscience. We've known for awhile the SSRI's are a joke and akin to bloodletting. So he was right there and is right about psychology. As hilariously ironic that is. Keep in mind neuroscience which is far newer than psychology is in it's infancy. We have no clue what the mind even is still. Even the field of biology itself you realize it's 2023 and we literally don't even know how biology itself knows "how to function". Consider those words specifically. DNA/RNA are like blueprints but it doesn't run biology. Think of DNA/RNA as software, we've never found the operating system yet. That is how stone age our grasp of biology still is. An easy real world example of this is we don't know how a zygote knows how to differentiate into an organism. It's like workers building a house, the blueprint is RNA/DNA, but how do the workers know how to do everything to execute those blueprints. We don't know how biology knows how to work. Let that sink in lol. It's as profound as it is absurd how infinitesimal our knowledge is despite how it's presented.

      @@Manuka_888 You may be right. I saw a psychiatrist once, when I was low and needed help, in darker days of mental hospitals. Before I went on to get a degree in psychology. The guy told me to basically fuck off. He was later was on a TV documentary where he stated that he did not care if a specific patient lived or died. Mistake on his part. He reinforced his reputation as a cunt. Few months later the apparent mind solver killed himself.
      Few of his colleagues attended his funeral.
      My best mate, who had serious mental problems found the same hospital oppressive and woefully unhelpful when he needed help. I mean, they REALLY let a hurting kid down.
      Psychiatry has a pretty poor reputation. (One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest etc) historically. Zapping women for their nymphomania, zapping gays for their gayness. Zapping males for not slapping their women.
      The fascism of it all really ought to raise a red flag with anyone who gives a shit.

      Of course, the "industry" has tried to clean up its act by inventing extra bullshit that might validate it. But that's a bit like putting a plaster on a severed arm. Too, too, too iittle and too fucking late.
      If you happened across my other comments on psychiatry you would see that I still see the discipline as potentially useful. Which is ironic considering how much of a FACTORY OF DESSTRUCTION it has been for most of its history.
      But I do recognise that it attracts some often brilliant minds who might otherwise contribute less if they did so in psychology or other areas.

    It's rather typical that Megan Fox got "blackballed" for calling out Bay's abusive behavior while Bay continued making millions by exploiting more young women. There is very good evidence that he effectively tortured her and committed a variety of acts that would be inappropriate at the very least and possibly considered se*ual As*ault. Have you heard of how Hitchcock treated Tippi Hedron when shooting "the Birds"? Because she didn't return his affections, he used the excuse of shooting scenes as an opportunity to have her injured and se* ually humiliate her. She quit acting after this one movie even though it her first "big break" because she was so traumatized and suffered from PTSD the rest of her life. Look into it - it was a literal horror show (for Tippi). And Bay did similar things to Fox, from all reports, but was too much of a cash cow for the industry for them to do anything about this 42 year old guy using his position to harass a a 21 year old young woman. And it was HER career that got destroyed?

    I have had 2 or 3 panic attacks every week since i was about 5 years old, I have seen many psychatrists about it and my "experienced" opinion is thus:
    Most people in the psychiatry field think their job is to let you tell them the problem and address that problem
    BUT most of us dont know what our problem actually is. (i was 30 when I discovered they were panic attacks) It is their job to investigate and figure out what that problem is and that is where most of them fail, they think of their profession as a surgeon who finds and fixes problems rather than a diagnostician who investigates...

    • @emptycradle1304
      @emptycradle1304 ปีที่แล้ว

      Turns out, My problem requires medication ( took about 30 different drugs over 3 years to find one that worked) so at least the drugs themselves can work...I know it works for some people but it didnt work for me and i think i know why, so i will summarize my findings...

    • @emptycradle1304
      @emptycradle1304 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      1. IF you are an introspective person (like me) and you have not found a way to cope, you will need medication to correct the problem.
      2. IF you are not, then a psychiatrist can help you find a way to cope...
      3.IF you try medication remember to be aware of the placebo effect and take precautions, tell yourself the medication will probably not work and be keenly aware of how you feel on it,(if it feels like its not working at all move on to something else instead of increasing dosage) that way when you find something that actually works it will support you even at your lowest...
      4. Remember some doctors get kickbacks for prescribing certain medications so when they have an choice they will start with that, it don't mean it won't work but if it don't feel like it's trying to work at first they will often try uping the dosage instead of moving on to something else, which is a waste of your money and more importantly your time...

      The global majority probably wouldn't have felt the way Liam Neeson did. The interesting question is how much hate would Neeson have felt towards a 'white bastard,' committing the crime? White people commit heinous crimes every day of our lives...is it because they are white?

      I am French and there is a lot to say about France, good and bad. Though I am aware of that, I wouldn't want some tourist to come and tell me that Paris streets are smelly or that Parisians are snobbish. When you are a foreigner, you just can't criticize the country or city that hosts you. No matter how accurate you are, this would be impolite.
