Coriolanus wasn't even on my radar when I saw this interview. I'd never heard of it. Just saw it this week and I was blown away. Fascinating story and the layers of meaning in the text made for a brilliant film. Among my top 3 Fiennes performances ever.
He was good in English Patient; Geoffrey Rush was amazing and rightfully won that year. He was unlucky for Schindler's but it was an incredible year in that category.
Anthony Minghella's vision with The English Patient was truly remarkable. The plot of the film (many say lack thereof) was of no consequence, bc the intensity of emotion expressed by the actors was the plot. The visuals, the soundtrack...all genius.
The English Patient was the saddest movie I’ve ever seen . I haven’t been able to look at the desert without thinking of it . Not quite sure what that means, but his performance was immaculate.

You were so intense as Amon in Schindlers List, I couldn't get your performance out of my head. In fact, I was so frightened of you, which indicated how great an actor you are, but 'Quiz Show' allowed us to see you as a vulnerable character.

One of my favorite roles he played was actually being the voice of rameses, moses’ brother in the prince of Egypt. I thought the character was so brilliantly complex for an animated cartoon film. He was the villain but you understood his pain and why he acted that way. I Love ralph💕
I couldn't agree more! My favorite part is when he sings the line in The Plagues, "Then let my heart be hardened, and nevermind how high the cost may grow, this will still be so: I will never let your people go." Gives me chills just thinking about it.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child...? Plz don't kill me...
No Voldemort without Ralph & no Snape without Alan.
Cough cough, Lego Batman movie, cough cough
He was insanely good in "In Bruges". He also hasn't aged since then.
RF is so dark and yet so funny in "In Bruges." So brilliant.
Even though he was the bad guy in 'in bruges' he was also the most honourable and dignified character who was a man of his word, I found it so hilarious 😂
In Bruges is one of the funniest, most depressing movies I've ever seen. So good!
_"How can _*_'In Bruges'_*_ not be on the list with the swans and all those canals and bridges and cobbled streets and those churches, all that beautiful f**king fairytale stuff, how can that not be GQ's f**king thing, eh?"_
Calm down, it's an inanimate object.
@@kapsi _You're an inanimate ****ing object!_
Because it's a shithole. 🤣🤣🤣
GQ were probably put off by the dual carriageway
@@majagara Bruges is _not_ a shithole.
Coriolanus wasn't even on my radar when I saw this interview. I'd never heard of it. Just saw it this week and I was blown away. Fascinating story and the layers of meaning in the text made for a brilliant film. Among my top 3 Fiennes performances ever.
He should've won Best Actor Oscars for The English Patient and Schindler's List.
Supporting Actor for Schindler, not Best Actor.
@@Tazzy5 Agreed.
He was good in English Patient; Geoffrey Rush was amazing and rightfully won that year. He was unlucky for Schindler's but it was an incredible year in that category.
That movie was so beautiful and heartbreaking.
The grand Budapest hotel man, that should've at least earned a nomination
He was so evil in Shindlers list to funny in The Grand Budapest Hotel. The man has a ton of range!
Anthony Minghella's vision with The English Patient was truly remarkable. The plot of the film (many say lack thereof) was of no consequence, bc the intensity of emotion expressed by the actors was the plot. The visuals, the soundtrack...all genius.
He was positively GORGEOUS in that movie.
The English Patient is one of my favorite movies. Got it on dvd and watch it quite often.
The English patient. Unforgettable. Classic.
Oh dear
Oh dear what? It's an absolute masterpiece. A modern casablanca. They don't make them like that anymore.
The English Patient is my favourite film of all time. It's a masterpiece. Right up there with Lawrence of Arabia.
It is very good, have seen it twice, starnge that H. Weinstein saved it.
Most romantic film of all time. ❤
*How do you get yourself in that moment?”
“you just have to hate Harry Potter”- Ralph Fiennes
*gives evil laugh
Best part of the video🤣
Baseball513 Sports I died. 😂
When?
@@Emma-zt8yk 6:05
With that mindset, I could have easily played Voldemort
@@runtwer5700 lol
When Ralph acts it makes me wanna cry. He's extraordinary.
The English Patient was the saddest movie I’ve ever seen . I haven’t been able to look at the desert without thinking of it . Not quite sure what that means, but his performance was immaculate.
It's the most romantic movie , I can still remember Kristin Scott's laugh when he tells her the story
No, seriously him in Prince of Egypt. It was just beautiful. Ever so majestic! He is truly a marvel of an actor!
I've loved him since Schindler's List. He is the sexiest man alive to me.
His brother is quite nice too
I loved him in the grand Budapest hotel, never knew he was so good at comedic timing
One of the finest, gifted actors ever. It is a complete shame he is so underrated.
I consider this man an acting genius. There aren’t many people who can completely disappear in their roles but he absolutely does
How has This man not won an Oscar it makes no sense
Totally fell in love with Mr. Fiennes after watching Quiz Show, Schindler’s List, and the English Patient. Amazing actor; I wish I could afford to see him on stage in London someday.
Wish they had talked about Quiz Show
His performance in Schindlers list is absolutely astonishing, one of my favourite performances of all time.
"I'll be peed if they brought him back and they didn't ask me" lol
Wow. Didn't expect to see you here
OMIGOD, I realize that every film cannot be discussed, but this interview is incomplete without STRANGE DAYS.
One of the greatest actors of our time ... simply brilliant !
I agree!!! He is the best actor in the world. Ralph is amazing and wonderful.
How Tommy-Lee Jones beat Fiennes to the Best Supporting Actor Oscar will forever remain one of cinema's great mysteries.
I'm Batman why should that be a reason to be blacklisted. That does not make sense at all
Don't forget Leo DiCaprio was nominated same category for what eating Gilbert grape
Ralph, Kingsly and Liam were all robbed of an Oscar. Such a good movie. such good actors.
FINALLY an actor who has real ICONIC roles unlike many others in these interviews
Ralph: My sister who has children said..
Me: THATS HERO'S MOM OMFGDJEG
I literally love hero omg #aftermovie
Why is this so me omf 😂😂
@@alyssadorado4140 you are disgusting
SAME LMAO 🤣🤣🤣
Legend.. It's such a shame for academy that he doesn't have an Oscar yet...
AhmedS he was robbed :(
I don't get worked up about Oscars anymore, but the fact that he wasn't even nominated for Grand Budapest is ridiculous. He's so hilariously great in that.
@@hotelfoxtrot87 I just watched it yesterday. His performance was top notch...
Giving him an Oscar would be a blight on his career. Worthless Hollywood tokenism.
So much respect for this man! This is definitely missing The Prince of Egypt and Maid in Manhattan. Such an underrated actor.
Excellent video! Wish he talked about The Prince of Egypt it's truly one of his most underappreciated roles
jediavatarpotter I'm sorry I'm late, but I agree. It was one of my favourite movies when I was younger. Now I want to watch it again!
The Constant Gardener is definitely one of his more underrated films, such a good and relevant story
I love to hear an artist talking about their art. It's almost like this is one the few times when you can see an actor as the person he is.
When he passes , generations of people will know him for his role in schindlers list.
The man doesn't need an Oscar to know he is a good actor.
6:03 "You just have to hate Harry Potter"
Such a good answer
One of the greatest British actors. A marvel to see in theatre.
My favorite roll of his was Francis Dollarhyde in Red Dragon.
His performance in Strange Days (1995) should be mentioned. That movie is a forgotten masterpiece
Classic
Still relevant today with its themes as well!
Why so little about Goeth, that character was absolutely amazing and terrifying!
I mean he's talked about that role probably hundreds of times now, there's not much more he can add
He was quite insane and evil, yet sad, melancholy and capable of deep love (for Helen Hirsch),
Amon Goeth > Voldemort
Perhaps because Goeth doesn't deserve the air time.
How dare they not include maid in Manhattan 😂
meggy I forgot he was in that lmfaooo!
or skyfall and spectre
😂😂
Yes, I literally just first clicked on it hoping to see his comments on it!!
WHAT THAT'S HIM?!
I was hoping Quiz Show would be discussed, but the list of unmentioned films developing in the comments just goes to show what an excellent career he's had!
Same! There’s other obvious pics that weren’t shown but I’m surprised Quiz Show wasn’t one of them!
Same, I love Quiz show so much.
Quiz Show is great.
Quiz Show was an amazing film! Great to see that getting mentioned. :)
His character in Schindler's List tells you all you need to know about an actor. If you hate their character, especially because of how evil they are, then they did their job. He made me hate Amon Göth so he did his job.
Phenomenal actor, it's a crime that he doesn't have an oscar
Why? Awards are meaningless.
Ralph Fiennes just has that "je ne sais quoi" sexiness.
I think his sexiness is pretty palpable and very direct.
agree! I have always admired him, even him as Voldemort lol. but seriosly, there is something about him that is very pleasing, internally and externally. tge way he carries himself, his aura or something
Hes got a classy sexiness about him, like he'll take you out to a top restaurant and a fancy hotel and stuff. His brother Joseph is similar imo
"il est chaud." -guy in 2021
Strange Days, In Bruges and Red Dragon all snubbed...and all my favorite performances
Possibly the Most underrated Actor ever. Should have at least one oscar. He is a genius
Grand Budapest is my absolute favourite movie. It is such a pleasure, it's so unique and funny. a masterpiece. And Ralph was so perfect as M. Gustave
You were so intense as Amon in Schindlers List, I couldn't get your performance out of my head. In fact, I was so frightened of you, which indicated how great an actor you are, but 'Quiz Show' allowed us to see you as a vulnerable character.
19 mins wit Ralph, 39 mins wit Seth rogen??
Maybe Seth Rogen had more time to spare. Or was chattier.
My first thought
Whats wrong with seth rogen?
Uhhh. Seth's calling card is.. pineapple express, knocked up,.. the interview. Ralph, is one of the most under rated actors of all time... He could have carried on for another 20 mins easy.
Completely wrong ! I don’t care 1% about what Seth rogan has to say !
Everyone go see The Menu. It's a really fun and darkly hilarious film and Fiennes is outstanding in it as you'd expect.
One of my favorite roles he played was actually being the voice of rameses, moses’ brother in the prince of Egypt. I thought the character was so brilliantly complex for an animated cartoon film. He was the villain but you understood his pain and why he acted that way. I Love ralph💕
Kiera Jackson yessssss
I was waiting for that one myself!
Ugh, I am actually disappointed that it's not here because it's such a good role that he played
his singing in "Let My People Go" hits me to the core every time
I couldn't agree more! My favorite part is when he sings the line in The Plagues, "Then let my heart be hardened, and nevermind how high the cost may grow, this will still be so: I will never let your people go." Gives me chills just thinking about it.
This is how you pronounce "Budapest". Props to Mr. Fiennes!
They should think about the dumb people in society, I suggest they make it easier for everyone and just name the city 'Budapesjt'
@@maquinamuerte2349 If I'm in Paris and speaking in French I'd probably say "Paree", but if I'm speaking in English, why would I pick out that one word and say it "in French"?
