    Boy I wish y'all were closer to me. I'm 57 year old just getting back into golf after a 7 year layoff due to some pesky cancer issues. Would love to have a complete fitting. Was fitted at local shop and did a good job, but no where near all the tweaking y'all do. Love the videos keep em coming

    I was just fitted at PXG in Scottsdale, AZ and ended up ordering the Gen 4 0811X driver. I can't wait to get it out on the course. This will be a major change for me since for the last 18+ years, I've been using my TaylorMade 300Ti driver.

    Purchased the Proto+ about 7 months ago off a phone fitting at PXG. I tended to hit it with too much of a fade. I went to the new PXG store in Dallas to get fit properly when it opened. The fitter tried to push me into the Gen 4 XF but it was no different or better than the Proto+ in my bag. I asked to try the 0211 just for shits and giggles. Well, to my amazement and pleasure, it turned out to be the driver for me much easier to hit straight and about 9 yards longer. Do NOT let the lower price on the 0211 equipment fool you, it's excellent stuff.

    I just fitted at PXG yesterday. They fitted me into an 0211 last month at 17* launch and 3850 spin. Carry was 235, total 250. I was 100 mph swing and 140 ball speed. I wasn’t happy with the fitting and result, so before my 30 day return was up I went back. Different location and fitter (Tyler at Glendale is awesome). He fitted me into a completely different setup, and I mean different. X-stiff shaft vs stiff in the 0211. 7.5* Gen4 head turned down to 6* compared to regular 9* in the 0211. Diamana S+ 60g shaft +1/2” vs std aldila nv green nxt 55g. End result? 12.5* launch angle, 105 mph head speed, 148.5 mph ball speed, 1950 rpm ball spin, 243yd carry, 282yd total. Smash went from 1.38 to 1.47. Amazing difference!

      They fitted you with 3800rpm spin? That's terrible. I personally think 1950 spin is too low for your speed(realistically any speed from an accuracy perspective, pro's go for 2200 with 180 ball speed, pga tour average is 2600rpm, 11 launch with 160 speed).
      Hook and slice work like this. There is no such thing as true side spin, its vector math between the side spin and the back spin which tilts the angle of rotation. The more backspin you have, the less an equal amount of created sidespin has on effecting the axis of rotation.
      In your scenario, you basically doubled the tilt of your ball axis resulting in significantly more curve on poor shots. Most likey you will also add sidespin as you also reduced the driver loft resulting in even more sidespin.
      How is it working on the course? Are your bads, straight OB?

      I'm just curious no disrespect at all intended but why at 100-105mph swing why do you need a 6 degree driver? My next question is with the new driver you said 1950 spin my question is where was the strike location for that spin rate and if it's average what's the spin window. My last question is did both fitters use the same balls and launch monitor systems? My numbers are 170-180 ballspeed and the lowest loft I can play is 9 degrees to keep my spin in 1800-2100 window but if it's off the toe and the spin drops it's off the planet hook when the spin gets to 1500rpm. We are all different and require different fits but when I see a 100mph swing with a sub150mph ballspeed using a 6 degree head I massively question that fit unless it's a long drive setup. My fear for you is if you fix whatever swing issue is causing such high spin rates because it has to be showing up somewhere else in your game then that long drive setup will no longer work. I'm really curious about your fitting if you don't mind sharing more information.

I also need a higher launch then I get with the X+. I do have it set down in loft and I get about the launch where it should be but I miss right already. Would I be better off to get the 7.5° and up the loft to close the face a bit more?
    Thanks!

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not a bad thought but if launch is an issue I would be cautious of that, without seeing your swing it could be as easy as fixing your AOA, or making sure ball position isn’t to far back in your stance. Inside left foot, take your right hand if the grip at address and slide it down your leg to try and touch your knee. This will out your shoulders on an incline tilting away from the target to help you with launch. In regard to difference between the two Gen 4 is way more forgiving

    I am 79 with an 85-90 swing speed. I jumped at the opportunity to buy a PXG Gen 4 when they were selling for $299. I opted for the Evenflow Riptide CB 50g shat. The driver come with the standard weights (1-10g and 2-2.5g) I would like to get a stronger draw bias, so I started with the 10g in the heel. I still seem to be fading the ball more often than not. Would buying PXG's weight set, and adding a heavier weight in the heel help me?

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s not a bad idea you could go 15 gram in the heel and perhaps a 5 gram in the back to help but you will have to choke down just a bit. Why to lighten up the Swingweight if not you will just make the problem worse. Now another note you could also try flipping the adapter 180 degrees to the PXG logo as this would be the most up right setting as well. But these would be the two things I would try

  • @johnk.atchley5079
    @johnk.atchley5079 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very interesting that you mention the lighter head weight of the Gen4 as a factor in increasing swing speed. I have never given that aspect much thought. But I saw another test like yours (maybe TXG) that mentioned the Callaway Epic being tested was lighter than the Taylor Made Sim2 being compared with it. In that case, the Callaway went a bit further. You would think that if you could swing two clubs at the SAME speed, a slightly heavier head would produce more energy and thus more distance, based on Einstein's E=MCsquared formula. But it seems that in golf, a lighter mass swung faster does the job.

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very good observation but what I will say is that it always depend on the golfer, the good news is that no matter what it will always be one or the other. If lighter weights don’t help, then heavier will, if stiffer flexes don’t work then lighter will, if lightweight shafts don’t work then heavier so you see where I’m going right. So in the end you just can’t be afraid to experiment and test things out. Don’t hesitate to reach out should you have any additional questions

    • @willh.2155
      @willh.2155 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dude, you quoted physics wrong. Einsteins e=mc^2 has nothing to do with energy transfer here. If anything, take a look at momentum transfer which is mv (mass times velocity, total will be a conservative value). Glad to hear you at least trying to use physics, but unfortunately you were wrong. Going back to this customer's swing: higher speed with lighter head potentially means same momentum at impact. The key is to see how much energy got transferred. In all likelihood, one should look at the clubhead speed which gives a better indicator on the ball speed, since the clubhead does not completely stop after hitting the ball (thus not complete momentum transfer). Hope this helps

    • @johnk.atchley5079
      @johnk.atchley5079 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@willh.2155 Thanks. Had to look up momentum force so you got me to learn something. If the same clubhead can be swung faster, its momentum force will increase, which logically would lead to a longer shot. If a heavier clubhead can be swung at the same speed as a lighter one, that will also increase momentum force and thus distance. The question always is whether a given player can swing a heavier clubhead as fast as he or she swung a lighter clubhead. I assume a lot of research is done to find the ideal compromise, where a slightly lighter clubhead enables the player to swing it sufficiently faster that it does result in a gain in momentum force. I suppose they also study whether there are other ways to gain momentum force. For example, keep the clubhead at the same weight or even a bit heavier, but use a lighter (and probably stiffer) shaft that enables a given player to swing the club faster.

  • @stiffdrinkmime366
    @stiffdrinkmime366 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This seems really misleading. 4 mph * 1.4 is 5.6 mph expected increase. Exactly what you saw and not a benefit of the head. The spin difference was interesting, but I am guessing you had the heavy weight in toe on proto to "avoid the left miss." With that option gone in gen 4, did it get placed forward in head to reduce spin?
    According to PXG the 0811 X+ was the one designed for players who hit up on the ball. Strange it's not offered in lower lofts like the regular X - any ideas why they did that?

    • @SwingFit
      @SwingFit  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This one has been a while, and I can’t remember exactly where we had the weights in the Proto, but I do know it came down to strike location, and the doo offer a 7.5 lifted option, hard ti get a hold of but is one of the lowest lofted driver options on the market.
