    203 days (29 weeks) since i broke my ankle, clean break on my fib and i still get aches and pains today.
    it feels weak when trying to play football change of direction hurts the most and feels wobbly when pushing off on it. i think the hardest thing to get over is the mental side of the game and not wanting to re break it so pulling out of challenges and not pushing yourself to what you was once capable of

    i fractured my fibula 6 weeks ago, didnt have to get surgery thankfully, recently took the boot off that they gave me for the 6 weeks and transitioned into a ankle brace, i have tried walking and it feels great sometimes with no pain and sometimes there is pain. i have been doing ankle exercises and doing range of motion stuff that does hurt a little bit but i cant tell if thats good pain or bad pain.

    Hi, I hope you are still reading your comments
    I had an ankle fusion surgery almost 4 months ago, and only recently , I've started to walk on my left foot after the boot and am now slowly with my open flip-flops with socks, of course. I have been swimming for the past 2 weeks and walking in the water, which was scary. But now I have been getting sharp pains like electric shock pains, which is very scary. Is this normal and its part of the heeling ?

    • @sportrehabguide
      @sportrehabguide  ปีที่แล้ว

      Can’t comment on personal situations. You surgeon/physio will be best placed answer those things. From personal experience it’s common to have pain for numerous months but whether it’s down to normal timescales or something new that’s happened post surgery it’s something to discuss on future appointments.

    • @robs1714
      @robs1714 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My physio and surgeon told me it’s a year before I’ll feel normal, I’ve had the same zaps as you by the sounds of it. Lighten up the load for a bit and just keep it moving. It’s going to swell and turn colour for a year … I’m still getting that at 7 mo.

    Hi.. i am from Nigeria. Thank you for the video.. am super glad to see this video hoping it will be helpful to me in time to come.. please i had an ankle injury on my right leg one month ago and the big bone (Tibia) came out of my flesh causing a big wound, while the small bone (fibula) got broken. But after the surgery the (fibula) have been fixed with some irons to keep it strong while it heals which was stitched with no visible wound but the (Tibia) was fixed back to it usual position and was stitched a little which closed only 10 percent of the wound leaving 90 percent of it opened. Because the doctor said is not good to stitch it all closed because the flesh that the bone popped out from was already dead before the surgery so he cut them off meaning i have to wait for the flesh to grow again.. please my QUESTION IS: can i do these exercise while the wound is still open and not yet totally healed or should i wait till the flesh wound is totally healed before i start this exercise? Please a Quick reply will be so HELPFUL 🙏. i am in need of the help. Thank you.

    6 weeks as well recovering from a lower part of the fibula fracture with no surgery, my cast has been changed 3 times since start getting lighter each times and now no needed anymore. The doctor told me to put 50% of my weight to start with for two weeks but feel I can do more. However did you or someone experienced that the foot got bigger each times after standing for some moments? I believe blood circulation or water retention... this is not helping me to exercise standing for long time....
    Any advices on how to reduce that big foot to happen? Do it will get better with time ?
    Thanks again for the great videos

      Commonly when patients return to full weight bearing, the ankle may get swelling towards the end of the day. Usually this vastly dissipates by the morning.

      I had the same surgery, ten screws and a plate. Week 7, in boot for 3 more weeks. Everything I researched showed gradual weight bearing but my surgeon said I can do full weight bearing. I’m being more cautious although doing the PT exercises to build muscle back up. I’m no spring chicken but have been very active all my life. Can’t wait to walk normally again. Good luck on your recovery.

      @@mrking695 How are you doing with your recovery now. I'm into my 4th month on a tremolier ankle break. Do you still have stiffness.

      not really important in the early stages little and often. I usually. 10-15 is usually a safe bet for clinicians to give out!
