- Join us on an incredible journey as we attempt to revive a 1962 Ford Falcon that's been sitting idle for most of its years in California since 1982. This classic beauty has been dormant for over four decades, but with determination and a little elbow grease, we're determined to bring it back to life. Watch as we assess its condition, tackle the necessary repairs, and embark on the ultimate test - a 350-mile journey back home. Will this vintage Falcon roar back to life and hit the road once again, or will it prove too much for our revival efforts? Tune in to find out! Don't forget to like, subscribe, and share for more classic automotive adventures.

No bruh.... this is reality. It always seems suspect to me when all these channels find the old run down cars that have been sitting for 20, 30, 40 years and they not only get them running but drive them x miles. That doesn't seem real, because if the car ran that good and drove that good when it was parked, why was it parked in the first place. And even if you decide to park a vehicle with intentions to keep it, you go out every so often and crank er up and take er around the block. You don't just leave it sit. So to assume a car didn't have real issues when it was parked is silly. I don't think this is a loss for you because you have an old Ford Falcon in extremely good condition. A solid platform. Please don't give up on er. Would love to see an episode with an engine pull and replace. Not only make money on the video... But someone will LOVE to buy it when it's done.
Really appreciate comments like this, we will definitely get back there and replace the engine or try to get her going with a couple different ideas. But there will be another video for sure.
i want put two cents in you are right but common problem is you think logical thats not owner does life gets messy fast back then cheaper to replace design were well ya emotion is key lot people my self want fine buyer to care is idea sad world when family pass it like a last connection and build attachment hoarding is life to me it lot money just parked they can use so that plus wifes want not need new kid hauler gets hard want keep wrenching lot people dont want to
Do you live under a rock? Vehicle are literally abandoned every day
I mean, I live in South America and I wonder the same, a working car wouldnt be parked for nothing. But here everything is expensive so its natural to keep a car running while it still can. Not common in other places of the world. Not impossible to start an old engine also.
ppl abandoncars or keep them parked for dumb reasons all the time. especially with a car like this. its slow and old so it really can't go 70-80 mph all day on the freeway. ppl get new cars and park their old one and ppl die and their old classic car isn't kept up by their kids or whoever. plus theres always loosing interest and might just get busy or lazy. it happens all the time.
Dang fellas, that really sucks, all I could say would be borrow your friends water hose and try to flush it out ,radiator and all and see what happens
Yeah that was one idea, take it to a power wash and see what we can do but we also needed work on the carb. There were many problems
That's why I watch this channel it's real guys doing real work no cuts I appreciate real work fails and wins
Appreciate that!
Only channel I’ve watched do a motor swap in the oriellys parking lot keep doing what your doing because it’s working you’ve got my attention
🙌🏼🙌🏼
i love these videos definitely wouldn’t want to see u guys fully stop em even after u get ur name out there
Definitely! We’d just add in more “build” videos as well
I love this channel. You guys are fun, hilarious and you know what you’re doing. Pretty good eye candy too 😂😂😂
I'm at a loss when it comes to the name of the eye candy, not Alex, but the feller with the gray hoodie with the sullied old painted on blue jeans that highlights his awesome glutes. 😊
@@claztube lol that is alex.

M sister iwned a Falcon and we drove it from St. Joseph, Misouri to Anaheim, California and slept five hours in a Motel in Gallup, New Mexico, Had oil changed in Flagstaff, Az. and we made it in thirty two hours Trouble free rinning at 65 M. P. H. getting 22 M. P. G. on gas and two Quarts of Oil and we burnt Non detergent on the Round Trip. That little motor was far better than my 1956 Victoria that ha to be rebuilt in Tucumcary, N. Mexico with a whole new Crank Shadt Rods and Bearings. and again on the Return Trip at Stratford, Texas , Ford.
Hell yea boys! Tear it up.
Finally!!! Been waiting for the New one! Thanks guys! I’ve always wanted one of these Nasty 302 with a 4/5 speed with a Mini Tub!
More to come! That would be sweet
See all those gems under trees when you’re driving around? You’re not alone.
Hahah, true
Don’t give up guys. Small setback but I love what you’re doing and look forward to these videos.
Thanks!
You guys did yer best Ain't nothing to be embarrassed about you'll get it done, Good Video.
Thanks!
great vid! Yeah, the success of driving anything so far after sitting for even 20 years is tough depending on the climate, environment, and the condition of the vehicle is a huge factor in a success. So many parts fail from sitting. especially brake system and now fuel systems due to the crap fuels. Tires are another. I recently pulled a 72 Chevelle out of a garage sitting for 20 years and brake system was totally junk! No way it was stopping. Tires were rotted beyond junk. Yeah, it did start after a points change and fresh fuel but it was in a decent halfway decent garage. Keep on finding them cars and trucks and do what you do!!!
and thats what makes this one of the best channels on you tube. its the real world not every car you get is a winner but oh man its nice when it is
Heck yeah!
I think this one is definitely a keeper. I would like to see more on this one
More to come!
Really enjoyable to watch and the outcome is realistic. Yeah those radiators get plugged up before they start to leak since it's not a very robust circulation flow on that cooling system. It really could have benefited from a pressure wash. Those carburetors tended to run lean when they had a build up of varnish. From my memory the 144 was light blue (or yellow in the Comet) and the 170 was red, so you might have had the 170 there. In 1965 the same block, but bored out to 200 was a dark blue.
It's always good to show the bad things, but I'm sure you guys are gonna make that car awesome! Keep up the good work and the great content!!
Watched your video on the Falcon great job on getting it at least to run.
So it didn't make the trip o well you all had done your best .
Always love your real content my dudes! Sorry for the rough trip
Appreciate it!!
great video guys, always good to see what you two are up to, sorry the falcon didnt work out for you, look forward to see what you come up with next. Take care guys
Thanks, you as well!
Was looking forward to a DDDT vid, its been a minute. Keep it up!!
Glad ya liked it! More to come
Hey guys, if that is a red valve cover and breather it is a 170...144 is blue...unless they were repainted. Good for 20-22mpg with Fordomatic. Manual tranny might do better on the road. Replace that fuel tank and radiator and change to alternator. The Falcon generator doesn't do much below 1500 rpm. Bought one of these new in 1963. Kept it in the family for 17 years. Required no major repairs, normal service. No rust or probs with interior or finish in 17 years. Original plugs were Autolite.
This is just reality, it's still a great video and I'm sure every single person that liked this video plus the comments is rooting for you no matter what. Keep doing what you're doing, we're here for it! :D
I appreciate that!
"Mowing in Suburbia" would be a great album name.
Nice effort on a solid old rig. Don't give up on it. It's worth saving.
That's the plan!
Keep doin what you do! Love the content and being real!
Will do, thanks!!!
Sometimes they have good bones, but bad guts that fight you every step of the way. And sometimes you pick up a clean Falcon that goes absolutely thermonuclear. It was a valiant effort!
This
This was awesome bri
I got a little chuckle when you were waiting for third gear. Probably a Ford-o-matic two speed! Suits a torquey six pretty well actually. Throw in a 170 or a 200 and enjoy! Can't wait for updates!
Well Done Guys. You tried and its still a basically tidy car for her age. Keep her. Have some more fun with it. Ill be watching.
Bummed you didn't get that thing back to Iowa but still a win for finding it and getting it movin! I thought the 170 in my wife's 72 Maverick was small, we did trailer it home due to the church floors but did get it fired up. Hopefully get it cruising around Boone sooner than later.
OH my God, I saw the name of your channel and knew I HAD to subscribe. I'm a big death trap driver, for SURE. 😂😂😂
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
You should get ahold of sleeper, dude That is as TH-cam channel. This is one of his favorite cars.
Wow! You guys have strong connection with both the local law enforcement and the municipality 😂
You better keep that old fuel pump with the vacuum port on the bottom. They are very expensive and hard to find nowadays and they are for operating the vacuum wipers. You can use a manifold vacuum for them but it’s very inconsistent compared to the fuel pump. I have a 60 comet which is basically the same car and I have to use a vacuum reservoir to get consistency for the wipers because I don’t have that pump
Will keep that in mind!
Another good one guys 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
You may have failed to drive it very far, but you still got yourselves one of the cleanest '60s cars in any video I've seen, so I'd count that as a partial win. Has some nice patina too :)
Very true!
Man oh man, I thought you might have fixed her up with that water pump. Even though it didn't make it. It was a pleasure to watch you two. Oh ya, the alternator swap was nice. Thank you for the video.
Glad you liked it, thanks!
29:59 keep it gangsta dawg keep it gangsta!
Love the video hope you guys had a good holiday glad to see the channel growing
Thanks so much!!
If its a straight six you have my Like!
Great cars. But in Oz the front ends, cooling were too weak. Were beefed up later
True that on front end... The ball joints ended up being the death of my ownership of a '64 Falcon. My paycheck back in the day led me to sell it to a friend with more money. I bought a ten speed Raleigh road bike and became a sick-list totally into biking everywhere for the next decade and loved being strong enough to pedal all over the then greater bay area.
I was entertained. That’s a win.
We're glad you were!
love the channel... keep it up!!!
Thanks! Will do!
In Australia we produced falcons until 2016
That’s sweet!
The deed of 1960 Falcon car color red is Atchison Village and pink slip with sales paper in Richmond,California.
The ole’ Falcon did not want to be “Daily Driven”, but it sure acted like a death trap😂😂 Glad you guys got off the road with it before something bad happened to either one of you. Look forward to the next misadventure 👍💪😎
Thanks! We'll get er runnin
Nice attempt. I’ve recently picked up a 61 Comet with the same engine. Mine had zero compression when I went to start it. Heh. That old engine you got there probably just full of rust gravel in the coolant passages. Pull the hoses all off and pressure wash them. Radiator too. Good luck.
Comment before watching gang~ press dem vida likes and get the ball rollin
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
You'll get the next one. Good effort.
Hope so! thanks!
All it needed was a good flush with a water hose while you had it apart, maybe open the mixture screws up a little
I think this is the case as well seems a simple basic to not do no dollar..
u guys made agood show😎👍
i like the can do attitude that comes with youth. some cars just won't cooperate with the plan. tailer is not failure ha ha. i still like seeing a car getting up running no matter where it is
Thanks!
Two row aluminum radiator fits for 1960 to 1963 Falcon cost $90.00 dollars because high mileage engine get very hot and it breaks head gasket. Brass radiator plus shipping costs from Raleigh worth for sale new $149.97 dollars.
We assume the motor is clogged up, not sure if it's even worth it flushing it, we're bringing a 170 next time we go down.
Good.job Nice car Ford good show 😃👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thanks 👍
u did it that was a good motor
motor was clogged up for sure. It deserves a 170 or even better a v8
Hey guys, Bobby from NJ. Great video. Did you arch the generator? That's what you have to do with generators to get them charging. Also those cars only have a two speed transmission.
That's crazy I'm only 15 minutes from wentzville
A good idea would be to fill up the cooling system with vinegar and let it run for a bit, eat up all the rust and crap in the system ,as u said the radiator was full of crap
Hang in there
We’ll try!
Just found your channel, did I hear right you guys are in Des Moines? If so I'm just down in Indianola. Love the car BTW.
I really hope you guys are bringing a 302 back and install it then you can call it a when in a few months
We already have a (170 I think) gonna go that way since we’ve already got it. Going back soon
Buy and ignition switch and lock cylinder. Unplug the electrical from the old switch. Plug it into the new switch. Install the lock cylinder and wallah you have a working key.. just let the new switch dangle till you drill out the lock cylinder on the old one..
Didn’t feel like getting into the dash, just wanted something super simple and less time consuming to rig up.
The Falcons equipped with the Fordomatic transmission only had two speeds.
Yeah there is no 3rd gear.
You need to get with Sleeperdude and see if he will take that car off your hands and do a video with him because he loves those old fords so keep up the videos you guys are going a great job.
Sleeperdude would take this off your hands for sure!! 😅
Near.the.same.as.australian
Falcon.either.144.or.170.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
While the car did not drive the five hours, it did drive and the body does have a ton of potential. That car would be great to have and engine swap.
True that!
Go Iowa!
Iowa nice!
@@DailyDrivenDeathTraps SE Iowa
Appreciate showing fails and wins
Sucks to happen but glad to show em!
There is one 1960 Ford Falcon color red for each state that is running all right in the year 2024. USA FoMoCo car club
I want that 67...
A California car! Nice find.
Thanks 👍
man, i want that wagon.
oh yeah!
At 300 degrees it should have seized up .Something i definitely funny , perhaps the temp gauge was reading a hot spot .
Nice death trap😮😮😮🚙🚙🚙👍
You said metal sheet girth that is what you call it Right there where the one of two angles attached between the firewall to one side fender. And another part of girth from firewall to the passenger fender in an angle.
From what ive seen on youtube if you guys want to do more builds then revivels you should start now. If you keep doing revivals your gonna build a type of audience that only watches revivals. If you start doing builds now yes your views will drop but in the long run, you'll build a community that came for builds and will stay. Hope you guys make profit one day.
We'll always do revivals, we'll just have some more builds mixed into the upload schedule. We sorta make a good amount just from ad rev but a lot of it just gets reinvested into doing more videos
@DailyDrivenDeathTraps I'm here for the long ride. Can't wait for more builds especially if you do end up puting a diesel in it.
You guys lucked out. I live right by wentzville and theres nothing but rust around here
Just a little bit over an hour away from me lol down by Farmington mo
I'd like to see a mild 289,mustang2 front clip with discs, and a 8.8 rear swap in there with Fiero buckets and turbo can paint job!! If you're interested in selling this car ill gladly take it and do exactly that with it! Be a cool way to start my channel! IJS!
We’ll keep that in mind!
I'm sure Bob would tell you that you gotta know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em and know when to run away ! Next time Bois !
Our savior didn’t come down from the clouds to tell us what was wrong with it. Bob whyyyyy
Man, weren't you ever told to never put coolant in when a motor is boiling and you killed the Motor? Looking at your advertisement on your shirt after seeing you do that, I am wondering just how experienced you truly are.
I remember back in the early 1980's when I was at a gas station filling up and this guy came rolling in FAST. His car was steaming over bad, so he hopped out lifted the hood, grabbed a water hose and started SPRAYING DOWN THE ENGINE!! I yelled at him not to do that when suddenly "CRACK". I couldn't believe what I was seeing!! This was back in the days when some stations still had water hoses. This was a regular water hose though with high volume. He destroyed that engine. Absolutely a true story. Haven't thought about that in years until I read your comment.
That bubbling out the radiator means a blown head gasket, your blowing exhaust gasses into the cooling system.
24:03 "Dry as a Bell up here" LOL. Are Bells really THAT dry? Just kiddin ya!
hahaha, so far all the bells ive come across are pretty dry! hahahaha
My folks had a Falcon with the 144 engine. It would top out at about 80, with a tail wind and down hill. It wasn't a bad car, just very dull. lol
😮
So......the answer to the question "will she run and drive 350 miles" is a resounding "No" .......but to be truthful, it should be stated as "Not Yet". I reckon a damn good flush through the engine with a high pressure hose would de-crud the internals, but a lot of it would already be in the radiator now too....sadly. Regarding the potential "lean burn", a hot engine will always make your plugs look lean and coincidentally, a lean burning engine will run hotter than normal, but not 300 degrees for sure! You COULD cook a roast dinner or bake a cake at that temperature, but it's certainly not ideal for combusting fuel and air in an efficient manner. Man, I too have NEVER seen a gauge cranked that far around! When gauges used to only go to 230, I had one buried at the end of the sweep, but the gauge on the Falcon was at a whole new level! It's a bit sad because the car looked like it would just start up and go, with how clean it was otherwise, eh. You gave it a valiant effort....a falcon good effort (groan) in fact, but she obviously wants to rest a bit more before she comes back to the road.
Glad you learned the 1960's Ford ignition key trick though - I kept yelling at the screen for you to just use a screwdriver and not bother with hotwiring the old girl, but hey - crap happens with that too, eh? I had a 1965 Cortina that I used to carry a small screwdriver to unlock and start the thing. It used to be a party piece that I'd wheel out for people in public places on occasion. Happened to be parked on the side of the road and was unlocking it in this manner when a cop car went past me one day. The two cops in the car went along, turned around and drove back, looking at us the whole time. I think the fact I got the beast started and drove off sedately was enough for them to leave me alone that time (hey - it was the 80s!). Never did it again though!
All he best for the next one....and I'd love to see what you do with the Falcon now. She's so solid that she has GOT to go back on the road. If you guys don't want to go any further, maybe hit Josh (aka Sleeperdude) up - he loves his early Falcons and I'm sure he'd love one that's so clean underneath.
Haha wish we knew about the screwdriver thing earlier. Gonna cook a roast next time we go down before engine swapping it
If you acquire 2 or 3 falcons, you can make 1 good one.
Seems like this was of your own making. Why not bring a $26 water pump with you and just change it out? Like points. Carb kits. Still good content. Keep it up. 👍😁
What do you mean? we replaced the water pump and replaced the points twice. Carb kit we brought was wrong and that’s the parts stores fault
Will you win some and you lose some my friend this one you might think you have lost but in the long run you've learned something hey everything's not a loss pick up and Keep On Keepin On that's all you can do my friend
Thanks!
This car needs to be called Lazarus, it’s back from the dead.
Definitely. It laid dormant for a while lol
I forget which car it was that y'all gave the roof a lace paint job and put some kick ass wheels and tires on it. do that to this one. Do something along those lines. make it look tough AF.
Bro people would hateeee that and I would like to so bad hahaha
Take a car trailer with you might help😅
I'm pretty sure that falcon only has a 2-speed automatic might be a little hard to hit third gear with that LMAO have a good one guys
Dang it! I was cheering for you guys. Thanks for all hard work! You could LS swap it with twin turbos. Just saying.
Haha it would
Good effort guys. No shame at all.
Thanks! We’ll be back
Bummer.
It’s been my experience that some owners of cars in warm climates only run tap water in the cooling systems. Then, especially when the car sets up for an extended period, the cooling systems rust to the point of clogging the cooling passages. Sometimes a flush can help but with one as clogged as yours seems to be, in my experiences, that’s never fixed the problem. I don’t know if the engine can be saved by having it vatted then rebuilding it as I never tried but simply scrapped and replaced it instead.
Just the experiences of an old Texas shade tree. I wish you good luck whatever you decide to do with it.
We’ll head back with another engine. But first we’ll try to flush and mess with the carb a bit.
Great try
You learned can’t win them all
You get an A for effort !!!
You got that right! Thanks
The cakes in those jeans! Talking about the car of course 😂 but y'all channel is a real channel and honest
