Thats a utiiity trailer that clamps to the rear bumper of your car... My father had a covered one that clamped onto the bumper of our old pickup & we stored fishing & camping gear in it and hit the mountains in summer
I say this as an FYI for your plans to drop the complete impala SS setup into the Corvair. Before doing any LS performance upgrades, get the transmission checked out, if not overhauled first. The 4T65E shit the bed with the 3.5L v6 so you can imagine the shortened lifespan bolted to a 300hp LS4, let alone a modified one. If you guys really plan on making stupid power with the corvair and not break the bank completely by going race car transaxle, consider looking for a 60’s-70’s Oldsmobile Toronado. Those came with a heavy duty turbo 400 that can handle a lot more power compared to the 4T65E and there’s no computer to deal with.

That is actually the way the car collects heat for the heater; those “bellows” are temp activated. 2nd gen Corvairs ‘65-69 are really underrated cars. Underpowered, but really cool. BTW, if that is a ‘66 4 speed, it’s worth some money. First time Corvair had a fully synchronized trans. 61-65 trans had no synchro first gear.
That cowl hood's bad ass, it's gotta give you room for like 1 or 2 more bags of groceries! Seriously though, y'alls channel is f'n awesome, love the content!

BTW, the engine sounded awful when it restarted after the fire because it was detonating because it was hot. Once it cooled off, it ran normally. Glad you didn’t wipe it out!

Sounds like a hell of a plan, worried about that Trailer tire though doing a drag & drive.
Unreal how that engine fired up & ran after sitting that long.
Dad had an 66 Corsa back in the 80's, it was a stick with 4 Carb's instead of 2, FUN RIDE.
I guess we'll see how it does haha! Yeah it was surprising how well it started, usually we have problems with pulling gas or someone messing with timing, but since it was in the yard, we knew it wasn't fondled with too much hahaha

Spent lots of road time with my best friend and his Corvair. We actually dropped the motor out of it just by removing the two fine thread nuts toward the back. Also remember my grandfather had a one wheel trailer back in the late 50’s.

I had a 67 Corvair back in the 70's and dreamed of putting a V8 in it, today I have a C8! I look forward to following this conversion. Check out John Reynolds outstanding conversion!

I spent lots of miles behind the wheel of a 1962 Corvair convertible. Thankfully we never did a backflip! But we definitely felt the front lifting off the road once, to the point where I lost effective steering. A quick touch of the brake pedal brought the front back down and I regained control.

My Corvair is one anti theft inspection in July away from being my daily driver lol. Don’t throw that engine away! There’s a strong Corvair community and someone will definitely want it! Those engines are super easy to rebuild.

All that oil is probably from the orings failing on the pushrod tubes; old rubber can’t handle that air cooled heat. Now they have seals made from Viton; problem solved.

Set it up with a mechanical injection, twin turbos and larger jugs.
Think of it as a Stage III Yenko Stinger
Fire means you did something wrong. ANY bits of miuse house in the fins or in the lower shrouds will burn, actual oil fires are not easy to put out like that. Maybe you got lucky maybe the oil wasnt actually burning yet.
Mine doesnt leak though.

We started with sat sun last year, end of year. Then went to monday and saw a decline. Now starting sat afternoon/ sunday depending on how fast I need to edit. We're still studying it tho!
somewhere around early 1970s we had a saw like the one behind the corvair my father would rig up a old truck to rub the pully and turn the blade and we cut wood i got cut really bad but the pully had a spot broken out of the pulley just like the one behind the corvair what are the odds i am in south east alabama

Enjoy your show guys very much but you know that’s an air cool engine like Volkswagen you ran it for any length of time you need to adjust the valves the noise I was hearing when you started it up after the fire I would recommend you adjust the valves it’s easy to do Great by the way, I have one in my station wagon produce and over 280 hp with my turbo Corvair engines are great

All I can say is the transmission for the corvair most def won’t hold up but I can’t wait to see it done also the impala transmission is probably toast too not to be a downer but most of the have issues.
Well darnit, someone recommended the tornado with the 400 and that might be an option before we get cuttin.

Those cars have a cool look. Would be cool to see someone body swap on to a rear wheel drive chassis and make a cool burn out car. Take it to cleetus events.
The G.M g body frame will fit under a Corvair with minor mods. Track width and wheelbase are almost identical making for a great front engine Corvair
I'm still trying to figure out why anyone would put a hood scoop on a Corvair, LOL!
