I just finished watching all three of your Star Wars reaction videos. As a 50 year old adult, I just re-lived my own childhood wonder of Star Wars through this young woman's eyes. Thank you both and keep on doing what you are doing.

5:30 Fun fact: This scene with the dancer in the Rancor Pit was shot 13 years later and added to the 1997 Special Edition release. They hired the same actress who still looked in great shape after 13 years!

Actually, you could have even watched Rogue One before watching the original trilogy as it doesn't give anything away, and it introduces you to Vader, Tarken, the Rebellion, and the Death Star, without spoiling anything coming up.
Excellent reaction! Your wife doesn't say a lot verbally during the movie since she's paying attention and processing what's happening, but her face is so expressive and a lot of fun to watch. Also, she has a natural reaction and isn't using the too-overly-expressive "reaction face". It's refreshing to see someone genuinely reacting to these films and not performing for the camera. I can't wait to watch other videos from you two!
@@viefcheesecake, and Solo and great series like Mandolorian, Kenobi, Ashoka, Book of Boba Fett, Andor….Love these and I’m so old old school I watched the original trilogy in theaters back in the late 70s early 80s….
I wish you would have been able to watch the original version and not the remastered. The scene where Vader saves Luke has way more tension since he says nothing before grabbing the Emperor and tossing him over the rail. Regardless of that, I can't explain how satisfying it is watching someone's honest reactions to these films. Thanks for sharing the experience with us.
I like Vader's first "no", but despise the second "NOOOOOO!!!". The first is powerful, and the first time in the films that Vader actually stands up to and denies the Emperor's wishes. It was simple and confidently spoken. The second was like the whining of child Anakin and broke the immersion.
I just left a comment wishing they reacted to the true OT as well. I watch a ton of reactions to the OT and confusion is the overwhelming reaction when Hayden appears. It was also so wrong to replace Sebastian Shaw on so many levels both in story and real life. Wrong storywise because Anakin returned and died as himself as an older man. Not as a younger Anakin. So the elder Anakin is who should have appeared as a force ghost. Not to mention that Luke likely wouldn't have even recognized him if he did appear as his younger self. And it was wrong for George to have replaced the actor morally because it was Sebastian Shaw's last appearance on film before he passed away. What incredible disrespect. Also agreed with the " No " dialogue by Vader before he tosses the emperor over the rails. It was so much more powerful the way it was originally without dialogue because when he was looking back and forth between his son and the emperor we had no idea who he was going to side with so the scene only increased in intensity the longer it went on. But with this version once he says " No " the first time you instantly know what his choice is so there's far less suspense and emotional build. It's strange that George didn't understand this but a lot of fans did. I mostly get blowback from younger know-nothings who grew up with the revisionist versions whenever I post about the unaltered OT. It's tiresome having to explain why the real OT is so important for the aforementioned reasons and more. But it's also vital to keep the true OT alive. Thanks for being a real OT supporter too.
That last shadow of Vader's theme as he dies hits hard. This movie has two of the most heinous changes in it - replacing Anakin's ghost's head with Hayden Christiansen's, and having Vader scream NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! as he grabs the emperor - it was so much better without that cheesiness.
The way your wife is reacting to the scenes of importance, is so much fun to watch. I enjoyed so much to see her and her reactions! I would love to have a wife, who would get affected this much like your wife does! Great job, guys! By the way: You are such a nice couple! The way, you interact with each other tells me, that you have a very healthy relationship. It seems, that you are happy together! 😃
When Luke attacks the Emperor with the saber, Vader blocks him not to protect the Emperor, but to protect Luke. Because at this point he didn´t want the same dark fate for his son.
The sequel trilogy is so much better than the prequel trilogy though. It's crazy how Star Wars fans have (in general) completely turned around on the prequel trilogy for some reason. They were trash then, and they're trash now. The sequel trilogy at least felt like good movies, even if you didn't like the character developments.
What an ending to the Star Wars trilogy, I’m sure that no film making company would ever attempt to make a sequel to this and tarnish the legacy of this franchise right?
@@dansharp2860 exactly! And I’m sure if they did they wouldn’t allow 2 different directors with completely visions to split the next trilogy between them and create a complete incoherent mess 😅
I just love how he acts as though nothing made by Disney exists. That's the sign of a true fan. If you haven't seen it, I recommend watching "Fanboys". It's the ultimate fan tribute film
Rogue One was good especially how it linked directly to ep. IV, but thats the ONLY disney SW movie thats even worth watching, even out of morbid curiosity. Andor was good and the first 2 seasons of the mandalorian, but IMO neither is really part of the 'true' star wars universe, rather thet are not-terrible adjacent content.
What an awesome journey with you two. Loved both of your reactions. One thing I will say is that regardless of what you may think of the sequel trilogy, there are incredible highs sprinkled throughout those films. I say that as someone who doesn't really care for them. I think despite the final film really going off the deep end, they're worth watching, for those great moments. Thanks for these reaction videos.
Steph's facial reactions are just gold! When her face lit up seeing Leia under the bounty hunter mask or when seeing the Ewoks for the first time. The confusion when it was revealed that Luke and Leia are brother and sister and the horror in her face when seeing the Emperor unleash electric bolts out of his finger tips etc. Absolute gold! 🤣
for me its when yoda died ... she looked like luke did in the film ...so nice to see the amzment and sadness in her eyes ... reminds me when my son first watched star wars the PM its his fav movie as its the first star wars he watched as my partner at the time put it on ... personally i was abit grumpy she did it in the wrong order ..lol but even she loved that movie i guessed its why she put it on ...
I remember vividly walking home from the movie theater with a friend after seeing this, talking about all the cool things we just watched and how badly I wanted a speeder bike. I had never seen such a full theater... we couldn't even sit together because it was literally at capacity. Empire is still my favorite but Jedi was easily my favorite movie-going experience of all of the SW films.
Jedi's only use their skills for knowledge and defense. the start of the final fight with Vader, Luke tries to avoid engaging with him as he's only defending himself and trying diplomacy. When Vader threatens his sister, now he's defending his family and the breaks come off and goes on the offensive. one of my favorite little snippets
Loved your reaction, Steph. In a way, you're very lucky for watching this fantastic trilogy for the first time ! Old timers, like me, like to watch them again and again, but the first time has a special magic in it, that can be lived only once I don't know if you guys are into movie soundtracks, and you didn't comment anything about it throughout your viewings, but this trilogy stands high among the best works of the Grand Master John Williams. Great part of the beauty of the movies is due to the wonderful scores that underline and set the tone for every moment. I have the soundtracks in every edition that was released, and from time to time I made a 6 hours session listening to everything, from back to back So, shall we meet again in The Phantom Menace ? May the force be with you !
You're a lucky guy to be able to enjoy Star Wars with your lady. One of the best things about Star Wars is passing it on to others. Great series! I hope you watch them all.
As a kid watching this for the first time (and many times after), I never realized until I was older that the title "Return of the Jedi" was not about Luke, but about Vader who redeemed himself by saving his son, completing his return to the good side.
I am 55yo, and I grew up on Star Wars. I love your reactions, and I would like to educate you both on a particular character in this film. I am speaking of the Ewok who befriends Leah. That Ewok is portrayed by an 11yo Warwick Davis. You would know him as Leprechaun, Willow, and Professor Flitwick. I look forward to your reactions to the prequels.
I think the number of people like Steph, who never saw these, is a rapidly shrinking group. So watching her discover these stories afresh is particularly precious. It brings tears to my eyes to see her fall for these characters!
Darth Vader needed the suit to live (you will understand it more with the prequels), and without the suit only his rage and anger could keep him alive. When he came back to the light, with the suit circuits broken by dark force lightnings, there wasn´t chance to survive.
Saw this in the theaters last year for the first time for the movies 40th anniversary. What a treat was to see it on the big screen. Crazy to think that “he’s my brother“ was the last line in a Star Wars movie for 16 years until the Phantom Menace.
So, I just came across your Empire Strikes Back reaction video and enjoyed it so much, I had to watch your Star Wars & Return of the Jedi videos as well. Reaction videos are great overall, especially with Star Wars films for me, but yours take it a step further. To see how much Steph gets completely sucked in and fully invested in the story is the best part! It reminds the viewer how we felt when we saw these movies for the first time ourselves and for me brings a bit more emotion to the entire story. Great work with this and I'm really looking forward to your prequel trilogy videos! Really enjoyed it, thank you!
Can’t wait to see your reaction to the Prequels. There’s this TH-camr who has this channel called CinemaSins where he lists errors or things wrong that happens in movies. An example of this being where a character watches something that is about to land on them (like a boulder coming down a hill), and then the object lands on them. Instead of the character simply getting out of the way before being hit. So in the CinemaSins for Return of the Jedi. The guy who runs the channel says that the look of surprise that Han gives Leia after Leia reveals that Luke is her Brother was Han thinking about how She kissed her brother in The Empire Strikes Back. I think that is funny and probably what Han was actually thinking.
So many people don't understand why Vader is dying after that. It's not hard. He's mostly a machine now and his systems just got electrocuted. I still cry about the computer I lost from lightning :P
I love these videos and your lovely wife! It's so nice to see someone new watching the original trilogy for the first time!! I am excited to see her watch the prequels. I hope she likes them They were not me favorite when they came out but they have grown on me over the years. Thanks for the video!
Prequels good, sequels bad, but NOTHING can touch the original trilogy. Thanks so much for watching. I am EAGERLY awaiting your reaction to the prequels. Your reaction to these three have been the best reaction I've ever seen, and I've watched dozens.
I recall seeing the original in the theatre in 1983. The two silly and melodramatic "No"s were added in the Special Edition, so we had no warning what Vader was about to do. The entire place erupted in huge and sustained cheers when he grabbed the emperor and tossed him away. Everyone in the whole theatre was experiencing the same feelz, and left with a big grin on their face.
Liam please don't feel like you have to apologize for stating your opinion that the sequels suck. They do. And it is so so sad that they wasted the opportunity to continue Han, Luke and Leia's story in a positive way.
@@ULYSSES-31 The first 2 have issues but there are things to like. 2 is particularly painful thanks to the dialogue even if that fits Anakin's character. 3 is much better and ranks just below the OT. Padme having nothing to do lowers it. Editing out the Rebellion stuff was the right move but it made Padme look really weak and just there to deliver Luke and Leia and then die.
@@dansharp2860 Lucas caught lightning in a bottle when Empire was even more artistic and fantastic than A New Hope. I enjoy Return of the Jedi but not like Empire And New Hope. Getting two incredible films was more than we could ask for, and finishing off the original trilogy with a good film like Return of the Jedi was awesome. But diminishing returns is a real thing. I too agree that Revenge of the Sith was the best of the Prequels, but 1 and 2 were so mediocre that it had a low bar. All Star Wars films have good scenes to a different degree (even the Sequels, though there aren't many!), and Revenge of the Sith has some of the most iconic, memorable scenes (You were my brother Anakin), but it also has some of the worst (No...I'm SO in love with YOU).
1. Best guess is that Han was Jabba's "trophy" for about a year and a half before the rescue. 2. Vader discovered Leia as Luke's sister because he could feel it through Luke. Luke didn't know that until just before then. 3. Luke's light saber is green because he lost his old one along with his hand so they decided to make it green because it worked better in the desert background landscape. 4. Everybody is freaking out because Luke and Leia kissed mostly because she was trying to piss off Han. They didn't know they are related. 5. The "I love you. I know" was written into the script to get Leia the shot to say it to Han. 6. This was Warrick Davis's/Lead Ewok first acting gig. He was only 13. "Willow" is his lead with Val Kilmer and worth a first time/share. 7. Awesome camera work with the race through the forest. Nobody in their right mind would go that fast. 8. Carrie Fisher said in her biography that the most satisfying part in her Star Wars experience was choking out Jabba. 9. Jedi is plural. With Luke and Leia leading the way they can reestablish the Jedi back into the galaxy. 10. Ford wanted Han to die in the last episode. 11. IMVHO this is the best of the original 6 George Lucas Star Wars. After the first six he sold it to Disney, and everything changed. Sadly 12. RIP James Earl Jones😇
Some good thoughts and points. Though point "2": Vadar read Luke's thoughts due to his worry for Leia, that is why he said, "Your thoughts betray you." and the feelings come in when he said, "Your feelings have now betrayed her too." Meaning his feelings made him think of Leia which let Vadar read it, betraying her. Point "10": Ford wanted Han to die before that, mostly due to not wanting to play the character any more. It was the main reason for the Carbonite Freezing as it gave them the option either way if they couldn't work things out with Ford. It was also why Ford was checked out for "RotJ". Absolutely RIP James Earl Jones... and Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Alec Guinness, David Prowse, Kenny Baker, Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing,...
Oh this was only 9 days ago. Awsome. Watching your wife tear up. It really is like watching it again with a new friend. Thank you guys so much. Don't listen to the critics the prequels are just as amazing. The thing is people waited years for them and they just had high expectations. it's hard to make something were everyone already knows the ending.
The biggest mistake that any movie reactor - or anyone - can make is give in to peer pressure. Liam and Steph, if you want to watch all the Star Wars movies, then DO IT! 👍👍 It's YOUR channel. The opinions of certain negative people here are irrelevant. They're just movies. Enjoy!
Liam, you do a FAR better job rewatching with someone who hasn't seen the films than I EVER would. I would be the nerdie guy that says, "Oooh, this is the great part where..." and "Ooh, watch this!..."
To second another’s comment, all the Star Wars movies are entertaining and worth watching. Please watch for yourself and make your own judgement. Great reaction!👍🏾
Just my opinion, but a young Anikin spirit force was wrong. It confuses everyone who watches this movie. Ppl (and Lucas) can make all the excuses they want, but they're just excuses.
Yup. All the SE additions were mistakes. I wouldn't care so much if George had remastered and released the Theatrical Version also. Ego is a terrible thing sometimes.
They COULD have done some kind of transitional effect, where old Anakin is shown first, then fades to young Anakin, symbolizing him going back to the Light. Or something.... It is pretty jarring to see Hayden suddenly appear in this film.
@@vicolin6126 Nah, he was already in the light and became a Jedi once again, before he died, at the moment he brought balance to the Force by killing the Emperor and leaving the Dark Side. That is why he said, "You already have Luke!" when Luke said he had to save him. So, transitioning would not make any sense. It was done purely to validate the PT, just as the stupid "N-o-o-o-o-o-o!" they added to Vadar saving Luke only because Vadar said it in "RotS".
Just a little and friendly critic to my part : it's a pity that you don't discover the originals movies to your wife. I mean the originals editing. And it is easy to find them on internet, some fans built a "despecialized" editions of the tree movies in good quality. Maybe you grow up with the specials editions (I don't know how hold you are) but if you don't have to see the originals editions (without CGI effects ans some other things) i advice to you (to you two) to see them. In return of the jedi there are two things which are, for my part, very ugly and dirty : the "No!" of Vader to make an echo with episode 3 make me angry : in the original the emotion is in the silence of Vader and you know he hesitate without see his eyes. That was great, don't need to make reference to an other chapter which didn't exist at this time. And the second is the replacement of Sebastian Shaw by Hayden Christensen of course.
Especially this one. I feel like ROTJ had the worst changes with Jabbas Palace's song, the little shop of horrors sarlac, taking out yub nub, and worst of all, the "Nooooo" from Vader. This is just a horrible version!
Liam and Steph, I urge you to ignore all the negativity regarding the Prequel and Sequel trilogies. Make up your own minds about them. Every one of them are entertaining. The Prequel trilogy (Episodes I, II, III) and the sequel trilogy (Episodes VII, VIII, IX) were VERY successful at the box office. All that matters is what YOU think of them. I hope you watch and enjoy all of them. It's STAR WARS! It's all just entertainment.
@@monkeyzorr3090 Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean he's lying. He was correct in saying it matters what the person themselves thinks of them, not some rando on the internet such as yourself.

(Sorry I just started watching your channel with STAR WARS, so I don't remember your names). I think the wife will really enjoy the prequels...no spoilers lol!! I'm subscribed now! Not really with this though. They clearly grew up on different planets and this film clearly says they were twins that were separated so there is no WAY someone is saying I spoiled that. You can’t win sometimes😂
Don’t worry about the spoilers with your wife. She is enjoying these movies regardless, and she is adorable with her reactions to these movies. It’s a way for all of us to relive those moments.
Even watching scenes brings me back to the genius the OT was, i had to grab a box of tissues. ROTJ is also my personal fave because of Anakin's redemption. That is after all, the overall story of Star Wars...Anakin.
I was just at the rigth age where ROTJ was the first movie I decided to go see with friends. I attest lo all these years later: Based on my personal reaction, audience reaction, and the current generations reactions, Luke Skywalker doing the back flip off the sail barge is still the single most exciting moment in cinema history, ahead of Thor's entrance in Endgame with Stormbreaker.
When I was a young kid and watching the original trilogy in the movies, I always felt they were Luke's story. But after the prequels, only then did I realize that both the prequels and original movies were actually all Anakin's story and his transformation from good, to bad, and back again. All six movies really put you on a big journey. Grest sci-fi, and a great story!!!
you either got better at staying quiet or better at editing it out LOL. I know a lot of us were pretty harsh on you. But this reaction was much better than the first 2.
I loved seeing Steph experience the suspense, thrill and excitement of this wonderful story. 👍👍 I felt like I was back in the theater, seeing it for the first time. Many audiences did weep for Vader. It is possible to forgive a man for his crimes when he shows true remorse and tries to make things right. Great fun!!
It was good that he saved Luke and killed the Emperor...but that doesn't whitewash his history of torture (including his own daughter), murdering children, betraying and killing good Jedi, the billions of people galaxy-wide who perished under the Empire, and the entire population of the galaxy being under the dictatorship and oppression of Palpatine, which he fully supported. Lucas was right to let him die and find peace. Anakin living would have introduced very uncomfortable ideas of justice for all those wronged into a child's film.
@@rikk319 ... Hypothetically speaking: If Anakin had lived, he would have faced the consequences of his actions. The New Republic would not have simply forgiven him and set him free. Anakin's death - the intimate moment between father and son - was 100% personal. In that context, we can show compassion for Anakin.
That was great! Thank you! I promised that after you’ll watch ep.6 I’ll reveal my most favorite line of all the movies I ever watched in my entire life, which was in “Return Of The Jedi” … and I’ll keep my promise - it is: “I am a Jedi, like my father before me”.
I like the "Noooooo", it sounds like something anakin would do. I agree with the first thing though.
Local Star Wars fan appalled that a Father would cry out at the attempted murder of his child.
Thank you! Really appreciate that!❤️
When Luke attacks the Emperor with the saber, Vader blocks him not to protect the Emperor, but to protect Luke. Because at this point he didn´t want the same dark fate for his son.
That's what I thought and I only now realized it! Perfection

“Not many people like what they did with those stories. So everyone just forgets about them.” - I’m certainly trying to, Liam!
i think we would all like to forget
The sequel trilogy is so much better than the prequel trilogy though. It's crazy how Star Wars fans have (in general) completely turned around on the prequel trilogy for some reason. They were trash then, and they're trash now. The sequel trilogy at least felt like good movies, even if you didn't like the character developments.

What an ending to the Star Wars trilogy, I’m sure that no film making company would ever attempt to make a sequel to this and tarnish the legacy of this franchise right?
right? Surely they wouldnt!
And if they did they would surely take the time to plan it all out so it made sense. Wouldn't they?!

I'm so excited for y'all to watch the prequels! Watching Steph experience Star Wars for the first time just brings me so much joy
I just love how he acts as though nothing made by Disney exists. That's the sign of a true fan. If you haven't seen it, I recommend watching "Fanboys". It's the ultimate fan tribute film
Nah. Most is crap, but Rogue One and Andor are fantastic.
@@rikk319 They really aren't.
@@sandman_says_runrunner4701 Compared to Leprechaun, Rise of Skywalker is fantastic. There's this thing called subtlety, or measurement by degree.
@@rikk319Everything by Disney is shit
Rogue One was good especially how it linked directly to ep. IV, but thats the ONLY disney SW movie thats even worth watching, even out of morbid curiosity.
Andor was good and the first 2 seasons of the mandalorian, but IMO neither is really part of the 'true' star wars universe, rather thet are not-terrible adjacent content.

This is too good!!! Hahhaha👍 Great reaction

Enjoy how much she has gotten into these movies!!
This has been great! Thank you, guys, for turning back the clock for someone who was a little boy in 1977.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for watching with us!

Cant wait to see her reaction to Episode 3
Yeah
This is why I watch reactions
Thank you! ☺️
Nice!! Yeah I always wanted a blue light saber until this movie and then I was green all the way!! Haha
Such a good fight! I really loved this movie! ☺️
Loved your reaction, Steph. In a way, you're very lucky for watching this fantastic trilogy for the first time ! Old timers, like me, like to watch them again and again, but the first time has a special magic in it, that can be lived only once
I don't know if you guys are into movie soundtracks, and you didn't comment anything about it throughout your viewings, but this trilogy stands high among the best works of the Grand Master John Williams. Great part of the beauty of the movies is due to the wonderful scores that underline and set the tone for every moment.
I have the soundtracks in every edition that was released, and from time to time I made a 6 hours session listening to everything, from back to back
So, shall we meet again in The Phantom Menace ?
May the force be with you !
Thank you. I know Liam LOVES the Star Wars soundtracks. The music is really great!
You're a lucky guy to be able to enjoy Star Wars with your lady. One of the best things about Star Wars is passing it on to others. Great series! I hope you watch them all.
Thank you! She is really enjoying her journey!

Warwick Davis is a Star Wars staple, having played so many characters in so many films...
Facts, Thank you!
I think the number of people like Steph, who never saw these, is a rapidly shrinking group. So watching her discover these stories afresh is particularly precious. It brings tears to my eyes to see her fall for these characters!
❤️
Darth Vader needed the suit to live (you will understand it more with the prequels), and without the suit only his rage and anger could keep him alive. When he came back to the light, with the suit circuits broken by dark force lightnings, there wasn´t chance to survive.
Saw this in the theaters last year for the first time for the movies 40th anniversary. What a treat was to see it on the big screen. Crazy to think that “he’s my brother“ was the last line in a Star Wars movie for 16 years until the Phantom Menace.
45:41 "he's done a complete 360 now." I think she means "he's done a complete 180 now."
360 is a full circle, so he would be going the same way.
Hey! No I meant 360! I meant that he went from good to dark then all the way back to good again! ☺️
@@Reactsandgames she hadn't seen the good side of Anakin...
I’m confused. There are multiple moments during these movies where they say anakin used to be a good Jedi! Good to bad back to good….a full 360.
Really appreciate that thank you! Can’t wait to start the prequels. Starting this weekend!

Haha it is funny to think that way! He probably did think that (knowing Harrison Ford😂)
Liam, my wife is half my age (48 and 24). She never seen Star Wars ever and it warmed my heart to watch her mesmerized by the Original Trilogy.
Awesome!
So many people don't understand why Vader is dying after that. It's not hard.
He's mostly a machine now and his systems just got electrocuted.
I still cry about the computer I lost from lightning :P
I also always thought (even before any of the prequels/sequels) that the Emperor was somehow keeping him alive as well.

@@ianfortier6796Ten years ago it was basically expected to think that to be respected in the fandom.
Yeah, bit gutted it was the remaster versions!

Liam please don't feel like you have to apologize for stating your opinion that the sequels suck. They do. And it is so so sad that they wasted the opportunity to continue Han, Luke and Leia's story in a positive way.
Prequels are shite too.
To you they suck. To hundreds of thousands they don't suck. Complainers just have louder voices.
"Blue milk"
I just saw the Empire reaction video today and then watched this one too. Wholesome reaction videos! I subbed instantly. You both are great!
Thank you so much for your support! ☺️❤️
Sadly

Just my opinion, but a young Anikin spirit force was wrong. It confuses everyone who watches this movie. Ppl (and Lucas) can make all the excuses they want, but they're just excuses.
That part I never got either
@@vicolin6126 actually, that's not a bad idea. I could accept that
@@vicolin6126 Nah, he was already in the light and became a Jedi once again, before he died, at the moment he brought balance to the Force by killing the Emperor and leaving the Dark Side.
I love her purely joyful reaction to Leia taking off the bounty hunter helmet.
Thank you so much! That was such a moment! 🥰

Even watching scenes brings me back to the genius the OT was, i had to grab a box of tissues. ROTJ is also my personal fave because of Anakin's redemption. That is after all, the overall story of Star Wars...Anakin.
46:00 Obiwan and Yoda are looking at ghost Anakin like "WAIT, Why are YOU looking like your younger self while we still look old?"
I was just at the rigth age where ROTJ was the first movie I decided to go see with friends.
Haha thanks!
