Good effort. Mahoney recommends walnut oil left for 24 hrs. It actually hardens with this time frame. He also sells a walnut wax that goes over the initial finish. I have used both and they are good products. Best of new year.
Thanks! Yea, I’ve come close on a few and have a twice turned walnut bowl I’m still scratching my head on what to do with. I haven’t turned it to finish it yet, but the bottom acts as a diaphragm it’s so thin.
Yup! Have a piano bowl that I’m avoiding finishing since the casting had a bad reaction. I’ve got 2 “junk bowls” (left over resin scraps) and tons of stuff that needs to be cast. Nice chunk of red dye stabilized buckeye burl I need to cast also
Great bowl. Happy New Year. I recently had a similar experience bur much larger than a pin hole. I plan to cut in half and use it as the barn of a manger scene.
Haha thanks! Welll….. what had happen was….. Na this was green turned when I was getting into wood turning and didn’t know any better about fruit wood twisting so much due to its high moisture content.
You’re a likable guy. Enjoying your channel so far. 😬
Beautiful bowl.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Great save. Happy new year and thanks for sharping your great videos with us.
Thanks Jack! Hopefully this new year will allow for more shop time. I’ve got a folder of ideas waiting to done. Happy New Years to you as well!

That’s what I do. I’ll let the oil soak then cure for a day. Next day is the oil/wax mix. Great stuff, little thick but great stuff!
Lovely timber and good result. Pity about the hole. We've all done it!

Lot of funnels lately, I think everyone is getting a little cocky. LOL, just kidding. Great looking bowl.
