This piece was commissioned for $6,000, and it took an estimated 60 hours of work over 2 months to complete. Much of that time was dedicated to a meticulous finishing process, in order to get a virtually flawless surface along with the durability of a waterproof resin finish. For me, commissions of this magnitude are few and far between, so it means a great deal when you, my wonderful viewers, engage with and share my videos. You are the stabilizing force that saturates this gnarly, rotting burl of a channel. Without you, my videos are likely to shatter into little pieces on the floor like a stress-fractured end-grain cookie at 500 rpm.
If you enjoy this content, please consider Liking this video and Subscribing, and make sure you have that Bell icon turned on so you get notified when I upload new videos. I also read every Comment, and I respond to as many of them as I can! Sharing my videos with your friends also really helps keep this channel afloat and enables my growing family's addiction to food!

As a complete stranger to woodturning, this is breathtaking. What an absolute work of art.
Thank you Luke!
Thanks for not adding distracting music or unnecessary chatter, just text information whenever necessary. Well done. Beautiful piece!
@@kathleenberhalter3678 Thanks Kathleen, I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Absolutely stunning

Beautiful!!!❤️😎👍👍👍

This is absolutely lovely. I think it belongs in a museum where a lot of people can admire it.
I truly love to watch your videos.
Thank you very much!
Just amazing to watch…..can l buy it?
very meticulous
What a marvel! This is everything I love about woodturning videos: as much wood preserved as possible, and the resort to resin only when inevitable to make it even more beautiful. I was overjoyed to see that a new David Adamsen video had dropped, and I sure am not disappointed!
The fluctuations in colors are absolutely gorgeous! Outstanding craftsmanship sir! 👍
Thank you very much!
After years of watching woodworking videos. This is the most beautiful piece I have seen to date. I can't imagine anything being more beautiful.
Wow, thank you!
Hear, hear !! ❤❤❤❤

This is the very first time I have ever seen your work David ! 👌🏻 Incredible! Such a nice looking piece in every regard, immaculate job on that ! It looks stunning 😮 I will definitely check out your channel to see more 😊.
Every choice you made with this piece was perfect. It belongs in a museum.
Thank you so much!
tallulah, what..? A work on plastic belongs in a museum?
I have no idea what this costs, but it's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my entire life. I know I can't afford it but seeing made makes me feel like I own some piece of it.
The transformation of this piece was stunning. You have a wonderful gift sir!
Thank you very much!
Have a huge 100+ year old almost perfectly round burl on a tree stump. I now see it in a different light!. Absolutely beautiful work. Thank You from Sturgis, SD
Very cool!
I would hit the like button at least 1000 more times! That is the most beautiful woodturning piece I’ve ever seen! I LOVE it! ❤
Thank you so much, Beverly!
Simply great! Words cannot describe the beauty of that beautiful work, it looks like an ancient Greek amphora, it simply looks great. You can sell it for a huge amount of money or you can keep it for your self, as one of the best works of yourself that you can be proud of.
Thanks very much!
Always a great day when another David Adamsen video drops. I'm not usually a fan of the epoxy final finish but, as usual, you've done it right and sanded it to perfection. It's the attention to all the little details that makes your videos so amazing. Thanks!
Thanks very much, I appreciate that!
Wow that's amazing thanks for sharing A WORK OF ART FOR SURE
OUTSTANDING, David!!!! I still miss your intros of beautiful scenery that you once put into your videos. That gave a lot of class to your great wood turning videos.
I hope you and your bride are doing well these days!!!!
Thanks John! Yeah I kinda miss those intros too, but they were much more work than I can justify for the result tbh…
Cheers from my growing family to yours!
An amazing and stunning piece. It's wonderful to see you take a piece of dried out burle and turn it inow a stunning piece of art. Awesome job David!!
Thank you very much!
😁 This "Desert Landscape Vase" reminds me of the images seen from the International Space Station. I haven't done any real wood turning work since the early 1970's, but the soothing sound of tool on wood reminds me of the tranquility enjoyed while smelling the aroma of the wood. There was another TH-cam woodturner I used to watch; then he started "talking" through the video. That ruined the relaxation of watching the emerging of the finished product. I feel so at ease after these videos because it reminds me of the harmony of artistic creativity. Thank you!
Thank you James! I really appreciate you watching and commenting!
Wow!!! That's absolutely stunning. I love the colours in the wood, never know Cherry was so gorgeous. ❤❤😊😊
Thank you so much, Karen!
Absolutely incredible!! That is perfect.
Thanks Chris!
He does it again! Simply stunning!
Thank you, Kat!
Unbelievably stunning David and for the two little fellows you found 🐛 they must have been tremendously dizzy 😂

You said this was your most expensive piece ? What are we talking here ? Monetarily or workmanship ? Cause your artistry is beyond mention . Thank you for such a good viewing
Thanks I appreciate that.
Lovely piece. Can you tell how much you ant for it and also what are the sparkles? Is it in the clear resin?
Beautiful
Craftsman
Were you able to sell it for what you wanted or did you have to come down on your price? It is a very beautiful piece and I just out of curiosity am dying to know what you were asking for it???
Hey David, as usual you have made a beautiful piece. Great job.
David, I was absolutely transfixed by the meticulous process. I thought it was gorgeous in its natural state at the very beginning of the video, but when it was finished it was just stunning and the most beautiful thing of its kind that I’ve ever seen. Bravo!
Wow, thank you!
Stunning piece, David! That's a work of art! 😃
Truly amazing!!!

I think I just watched my first Masterpiece be created and I'm only 61! Stunning craftsmanship and a finish that left me speechless. Wish I could see it in person.
This is so lovely. The character of the cherry is beautifully highlighted. What a joy to see. 😍😍

STUNNING!!!!
Thanks for sharing!!!!
Please please please, keep up the amazing work!!!
Mugs😊
Thank you very much!
I was kinda hoping the worm would be suspended in amber and on display.
Pretty sure the air pressure and the heat from the resin did it in…
@@DavidAdamsen @architypeone8646 was hoping to create a Jurassic Park with the worm.
I've got a dining table with a redback spider in it! Looks awesome
@@ryana8174 Very Cool! But, eeeeewwwwwwww 😄
OMG! This vase is amazing and breathtakingly beautiful! I love Richard Raffan's channel. He creates amazing things too with his knowledge and experience. You on the other hand use the modern technology a bit fool proof methods like laser and horizontal guide etc. I love your content too. These clever solutions make possible to create masterpieces like this.
Sorry for my English, Greetings from Hungary
Thank you so much!
The only thing that would make your videos better would be more videos! I look forward to every new one you put out because I know they will be stunning. You never disappoint. Absolutely beautiful. 💗
Thank you! More vids to come! Wish i could get them out faster but they do take time.
@@DavidAdamsen Thank you. Good to hear.
I was mesmerized; could not look away. Your vid came up in my “new” feed, and I’m so glad it did. What a gorgeous result! Like Michelangelo chipping away everything that was not part of the sculpture, you freed the spirit, beauty, and grace of the wood within.
Thank you for filling my “heart for art” today. Liked and subscribed, so happy to have found you!
Oh my David, this piece is absolutly breathtaking.
Thank you!
Loved watching you making this amazingly beautiful piece. My husband loved working with wood as well as my 3 sons but only one continued till we lost him to a cardiac arrest at 35, they would have loved your channel, best of luck 🌟
Spectacular! Thanks for sharing, David!
Many thanks!
Elegant. Classy. Gorgeous. Well done, David. 🧐

Thanks for watching, James!
I have just officially subscribed.
You are the Michelangelo of wood turning! That beautiful planter was always in that burl, it just took you to find it. Bravo!! ❤
Cheers, I appreciate that!
great turning with some awesome tools...
Thanks!
I admire the turning of wood by master woodturners and you are one of them. Watching All the steps from Start to Finish is just Awesome! Thank you for sharing, David.
This is what happens when you have all the gear and all the idea. Truly stunning piece.👍🏴
Just when I thought you've done your best, you make this beautiful masterpiece. It is just stunning. Love the cherry wood and the combination of those colors. You've out done yourself. Keep on creating and sharing !
Thank you very much!
Must have said wow a dozen times watching this...fantastic.
Glad you enjoyed it!!
This one is stunning… just STUNNING! I love the contrast between the burl and the resin with the glitter (?).
Absolutely gorgeous. You Sir have an amazing talent. Thank you for sharing your videos.
Thanks Jeff!
This is really beautiful. It reminds me of the television productions I watched, fascinated by the New Yankee Workshop as Norm Abrahams produced modern interpretations of unique antiques of hundreds of years ago, using electric tools on pieces of furniture that had taken the original artisans using only hand tools of hand made masterpieces requiring weeks, even months of time to produce. I thought that I would never see such beauty again after he retired. Thank you.
Stunning work, sir, this is one of the most beautiful pieces I've ever seen from any woodworker anywhere, it's the perfect balance.
Wow, thank you!
Wow just beautiful David. You are a real artist. I am simply lost for words. Amazing nice job. 😊
I wasn’t too sure about as the video opened, but it came out beautiful! An art piece for sure.
Thanks so much, Doug!
Absolutely stunning! I'm just in awe of this transformation into a breathtaking vase!
Thank you so much!
The epoxy finish looks flawless and the entire piece is beautiful thank you for sharing
Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much David, that is absolutely and utterly heartbreakingly beautiful and it a total work of art. 😮
insurgents! wow. Backward filming - fun! Slope of the neck - perfection. Seeing all the equipment and skill to hollow it out - such amazing technology and talent! And the colors were mesmerizing...I could watch your work (creating and editing) all day long. Still remember when you fell out of a tree, so glad you are still posting. Thank you! (PS What did the blow torch do?)
Thanks so much! I really appreciate you watching. The torch is to burn off any residual moisture before the finish is applied, and it also helps remove any bubbles in the finish while also encouraging it to self-level.
Thanks for this, very interesting and I can't wait to see some of those pieces as finished turnings.
Absolutely gorgeous!
I kept thinking about the tree itself and how many years of storm and sun and birds and bugs had kept it company and then it was no more . But then you come along and make it into a most beautiful thing that will be around for hundreds of years and people will look at it and admire it and love it ! Well done !!!😃
Such beautiful work. You always bring out the best in whatever you're working on.
Thank you very much!
Spectacular piece. And very engrossing watching how it all comes together. Thank you so much for making and posting this video as well.
Good morning 🌅, That looked a bit grubby 🐛😂, great contrast colours in Rein, A beautiful piece of art, thank you for sharing your art work, From France,
Thanks for watching!
Stunning is an underrated response; I'm speechless with the incredible journey you've brought this stump through! It's quality is likely unsurpassed and the joy of making it, must be very satisfying! Excellence is in every inch of this piece. Congratulations
I have no idea how many hours in total went into this piece, many I suspect, but the result is worth every single one of them.
Don’t know if your question was answered, but in the notes it tells the story (where is says…more). It was commissioned for $6k and took him 60 hours of work over a two month period. Most of the time was spent on sanding and ultimately the final finish! Been watching David since he started this channel and what a great wood turner he is!
Thanks Barry!
So beautiful in every way. Thank you for sharing this with us.😊
I wish I could like more than just one time. I never get enough of your work ❤❤❤
Thanks Patricia!
Incredible photography views as well as beautiful piece. The true eye of an artist at work for all processes.

What a beautiful work of art! I have never been brought to tears over such a fine piece worked with such care and attention to every detail. Every striation, knot and hue of the wood is bathed in a beautiful light. Whatever this costs is irrelevant. It's a piece for the ages. Museum worthy!
Wow, thank you!
Amazing work.
Thanks!
Beautiful! Such an excellent choice in epoxy colors and pouring order. The finished work actually looks like it is all wood from a distance, and up close, these is depth in the epoxy layers. I love it!👍👍
60 hours? It took 17 minutes and 53 seconds!!!
Congrats on the great commission and the absolutely stunning level of work. Did your client supply the wood?
Thank you! No this particular piece was locally salvaged by a friend of mine.
Great skill with the right kit as well. An over worked word but appropriate -
A Fabulous result. Just thee ent and no distractions. Thank you. Phil 👍🇬🇧
Your client definitely got his or her money's worth! You always do such beautiful work.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing David. Not impressed by many though very impressed by your work. You attention to detail and love for your craft are evident in your work.
Another wood artist that truly recognizes you.

Sir … you are worth $100/hr … your work speaks for itself!!! It has since I have watched you … maybe only a couple years now … but I have watched them all & especially loved the video when you upgraded your Lathe with the shipment of wood from a fellow Maine-iac!!! Just kidding, people from Florida are Floridians … up here in Alaska we are Alaskans … Im unsure how your state extends the name to its residents. You are an amazing wood turner … as are Jack Mack & Andy Phillip … yours & their turning talents & photography talents are one & the same … HIGH QUALITY!!! So worth whatever time you choose to give us in your videos!!! The only thing that you all three do NOT do is show us who you are. Such a tease, as I feel that you all are as beautiful as your work!!!
Regardless, I am thankful that you healed after your hunting accident & was able to come back to turning … you would have been a great loss to us all. I am also very happy for you & your wife for your healthy new son. God has blessed you greatly. I look forward to every one of your future videos!!!
Thanks for such a wonderful comment. I appreciate that!
Absolutely stunning. Thank you for sharing
Outstanding work

From a piece of wood that looked like an alien landscape to a stunning vase. Beautiful work David
Thank you!
Beautiful ❤

That is simply CRAZY!
His ability to “see” what was hiding in that piece of raw wood and his ability to “ set it free…” truly a Gift from God!
Thank you sir
Thanks very much! All glory to God!
@@DavidAdamsenamen sir! Praise Him
With the way the vase is shaped it really reminds me of the pottery found from Ancient Greece! This deserves to be in a museum with them.
Thanks so much! Ancient pottery is some of the best inspiration.
As someone with a PhD in classics, I totally agree with this comparison, and you did it proud!
I totally agree simply stunning and you created it with such ease I was mesmerized 😊belongs in a museum for sure! Have you had any offers David?
Yet another piece of classic art..David, man, your talents really shine through from this piece..absolutely stunning. 🤯 🙂👍
