Thanks for your dedication, friend. Your work is greatly appreciated! You set good bitrate for 1080p screen, and the most important part for the device itself is "Average decoding time" which is 4 ms. Very good time indeed. For example on the same settings Logitech G Clouds takes 10 ms of decoding time. Network latency is important part too, but can't assess it in your crowdy environment. Great job!
Hell yeah this is exactlywhat i was looking forward to, playing some RPGs and cozy games on my couch. My purple color still hasnt shipped but i cant wait!
This is exactly what I was looking for! I just installed moonlight on the rp4pro two nights ago and have been enjoying it, but with the slightly bigger screen it looks a lot better!
Just wanted to stop by and say that I'm so glad I found your channel through my research on the RP5! Your videos are super informative, nice to listen to, audio quality is very professional, and just overall love the attention to detail. You make me feel like my time is valuable and you're doing your best to give us lots of unique perspectives! Speaking of which, I was wondering if you would mind letting me know if this device warms up a lot in the back? I have a rare disease that makes my hands swell from heat, and would love to know how it feels to you? If it doesn't warm up much, this will definitely be a buy from me after watching your other videos. In any case, keep up the awesome work, and have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, it's really made my day! Could I ask where you found my channel? I'm sorry to hear about your disease. When playing intensive games or when blocking the exhaust vents, the back of the device definitely does get hot. In my testing I've found that because of where the vents are positioned, I don't actually feel the heat with my hands while I'm holding the device. I'm also not even using the internal fan because the heat isn't too problematic. I really hope it'll be good for you, too!
@@RyanRetro1 Thank you so much for the quick reply! And you're very welcome, I'm so glad I could make your day! I found your channel just by doing a basic search for "retroid pocket 5", and your videos were some of the ones listed by TH-cam. I'm so happy it did recommend them! You're showing things that the other major folks aren't, like this video right here which was something I was definitely wondering about. Oh! If you're trying to grow your channel, you might want to consider including other variations of Retroid Pocket 5 in your description to help others find your videos. Examples might be "RP5", "Retroid 5", "Pocket 5", and things like that. By varying the way you refer to the device, it can catch more user searches. I'm a web developer and do a lot with SEO and trying to get better search page results, so I hope that maybe helps bring more folks to you! Thank you a ton for the great info on the heat. Just knowing that my hands will be kept away from the heat is perfect! I literally had the RP5 in my cart, the gamecube version because it reminds me of my first console the gameboy advance haha, and was waiting for your reply. It's now ordered, and I'm so excited! Thanks again for all of the awesome information! You seem like an awesome person in general, and I look forward to seeing what you keep creating and hopefully seeing your channel grow!
Thank you so much! I am really poor with SEO so any tips would always be greatly appreciated! I'll include the other variants of the name in the descriptions from now on. I hope you enjoy the device! I'm going to continue uploading more content about it every day so there will be lots you can see while you wait for it to ship. I also had an indigo gameboy advance so I was really tempted by the purple too! If I ever bought a second one in the future for whatever reason, I'd definitely go for the purple!
Thank you! I would definitely love to do that. I have a Windows/Linux dual boot on my Steam Deck so I'd love to have an Android/Linux dual boot on the Retroid Pocket 5.
So I can stream my PC on to RP5, connect it via HDMI on my living room TV, hook up a bluetooth controller and game on? The only thing I'm lost at is the quality of network sharing because my PC is connected via cable. Is it better to purchase a WiFi adapter for Desktop PC or use the Zerotier software?
You should be able to, yes! I'll include that in an upcoming test. The PC I used in this video was connected by a cable and the ZeroTier software is completely free so I'd suggest trying that out before buying anything else.
Nice work! Can you tell if the screen is HDR capable? I was surprised to find the mini could watch TH-cam videos in HDR. If the 5 can as well it may be my endgame handheld.
It's probably the only one thing about the device I'd change to be honest. I've always been a fan of the analog stick being on top. It's the main reason I used to choose Xbox over Playstation. It's not causing me any discomfort but I'd definitely be happier if it was at the top.
Can you treat this like your phone and put it in your pockets without any protection? E.g. I don't bring around my switch oled and switch lite as I have to baby it around with a bulky case.
So far I've just been carrying it in a small messenger bag without protection. I did see someone with a completely smashed RP Mini because that device and the RP5 both have a glass front, so I'd try to be quite careful with it if possible. This one might be a bit hard to put in your pocket because of the larger ergonomic grips compared to a flat Switch. I'd probably try to be at least a little careful when bringing this. That said, it's coming with me everywhere from now!
@@RyanRetro1 Our phones are made of glass as well, could you try take it out without any cases? Shame really, I hate carrying bags just for retro consoles.
Oh thanks for letting me know. I will say I went from never having heard of Zerotier to having it fully setup in less than 10 minutes so it was also very easy.
This testing turned into a whole little blog I love it lol😂
It really did! Haha
Loving the daily videos Ryan, these are so helpful
Thank you for saying so! I'm glad you're liking them! I've got two new videos planned right now that both have some helpful tips in them:)
@ Nice one, cheers mate :)
really loved this video honestly and you deserve so much more attention than you have already gotten. Please keep making these videos
Thank you so much! I will keep going
What a saga. Thanks for doing this. I think the takeaway is that as long as the host computer can run it well, playing on the RP5 will be a good time.
you've been doing great man a blessing to the retroid community
Thanks so much!

You're welcome! Everything looked fantastic on the RP5 for sure. No latency or choppiness to speak of at all.
Thank god someone is testing the only way I'll use this
Fk yeah i needed someone to test it since its basically the only thing i will use it for
Hell yeah this is exactlywhat i was looking forward to, playing some RPGs and cozy games on my couch. My purple color still hasnt shipped but i cant wait!
That's going to be the theme for an upcoming video! Hope you enjoy your RP5
Appreciate the time, again, testing and content that is not being shown anywhere else. 🍻🤘🏼🔥
You're welcome! I've got a lot more content coming.
Thank you for these videos man, they are appreciated.
You're welcome!
you've been making great videos man. it's cool watching the channel grow too. looking forward to more content
Thank you so much! I'm really glad to hear that.
Thanks for the testing! Can’t wait for the next vid! Keep it up!
Thank you so much!

Seems great. Can't wait for the linux videos!
I'm so excited for Linux!
Banger device. Indigo one looks so good I think I need to buy one.
It does! I initially wanted to buy that one too.
Thanks 4 your efforts.
You're welcome!
great work dude
Thank you so much
I was subscriber 1000 GG
Thank you so much for subscribing!
Nice to meet you.
I cant wait to play xbox cloud game on rp5
From korean living in italy
Nice to meet you too 만나서 반갑습니다. I'm sure you will love it! I should try it too soon
Thank you for your efforts, would you be doing a dual boot test for the rp5?
Thank you! I would definitely love to do that. I have a Windows/Linux dual boot on my Steam Deck so I'd love to have an Android/Linux dual boot on the Retroid Pocket 5.
Oh by the way, how were it for you, was it fun to play via moonlight? Was it comfortable to use RP5 for modern games?
Was the stick usage good?
It was great! I'd be very happy to play this way.

Good question! I haven't tried it yet. I'll test it
Have you tried parsec? I wonder how well that would work too, especially remotely.
I haven't yet. I am considering trying it!
is pc ports working on this via linux? that would be an awesome video. keep them coming
I haven't tried Linux yet but I'm extremely excited to do so!
How are the ergonomics with the left stick being at the bottom? Did you feel any discomfort while streaming shooters?

Lets see winlator emulation! I specifically wanna see fallout new vegas 👀
I posted a video of Winlator a few days ago 😊
What switch emulator do you recommend?
Can you treat this like your phone and put it in your pockets without any protection?

Shame really, I hate carrying bags just for retro consoles.
why not winlator? its perfect for emulating PC game on mobile (maybe for android only)
I've uploaded a video trying Winlator on this channel
will this work on rp mini?
When the RP Mini gets the update to Android 13 these devices are basically identical (maybe except a difference in RAM) so yes it definitely should!
Parsec all the way!
I should give Parsec a try
@@RyanRetro1 yea bro!
bro test 3ds and nds, also android games especially cod mobile, gta games etc. thats what we wanna see.
I'm planning an Android game showcase in the next 2 days. Also, thank you for the support!
If you have considered doing it again, steam link is i thik easier to setup
That's a good idea. I'll try that next time I go to the PC Bang
Tailscale is easier to setup than zerotier.
Oh thanks for letting me know. I will say I went from never having heard of Zerotier to having it fully setup in less than 10 minutes so it was also very easy.
