I'm one of those rare people who like both marvel and dc
you're not the only one
Same
Same both Marvel and DC are awesome.
your not alone
same here
Remember when Frank Miller wasn't crazy and delivered awesome stories in DC and Marvel?
Returns, or are you talking about Strikes Again
laz kar *shivers*
laz kar Enough! There are children here, and people who will google it like that guy.
*Points through the PC screen of a guy who just opened a new tab*
laz kar He might've been the world's greatest Graphic Novel author if he died before the 90s
laz kar BvS sucked because it was trying to be the empire state building without putting in complete floors. You can see where the intentions were, and it might have been good if they actually laid out a better foundation (solo Batman film and a MoS sequel to take out those parts that prevented actual tension to develop between Batman and Superman). However, I can see Miller sneaking into Goyer and Snyder's trailers and telling them what to do.
Disappointed that God Loves, Man Kills isn't on there.
Amen
or Days of Future Past.
thank you! finished the video and i was like "no god loves, man kills?" that book can be used in a literature class!
yeah and that was an actual graphic novel unlike civil war which was released over mutiple comic book issues.... DO YOUR RESEARCH WATCHMOJO!
No kidding. This list is invalid.
Where's Kraven's Last Hunt? That story is amazing.
And Days of Futures Past and Infinity Gauntlet
Days of Future past was only a 2 issue story but a good story nonetheless.
Great storyline also
Silver surfer requiem? That was amazing
And alias !
I prefer more DC. But man Old Man Logan and Daredevil: Born Again are amazing!
I will admit that, generally speaking, DC does better graphic novels than Marvel. And their animated content is far superior to Marvel's.
DC sucks at everything else though.
+ManiaMac1613 How about video games? Batman Arkham games are the BEST superhero video games.
+ManiaMac1613 DC TV shows are good too just nowhere near as good as Daredevil or Jessica Jones
+zack ok Yeah true I suppose
old man Logan was so great why did they ruin it with putting wolverine in the multiverse
Do the same thing with dc graphic novels
Probably tomorrow
I think they did.
just watch best graphic novel off all time i know it will satisfy you.
+julian lachica ok
+L.T. Haunter they didn't
Old Man Logan is amazing!!
No you're amazing.
I'd like to read it.
When I was a kid I was a HUGE Wolverine fan (Mystique and Daredevil, too)... and then Wolverine: Origins came out, and I threw the book across the room.
But maybe now I could go back into comic books with a more open mind.
Candice ecidnaC Read it, the story and art is awesome
+1504Shawn agreed. its my favorite Marvel story. love Mark Millar.
Candice ecidnaC
out of curiosity was it the short wolverine miniseries called "origins" or the serialized monthly title "wolverine; origins." that you had a problem with.
I thought the first one was really good, beautiful artwork, and a tragic character driven story that didn't read anything like a superhero comic. I didn't even realize it was about wolverine until young James popped his claws at the end of issue 3.
the other was was a pile of shit that looked like it was inked by Rob Liefield and had a a twisted convoluted plot that made very little sense and retconed the shit out of half the marvel universe.
what about Harambe's Final Hunt?
+hamburger fuck you lil bitch. can't even put your real face on your channel. you scared little bitch.
*takes dick out*
+avataraang360 Says the guy with the fucking basic bitch dog filter on
+avataraang360 I wouldn't be proud about that childish profile picture.
He's dc dumbass
House of m ????? World war hulk ????
Infinity Gauntlet and DOFP
House of M is pretty mediocre.
+Luke Jacobs yep
None of those are graphic novels
Or maybe something that's actually good.
'Daredevil' Season 1 and 2 were truly a masterpiece... I don't think I will see another series like that in my lifetime.
My list is...
1. Old man Logan
2. Daredevil from again
3. Rage of Ultron
4. Iron man demon in the bottle
5. Civil war
Daredevil: Born Again was incredible and an absolute must if you're even a casual fan of the character
"Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon" is a fabulous book. Excellent story-telling and such unique artwork. I think it should have been somewhere on this list. Though I do agree with a lot of these other picks.
The Dark Phoenix Saga only gets an honorable mention and Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, the Mutant Massacre, Kraven's Last Hunt, and Demon in a Bottle don't even make the list? This list was definitely put together by a Millennial. Hell, Planet Hulk didn't even make the list and it was, without a doubt, not just one of the best Marvel stories of the last 20 years, but one of the best comic book stories, period.
I think this list failed to understand what a graphic novel is
Really, planet of the hulk? That arc really sucked.
I forgot about Kravens Last Hunt, and your right about Secret Wars.
Secret Wars made me a collector (original mini series) and made me a Dr. Doom fan - great story.
llongone2 Yeah, I think the current crop of comic book writers have A-D-D. It's really hard to find really good storytelling these days. It's like every 2 years theirs some kind of "reboot" of a series.
I've been waiting for this one for a while now!
wow 12M? this channel has gone big, good job :)
GOD LOVES MAN KILLS doesn't merit even so much as an honorable mention?!?
Marvel Graphic Novel #4 (New Mutants) and #5 (X-men: God Loves, Man Kills) are some of my favorites not listed!!!
Dark Phoenix, Marvels, World War Hulk, Kraven's Last Hunt, Born Again, Civil War, Age of Apocalypse, Spiderman Blue... I could name them forever, there are tons of masterpieces in Marvel's catalogue.
Days of Future Past is not even an honorable mention. Alright...
Not a graphic novel. It is a two-part story during Chris Claremont's run on X-Men/Uncanny X-Men.
@@Dargone007 Then why is Phoenix Saga a honourable mention lol
My favorites are Dark Phoenix Saga and Days of Future Past
spiderman: blue
We need another one of these, there is so many other great marvel graphic novels
You should put some of new marvel's stuffs (really good stuff), like: Matt Fraction's Hawkeye, Jason Aaron's Thor, TomKing's Vision...
or old stuffs like Garth Ennins' Punisher.
I think Dark Phoenix should be more then an honorable mention
Ikr
Marvels better be number 1.
Why?
It's #2
No issue with what the Number 1 choice is on this list. May not be the biggest Daredevil fan around, but Born Again was/is the definitive Daredevil story.
+reaverofsouls I'm with you there.
Number 1 deserves its spot. I think it's the best story Frank Miller ever wrote in his career.
while I haven't read born again yet, Marvels was literally an amazing graphic novel, fantastic art, a really down to earth story, morals being questioned, I just adore it!
this was awesome! add spiderman vs wolverine GN ;)
old man Logan was the best
Yeah it was
That was the most violent marvel story I've ever read
Punisher MAX - The Slavers or Marvel Universe Vs. Wolverine and the Punisher.
Yes
fury Max were also good.
None of those are graphic novels
I can't wait to see Top 10 DC Graphic Novels. :D
Kraven's last hunt is the best story ever made in Marvel universum.
Where is days of future past?????
Am I the only one here who likes the Gray Hulk better than the Green Hulk?
I guess you are.
Yes
No offence but grey Hulk isn't exactly popular
yep
Depends on the writer.
I loved Infinity Gauntlet. Even though it was a bit overcrowded, it felt necessary and I was hooked on the story. The Punisher Collection by Garth Ennis is awesome too, although that's under Max not Marvel.
WAIT,,.....WHAT???!! captain America winter soldier, Honorable mention, should be under top 5!! although, I am not angry with you mojo. you never disappoint, keep doing these comic VIDeos love em. my top 5 marvel graphic novels
1 daredevil born again
2 captain America the winter soldier
3 the ultimates
4 hawkeye by Matt fraction
5 daredevil by bendis and maleev
God love man kills
The ones he forgot to mention and is the ultimate reason as to why this list sucks is:
Planet Hulk
World War Hulk
X-Men: Days of Future Past
Wolverine: Weapon X
Wolverine Origins
Infinity Gauntlet
X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills
Mega MovieZ demon in a bottle
mojo making good videos again thank god
My suggestion for a list: Top 10 Indie Video Game Blunders.
really man not even 1 spider man story cmon
and you included captain marvel really
the clone saga is the best story though
ha
It's unfortunate that DC has the better source material, but Marvel has the better execution on film....sigh
They both are awesome in their own way. DC's more golden age and unrealistically rich in comics while Marvel is more realistic.
Let's be honest, only Batman and Daredevil are realistic.
Narwhal as are punisher, red hood, nightwing, nick fury, tim drake and black widow.
Those are just 2 examples. Obviously there's more than what you and I just said.
Marvel has more better TV shows, except for AoSHIELD, Arrow used to be good but DC still has the flash and preacher, DC also has Injustice which is better than a lot of Marvel games.
perfect vid
World War Hulk is one of my favorite stories top 3, should've been on this list
DC has better graphic novels.
So keep them for yourself, cuase it feel like you try to force people to like what you like.
tell me if i wrong.
Diwakar Mathur yeah bruh this a marvel vid an you saying D.C. Is better
Marvel has better graphic novels
God Loves, Man Kills.
Astonishing X-Men, Daredevil: Born Again, Welcome Back Frank, Kraven's Last Hunt and Ultron Unlimited are my favs
annihilation was one of my favorites and planet/ world war hulk
I'm early, lemme make a joke
Poodle Corp
what about house of m
That's not a graphic novel dude
+Frselrey Garcia fuck my bad
Juan Hernandez don't worry, seems like watchmojo doesn't know what a graphic novel is either
+Frselrey Garcia so what is house of m if it's not a graphic novel
Juan Hernandez an event, regular comics that share a name and we're released one by one each moth
Just read "Punisher Born" and I loved it.
damnnn soo many kool stories!!!! gotta start collecting
Where's Inifinty Gauntlet
And DOFP
+Matt Murdock that's a story line.
+Matt Murdock DOFP was like only 1-2 issues
Just because Infinity Ass is popular doesn't mean is one of the best...
Infinity isn't a graphic novel
Where is God Loves Man Kills, come on watch Mojo.
Silver Surfer The Rebirth Of Thanos is the story of how Thanos grabbed the Infinity Gems to make the Infinity Gauntlet. Squadron Supreme The Utopian Program is a story where heroes feel that the revolving door of criminality needs to end so they create a means to permanently change their nature. Triumph and Torment Doctor Strange and Doctor Doom attempt to free Doom's Mother from Hell.
Daredevil is a painfully underrated superhero that should be admired as an A list character. However, where the hell is Planet Hulk????
I know this is going to start a flame war, but Top 10 Reasons Android is Better
Android is way better.
Watchmojo doesn't do opinion/biased based top 10s.
+░KenLinx░ They only do biased choices.
Root Beer I meant that they don't give the notion that something is better than, or superior to, another.
Ah.
DC have a lot better graphic novels.
k
k
Well done now gimme ur ring
Does DC have any graphic novels produced by Marvel?
+JackDManheim Yes
Spiderman BLUE, Spiderman Reign, Planet Hulk, so many great books not mentioned
Wolverine: Enemy of the State and Spider-Man: Kraven's Last Hunt should have been in this.
Jack Alan
I agree.
I was so disappointed with Oldman Logan. Not deep enough, too short and too (unnecessary) violence.
It's Wolverine, it's supposed to be violent, more violence the better, in my opinion
go watch sesame street you baby
Dc have better graphic novels
Yeah but marvel ones are seriously underrated
+Pizza Pirate Totally agree
like sand man cx
that wouldn't be fair. DC Vertigo should have its own list.
all I have to say is...BECAUSE IM BATMAN!
Planet Hulk and World War Hulk is my favorite story arc so far in Marvel.Hulk was always considered to be the most powerful hero in all of Marvel and this story proves this point with Hulk defeating the X-men,the Fantastic Four, the Avengers, the Inhumans and all the rest of Marvel's heroes by himself. This story shows Hulk in his more villanus role but its writen in such way that you understand, even sympathise, the Hulk and even find hes actions somewhat justifiabble.I personaly did not view Hulk as a villan in this story,I viewed him as a tragic victim of missunderstanding and misstreatment, and there is just something about tragic characters that make them so likeabble.
With the large selection of marvel comics I honestly can't understand how this list is possible
DC is better
We know
Don't be a fanboy both Marvel and DC are awesome.
+AnaheimDucks93 I'm not a fanboy it's just opinion
+andrewmccann75 Fine it's your opinion but don't come on to a marvel video and say DC is better.
+AnaheimDucks93 fair enough
what's the name of the background song??
I was hoping to see "God Loves, Man Kills" at some point
Days of Future Past, Planet Hulk, World War Hulk, Infinity Gauntlet, Dark Phoenix, Thanos Quest, Kraven's Last Hunt
I loved reading the old man Logan series, it was like a child of wolverine and mad max fury road
Wow this is so ironic because I'm going to ComicCon soon!
what is the different between graphic novel and comic book
I think The Death Of Ultimate Spider-Man was a great arc in Marvel Comics
Most of them arent Graphic Novels ,they are Trade Paperbacks!
I love Civil War!! Been checking out the sequel Civil War II!! Plus Old Man Logan!! xD
i started reading comics because of "the other" story arc of spiderman. i really feel like it until "one more day" is a huge story arc.
I'm disappointed that none of the Immortal Iron Fist sets were here. There is some great, great content.
Am I the only one who doesn't remember subscribing to WatchMojo?
Kraven's last hunt!
daredevil 226-231 or 2 (born again) has to be one of my alltime favorite storylines...wish they could turn that into a movie
didn't realize that daredevil: the man without fear came out in 2003...considering I owned that exact edition in late 1999 (purchased as a back issue no less). Cool! I can time travel
I say that this list was sort of confusing to me for some odd reason, but I also believe that several other Marvel graphic novels were missing from this list. Well, I'm sure that they will appear in the next listing.
Great top. In civil war-secret wars ;^).
I think Kravens last Hunt is Marvel's best story
Born again was actually first released in 1986 !
When people say you gotta read old man logan, which comics are they talking about?
+Watchmojo, will we seeing a "top 10 DC Comics graphic novels" list soon?
Just 2 or 3 are indeed graphic novels, most of the stories listed are TPBs of strory arcs or crossovers.
Nice
X-Men: Battle of The Atom by Brian Micheal Bendis is one of the most fun yet also emotional stories Ive seen any Marvel writer produce. The guy clearly had both an incredible knowledge of the history of the original X-Men stories and those characters in that time an place- as well as the modern stuff and what modern fans wanted. The story is about Hank McCoy bringing the original teenage X-Men forward in time to confront a modern day- adult cyclops after he has killed Xavier during a possession by the phoenix and subsequently become a mutant extremist and divided the mutant community.
The book deals with Jean Grey discovering her rise as the phoenix and her fall as the dark phoenix because one of the new schools competing for the hearts and minds of a new generation of mutants is named for her memory. She and the original Cyclops are horrified with these dark versions of their future and become determined to fix it or to at least remain in the present day and not allow their destiny to go down that road. Thats just a small piece but its also got Wolverine trying to follow in Xaviers shoes and lead a school as a new Dean, it has romance and comedy and some deep stuff about choices and becoming the thing you hate or staying true to your beliefs.
A great book that every Marvel fan should read. Brian Bendis also wrote a fair bit Spiderman Homecoming and is also known for creating Jessica Jones (the character, comics and netflix show).
Mark Millar gets on here three times but you forgot to put up Kraven's Last Hunt?
Please, make TOP 10 DC Comics graphic novel and Top 10 Vertigo graphic novels
Hey Mojo, can I suggest a top Marvel Graphic Novels of the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s, and did I mention 90s?
Hey mojo!
What about Kraven's Last Hunt and X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills?
- Spiderman: Kraven's Last Hunt
- Deadpool Kills the Marvel universe
- Marvel Zombies series
- Spiderman: The clone saga
- Venom: Circle of four
- Spiderman: Death of Captain/Gwen Stacey books
- Thor: Ragnarock
- The death of Spiderman (Ultimate Spiderman series).
Silver surfer requiem is one of the most beautifully drawn/written of most others on this list. Also infinity gauntlet doesn't count?
hopefully Spider-Man Blue is on here. its one of my favorite stories from one of my favorite heroes ever
Joss Whedons X-Men is my favourite iteration of the characters and I really hope this is the direction the MCU takes with the new X-Men movies. With slightly younger versions and Emma Frost a bad girl joining the mansion after the first movie and being Jean Grey's rival for Scott's affection.
I feel like X-men God love man kills should have at least been and honorable mention.
What about the two greatest Spider-man stories: The clone saga and One More Day, both fan favorite classics.
