dude dc has so many good stories that i get chilled just thinking about them. while i cant think of even 5 from marvel

One of the best things about *Superman:Red Son* is that neither the Soviet Superman nor Lex Luthor is a straightforward hero or villain.
And the story has a great twist ending.
Would have at least thought Crisis on Infinite Earths and Flashpoint would have an honorable mention.

Under the Red Hood, Injustice, Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow, Flashpoint, Identity Crisis, Crisis on Infinite Earths should atleast have a mention.

Injustice is a money grab. It was specifically made to get money from people who wnated to know more about the lore from the games. Luckily it was entertaining and action packed which is why people like it. But by no means is it intelligent writing. TDKR is intelligent writing at it's fullest. Its a dark deconstruction of a character at a time when Batman was known for the Kapow! Kaboom! Adam West stuff.

There is not bigger history, many deads and many changes causes by a mini series, Flash die, Supergirl die, and well ald the Gold and Silver charactercs die and change forever.
Crisis on Infinite Earths it's the biggest comic event of the history, and chage all the industry forever.

Trinity War/Forever Evil should have definitely made this list or any greatest story list. One of the few multiple book storylines to actually have important information in each crossover issue. The final fight is a true classic and is honest about what a no-holds barred superpower fight would be like.

Glaring lack of What Ever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
You missed Knightfall....one of the most influential stories on Batman's character and the introduction of the only man to have broken Batman - literally. It was amazing.
Watchmen is a beautifully written, artistically crafted piece of fiction brimming with game theory analysis, psychologically structured with prose wriiten dialogue..
The Dark Knight Returns is just pure fun.

I think "A Death in the Family" should have been on this list!
I would pick Sinestro Corps War as one of the stories too, at least as an honored mention. That was the first time Green Lanterns faced their match, the story was prepared way ahead and ignited the Blackest Night event.

I would have had the batman: venom storyline on here. Great writing, distinctive art style and planted the seed for the bane character. Next to the dark knight returns this my favorite Batman story.

Dark Knight Metal definitely definitely one of my all time favorite storylines from DC comics
there is an overlooked DC gem that I really wish more people would check out called Welcome To The Work Week. This kid publishes an indi-mag about superheros sneaks around the watchtower for a week covertly watching how the JLA interact with each other.

Flashpoint nor Books of Magic deserve to be on the list. Especially Flashpoint, that comic sucked, the movie was great because they got rid of all the incoherent plot points from the comic and streamlined the story. Books of Magic is fun, but if you're looking at a good Vertigo book, look no further than Sandman.
I also like the story (forgot the name) where Batman fell addicted to a drug that gave him strength after he was hurt (venom?), seriously challenged his morality.
I feel Brightest Day should have been mentioned, great story telling, tense moments, surprise ending, it made a great sequel to Blackest Night.
Death of Superman should have been a HM at least
I was beginning to think I was the only one who thought this. May not be the best but it's my favorite.
@ff3player: this could be argued - the premise and evolution was interesting to a point, but the conclusion is highly disappointed. I always found it as a sort of DC's "Clone Saga" from Marvel which started out great, but than lost its momentum and didn't really had an idea on how to deliver a good ending.
Make no mistake - I can totally see WHY your mind goes to that story, but compared to the ones on the list it does fall short in my opinion.

What about Flashpoint. It was one of the best story's yet. It's an important story because Barry learned an important lesson. It created the new 52. People are making movies about this story.
Mckenzie Morgan Flashpoint is beyond overrated and I am honestly shocked that so many people are talking about it. Any real Flash fan could tell you that Flashpoint wasn't intended to be a reboot and that editorial stuck it's grimy hands in and ruined everything for both the Flash and the DCU as a whole at the time. It's only being adapted to the movies because it's A) a very easy story to adapt into one without having to be loyal to source material. And B) it's really the only story Barry is known for since he was resurrected. If you want amazing Flash stories, read Return of Barry Allen, Terminal Velocity, Blitz, or Rogue War. That's where the amazing stories are. They star the true fastest man alive... Wally West

Hawkworld by Timothy Truman is one of the most underrated comics ever by DC. It will make you like Hawkman.
You guys missed Batman under the red hood. It is one of most intriguing story line that I have ever seen. Explains the struggles with himself and other people that the dark night faces every single moment of his life.

Gaming Animator technically not pure DC.was originally in British comic Warrior then finished in Vertigo.
That's by Vertigo Comics, my man. DC owns Vertigo now but not when V for Vendetta was first published. In fact, I think a small British publisher owned the rights to it at the very beginning.
When V for Vendetta was first published there was no Vertigo label so it is just a Dc comic , like Watchmen.
Vertigo has always been an imprint of DC. DC founded Vertigo to have a different name they could put on anything too mature/violent/unconventional, everything they didn't want to or couldn't put the DC name on at the time. It has always been the same company though.
V for Vendetta was originally published by some company in the UK that went bankrupt and DC picked it up and finished the series. They republished it under their Vertigo imprint later. So if you'd buy it now, yeah, it says Vertigo on the cover.
I guess they just counted stories that say "DC comics" on the cover? And they probably didn't look into the history of all titles they considered to fnd out who originally published them etc.
If they counted Vertigo titles, this list would have to look very different.
V for Vendetta was great, definitely one of my favourites,but what about Hellblazer, Transmetropolitan, Sandman? (Yes, those are series, but all of them have several great stories you could pick)

I didnt know of a few of these story lines. But some from the animated movie adaptations. But still good. I've enjoyed them.
I had old handmedown titans comics as a kid and didnt know about the judas contract. Lets just say its more than a little suprising to find out about Terra being a spy and then watch everyone continue to get tricked by her.

Without Dark Knight returns there would have likely been no Watchmen.
That's complete nonsense. Denny O'Neil and Len Wein did way more before to make Batman into a mature character nearly a decade before DKR even existed.
There is a major omission from this list... "Identity Crisis"! No other story has hit home as well... Rather than bigger and bolder villains, this one tackled the issue of the partners of the heroes being targeted. It also manages to get the reader to re-evaluate stories from the silver era, explaining why the adventures often seemed more simplistic or silly. This is surely not one to miss... if even only for the gut punch first issue.

Not too bad bad list but left out some epic storylines such as Flashpoint Paradox, which should have taken the number 4 spot.

The Killing Joke movie was Really Bad

Cut out the opening act and it's really not too bad. The actual Killing Joke portion was pretty spot on.
