    You could break the box down and place it under your mattress. I always keep my tv boxes whenever I buy anew one and keep them there that way when I’m moving I have it to pack my tv in. Cool space. Love the closet

      Cute apt. Can you slip box under the bed? Maybe you can easily collapse and store as suggested. Good idea under the mattress. Or what about behind clothes in closet.

    Breakdown the tv box & put it under the bed . You can still have enough room to store things under bed bc the box wont stick up that high. Also use vinegar & wadded up newspaper to scrub that mirror! It will sparkle !! That tip was given to me long ago by my great grandmother ! Works like a charm

    You have a lovely apartment! You could try to thrift some cool fabric and staple, tape or glue that to the tv box and hang it on the wall as a piece of art. The functionality of the box wouldn’t be lost but it would bring you joy instead of annoying you until you need to use it again.

    Oh my goodness the TH-cam algorithm is in hyperdrive for me it seems since it keeps blessing me with more recommendations of lovely studio tour videos such as this one! Love watching these videos as I rent my own studio apartment and get so much inspiration from watching these. Time to watch and update this comment with my thoughts on this one.
    Edit.
    Oh wow, that's only 300sq ft? That looks bigger than that so kudos to you on how well you decorate your studio. Like space of your bathroom and kitchen ( appliances so new! ) Nice style and thank you for sharing! X

    Another idea for your TV box: Cover with contact paper of your choice fitting your decor- it will look like a built-in on the wall- turn the box so the open end is easily accessible and use for storage for large flat items, etc.. Can also drape box with material if contact paper is not an option. You can probably store fold-up chairs in there or folding tables, canvases, pictures, etc.

      Funny you say that I actually have 2 flattened boxes under my mattress lol!! The tv box doesn’t seem simple enough to be broken down and put back together like other boxes :/ I definitely want it to maintain it’s protectiveness

      I was about to say the same....I've flattened a similar tv box and it was fine to use again with some strong tape along the corners- all packing boxes start out flat in the first place! However, if you really dont want to flatten it could it go under your bed and be used as storage, if necessary, in the meantime?
      Anyhoo, I also wanted to say that you've zoned your space really well and shown that you don't have to have a titchy sofa in a studio.

You reminded me of my uni studio apartment and how my sister was amused by my tiny kitchen ( very much like yours) and she bought me a bunch of tiny whisks and spatulas to decorate my 1free wall and she named it “barbie kitchen “. 😍. TV box: Cover it with a graphic contact paper and put it behind the TV against the wall. Hide all the cords and cables in the box itself by snaking them thru the bottom flaps. It’ll muffle the sound and improve the acoustics as well.

    Do you have an extra afghan, colored sheet or blanket? Leave plane or put your stuffed animal on top. Fake plant(s). Purse display (like art).
    Nothing that you don't already have or couldn't use again in another place (fake plants). Can't really get the box wet.

    There seems to be room for everything! The kitchen is typical studio-sized, but it's new and well equipped. I've noticed in videos of other women's apartments that they are cluttered with decorative items, but you must be better organized and more efficient than the average. (Men's small apartments are usually stark and utilitarian.). You have a good place in a building with amenities and in a good neighborhood, and for the price it's a great apartment!

    Cute apartment. In the time since you signed your lease rents have continued to decline, similar nice places are ~ $1,500/$1,600. Of course once NYC bounces back from covid there will be steep rent increases. You were not paranoid, probably too many people don’t really look at the building amenities like laundry room, trash, what else is available nearby.

    • @annam5733
      @annam5733  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hopefully the low prices attract a bunch of young people since the elder rich have fled the city! I heard so many horror stories of places looking great online but terrible in person (like missing front doors so anyone could walk in, no gas to the building)

    • @Thomas63r2
      @Thomas63r2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@annam5733 there will probably never be a shortage of awful building owners and managers in NYC. The bottom feeders waiting to scoop up distressed properties are likely to be worse than the many mom and pop owners they are replacing. With sagging rents I expect more rentals being shabby. Note to renters: make sure your lease contracts have performance requirements for the property - if you don't have it in writing it doesn't matter if they talk to you nicely as they collect your deposit and rent.

    Hi! This is a really nice apartment! I was wondering what leasing requirements are like if you’re a grad student or do landlords generally work with you if you don’t have proper income since you’re technically still a student?

    • @annam5733
      @annam5733  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you don’t have an income (or if your income is too low) then you have to have a guarantor! I’m fortunate to have my parent sign as mine. Other people also use third-party guarantors, like companies and sometimes universities will sign if they have that service. Even though I pay for everything myself, as soon as I mentioned having my mom guarantee me my landlords did not care about my individual requirements at all. They only cared about my parent’s records. From what I’ve gathered, landlords aren’t lenient on requirements because they want to ensure they get their money, but you can definitely negotiate your rent down and some landlords have lower requirements than others

      @@specificsoup yes there's an income requirement for guarantors! Whether it's the same as the renters' or higher than the renters' is up to the landlord/leasing company.

    • @raquellambropoulos279
      @raquellambropoulos279 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. You usually need 3x the rent. Especially in covid landlords are not taking chances with tennents who possibly have issues with not being able to pay the rent. They may allow your parents to cosign the lease with u if they are willing to be financially responsible for you if you can't make the rent. But I suggest living in a rental you can afford or stay at home or in the dorms. If you find yourself getting evicted its a fate that will cost you $$ plenty not to mention you will be black balled and won't be able to rent a decent place for a decade. No joke

      My place has a similar income requirement but it’s for either the tenant or their guarantor. Luckily my mom meets the requirement and signed as my guarantor. If you don’t have someone to do that for you then you need to hire a 3rd party to do it. Ik people who have applied with Insurent and The Guarantors. How are you expecting to pay rent and urilities and everything else needed like food transportation and tuition books ...if your answer is my parents have them rent the place. You can't be on a lease with out income. Its 3x the rent usually. Not 40x .

    What kind of work do you do? I am trying to rent a $1100/month studio and it isn't nearly as pretty, and it is 25 mins from the city, but I know I will need to look for some better work and I'm only just waitressing and going to school. Are you trying to save for a home or are you happy renting and what kind of work do you do to afford such a gem in new york, if you don't mind the question?

    • @annam5733
      @annam5733  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I'm a student so I'm relying on loans and then I also nanny part-time to make money for food, MTA fare, etc. The only way I was able to get this apartment is because my parent signed as my guarantor even though I pay for it. I also signed at the peak of the low prices in the covid market crisis so prices are back up since then. TBH I wouldn't spend more than $1000 to live outside the city, that's overpriced. You can find great places in Manhattan in Kips Bay, Murray Hill, Upper East Side (the far east side or the north side), East Village, and FiDi in the $1000-range. Get a roommate and you can pay less than $1000 in manhattan for a decent place. I recommend living in the city because as a waitress you'll make WAY more $$$ here, plus if you live outside of the city then the daily commute will add up and you likely won't have saved much money. Also, from a safety perspective, please don't take the subway late at night alone after a shift. I have friends who have been attacked and followed in the last year, so please find a safe apartment in the city and embrace CitiBikes or walking lol

    • @annam5733

      Unfortunately the bed frame has center posts so it won’t fit (I also use under the bed for storing smaller boxes).
