Welcome to my apartment! We've been building this baby for the past 7 months and I am so excited to share the progress with you all! Also... I am very open for bathroom decor suggestions 😅 Hope you all have a GREAT weekend ahead!
@@theregoesgail I actually like my little apartment. I’ve done a lot of what you’ve done. I have a Chinese and American art collection and I have my paintings and Qing dynasty embroideries hanging on all of my walls. The trick with small apartments is to remember scale. You can’t put a huge couch and something like a big entertainment center in a small space. My little kitchen table and chair doubles as a desk with a Chinese ginger jar lamp on it. I have hand woven Kilim rugs on the floors to cover up the awful linoleum tile because I live in a rent controlled seniors apt complex and it’s a little Soviet, if you know what I Mean. I have a few antiques and the only thing I have left to get is a small book case because I am a voracious reader. Half the furniture I have I got for free when a man on the 13th floor died and it was offered to me for free. So I have a beautiful Chippendale headboard and dresser, my table and chair, lamps and end tables that are all my style. It was a blessing from God. Btw, I love the natural light you have in your apartment. Your home is beautiful.
Hi! Love your place! Bathroom idea: when you showed the vase on top of the toilet, I thought, those colors look great with the tile insert. The vase looks gray maybe, the stem looks green/yellow/gold. Frames in a brass/gold family like the fixtures and the hooks would look nice, or thin medium tone wood. Anyhoo, that’s my 2 cents. Also, I still can’t wrap my head around how you youngsters make all the furniture I got as hand me downs from my parents in the late 80’s look cool and hip! Somehow at age 60 I feel like having those pieces in my home screams old lady, whereas in your place it looks trendy and cool. Go figure
Now that you’ve taken us through room by room, your place looks bigger than 375 sq ft. It’s a very nice apartment and you’ve done a great job with the decor. Thank you for sharing 😊
It is recommended that nail polish be stored in the fridge. It doesn't thicken over time. Your apartment is beautiful. I love the knick knacks you have placed throughout. My favourite room is your dining. Love how you've used your storage ottoman as a seat. Watching from Australia and downsized to an apartment 12 years ago.
I loved that she opened up her cabinets (and fridge!) to show how she organized her stuff. It’s such an issue in small spaces. Cute apt style and cute tour guide. 👍
Surprised you have a separate bedroom in your 375sf apt! Also, it seems to have charming old prewar bones like high ceilings/fireplace/windows but has fabulous shiny new clean surfaces. Clearly defined Liv/Din(worktable)/Kit/Entry/Bed/Bath/storage spaces. Worth every single penny. Like how you kept it uncluttered and roomy. It's New York fantasy fabulous.
I paid $325 a month beginning in 1980 for a 425 sq ft studio on 74th and1st and stayed 16 years -- rent $500 when I left. I miss Manhattan and loved that time. Was truly special.
Wow. I remember my family paid $300 rent for a 3 bedroom, 1bath, living room, dining room, 2 large hall closets, eat in kitchen with pantry. This was 1985 in the Midwest. My my how times have changed.
lol, In SF in1980 I moved into an apartment in the Haight by the park. It was big and $180 a month. Only had it for three years and sometimes I wonder what the rent is now with rent control.
Favorite room: Living room. Bathroom suggestion - brass train luggage rack(s) to store extra rolled up towels and hand towels on. Since the tile is (grey) marble, white, and brass, stick with that color pallet. A white over the toilet cabinet with shelf above the tile will allow you to store toilet paper and Kleenex in cabinet above toilet, where most useful, along with extra shampoo and soap for when you run out in the shower. The shelf (either attached to cabinet or a floating shelf below cabinet and above tile) could possibly hold scented candle or for fire safety scented diffuser sticks in vase with essential oil. Eucalyptus? 😂 add a small draping plant in a pot that likes damp darker places?? (May have to occasionally put out in living room. 🥴) white faux battery operated candle with a timer - can also double as a “night light” so you won’t have to turn on the overhead light if you go to the bathroom at night. Perhaps some mood/adjustable lighting somewhere for decompressing as you get ready for bed at night. The bright light is fine for waking up daytime. Since there are wavy tiles pick out art with waves in it with brass and/ or grey or marbalized frames. One or two small floating shelves with battery timer candles and/ or a plant. Brass towel rack to hang drying towels- can you place up high in the back of the shower where they might not get wet? Idk. Grey or grey & white bath rug. Special under sink pull out shelving/ organizers to make better use of the space under sink. Also a very thin white strip of MDF “wood” carefully cut to length and screwed to one of the sink doors should cover the gap between the doors. Also get a L-shaped backsplash and ask about having it custom fit/cut and installed to keep water from running down the back of the bathroom sink counter top. I saw light there when you opened the doors and showed underneath and that will cause bigger problems down the road. Bedroom idea: padded cloth tufted headboard in whatever fabric & shape and trim you want for that room, attached to the wall. Also a smaller matching footboard on the other end, also attached to wall. Perhaps a small floating bookshelf off to one side to serve as a side table as well as more book storage. A small swing arm or positionable wall lamp for reading at night. A hanging draping plant in the corner by overhead light chain, in a hanging basket. That’s all for now. Good luck and good work!
Your apartment is absolutely gorgeous!! I love the bathroom tile because it’s so unique. Any color can go in the bathroom, as long as it has gold/brass accents. Your living room is a dream and I love your personality.
Gail, your apartment is beautiful. It reflects your lifestyle and warm personality. What a welcoming, pretty, and well kept space. To me it sure shows bigger than 375 sq. ft. I always enjoy what you share. Thanks so much. ❤
I love your main living area. The sofa, wall art, dining area are stunning. Your record collection is amazing too. In the bathroom you could hang old gold antique frames with art. It would bring a different mood in and distract the eye from the wavy tiles.
I’m still amazed how you found that piece above your couch. I remember watching the video of when you found it and loved it. It fits your space so well.
It was an awesome find. I remember when I lived in NYC from 80 to 2001, there was always so much good stuff being thrown out and available from people moving, I don't think I ever bought anything other than linens and kitchen stuff, and even some of that was available. Not to mention all the thrifted/second-hand items available at the flea markets on the weekends. This was before thrift and flea markets were popular, and it was awesome to have beaten the curve. Now, everybody seems to be into it, so probably not so much available on the streets anymore.
Hi! I really enjoyed watching the tour of your cozy and very personalized city apartment. I live in a big city apartment in South America and it's also small and hard to organize and distribute the things and decor and this has been a great inspiration for me!!! Your home is beautiful and you seem like a very kind soul. My best to you!!! 💕 🙏
Your light filled airy living room is SO calm & cozy... Great place to relax & destress after a busy day... Love that you are a vintage vinyl record playing kinda girl. Thanks for the apartment tour! It was just lovely... 💖
Frameless abstract art for the bathroom wall will add colour and an oval mirror with an old-gold frame, above the toilet, will complement the brass in the tile border. An extra mirror will bounce the light in a tiny room with no window. I like the modern/vintage mix you have in your apartment.
WOW your space is absolutely stunning. I can’t believe how cohesive cozy yet elegant & spacious it looks. I want to be there right now. Omg the rent for the space 😳😱😵💫
Fantastic. Sm but not cluttered and elevated. i love your idea of creating a place to recharge within, yet away, from city-life. Really beautifully done.
I love that you are so real, lucky charms... cracks me up! ( I love them as well!) Your home is beautiful and you have such a gift for decorating! Thank you for sharing!!!
Your apartment is so nice! It looks way bigger than 375 ft. You have utilized every inch of your space efficiently and beautifully. This is one of the nicest small apartment tours I have seen!! While $2600 is a lot, you have a really nice home to show for it. You are blessed!! I just subscribed to your channel today. 😊
I love the way you decorated your apartment! The living room is my favorite. I worked in NYC 37 years ago but unfortunately could not afford to live there. I endured a two-hour commute every day from Red Bank, NJ. Your videos make me feel what it would have been like had I been lucky enough to live in NYC.
Absolutely love your apartment. You've done such a great job in making it look bigger. I have a small apartment but never know how to lay it out to make it look and feel this comfortable. You did a great job, thanks for sharing.
Love that bath tile!!! It is not boring ..very upscale & "mid century "looking.... IMO I would use a white frame & white matting...the pop of color should be the artwork itself.........gallery standard..... very chic....BTW the apartment looks great...all the rooms! Nice job
Very creative..how u defined just a few feet of space to be a certain FUNCTION. U did GOOD! I enjoyed ur tour and the simplicity was not boring. It was calming! Do continue, please?
I'd do peel and stick wallpaper In the bathroom. Light dimmer Put under cabinet rechargeable light in the kitchen. Wall Art. Put the mirror back in it. It will reflect light. You did a great job.
It seems way bigger than 375 sq ft! Goes to show you that a good layout and natural lighting do a lot. Great job, I love the style of your living room!!!
That fireplace would have sold me on the place instantly! ❤ Its gorgeous! I bet your Christmas tree 🎄 will look gorgeous next to that. Yes, I see a space, and my mind starts thinking how I could and would decorate for Christmas! 😄 You have done a lovely job, regardless of season 👏
I like the wavy bathroom tile. It fits well with the modern, sleek shapes of many of your decorative accessories throughout the apt., including the wall hanging in the living room. They all compliment each other nicely. Great job decorating AND hosting the tour.
My granddaughter lives on the upper west side and works for the New York Senate. It blows me away the things that she has done to her apartment. I can’t pick a favorite room in your space because you have done a fabulous job creating an inviting space!!!
Gail, your apt. tour was superb! Living room is by far my fave room with the lovely sunlight flooding in. You've made gr8 use of the space you have. Also, I appreciate your calm, serene presentation. Very relaxing.
Love your apartment. It's fun to see how people decorate their spaces. The layout of this apartment is amazing considering the size. My favorite space is your living room. I am envious of the fireplace and windows; in addition to the massive record collection.
I’m watching your video for the second time. I’m in love with the esthetic you’ve created in your apartment home, each piece with a history. You chose carefully. When you say it’s like “pieces of a puzzle” it’s relatable to me. It’s how I feel about decorating in general. I sold my house three years ago. I now live in a condo, a smaller space. It’s been a fun challenge creating storage space. I’m still selling, giving away (to my children) or donating the items I will never have space for. Total organization is my goal. There is no room for superfluous anything.
Loved the tour! Your rent is actually less than I expected. The living room is my favorite. I love the record collection but it all looks great. Have a good weekend!
I love the entire apartment. You have done a great job of furniture placement and personal decorating. Your place is very cozy and welcoming. Great job. I look forward to future videos from you.
Your paintings are really lovely. Your artistic talent shows in all the pieces, colors, and textures you put together in your living room, which is completely yum. The rug makes it all so lush. I love knowing how perfect that wall piece is without the mirrors. For me, it looks like the struggle in accessorizing the bathroom has to do with those exessively harsh overhead bulbs. I would find it easier to see what blends well with much softer lighting. This has to be my favorite tiny apartment tour video because the way you filled up your spaces is so aesthetically lovely and relaxing. I don't know anything about feng shui, but every aspect of your design has so much good energy.
Love your apartment!! You are one of the first New Yorkers that doesn't have a lot of "stuff" crammed in every corner and on top of everything. You have everything organized so well and I love how you have decorated everything. very tasteful and very much to your style. Great job!!!!
I've been watching a lot of tiny home videos, so your apartment looks spacious, deluxe even! And I LOVE the bathroom tiles. I was also particularly impressed by the *built-in* dining area bench and seat back.
You appear to be the perfect mixture of a maximalist/minimalist . Your apt is lovely. So agree with the space arrangement of your bedroom. Thought of painting walls above the tile sky blue with a large beach/ocean unframed picture as the bathroom tiles remind me of sand washed by the sea. Looking forward to future installments.
Your apartment is charming cozy. You did a great job on the decor (my opinion 😄). I really love that you have set it up so that you can have guests with no problem. Excellent!
As a California native who's always been drawn to NY, your channel gives me my fix. I love your decorating style. Your apartment is lovely. I think I like your living room the best. I look forward to more of your videos.
GAIL 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 You did an outstanding job with your apartment tour and its decoration. I particularly appreciated your creative approach to changing artwork with different album covers and the thoughtful decision to extend the bathroom curtain all the way up. The small shelf with the vases above the bathroom mirror, featuring what looks like a piece of brass, was a delightful touch. As a brass enthusiast, I believe this bathroom is ideal for showcasing unique brass pieces. I’d be happy to share some tips on how to maintain their shine. Your attention to detail is evident, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching each of your videos. You truly are exceptional. Also, as a fellow Puerto Rican, I wanted to mention how much I relate to your style and creativity.BRAVO SISTER
@@theregoesgail You are exceptionally kind, considerate, and intelligent. I have a 22-year-old daughter who is highly gifted and brilliant, and you remind me very much of her. I will email you my precise method for cleaning brass ❤️🙋🏻♀️👏🏼👏🏼
I adore your charming apartment! You have done a beautiful job Gail! It seems very “you”. The rug and those gold chairs are perfection with the sofa ! And the dining area is done very cleverly. The bathroom is nice too - I think gold or antique brass or even timber frame art would work in there and also marble pieces. ❤ I love the pink/rose accents - they work too.
You have decorated your place to become a lovely apartment. That $2,600 a month rent would have me depressed all the time. I'm thankful to God that I own my own home and my heart still goes out to renters, like you, who are feeling the pinch. I hope one day you find a reasonably priced home that you can buy.
I would consider switching your dresser to the other side of the wall because it’s the longer side and the desk where the dresser is..also switching out your head position of the bed to the other side of the wall as well.. might give you just a bit more walking space next to your mattress. The mirror from the dresser will reflect more light and make it look bigger than the set up you have now and you will see the reflection of doorway…feng shui flow… you can mount a little wall shelf underneath your artwork on the other side of your mattress to use as little nightstand.. you can also place a lamp on your desk for smaller lighting and reading in bed.. you could hang a few wall hooks on the big blank wall in your bathroom and get them off the back of the door, place two shelves above the toilet for pretty decorative things, plants and storage. Lots of ideas 😀
I love your taste, very organized! thank you so much for sharing. I love your apartment. My favorite room was the living room and I loved those chairs! Your apartment is very clean and modern, but also charming. I love all the artwork, it really warms everything up.
Gail, you did such an awesome job!! the apartment looks so much better than when I lived there 🤣I'm jealous of the storage you have in the kitchen, though I must admit it was a gas stove previously, lol. Love the pendant lights and I wish I'd thought of a storage bench (I have a similar one now in my current apartment) bc that one closet life is toughhh.
Gail, I thought I was creative, you blew me away. Your apartment is amazing and looks so much bigger then it is. God love you for being able and willing to pay such a high price for such a small space. You must have a fab job in New York. I saw this video in the past and it still amazes me. I'm going to redo a small kitchen next year in our 1-bedroom apartment in New York, we are in Florida now, I'm going to need some tips from you, lol! Wow, love your style. All the best to you. Can't wait for your next project!🧡💛💚💙💜❤
I thought I loved the last apartment's decor but you exceeded it in leaps & bounds with this one. I have loved everything you have done here. Gorgeous 👌
Love your space! What I would do is get a peel n stick wallpaper to cover the border in the bathroom. That takes away the gold/silver dilemma. You could make the border white making the entire bathroom white, clean slate to add color artwork, etc. Good luck !
Great use of space. Very organized and decorated with personal pieces gives it uniqueness. I think a dark gray frame in bathroom would go nicely. I love the living room. Great Job.
Thanks for the tour 😘 It’s such a great place and I enjoyed you talking about the things you collected and found. I especially love the sculpture at 3:47 and the UO piece is so cool. What a great find! I also have pothos plants in my flat and they have now reached the floor. Not sure whether to cut them and stick them back into the pot or grow them in water 🤔
Hi Gail, yes it's pricey but as someone who had to move away from my last place and a sh*tload of dear friends I say enjoy and more importantly appreciate your very nice digs. Your grandfather's carving is a Kenyan tribal piece perhaps he was there? Your livingroom has to be my favorite and I wonder if a collection of small French style mirrors (gold giltish) might work perfectly for that bathroom wall opposite the sink. I'll say it again just enjoy every day and thanks for the update!
Taking a cue from other colors you have in the bathroom- some colorful frames would look GREAT! (like a little grouping with a yellow/blue/green frame for example) or just using brassy/gold frames to match the yellows and the brass fixtures you have (the hooks). :)
I noticed your Vornado fan on the table. That fan will outlive both of us. We bought ours when our son graduated from Navy bootcamp. It runs about 20/7/365. Just wanted to tell you what a wonderful tour of an amazing space. My niece lives in a place in Manhattan as well and pays a small fortune as you do. Her love of the Manhattan experience is going on fifteen years. The amazing thing is that she is a born and bred southern girl...or at least she was. Again, a great job.
OK, love your apartment. Lots of great ideas! But the minute you admitted to having an anxiety attack filming this video and checked your own heart rate? That was the moment I pressed subscribe! I really appreciate the honesty of that moment! Looking forward to more 🙂
I enjoyed watching your NYC apartment tour. Your place is well put together & felt that it reflected you nicely. Good wholesome impression of you & your home.
Your little home is lovely & warm. What a find that abstract frame was... you have a good eye. My favorite thing in your home would be you, dear. You seem quite genuine and warmhearted. I wish you well. Thanks for being you! God Bless
Welcome to my apartment! We've been building this baby for the past 7 months and I am so excited to share the progress with you all! Also... I am very open for bathroom decor suggestions 😅 Hope you all have a GREAT weekend ahead!
I love your apartmnent. Its so beautiful. One thing you can do is buy some soft yellow lights, which are more soothing on the eyes.
Too expensive for me unfortunately but your apartment is so beautiful. Wish I could decorate as beautiful as you. Stay safe😊

I enjoyed ur tour and the simplicity was not boring. It was calming! Do continue, please?
I'd do peel and stick wallpaper
In the bathroom.
Light dimmer
Put under cabinet rechargeable
light in the kitchen.
Wall Art. Put the mirror back in it. It will reflect light. You did a great job.
Yes, great tour! Your apartment is lovely with lots of unique decor from your travels. Thank you for sharing.
It seems way bigger than 375 sq ft! Goes to show you that a good layout and natural lighting do a lot. Great job, I love the style of your living room!!!
Girl! Be yourself, don’t be nervous . You are fabulous so is your apartment. Love it.
Thank you so much!
Pure white bathroom is always a great idea- it’s a fresh look, simple and elegant ❤
The living room is my favorite. I am getting a little retro vibe, I love it.
Love your apartment. It's fun to see how people decorate their spaces. The layout of this apartment is amazing considering the size. My favorite space is your living room. I am envious of the fireplace and windows; in addition to the massive record collection.
I totally agree, I'm a sucker for apartment tours myself. Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you, Kristy!
I love the entire apartment. You have done a great job of furniture placement and personal decorating. Your place is very cozy and welcoming. Great job. I look forward to future videos from you.
A mirror on the opposing wall in the medicine cabinet mirror, maybe.🤷♀️ What an amazing job you’ve done on your cozy apartment. You’re so organized!!
It's beautiful and cozy... And it looks so much bigger than 375 sq ft!! That living room area is gorgeous. Much love 😊💕
It’s really stylish and practical. Beautiful environment, furniture and objects, treasures etc … love the no kidding globe 🤓
Thank you so much!!
This is the best tiny apartment I’ve seen on YT. It seems so spacious and homey. You did a beautiful job ❤
I've been watching a lot of tiny home videos, so your apartment looks spacious, deluxe even! And I LOVE the bathroom tiles. I was also particularly impressed by the *built-in* dining area bench and seat back.
I love looking at all the wonderful ideas you get this apt is amazing!
Thank you so much for watching!
living room is nicely appointed...you have made great use of space and it is unique to you... great job!
Favorite room is definitely the living room. Love how you made it so welcoming.
Ugh wow this entire comment was so incredibly sweet - you're the best, Susan! 🫶 I'd love to know and brass-shine tips!
Wow! You've done such a great job decorating your place. It's functional, but you've definitely made it your own. The living room is my favorite.
I love the color palette of your living room, rich, relaxing and warm.
It is inspiration for me, and i am looking for a similar sofa 💚
So happy you think so! I got my couch from All Modern if you're interested ♥️
She's just adorable and real. Beautiful home!
agreed!
So happy you like it!
Your apartment is beautiful and I love how well-thought-out it is. Beautiful decorating. Smaller is better. Enjoy, and thank you for the tour.
You have decorated your place to become a lovely apartment. That $2,600 a month rent would have me depressed all the time. I'm thankful to God that I own my own home and my heart still goes out to renters, like you, who are feeling the pinch. I hope one day you find a reasonably priced home that you can buy.
I love your apartment!! One of the best I’ve seen.
What a beautiful and cozy space you’ve created. So nice.
Thanks so much, Nancy! 😊
Great tour! Honestly, I'd just leave the bathroom as it is. That living room is GIVING effortless cozy chill vibes! Absolutely stunning.
Thank you for all of the ideas!
I love your taste, very organized! thank you so much for sharing. I love your apartment. My favorite room was the living room and I loved those chairs! Your apartment is very clean and modern, but also charming. I love all the artwork, it really warms everything up.
Very nice apartment and very nice tour. My favorite room is your living room.
I really like the wall art above the sofa. You have done a great job
decorating your apartment !!
Really !!!❤
Gail, you did such an awesome job!! the apartment looks so much better than when I lived there 🤣I'm jealous of the storage you have in the kitchen, though I must admit it was a gas stove previously, lol. Love the pendant lights and I wish I'd thought of a storage bench (I have a similar one now in my current apartment) bc that one closet life is toughhh.
Darn haha I wish it were gas!
Great apartment!! So neat and pretty!! I love your artwork and furniture choices. The living room is my favorite room.
I love that African piece left from your grand father. Lovely home. Very inviting.
Thank you, I do too!
Gorgeous 👌
Ugh thank you Bonnie!! I really appreciate it 🫶
Love the living room. You've figured out how to keep it light, practical, and attractive. It's just enough space for one and for a few visitors.
Love your space! What I would do is get a peel n stick wallpaper to cover the border in the bathroom. That takes away the gold/silver dilemma. You could make the border white making the entire bathroom white, clean slate to add color artwork, etc. Good luck !
Hahaa I just left this. Comment. Great minds? 😊
Thank you for the suggestion!
So glad you enjoyed! You can cut them and propagate the ends!
I loved the whole apartment. You did a fantastic job decorating! Loved your personality as well.
The part about sleeping on top of the Christmas tree cracked me up
🤣
Well organized. Beautiful. Nicely decorated. Great taste. Love the art. 😊
Thank you for your comment, Martin! I like the mirror idea!
@@theregoesgail I think it would work well.
This is all just so relatable as a fellow woman living alone in a small rented space! Love what you did with it! Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for watching!
Taking a cue from other colors you have in the bathroom- some colorful frames would look GREAT! (like a little grouping with a yellow/blue/green frame for example) or just using brassy/gold frames to match the yellows and the brass fixtures you have (the hooks). :)
Love this - thank you for sharing!
Small but beautiful and very well kept!
mission accomplished!
The UO mirror without the mirror is literally the coolest piece of art I've seen in a while. ❤
Thank you so much!
OK, love your apartment. Lots of great ideas! But the minute you admitted to having an anxiety attack filming this video and checked your own heart rate? That was the moment I pressed subscribe! I really appreciate the honesty of that moment! Looking forward to more 🙂
Thank you for sharing this video of your apt. I really like your deco ideas in all your rooms. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
As a native New Yorker I was surprised by the amount rent you pay. thought it would be more.
Unreal! $$$$$
Love all the vintage items ❤ what do you do for a living ?
@@dally8399 i was wondering the same ,lol, hope she answers
The living room space was my favorite…the windows and fireplace, I just love!!! Great tour. Thank you🥰
A very memorable shot of whiskey with you Gail!
I have another one waiting for you for next time!
I enjoyed watching your NYC apartment tour. Your place is well put together & felt that it reflected you nicely. Good wholesome impression of you & your home.
Love your well put together apartment so quaint and cozy, put a beautiful abstract picture in bathroom picking up colors in tile.
Your little home is lovely & warm. What a find that abstract frame was... you have a good eye.
My favorite thing in your home would be you, dear. You seem quite genuine and warmhearted.
I wish you well. Thanks for being you!
God Bless
That is so very kind - thank you!
