“The high ceilings and natural light are what first caught my attention about this home,” begins Rachael Harvey, Assistant Membership Director for a synagogue in Manhattan. “I grew up on a busy road, so I especially love being connected to the city through my street view. I feel like I can be a part of the action, but within my own space. I want my apartment to not only share my story, but invite anyone who walks in to become a part of it,” she describes of the 275-square-foot Upper East Side studio apartment she’s been renting.

She is a real joy! Love the extra shelves and other tricks she used to maximize her space. It looks MUCH larger than 275 square feet!
What a great way to be in the centre of things, but have your own space to come home to. Things like this take a while, to collect right items & get the ideas. I am in envy with anybody with a design-eye..
My parents always said it’s not the size of the home it’s what you do with it 💚 congratulations to her she did a amazing job 😄
So true. I had smallish homes and longed for a big house. I thought that would help with the clutter. No! In a large house, I've discovered, if you are not careful you will just have a big clutter.
I prefer smaller spaces. Her place is perfect!

I always have a lot of respect for people who make studio apartments work. Having my bed in the same room as my kitchen I would hate. Anyways this is a wonderful and cozy space ❤
I placed my bed in the dining nook of my one bedroom apartment. It's really not so bad. Leaves living room and bedroom available for other uses. The bed makes up to look like a daybed during the day.
She can change the fridge door swing to open the right way 'a la Cash Jordan'. She has at least 8 friends. Cool
Same. I think I could live in a place this size but would need to have my bed/bedroom area somehow bordered off from the rest either with a curtain or folding wall.
@@serenakoleno9338It’s just that I wouldn’t want my bed in the same room as the kitchen.. For my rest it’s better to have a separate for sleeping and the rest is for living
@@lolah3838Yes some sort of separation would make it better although you’d still sleep in your kitchen 😅 anyways I just feel like I have an adorable two bedroom apartment to live in.
I started crying when she mentioned that the dog pillow of her now deceased dog is the same size as he was when he was alive. She seems so joyful and kind!
Wonderful space. I thought that was a real dog until she picked up the pillow, wow.

Such a warm inviting place. Clever choices make it seem much larger. The bedroom area really does fade into the background with the way the furniture is set up and gives the feel of it's own little room. The kitchen nook is just darling and nicely separated from the living space. Some really smart and efficient ways to maximize the space.
I love it! I never cease to be impressed by the creativity and initiative shown by people who live in small apartments. And that couch - what a find!
Rachel is a very charming young lady. She has done wonders with the small space she occupies. I only wish that her landlord would have been graceful enough to give her studio a fresh coat of paint and make her kitchen cabinets a bit nicer.

Clever zoning and storage throughout. Love the "citrus" theme in the kitchen and the artwork in the entire space. Very fresh. Inspired by the extra shelving under the sink and the motion activated light, too.
She did a lovely job with her apartment and it’s very sweet holding on her memories of her family beloved dog.

Those 2chairs I bought at Walmart 4my 1st apartment just like that .I only used two and paired it with a free table!!The most comfortable chairs ever!!

Rachel did a great job of making her home look cute and cozy, while still being very functional. So, often the small spaces shown doesn’t have a a TV watching area. He’s has a TV complete with a very comfy couch. This is definitely one of my favorites from Apartment Therapy.

My Sister in law lived in Queens, NYC and her apartment looked very similar, it was so cozy. She had a coffee table that was a fish tank .
Ok as a native i actually think this is a pretty good deal for a studio? Nowadays it’s hard to find something under 2k (sadly.) I do like how much she DIY’ed and added to the kitchen for example and overall while still small I think she did get to make it seem more~~

Your home is lovely. It’s hard to believe that it is only 275 square feet. Your furniture choices and the way you’ve arranged everything does make it seem larger, but also very cozy.
You did a great job on decorating but I love the shelves you built next to the cabinets. NY Street Shopping: great sofa!!! Very cozy and the illusion of space makes it look larger than a studio. Your landlord is lucky to have such a creative tenant.

I think this looks lovely and cozy but I never understand why people who have tiny apartments don’t make more use of Murphy beds or screens to make their beds a little more ‘private’ during the day and to stop the apartment feeling too dormroom-like.

Unless you know how to build one, they can be pretty pricey. I priced them out and the cheapest I could find was around $2k. Not everyone has that kind of money to plunk down.

100 % on screens. Such a simple way to separate the bed from the living room. I'm amazed more people don't think of this.
It’s too much hassle to put it up and down every day.
I'm not big on Murphy beds and wouldn't ever want one. Just isn't me, or who I am.

For storage under the bed, a great way to hide it is with cute little bed skirt. You can fit so much underneath without a trace lol! :)
