As a kid growing up in the 80's and watching all of the greats , I really loved "The rockers" energy they brought to their matches. Nobody, to me topped them except Ultimate Warrior.
You think Chuck Austin agrees? Marty broke his neck, intentionally, and then rolled his lifeless body over, causing the nerves in his spinal cord to get stretched and twisted, causing way more damage than the initial impact. Very, very evil person...🔥
How could you not like Marty Jannetty,he is a humble man and calls it honestly and not afraid to admit his fuck ups,he would be some laugh in the pub, I hope he writes a book,a phenomenal worker and respectful to all his industry.

hezamachine Yeah, I was just about to comment Shawn/Marty was the second match at Rumble '93 not the first, personally I think it was a pretty good match (aside from Marty's sell of the superkick, lol)
If what Marty said is 100% true then shame on Vince just making a decision based on what Shawn told him, and on Shawn for blaming his own transgressions on Marty. Often there's more to the story, such as Vince already wanting to fire him but just looking for an acceptable excuse. I wonder how Curt Henning helped him get his job back.
I just watched this match recently. Shawn seemed pretty lethargic throughout most of it, meanwhile Marty sold really well and just looked like he brought his "A game" that night. Clearly Vince didn't see the same match that i did, and it's a shame that he would fire someone based solely on one person's account of the events, without even trying to get the other side of the story. We all know about how Shawn was basically getting away with murder in '96, and '97, but I never would have thought Shawn would already have that much pull with Vince in early 1993.
*4:31* Marty: "Shawn...he kept making mistakes." I thought it was just me that noticed Shawn's "mistakes." I did notice Shawn had this tendency to screw up by doing the same unsuccessful moves and expect different results. I've lost count of how many times he'd done this during Hart Foundation vs. Rockers matches and him vs. Bret Hart matches and that's only those that I've mentioned. It was rather funny how Shawn would attempt this same unsuccessful move on Bret; Bret would knock him out of the ring with this look on his face like, "You did this before; guess you want the same result." Thank goodness for Curt, may he rest in peace. Marty is definitely telling the honest truth here. Other wrestlers have mentioned how Shawn put their careers in jeopardy if not put them out of wrestling altogether.
I know it's sad how Shawn was supposed to be his friend and threw him under the bus so many times to save himself. Like when Shawn would do things to try and get them fired and tell Marty they should ask for a release then Marty calls for them and talks to Vince gets the release then Shawn goes behind his back and says it was all Marty's idea. Or when they would both get messed up and then Shawn would talk to Vince alone as usual and claim it was all Marty. Apparently you go far if you buddy up to Vince but if you are great at your job that doesn't matter.

I read this in an old PWI wrestling magazine right after the Rockers break up. The article was an interview-style article, where the writer would ask Shawn Michaels all these questions. and one of the questions went something like this:Interviewer: Its been reported that before you and Marty came to the WWF, that they (the WWF) didn't want the Rockers in a package deal. Do you remember that.Shawn Michaels answer was: I don't know what they saw in that guy. Also, Shawn Michaels told the story in the same article, that when VKM wanted to break the Rockers up, he first went to Marty. But Marty liked being a tag team with the Rockers; so VKM went to Shawn Michaels, and Shawn jumped at the chance. (this is was Shawn Michaels said, according to a PWI interview in a wrestling mag I had back in 1993)
I know this wasn't the era of social media to actually see these things, but you would think that Vince would've been notified that Shawn was fucked up due to the fact that he had passed out in his food, and they had to dial up the ambulance to get him to the hospital the night before Royal Rumble. Id hate to say this but maybe it was the best time to get out the biz brotha. Shawns legacy is tarnished bro as you have some future left outside the ring
I feel like there's whole chunks of this story missing. Of course Sherri was "inserted" into the PPV match. She was part of the storyline -- doesn't Marty recall "hitting" her with HBK's mirror? That should have had absolutely no effect on the match itself. Also, HBK spent practically the entire 1990s out of his mind on booze and pills but -- WM 14 aside -- he always delivered. He has the track record of success. Marty doesn't. Plus, there's no way Vince would've fired Marty on HBK's verbal testimony alone. There's more to the story that Marty is leaving out.
It was supposed to be first but the part Marty did not mention was a agent found him passed out in the locker room drunk so it wasn’t just Shawn who said something a lot of ppl did so Marty was right it was first but got pushed to the second match
This is one of the reasons why Shawn isn't the greatest of all time cause he didn't make any body besides himself even when working with Diesel at 11 he sabotaged the finish if you look at Okada vs Tanahashi in New Japan that's how the HBK vs Hart rivalry should have been can you imagine if Okada just said nah I ain't putting Tanahashi over after he beat Tanahashi the first time lmao

it was a good match.like i said it already.he was a great talent and sadly very underrated most of the time.shawn was a real piss ant, stabbing his back and run to vince.and all for saving his own skinny but.why vince does not send marty immediately to a rehab ? he know he has a drinking problem at the point.to fire him makes it much worser not better.
He offered him rehab several times even as recently as the mid 2000s when he was brought in when Shawn was feuding with angle and Shawn was the one who wanted him to be a part of that and Marty got a dui witch fucked up his chance at a full time contract Vince gave him chance after chance he would do good for a few months then fall back into his demons

Vince McMahon was fuckin HBK thats why he did whatever Shawn Michaels told Him I hope Janettey got his ankle fix stay strong Marty ✊👌
Are u going to post the entire interview??
Marty is having the last laugh who is the old sexy boy now lol. Marty looks way better than HBK.
Shawn isnt doing rips in an indy show bathroom tho 😂
Yeah it was actually the second match on the card, not the first.
A bad match my ass. That match was awesome I thought, and I’m a tuff critic
Fun Fact: Marty was fired twice by the WWF in 93
marty jannetty for wwe hall of fame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Their match was not the first match of the night, or the PPV.
There match was second on Royal Rumble 1993. The Steiner Brothers vs. The Beverly Brothers was the first match on the PPV.
It was supposed to be first but the part Marty did not mention was a agent found him passed out in the locker room drunk so it wasn’t just Shawn who said something a lot of ppl did so Marty was right it was first but got pushed to the second match
wonder if marty can spell XANAX
He was in some ways the better wrestler in the Rockers but he had the same opportunities as HBK but was misused or wasted this opportunity.
He couldn't have been sacked for that long because he appeared Summerslam 93
always loved marty way better than shawn.
9:04 is pretty hilarious
haha that’s totally me
This is one of the reasons why Shawn isn't the greatest of all time cause he didn't make any body besides himself even when working with Diesel at 11 he sabotaged the finish if you look at Okada vs Tanahashi in New Japan that's how the HBK vs Hart rivalry should have been can you imagine if Okada just said nah I ain't putting Tanahashi over after he beat Tanahashi the first time lmao
This guy is hilarious.
Dont you talk about my Sherri! Dont you dare 🙂!
I love Marty, but guys, he gets into a lot of trouble being less than truthful. He's a charming dude but I have a hard time believing he's always innocent. Look at his history. Hell, read Bret's book. And other guys' too.
9:02 wth Marty 😂
Drugs kick in at 9:03
it was a good match.like i said it already.he was a great talent and sadly very underrated most of the time.shawn was a real piss ant, stabbing his back and run to vince.and all for saving his own skinny but.why vince does not send marty immediately to a rehab ? he know he has a drinking problem at the point.to fire him makes it much worser not better.
Who dares me to track him down next time I'm in toms river NJ? I may be moving back to the area... I'd love to buy him a drink. Preferably non alcoholic lmao OK maybe a beer. And it'd have to be like April after weed is legal. I can get it anytime I have card but party Marty is on his own brother
Poor old Marty's been through enough already, no?
Umm What was that @ 9:03 ? Marty just out of nowhere looked behind him and said "Oh did i break something?" That was weird
Marty sold the wrong shoulder.. of course Vince hated the match
Oh but they won't fire Shawn for the same thing, drinking and drugging?
