The best part is when she limps for a few steps out of habit, then starts walking (almost) normally when she realizes the pain has decreased drastically due to Nate The Surgeon Guy’s brilliant treatment!

Of all the hoof trimmers I’ve seen on TH-cam, Nate is by far the most caring and skilled out of them all, to me at least. The cows and their well being always come first and it’s easy to see how knowledgeable and experienced Nate truly is, in all areas of hoof care. The cows may limp in but they walk out like new animals

@@archangel5627 See these types of comments under Nate's videos all the time. I don't think other hoof trimmers cause tons of bleeding, they cause more or less the same amount of bleeding as Nate. It seems to make commentators here feel exceptional by association. How do you know that all videos are posted - the others might be more honest in how they present their work.

    • @archangel5627

@@yardleywood7585 Ok, I’ll admit that when I wrote my original comment I was talking about one specific hoof trimmer. Just about every video of his that I’ve seen, he causes a great deal of bleeding while removing layers of hoof. I was merely comparing him to Nate. This other trimmer appears to cause a great deal of bleeding whenever he’s using his knife while Nate on the other hand seems to be very cautious and careful whenever he’s removing hoof material that’s close to the corium level of the foot. Nate has even pointed out that he typically doesn’t work as fast as some of these other hoof trimmers on TH-cam for the simply reason that he prefers to take his time and work more slowly as to make sure he’s not causing more damage than good while doing his standard trimmings.

Essentially we do the same type of technique when removing decay from teeth. A small hole may be seen but it's cavernous underneath. Great job, with steady hands removing the detached horn without disturbing the live tissue beneath. You my friend are simple an amazing tactician in your skills! I'm so used to Angus, Brown Swiss, and Suffolk/Hamp sheep hooves after having those cow breeds my whole life and those sheep for well over half my life. So it always amazes me how pristine and white Holstein hooves are on the sole while being trimmed. This is just a random thought I've had since I started watching your vids. Also, I'm definitely gonna convince my mom to get some of spray and powder you use for these cows. My mom has grown up with iodine, and we usually just use coppertox for hoof issues/infections. I tell her about what you use because of the explanation you used in a previous video. Knowing that your chlorhexadine spray doesn't break down like iodine and actually provides a barrier is so great to know. And the acid powder should help a lot too. Granted, we almost never have problem with our cows' hooves because they're always either on pasture or dry dirt. But we do have rather frequent problems with our sheep hooves. The spray and powder should come in handy for them. I just wish they made hoof blocks for sheep hooves. Maybe I could buy some of the cow ones and cut them down to size to fit a sheep hoof.

Even though we’ve seen it 100 times before, wrapping the foot is my favorite part

I have injured my big toe nail plates few weeks ago and it's a slow and painful process. I sort of got idea what it feels like to have buildup of puss underneath of nail now :(
I think cows feel a lot of relief after the procedure

Nate , there are a lot of other hoof trimming channels on TH-cam . But yours is by far the best . The way you knowledge fully narrate and present your vids make them the most compelling channel I subscribe too. Keep it up bud 😊👏🏻👍🏻

That's incredibly impressive. I've seen other videos done of hoof trimming, and this is the least amount of bleeding that I've ever seen. You were really gentle, that's nice.
