- Cyberpunk 2077 Johnny Silverhand Introduction Scene. The first appearance of Johnny Silverhand introduction scene in Cyberpunk 2077. We get to see his final day, performing in his band for the last time and then setting a nuclear bomb off in Arasaka tower. Where he is then captured by Adam Smasher and turned into a biochip, known as the relic by Saburo Arasaka. Keanu Reeves does a pretty good job.

When I was on my 20s playing the Cyberpunk 2020 RPG I didn't get Johnny Silverhand. Now in my 40s I'm thinking he didn't go far enough
Fun fact while playing as johny silver hand if you go into the Camera mode and view his character model he holds his gun using the technique called Center Axis Relock which is the same technique and style John wick holds his guns in the movies

@@MrZlocktar Cyberpunk settings are just over-the-top anarchist like this. This is a world where you can buy automatic weapons from vending machines and corps own strategic weapons. Obviously not realistic, but true to the genre.

Yea dude if i recorded this i definitely would try to make it more Cinematic. At the same time, there is a time limit written into the story so am little sprinting, as long as you catch all the story beats right, is good for the scene. When he ran on stage and jerked around toward the kick lmfao. Imagine being in the audience and seeing johnny move with all that nervous energy and then try to act cool
For those who don’t know, the track that plays when Johnny attacks the Arasaka tower is called “The Rebel Path”.

If you want to know what else was going on during this mission, read the Firestorm CP2020 books. I ran this game back when it came out for my group. The second team is the player characters and the main effort. When this scene happened in the game it was a holy crap moment as I knew exactly what was going on. Very cool that Maximum Mike was able to get a Cyberpunk game made. While not perfect, I still had a blast playing the game.

Totally agree. People dont recognize Johnny is a huge believer in an individuals autonomy. Seems far more fitting to have him encourage someone to go their own way. After all one of the major reasons he hates Arasake is they know have the ability to own the one thing nobody ever could: a persons own mind and identity. Its perverse.

easily one of the best sequences in the game, running through this game for the first time with as few ideas to the overarching story is the best way to do it

@@postdawn also a fun fact I read. Johnny altered alot of his memories in Mikoshi. So what we see here is Johhny’s version of the Arasaka bombing, where he claims only he and Rogue came up with the plan. CDPR did this to show Johhny’s narcissistic side. So from one can gather from this info Morgan Blackhand did indeed lead a second team AND fought Smasher, Johnny just changed those memories in his mind ( much like how Alt tells V that Johnny’s recollection of her death is not accurate).
Maybe they plan to have it be a DLC set during 2023 with us playing as Morgan.

@@amoral_minority not really, the cost (man hours + development cost) to value (novelty, wears off after an hour) ratio is subterranean. It would take so long to do and wouldn't be worth it..

Tbh this game is pretty deep. Jonny silverhand was portrayed as a legend and still is in Night city. Knows to feel nothing but rage till he’s captured and has the soul head thing out on him. For once in his life he was scared, afraid of death
it's a little deeper still when you realise everything you see is Johnny's subjective, biased version of events. Alt says as much; it's how Johnny remembers it in his rockerboy mind, so Johnny might not be the badass he thinks he is. But that's the version that was immortalised.
Also (SPOILERS I GUESS) I love how at first you think Johnny is important to the story and really he's just an unwanted by-product, in the Arasaka ending his engram is shredded like an unwanted file. He's not important apart from being bait, but you grow to love him and value him all the same
@@0lionheart The scene in the oilfield during Rogue's questline, he realizes he's just one more in the trash heap and actually dislikes the idea of being called a legend, but just as one person remembers him for what he was he's content with that. V is the only one who ends up understanding Johnny, even more than his so-called "friends", the only one who he actually ended up showing the person behind the rockerboy.

I can't help but feel bad for Saburo Arasaka when he's watching the mushroom cloud. He's a WW2 vet, and would have been alive when the two atomic bombs were dropped on Japan, and likely got to see the aftermath. When he asks Johnny why he did this, he isn't asking the reason for the attack, he's asking why he used a nuke to do so. But Johnny completely misses that, due to the difference in age and culture, which likely makes it hurt all the worse.
Saburo talks about nuking night city and destroying it, yiu can read that if you go to his AV and retrive his laptop and his sword

I doubt he had that much humanity to begin with. He was a bad guy. And Japan during WWII were worse than the Nazis, soo.... yeah. His company literally does experiments on children. Johnny was doing the only thing he could do. He was just 1 man. He never could have won against Arasaka. The nuke was the only thing he could do to even harm them. The game was rigged against him and Arasaka made the rules, so instead of losing a rigged game he flipped over the board and quit by going out with this suicide mission. Its like if youre losing at monopoly so instead of letting anyone else win you light the board on fire and blow your brains out lol. He never intended to make it out of it alive. He was also already a cyberpyscho. Mike Pondsmith confirmed it. Johnny is just a high functioning psycho kind of like how Adam Smasher was able to go full borg, he was already a psycho before getting chromed up.

Kinda weird how Soulkiller and Cyberimplants have already been around in 2023 but still look and work pretty much the same FIFTYFOUR years later. For a turbo capitalist market that is a remarkable stagnation. The timeline of the entire backstory is so messed up and all over the place.
Samurai was founded in 2003 and released an album in march 2004 after Johnny came back from war, where he had lost his arm and became a deserter full of hate against the system. But Johnny was only born in 1988. That would make him an armless war veteran at the age of 15 or even earlier. Quiz question: at what age did Johnny enlist in the the army and go to war? 13?
Well look at our technology, the way modern AR’s work is still the same as 100 years ago good working technique don’t have to change much if it works

I would object that firearms have been around way long to get to this point. The chinese fire lance, the first hand held weapon to accelerate a projectile with gunpowder, ist over a thousand years old. So it seems natural that we have reached a point of diminishing returns improving the relatively simple concept of "accelerate projectile toward precise target very fast". Technologies that are a century old or less and whose function is more complicated however still see major changes regularly. Just think about how much phones or televisions have changed over the past 100 years. Running around with 50+ year old cyberimplants is like (unironically) using a walkman casette player from the 70s today. It is so obsolete that it is weird looking.
My other issue with all the cyberimplants seen in the game, present and flashback, is that they just don't seem very usefull to most people. Why on earth would a normal office worker need cyberarms which provide no benefit beside more muscle? The Cyberpunk lore just doesn't really flesh out why people like to get their limbs chopped off so much and have them replaced with some implant that doesn't even do a lot except making you super vulnerable to hacks you can cheaply buy on the black market.
Lmao at thinking a total corporatocracy would result in boundless innovation instead of complete, controlled stagnation

I know it's flashy and likely unrealistic or whatever, but i love the reload animation for that gun.
This was the part of the game that completely changed my opinion on it.
The flashbacks of Johnny silverhand are the ultimate kind of male power fantasy! Banging hot chicks, being famous and adored by fans, being a cool ultimate unstoppable badass that crushes all enemies, and doing whatever the hell you want regardless of society's conventions. But when it comes to Johnny's memories, especially when it came to arasaka Tower, it's heavily implied that none of what he experienced actually happened the way he remembers it. It kind of subverts the whole whole power fantasy dynamic. Real or not they were fun to play regardless!
